Worst texture and taste barbecue in town, and the owner doesn't seem to care as this place has worsen over the years. I would not recommend this place.

Just moved to the area and we love a good duck every once in awhile. Came across King’s Barbecue House and we were beyond impressed! Bought a duck for the family and it was DELICIOUS! Plus amazing portion! For reference-three people ate from this tray and this is how much we have left! Great price, great service, AMAZING food quality! Definitely coming back again!

After watching Keith Lee’s video on TikTok I thought I’d give this place a try. This place looks larger from the outside. I walked in to find there is no dinning, literally it’s just a counter and behind it is a glass window that has meat hanging. The customer service is dry and lacking. They only accept cash. I tried the bbq duck and pork. The duck was boney but the meat was juicy, flavorful and didn’t have a gamey taste but the skin was soggy, the pork was good but dry. Not a bad place for bbq duck.

Kuan-Yi Lee

Google
Roast duck was very juicy and tasty, and the skin on roast pork was crispy while meat was tender and juicy. I also ordered BBQ pork and sausages, both were pretty good just not amazed. The chefs were super kind. They explained and introduced different items patiently. Also, I was able to use my own containers :) It’s cash only tho, a heads-up for those who don’t usually bring cash with them. Overall, it was a pleasant experience ordering to-go from King’s Barbecue House and I will for sure go back for their Cantonese barbecue again.

Google
A low-key family-owned Cantonese BBQ joint that delivers decent food and affordable price, which is exactly what I was looking for. I ordered a BBQ duck which is about 4-6 serving if paired with rice and vegie at home. Will come back to get some takeout again.

Melinda Schultz

Google
We went as soon as we saw Keith Lee's review on 11/11/24! The whole roast duck and rice was super tasty. Not quite our style of food (too many bones in a duck lol) but very well-seasoned and cooked.

Google
Probably the best duck that you can get on this side of the Pacific ocean! I've been eating here since 2012 and keep coming back for all that goodness. It is a simple restaurant with no seating and no real amenities except for the fallen angels making the food. I always get the duck and rice combo. They also have a couple other options but make sure they dump some duck fat on top of the rice for that extra flavor!

Google
Very good BBQ pork and Roasted Duck. For me, the balance between lean meat and fat was perfect. The soy sauce has a special favor as well, sweet and salty. Love it. (I had better Cantonese BBQ in Hong Kong, but I think this place is the best in Seattle.) Parking is not that difficult in Chinatown. I managed to find a spot nearby in Saturday afternoon.

Yelp
This place always does me dirty. The portions are smaller than any other similar place in the International District. They crowed the container with rice then spread out the meager portions over the top of the rice so it looks more full of protein than it really is. They do not accept credit or debit cards only cash. Or maybe that's just what they tell me when I visit their spot. They also don't offer any hot peppers, hot pepper sauce, crispy chili peppers or anything spicy to go on the food. Huh?! How does an Asian food restaurant in the ID not have additional spices customers can add to their food. It is also the most bland food in the entire ID. This place is consistently the worst! The only reason why I got food from them today is because Asian Barbecue (a far better and similar food spot that gives all their customers incredible service, happened to have already been closed for the day but I took that chance because they are that good. Asia Barbecue is also close by 2 blocks up and over on Jackson). I still wanted bbq pork and pig ears. Ugh! Such a colossal disappointment. I am never going back.

Yelp
One of the best places to get your barbecue ducks! Come to Seattles International District and visit King's Barbecue House! Make sure to bring cash only. No cards excepted! The service here is super quick, order your choice of barbecue and they'll cut it up for you and you'll get that yummy goodness duck sauce!! The best I've ever had!! This place doesn't really catch your eyes or anything like that with pretty decorations. But they do display at their windows the choices of meat you can choose from. It's the barbecue and the people that works there, that'll make you want to come back for more.
google avatar

Yelp
Picked up one of their lunch combos. It was mostly rice and bones. Not much meat, looked like they sold me their scraps. The duck tasted very gamey and extra salty. Their roast pork was extra dry and no crackling skin. They might treat their exclusive patrons better. Good luck running a business on them alone. I'm saving my money and going somewhere else.

