I found myself inviting my sister out to coffee on a late Monday morning. Tucked away on the corner of 400 South, this modern coffee shop is easily accessible and conveniently placed on a low traffic main street.
Upon entering Kings Peak Coffee Roasters, I noticed some spicy instrumental music filling what would be a rather small, and empty space. Yes, small, but cozy and cabin-like. I strolled around the counter, and was welcomed by a local regular. I told him I was meeting my sister for coffee while simultaneously taking notes and pictures for this review. He had shown me a couple of quirks in the shop including the extended record merchandise tucked away.
We were soon greeted by Carlos, a barista at Kings Peak. Carlos took our order and suggested some bakery goods; the Chocolate Cronought and Beehive Cake were both delicious, in case you were curious. I stuck with a safe almond milk latte, while surprising my sister with their seasonal almond mocha. Carlos was very attentive, spunky, and personable with every customer that walked through the door. He even brought us our goods when the order was complete. And not to forget he was working alone at the time!
My sister and I loved the local art that clad to the walls, as it added to the aesthetic. If you dive deeper into the shop, you'll find a narrow hallway that leads you to the Modern West, an art gallery.
Overall, I would recommend Kings Peak Coffee Roasters on a slow morning. The laid-back atmosphere is perfect for students studying solo or a place to catch up with someone.
