Its a sad day today because just like everything in Astoria nowadays, this place just isn't the same 🥹🥹🥹 they think they are slick by serving you fast so you wont notice the size decrease. Why not just charge more to keep up with inflation? Why do you want to shrink portions? This is sad that my childhood spot has become what it is today, this is a picture of what your truck on Ditmars is doing. Idk if its your employees stealing somehow or your new business model. Please address this problem immediately!

Best people! Gives you free falafel that makes you full before you eat. Gives you full plate more than your moneys worth

Tried this place out & I will become a regular. When we ordered they offered us free falafel, customer service is excellent & extremely helpful. I got the chicken shawarma & the portions are generous! Not only are they generous but it’s delicious every bite. Extremely well used spices & tender chicken with tasty rice. Def recommend

Probably the friendliest halal truck I’ve ever been to and seriously some of the best food. Came here 2 nights in a row while working in the area. The plates a huge, the people are so nice, and the food is amazing. Go here.

Owner is incredibly friendly and clearly has a close relationship with his staff (maybe family). The chicken platter is one of the best I've had in the city with some ingredients like turnips and basmati rice. Not to mention having white sauce and tahini. Great food will be back!

They’re the fastest, best tasting, most consistent, and best service out of all the food trucks and Halal platters in Astoria. Absolute best. I promise anyone that says otherwise are idiots. I only go to the other food trucks when they are closed which is usually after 12. They also always give a complimentary falafel to eat while you wait.

The last time I passed by the bright green food truck parked on the corner of 31st and Ditmars, I had just eaten a massive meal at Hamido's but I made a mental note to return because the food smelled so good even from across the street. I recently was able to return, with an empty stomach, to try the King of Falafel & Shawarma. The vendor greeted me with a falafel to try, and I immediately noticed it was oval shaped. It did taste significantly crunchier, which I am attributing the larger surface area to, and the spices were fantastic. I had my heart set on trying their kefta but unfortunately by the time I arrived late Saturday evening, they were out of everything except their chicken and falafel, so I had a platter of that instead ($12). My plate was absolutely packed and smothered with their white sauce (highly recommend the red sauce as well as it packs a subtle punch), and the salad was a very welcome addition to the rice and mound of marinated and shaved chicken shawarma. There is so much flavor packed in every single bite, and the way the chicken was marinated definitely sets it apart from other shawarma carts I've tried thus far. Everyone I spoke to, including the other patrons waiting for their order, had only amazing praises to sing for KoF and I can easily understand why. I'm very happy to discover that they also have a truck on 53rd and Park, as Astoria is a bit of a trek for me. PS- An update: I have now finally managed to sample their chicken and beef shawarma, as well as their kefta too. My favorite still remains the chicken shawarma, which edges out the beef because it remains juicer and better marinated. I found the kefta a little too dry for my preference and it lacked that smoky grilled flavor. If you are going to order one thing, get their chicken or chicken and falafel platter with white sauce, red sauce, and extra tahini. And maybe a side order of falafels (4 for $3 to munch on the way home).

Really enjoyed the food here. The falafel was good especially when it is hot. It is crispy on the outside and soft In the inside. I really like the salad that it comes with. The favors really compliment well with the rice and the falafel. It is best with extra white and barbecue sauce with a little hot sauce. I had ordered this for lunch one day and it was so good I came back to order again.

Craving some good shawarma in the area, we happened upon this truck and woah did it hit the spot. Prices were decent, not the cheapest but reasonable. The seller let us try their Falafel as we took time to choose what we wanted. They had a great sense of humor and was super nice. It was so good I ordered myself a Shawafel sandwich (Shawarma + Falafel). My sandwich was cooked to order and completely satisfied me that day. Great food truck spot if you want something good in the area!

To be clear, this is for the food truck in Bayside. I have seen lots of great reviews for this food truck on different websites. I was so looking forward to their food. The service was good and friendly and the truck is well located. The problem was the food. I do understand everyone has off days but this was pretty bad. Of my 4 dishes, 3 were too dry and un-seasoned to eat. Both of the shawarma (the chicken and the combo) and the kefta kebab were dry to the point of inedible. I was disappointed with my first experience with the king.