The Best Duck In Seattle Wa 206 Keith Lee Approved! Come here for all Duck & Chicken with Rice !

Yelp
Not very fresh or memorable No seating, very no frills Only option nearby that had quick takeout (most places didn't accommodate dogs, limiting our options...probably would have never gotten anything here on a normal basis) Ours came in a styrofoam box, not sure what's the difference between the plastic vs styrofoam days Wasn't appetizing enough for me even to take a photo before eating (so rare) Would not recommend. I'm used to the stuff in Flushing, NY which has higher turnover. Looked like no one was going in and out of this place (normally signal for me not to order) My brother said the duck was extremely gamey, had the organs/neck with odd/rotted things inside his.
google avatar

Nikolai N.

Yelp
Very tasty duck. The owners are very friendly as well. Would come back to try some of their other meats!

James H.

Yelp
The only problem I have with King's Barbeque House is that they are not linked with any delivery service, so placing an order for delivery is IMPOSSIBLE at this time. Maybe they know that if they offered delivery, their business would grow exponentially and they prefer to avoid that. I don't know; they're inscrutable. I'm disabled. If you're not disabled GO THERE and eat one for the Gipper!

Yelp
I don't think this is the right spot for Chinese BBQ for me. I came here to buy a lunch combo during my break time. Two meats and rice. Pretty basic item that I tried in numerous restaurant. I picked the roast pork and scallion ginger chicken for my two meats choice. I didn't really pay much attention until I got back to my office. When I open my bag and taken the food out. First impression didn't make the cut already. It is really messy and small portion. Not to mention that the cut of the pork and chicken are huge like... can you chop pieces correctly?! Most of the places I went to before for Chinese or Cantonese cuisine for BBQ, they will pair vegetable on the side but this lunch combo is just plain. The taste wasn't there as well. Roast pork was too fat and greasy, usually a great roast pork should be balance lean, fat, lean, fat... There roast pork is mostly fat. The chicken was too big and flavor tasted unbalance. And still got plenty of chicken hair in them? Extra protein?! Lol... Overall, no second chance here!

Yelp
This review is long overdue. My parents and I have come here since I was a baby when Seattle felt like a small town. The butcher and the lady who work here are so kind and familial. They always remember us and greet us gladly despite how busy they are. The location is close to uwajimaya and there is plenty of street parking to hop off and grab some quick dinner. The food is amazing. We have ordered everything from meal boxes to a whole roast duck. They also have phenominal barbecue pork and roast pork. Their food is not for the vegetarians in this neighborhood, but if you are a meat eater this is the place for you. They can chop and package meats for you or leave them for you to roast and chop. Whatever you choose, their roast meets are crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with perfect seasoning. The service is always great, sometimes they are very busy so it is helpful to have an idea what you like and come with a little patience or not near meal hours for less crowds. The prices is fairly reasonable. They do prefer cash so if you can try to bring some. Overall, highly recommend king's bbq whether for a quick lunch box or for a nice family dinner. This is the best for asian roast meats! Pro tip: for thanksgiving and christmas you can drop off your turkey and they will brine, season and roast it for you. Yum!

Yelp
We celebrate Chinese New Year's Many selections but you better go early We like the roasted pork especially.

Yelp
We decided to go out of our normal bbq place and checked this place out. There was a line outside so that's always a good thing. We had lunch prior to this so didn't really want to grab too much food so we ended up getting half a pound of bbq pork and half a pound of sausage. The butcher did a pretty rough estimation so we ended up getting more than what we need and paid more as well... The meat was just ok in my opinion, not great but not bad. The sausage was something unique that I don't see often and it was tasty. It looks like there lunch special is a good price so I might come back for that. Oh and it's cash only.

Nicholas L.

Yelp
The duck is amazing, make sure you ask for all of the sauces. They also give a large side of rice with it. The customer service is really good too.
google avatar

Ngoc-Diep P.

