I love Arabic flatbread sandwiches, but have you ever had them on fluffy, cheesy Manoush-style flatbread? If not, you're missing out.
"Manouwiches" are the signature dish at Kings Bakery, and they do not disappoint. I had a fully loaded soujouk sandwich, smothered in garlic and topped with pickles, lettuce, tomato, and even corn (!). The manoush wrap elevated the sandwich from merely excellent to utterly decadent. The sandwich was served with a heaping side of fries and a drink on the side. All for $12, I've been full for almost 8 hours now. Kathy had the chicken shawarma, which was a similarly filling and satisfying meal for a frigid Michigan afternoon.
The storefront itself is kind of an odd mixed bag. It's presented as an Arabic grocery market with informal seating for dining in. However, the grocery selection is quite scant, and is frankly disorganized. There is also a butcher's counter, but I can't comment on the quality of the meat cuts. Let's be honest: you came here for sandwiches, right?
TL;DR version: While I probably would avoid doing any grocery shopping here, the sandwiches are excellent, and may singlehandedly doom both your low-carb diet and your perception of all non-Manoush Arabic sandwiches.