When you see this beautiful green truck, you MUST stop for a bite. Rain, sleet, snow, hail - these guys will be posted up with the most delicious food truck dishes the city has to offer. Pick anything on the menu and I guarantee you will love it. My personal favorite is the chicken shawarma with falafel. The falafel is always fresh and warm, crispy and golden-brown-delicious on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside.

YEAHH BABBY! This spot is the absolute pinnacle of NYC HALAL food! This is way better than Adels or Halal Guys that yah be waiting in hours for . No wait here no crazy lines and better food whats there to not like? As you wait homeboy gives u a sample of their famous falafel. It is so crispy and flavorful in the inside. Oh and get the shawarma here. It aint that fake crap that most city trucks be serving that cubed mystery meat crap. Its the real freakin deal! All hail the King! King of Falafel & Shawarma's food is awesome and fairly priced for the mega portions, and the guys staffing the truck are always friendly and pleasant.  Not to sound like an infomercial, but I used to believe I didn't like falafel. However, nibbling on a complimentary piping hot King of Falafel falafel completely changed my tune and made me realize I'd just been eating shoddy falafel previously. I'm a convert. I tend to go for the shawarma platters (chicken, beef, or mixed) for $12. They are served on a bed of rice along with salad (lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, turnips), falafel, and white and/or red hot sauce. Sometimes if you show up close to closing (around 10 PM), they are out of beef but that's okay since the chicken is so delicious. And KOF has a physical restaurant in Astoria too!

Excellent food truck. LOVE the staff too. You can tell they love what they do and are passionate about their food...which by the way is excellent. I got the chicken and falafel platter and asked them to smother it in all the sauces. So freaking good and so so so fresh. They also give free falafel if the line is long and they see you've been waiting. Prices are great. $13 for the platter and it can easily feed two people.

The chicken shawarma sandwich I bought was ok. I could have done with more vegetables / salads. The meat was not off the spit, which meant it wasn't crispy, and essentially not proper shawarma. The guy didn't show me what he charged until I asked what he charged me. He didn't show me the screen. He must have added 0.53 cents. Nbd, but seems unprofessional not to show me or at least tell me first if there was a fee in addition to tax.

This truck !! Like wow !! I've eaten from this truck now over 5 times & it just keeps getting better & better !!! $10 to $ 12 bucks for a loaded plate with their delicious chicken or beef & lamb mix .... I always get my plate over salad; their rice is delicious as well but as y'all know I'm down 128 lbs & back in a 34 inch waist again so I can't go backwards, can't stop won't stop !!! The guys, the Greeter & order taker is so friendly & polite all the time; the cooks as well and always super clean which is so appreciated !! Their white sauce & hot sauce is like no other & is a must have to finish any one of their dishes !!! Also their Falafel is hands down one of the best I've ever eaten ... They toss em out like Scooby Snacks when ya waiting for ya order great idea keeps us coming back for more !! Definitely recommend a must try & if ya like Hala Hala food this truck takes it to another level for real !!! I absolutely love king of falafel and no one does it better than this truck!! Come here for an amazing meal and great service! Service: I need to start with how friendly the workers are! I have come to this truck relatively regularly and the workers now remember me! They are always so funny and so quick with getting you your food! They also give you a free falafel if you need to wait for even just a bit! They will sometimes even give me an extra falafel in my meal! Food: everything is so good! I usually go for the chicken platter which has just so much flavor!! The salad adds a nice balance to the chicken and rice and their sauces are amazing! It also comes with a falafel! The falafel sandwich is another one of my go to's and you cannot go wrong! This place has by far the best falafel ever! The chicken shawafel is also amazing - it has both chicken and falafel and comes in a pita with salad! The chicken is different than what they use in the chicken platter and also so good and perfectly seasoned! Honestly everything at this place is so good that I don't think you can go wrong! Price: prices have increased but everything is still so cheap and just so worth it! Everything ranges between $9-$13 and you will definitely be so full after!!