Yelp
Duck was meaty and good. Duck roasted is a bit less than other places aka less crunchy but the meat was tender and yummy compare to other places. Wish they include veggies like at least cabbage or something with their lunch plate. It was just rice and meat. Good deal still. Nice folks. Clean looking facility

L K.

Yelp
Old meat. Old skin. I should have paid attention to them cutting. Cantonese bbq shops are know to put in scraps to add on the weight but I don't think they did that because the cut is scrap itself. 垃圾

Yelp
Been going to this takeout only Chinese BBQ place since we moved to the area Over 24 years) Delicious BBQ They have a take out box lunch with white rice and your choice of meat eg. BBQ pork, roast pig BBQ ribs soy sauce chicken, white poached chicken, etc. Very reasonably priced food. I am a regular!
google avatar

Jboogie L.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place since we were in the area. Tried the roast pork ($11.75/lb) vs $18.99 (Famous Kitchen Issaquah). We ended buying a pound but it tasted alright and not as good as Famous Kitchen. We used it to make a claypot. Cash only.

Allan D.

Yelp
Nice Chinese bbq. I got the roast pork, soy sauce chicken, and salty baked chicken. All were freshly cooked, and seasoned just right. Some shops from around the corner have meats which are too salty. They only accept cash though. I came on a Wednesday afternoon and it seemed the food was fresh and the roast pork had crispy skin. I know many have complained about stale food. Perhaps they only roast their meats a couple times a week? At least it was freshly cooked the day I came in.
google avatar

Yelp
King's is where I end up when I don't quite know what I want for lunch. My go to is usually the roast duck. But friend and fellow Yelper, Nelson L posted about their BBQ sausage on Instagram. So of course I was craving it, and it's close to work, Only going in a couple days of week with the stay at home order. They open at 10am which is nice since I had to help on something at noon. They take cash only. It was definitely nice to get two proteins a try this time the variety was nice. This place is nothing fancy but it's always clean and quick.
google avatar

Charlie T.

Yelp
While waiting for a table at Dough Zone, we thought we would snack on some roasted pork, chicken leg, bbq pork, and bbq sausage. This is definitely not a fancy place. It's a hole in the wall that pretty much does only take out and takes cash (you know its gotta be good). They also have a combo to-go special. The roasted pork was pretty good. It had the perfect crunch factor. The bbq pork and bbq sausage were also good, could use a bit more flavor on the pork, but overall good. This is definitely a quick grab and go place that's reasonably priced.
google avatar

Worarit T.

Yelp
Never thought I would see the day to say this but I just had roast pork and duck that tasted... bad??? No flavor, dry, and little meat, don't know what else to say Expensive, unfriendly staff too
google avatar

Hanh L.

Yelp
I've been going here for years, more frequently since my favorite @ Rainier BBQ closed down. This to me is probably my go-to for BBQ duck & pork in Chinatown. I love the juicy texture and taste to it and I'm never disappointed. The dark sauce that comes with it is my ultimate fave. Prices are rising now @ $22.02 after tax but when I'm craving for something, price doesn't matter. Cash only. Located right across from Oasis.
google avatar

Chenda N.

Yelp
5 stars for the amazing roast pork and duck. Love the sauces and the lunch box prices are great. Service is hit or miss, the usual with businesses in Chinatown. Locally owned and has been a staple in the area for some time. I saw someone pick up a huuuuuuge full blown whole roasted pig, i assume for a wedding or bday, and it looked amazing!

Yelp
I stumbled upon this place on Thanksgiving night after a futile attempt at trying to find takeout options in Chinatown (King's was pretty much the only restaurant open that was located near King's Street Station as I was trying to catch a train then). King's Barbecue House is a Chinese barbeque hole-in-the-wall restaurant that is pretty much take-out and cash only. Thus, there are no seats nor tables in the restaurant. You order, pay, and leave. For a Chinese hole-in-the-wall restaurant, their prices were pretty reasonable though definitely not the cheapest I've seen. I opted for their Cha Siu/Shao lunchbox, which was essentially two servings of Cha Siu/Shao pork and a bed of rice. I really enjoyed the Cha Siu/Shao as it had the right texture/bake and seasoning. The only complaints I had were that 1) the sauce on the rice was way too salty, and 2) there were no vegetables that came with the lunchbox! I personally prefer a more balanced meal with low sodium hence why I'm knocking two stars off. Overall, King's is a good place to go to if you're in a rush and need something quick!
google avatar

Victor D.