Late night cravings! Their location is right off the Broadway stop and conveniently across their actual restaurant. Fast, friendly and delicious. I would recommend to order via DoorDash for pick up if you want your food faster. Enjoy!

Yum, falafel are delicious and crunchy. I've never had better, such a nice guy behind the counter. Such a delight to see happy people. I had the chicken shawarma which was a bit dry but it was still quite tasty. I can't wait to go back

Delicious! Stopped by this food truck after work for a quick dinner and was pleasantly surprised with how tasty the food was. The truck is usually parked on Ditmars and 31st. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma which was great. Lots of flavor and the food came out quick too. Definitely worth checking out!

Absolutely delicious. Fresh, perfectly spiced, and huge servings. We went three times while we were in Astoria and each time got something different. They hand you a tasty, piping hot falafel right when you arrive before you even order. Such a great way to convince everyone to stay. It's great how they remembered us after the first time we ate there and we're so welcoming when we returned. Definitely try this cart!!!

My favorite so far is the shawafel (chicken and falafel together) with hot sauce. The most satisfying quick meal I've had in a long time.

Best halal truck for shawarma in Astoria! Sorry Duzan, you use to be my #1 spot, but king of Falafel is winning. Always better than halal guys. In my eyes, #1 spot to go to for halal food. A lot of food for a cheap price. Two people could eat one platter. I had plenty of Middle Eastern food in my years in New York, but their chicken shawarma was the best I've had -- great texture, not too dry or too fatty, and the amount of spice was just right. One of my favorite spots here in Astoria and their felafel is one of the best out there. Their food is always fresh and delicious. Staff is very friendly and they even give you a freshly cooked felafel as they prepare your order. Must try!

When I first started craving chicken over rice, I thought about going to the halal guys, but it was pretty far from where I was so I decided to venture onto places nearby. The visit to King of Falafel was interesting! Right as I got in front of the truck, the guy didn't hesitate to give me a big piece of falafel sample, which was really nice! I got the classic chicken over rice, which I was surprised that it included another piece of falafel. I liked how there was a variety of vegetables, not only the salad but also some pickled vegetables too. It more than fulfilled my search for chicken over rice.

They give you free falafel to try and it was AMAZING. I ordered the chicken shawarma on pita and it was delicious. Must go here.

Was waiting in line for food. Watched them use tongs to place raw chicken on the grill-then use those same tongs (without washing) to serve the cooked chicken. That's cross contamination!! Y'all should know this it's basic food safety..:You're likely making people very sick!!

If you ever want to try authentic falafel, this is the place to have it. I've tried a bunch of falafel places all over the US, and this is by far the best one I've had yet. The owners and workers were all super friendly and welcoming, I'll definitely be coming back for seconds :)

Omgggg best food ever. I love this place. My girlfriend and I found this from the original truck location. It was the best rice and chicken I've ever had. And the falafel is amazing. And I don't even like falafel.

Look. No. Further for your Falafel Fix!! Absolutely delicious, fast, clean and always providing a fresh falafel sample with a smile! These guys are great. I can't believe I waited so long to try the amazingness that is this food truck until I moved to Astoria! Just stay way from the fire-hot hot sauce though! Holy hell, for sure!! And I LOVE spicy foods!!! I just stick to the white sauce!!!

I usually get chicken kebab over rice, the portions are huge, the guys are super nice and always hook me up with a free falafel. Wonderful service and excellent food!!

Maybe it's because I've only been able to come here later in the evening, but it's always been a crapshoot as far as their protein offerings go--sometimes they'll have beef and lamb, I vaguely recall having had a minced, adana-like kebab once, other times just chicken left. But still I'll always return. You can't go wrong with whatever they have on hand; I still haven't. Also, best falafel in the city in my book. The salad is top notch: the pickles and crunchy pink things add a lovely sweet and briny contrast. And their hot sauce is actually hot! Skip the white sauce and get the tahini.