Yelp
Came here on the whim and decided to get some roast pork. It was solid, nothing special. This is some that really doesn't care too much for roast pork though. So take that with grain of salt, I'd want to try more of the other things though as I have high hopes
google avatar

Christy P.

Yelp
My family's go to when we don't want to cook and just have rice at home. We love the roast duck but I'm also partial to their chicken.
google avatar

Li H.

Yelp
It's my first time getting roast duck from outside of Uwajimaya or restaurants. The inside of the store is small and you will have to take your food elsewhere to enjoy. The joys of takeout. Cash only too. The duck though...Juicy, tasty and just delish. Love love loveit! Just that is worth 4 stars. :D This is a roast duck "lunchbox". It's just meat and rice. The price is the same as an average lunch for me. The presentation and service was a little lackluster, much like other small city stores. The lady who took my order was a little brusque, but I only needed a quick grab and go so it was fine. If you want your sauce separate or no sauce you should tell her because she just poured it directly on my rice without asking. A gentleman cut one of the hanging ducks for me. The cut I got (1/4 maybe?) was slightly bony, but still good meaty pieces. It's a much better deal to buy a whole duck for $21 though. I'd like to try some other places before I come back, but I would come back.
google avatar

Nina H.

Yelp
The meats here tasted pretty dry but the BBQ pork was good. I didn't realize their meals consisted of just the meats and rice, no veggies. I like my meals with some veggies too so this place is ideal for folks buying meats only for takeout. Cash only!
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
Get your cash ready folks because King's is where the Chinese BBQ is at! I have been going here since I was very very young. Going on 20+ years! I love getting the "lunch box" because you get rice and meat and it's only like 8 dollars. The flavor of the roast pork, roast duck, roast chicken and bbq Pork reminds me of when I would visit my relatives in Hong Kong. It's hard to describe the flavor, but my friend who is an executive chef was in awe when I introduced him to King's. Again this business is old fashioned and only accepts cash. So come prepared and hungry! It will all be worth it!!!
google avatar

Ken L.

Yelp
BBQ is their specialty and that is all they do, all day! They offer: Roast Pork, BBQ Pork, BBQ Ribs, BBQ Sausage, Roast Duck, Roast Chicken, Baked Salty Chicken, Soy Sauce Chicken and BBQ Box lunches to go. I got an order of both the roast pork and BBQ Pork. What a waste of my money! The pork was dry and fatty and the BBQ was overcooked with no flavor whatsoever. Kau Kau BBQ nearby is so much better.... sad to say, I will not be coming back. Update: I went here January 2012 and found that the duck wasnt too bad so upped the stars to 3 stars. This could be because I put it in my Convection oven!? Hmmmm, if you must buy here, you gotta heat it up right as well.

Yelp
King's BBQ House is like an old friend for decades. Brightly lighted, simple or perhaps no-deco, King's is a no fuss take-out eatery that's seriously old-school. They offer maybe 10 items on their menu. Roast pork, char-siu, roast duck, soy sauce chicken and others form the basis of their menu. Their food is deliciously attractive with a formula that never needs changing. Take-out lunch boxes with BBQ + rice. Or take-out by the pound or by whole or half duck/chicken and the like. It's simple, inexpensive, and most importantly, delicious. We ordered the roast pork - perfectly seasoned, flavorful, and omg-tender! We also order half a soy sauce chicken - a generously large chicken that is flavorful with melt-in-your-mouth tender bits of meat. Dipped in the sauce they provide, it's soooo yum! Don't expect to eat there. It's meant for take-outs only. You can always eat at the nearby park instead or take-home. During the COVID-19 time, this is the perfect eatery for a quick take-out.
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
I ordered the bbq lunch box, the roast pork was very dry and old, tasted spoiled, had to throw away, why are they serving garbage?
google avatar

Damon C.

Yelp
They have really good duck but customer service and prep skills are terrible. I came here hoping to pick up duck to bring to a Thanksgiving dinner and noticed a huge line. I figured, 10 min tops. Boy was I wrong. They were basically waiting for each customer to order before cutting the duck even though 99% of the people waiting in line were BUYING DUCK!! At one point the line didnt move for a whole 7 min. The reason...somebody ordered 2 ducks‍. Either the staff are just plain oblivious and dumb or they were just too lazy to ask folks in the line what they planned to ordered so they could get it ready. This bad experience has now shifting to the other places that sell duck in the ID.

Cynthia S.

Yelp
Char Sui was for sure from the day before. Super dry and tasteless. Roast pork was better but I as I was there a new slab of roast pork came out but unfortunately I got the stuff that had been sitting in the case. It was warm but the fresh one looked hot but I'll never know because I would NEVER go back. Only went there because our FAV Kau Kau is closed on Tuesday. Oh and cash only. Luckily I had over $30 cash on me! Hard PASS!
google avatar

Mar C.

Yelp
Wow this place hasn't changed in years other than the prices. Roasted meats and poultry hang in a window. The interior is stark, small, authentic. The butcher and their white apron great you at the door. They sell by the pound and will chop things up for you at your request, or you can just get the whole piece. The roast pork is *the* item to get. We always get 2 lbs or more of the roast pork to take back home to Portland.
google avatar

Heather L.

Yelp
Fresh roast pork was good but got the end of it, but with fresh rice and duck sauce it tasted very good.
google avatar

Jim P.

Yelp
The shop isn't really much to look at, but the meats in the window is quite the photo op. I really wish they had more to offer, but what they do is pretty spot on in my opinion. Of course the BBQ pork is delicious, but my first time trying the roast pork blew my mind. Love this place.

Tom N.

Yelp
Our usual spot is kau kau BBQ but they were closed on a Tuesday and decided to give our 2nd favorite spot a try. I would now avoid this place at all cost. The meat is so salty and dry. Quite inedible and have to throw away the rest of it after a few bite. The staff is friendly and they still only accept cash only.
google avatar

Michelle F.

Yelp
I've been going to this place since as far back as I can remember. The bbq pork boxes were a quick and cost effective meal for a family of 4. The taste and quality of the bbq pork is just as great as I can remember. I look forward to hearing down to the International District, because that always included a stop by Kings! One thing though...they only accept cash.
google avatar

Vicki L.

Yelp
We got the bbq lunch box with roast duck and bbq ribs and both were very delicious. Cash only.

Faye W.

Yelp
Best BBQ roast duck in King county I think. This is my favorite item , ask for plum sauce in addition to their regular sauce. Also Is perfect for roast duck wonton noodle soup. Buy some wonton noodle and frozen wonton from nearby Asian stores. You can keep the duck skin crisp by popping briefly into any toaster oven. Be sure to add some green leafy veg to your roast duck wonton noodle soup meal. Enjoy.

Yelp
Not sure if we have enough meat? Did I get the hook up lol? So yummy !!! Lemme say that I've traveled this whole country many many times, from California to Florida all the way up to Maine, the Carolinas the Midwest. Many road trips. And I'm so thankful we chose to settle down so close to good food like this

Vinny P.

Yelp
Quality has gone down, I called and order bbq pig but they didn't even remove the pig hairs that was still on the cooked bbq.