Hands down the best shawarma and platters. I could review these guys all the time I just really wish they would come to Long Island so I could spend more $ in one spot

Wandering around Astoria and handed a free sample of their falafel. Hooked right there. Ordered a veggie pocket and then came back for falafel platter. The man inside the truck said 'oh I know you'd be back'. The amount of food for the price is astounding but what's even more astounding is how freakin delicious the food is. This is the best falafel I've ever had in my entire life. Everything about it was perfect. If I was a local this would be my go to spot.

I had been to these guys food truck on Broadway a long time ago and their falafel was much better. Today I stopped by their Ditmars blvd food truck, ordered a falafel sandwich with everything on it, asked for white sauce, hot sauce, confirmed with the guy he had put white sauce, and it was terrible. Super dry with just a few falafel balls. See picture. I basically had lettuce and tomato on a pitta with a few falafel balls. It's the worst falafel sandwich I've ever had.

Visiting an old neighborhood would not be complete without swinging by to this food truck especially that Ditmars Blvd is now their home. I have waited long enough and glad I was not disappointed. Credits to Jando's recommendation. Of course- if it is your first, always try their trademark- and for this experience- their shawarma! Purchased both- their beef/lamb and the chicken over rice for me and hubby. Tastiest meat I have ever tried. Freshest veggies included. Heavenly sauce taste. Unique rice taste. Most of what I am expecting from what I have been hearing. It is worth every penny I spent. The vendor entertained me with the most lovely smile from the beginning till end. How could I resist an invitation to come back. :)

I expected to like this place a lot more than I did. They're definitely the king of falafel, but their shawarma left a lot to be desired. I didn't see it on the menu, but I asked for falafel, chicken shawarma, and lamb over rice so I could try all three meats. The guy working the truck said that would be fine and charged me $9 for it. When I got back and started eating, I realized that there was no lamb at all. I guess he forgot I asked for that, but I had already paid an extra $1 for it. In any case, the falafel was impressive. I'm often not fond of falafel because they can end up dry, crumbly, and tasteless. This truck's falafel was none of those things. It had a great herby flavor and had a unique texture that I really enjoyed. The crispy exterior was a nice contrast with the soft interior. I was much less impressed by the chicken shawarma. It was pretty dry and had absolutely no flavor at all. It was not cut freshly from the rotating mass of meat, but rather just heated up on the cooktop. There was no char or golden brown bits. It was actually a bit difficult to continue eating it, so I left most of that chicken behind. The sauces are decent, but not great. The whole platter itself was sort of lukewarm. Overall, a bit disappointing.

The best falafel in all of NYC. Super cheap, you can get 4 huge falafel for $2 which is sometimes filling enough for a meal. The line builds up pretty quickly but the manager always gives everyone on line free falafel while waiting which is a great business incentive. Once you order they make your food almost instantaneously. Always fresh and never disappoints. Stand on the line. It's 100% worth it.

Love the falafel sample every time you order or walk past. I always order my favorites which are either Freddy's Junior, $8 or Kefta Platter, $9. The portion is huge! You can eat half for dinner and save another half for lunch. I always ask for extra turnip and have them douse it with hot sauce with a few squirt of white sauce. Heaven! The guys are very friendly.

Get the chicken platter with the white sauce. It's the cheapest on the menu but it's the best. The falafel is very excellent as well get it with the white sauce.

I'll give it a King for Falafel and maybe a mid-level Duke for Shawarma. But the falafel is legit. It's shaped like a little bean and they hand you one right when you order, all sneaky-like since they know they've got the goods when it comes to falafel. It's crunchy, got that garlic-pepper cumin flavor, a kind of fluffy, nice inside. I want to say it's moist, or crumbly, but the texture of the interior on this falafel is really hard to describe. It's not dry, that's for sure, but it's not soggy, either. It's...it's the king, man. It's the king. The chicken and shawarma was a little dry tbh. I'd say Habiba B&B Halal down the street on Steinway is better for that. But the falafel? No way. Best falafel. Falafel King. FKing. Will be back for a falafel gyro, or whatever is the falafelest on the menu.