Yelp
This place has gone downhill over the years. My family first started getting BBQ here 15 years ago. It was one of the best in Seattle. Large pieces of juicy BBQ meats with rice and veggies, huge portion, tasty and cheap! Unfortunately, that's not the case anymore. First I have to admit, I have since fell in love with other Chinese BBQ in the area and haven't returned to King's in years. Today I was getting bubble tea across the street and decided to give it another try since I haven't had it in years. I ordered 2 Chinese BBQ lunch boxes that is $7.95 each. You can choose 2 types of meat to go with your lunch box (which is just BBQ with plain rice.. used to come with veggies but not anymore) I got to choose 4 types of meats since I ordered 2 lunch boxes - BBQ pork, roasted pork, roasted duck, and roasted chicken. All bleh, not even mediocre. Duck is flavorful enough but still a lot of hair attached on the skin, which is a shame because roasted duck skin is the most flavorful part but I was forced to throw it away due to yucky hair. BBQ pork was dry, maybe because the pieces given to me didn't have any fat on it, very very lean, therefore very dry. Roasted pork belly NOT juicy at all, even with all the fat on the meat. Chicken was wow so hard I can't even swallow it I threw them away. I love Chinese BBQ so I am very lenient on the taste and usually not picky. But this was so disappointing. There are way way way better Chinese BBQ places nearby with much better quality meat. I will not return.

Yelp
I have loved this place for years! I decided to base my whole Christmas dinner (2020) on their delicious roast duck, BBQ ribs, and sausages. Magnificent! I spent about $250 bucks and fed the whole tribe 3 times! We had other stuff from Sichuanese Cuisine which was a perfect compliment. King's food is always fresh, always consistent with seasonings, and everyone is looking out for his brother with covid friendly behavior. Best duck in town! I'll be back for lunch soon!

Tiki P.

Yelp
Bought steamed duck yesterday, and there was only left, so I asked them this is duck fresh make today? They said yes! So I bought it, and planed to eat it this morning. But the duck meat and skins turned very dark like a left over from yesterday or the day before. I've been eating this kind of duck all my life. Do you think I don't know how the fresh make duck looks like! Please be honest to customers otherwise you will lose customers every day!
google avatar

Steven Z.

Yelp
Cash only. 10/10 for hole in the wall factor. They're quite generous with the bbq sauce that they ladle on, but it's not spectacular like it is at Harbor City. Prices and portion sizes are very reasonable. If you get the meat over rice combo, they don't give any vegetables so if you're into that sort of thing for some reason, tough luck. The BBQ pork and roast pork didn't have any super obvious good/bad qualities. More research needs to be done, but it's too inconvenient to come here often due to cash only.

Yelp
King's Barbecue House is a Chinese BBQ shop next to Yummy House Bakery and close to Uwajimaya. This is no restaurant, though they do offer BBQ rice plates. Everything here is takeaway. My go to Chinese BBQ places are Kau Kau and Ton Kiang in that order, with King's being my 3rd choice. Since I was running a little short on time, I decided to go to King's rather than walk the extra couple blocks to go to one of the other BBQ places. Picked up a half pound each of the roast pork ($8.50) and bbq pork ($7.75). Flavor was okay, though I think the other two places that I mention offer better versions of these two items. Reason being flavor and taste. It's not bad, but it could be better. Not to mention the pricing here seems a little higher since they need to add sales tax still. If you happen to swing by King's, I wouldn't rule against giving this place a try. It's totally fine. Though I think you might enjoy Kau Kau and Ton Kiang's offerings a bit more.

Yelp
My family has been coming to this store for god knows how long to buy roast duck. It's totally worth it because this is some of the best roast duck in town. Despite the accessible location of this store, its minimal presence on Yelp does not surprise me because it appeals to a very specific demographic. I guess that most Americans don't need to visit Chinese butcher shops, but my family does not fall into that category. Basically, this place is a butcher shop, though it is a bit on the small side. There is a very minimalistic approach to how they run things because aside from a menu and a few dead animals, there is not much inside this store. I'm not complaining, though, because evidently it works. They don't have the whole farm here hanging on hooks, but they don't need to because the business runs just fine. The roast duck here are $17.00 each, which sounds like a lot but is actually a good deal. There is a substantial amount of meat in that duck, plus it tastes great. The butcher will chop the duck up for you before your eyes and put the pieces in a tray, but with no gloves on. I would prefer that they refrain from touching ready-to-eat foods with their bare hands, but I've never gotten sick from here before. I've only had positive experiences from this store, so it gets a positive review from me.