They really are the King falafel! Stopped at the truck before I headed home to pick up both a falafel and a schwafel (falafel and schawarma) pita As always, the falafel was crunchy and crispy and delicious. It is without a doubt the best falafel I have ever tasted. The chicken Shawarma was tender and flavorful and complemented the falafel nicely inside the pizza. Their salad and pickled vegetables as well as hot sauce and white sauce are outstanding. Whether you choose the truck or the actual restaurant, you can't go wrong if you are looking for some high-quality, delicious middle eastern fast food. I'll be back again, and again.....

I am not a big fan of food trucks but this place has the best falafel sandwiches and the most affordable prices

One of my all time favorites places in Astoria for a quick grab and go. Anytime I'm in the Ditmars area, I go out of my way to make a stop at their food truck (and ruin my Astoria park work out runs). So disappointed that I moved cross country, because these guys put out LEGIT falafel. The falafels are crispy on the outside, never soggy, and they always have the right blend of spices and flavor. ALWAYS ask for the white sauce on the side to dip them in. The guys here are always nice enough to offer them as a freebie as you wait in line too! I can't say I'm too much of a fan of their other platters (which are huge and gets messy), but the cheap falafel side orders themselves are enough to warrant 5 stars from me.

Oh man, this place brings back memories. I remember the cart outside of the C-Town. The food here is absolutely amazing, flavorful and just the right amount of spices. The amount of food they give you on one plate is a redicoulous amount, one person. 100% recommend!

I've heard a lot about King of Falafel & Scawarma so when I saw one of their food trucks, I was very excited to try it. Unfortunately I couldn't get the lamb and beef shawarma because they were out but I did get to try their chicken plate which was quite filling. In particular, the rice was really good -- it was flavorful and had a good texturthat wasn't too mushy or dry. My favorite part was that the food cart owner food truck owner would give out falafel to eat while we looked at the menu. Overall a nice spot to check out!

This place is Amazing. I haven't had Shawarma this good since i was in Jerusalem itself. Just moved to Astoria and this was a welcomed surprise! Falafel is as advertised.

Happy I found this cart walking around Astoria!! Ordered the falafel platter($7) which comes with rice, lettuce tomato red onion & pickles- 6 pieces of falafel were included. Wasn't able to finish my dish being it's extremely filling! Falafel was very soft inside & crunchy outside- what I enjoyed the most is that it wasnt dried out! You can add white/hot/tahini sauce.. food is seasoned well & could be eaten without the sauce! I can only imagine their meat dishes are as good but I'd definitely come back for falafel!

They are the king of falafel but shawarma doesn't add up. There falafel are crispy on the outside tender on the inside torpedoes. Pretty much the most perfect falafel on god's green earth. Shawarma is meh. Tastes like a Big Mac but healthier or middle eastern. The white sauce isn't a tangy spicy garlic sauce it's more of a tahini / mayo?! It's weird. Didn't love it. Besides that this place is amazing. Owners make everyone feel like the mayor. Good food. Cheap prices. Awesome.

I like leaving reviews immediately after, or even while consuming the meal in question. So as I type, I am woofing down a chicken and falaffel platter. Yes, it's good. Yes, they gave me 2 (!!) pieces of falaffel while waiting the whole 5 minutes for my order. The first falaffel came as I was deciding what to order... the free falaffel sealed the deal. Exactly what everyone else in this review thread says. Crispy outside, moist inside. Absolute perfection. Dudes running the truck are super cool as well. Will/have been going back.

Excellent felafel and good prices with friendly staff. Some additional vegetables and hummus would be a welcome addition but there are limits with a food truck and this place more than delivers.

I've been eating from these guys since 2003. Their chicken over rice platter is so good. I just had it again today with extra falafels. I wish they opened a place in brooklyn. I will be back to sure.

Best Halal truck in the area. The owner is always so pleasant and personable. The platters are delicious. My favorite is the chicken platter over rice with salad. I'm used stuffed after which means they give you a decent amount of food. The price is always right and I'm never disappointed.

Freddy's has never disappointed in the years he's been in service. His staff, the gentlemen working the carts, are polite and give great customer service! Best falafel but my favorite is the shawarma! So good!
