By the 145th Street A train station in Harlem, the answer is Kingston Bakery Harlem, a narrow storefront only accessible by a steep set of stairs, which lead into a takeout-only space that smells like years worth of just-out-of-the-oven patties. This red-and-yellow spot isn’t a place you need to go out of your way for, but it'll come in handy if you’re nearby and in need of a more substantial snack. "I found the patties at Kingston Bakery in Harlem fluffy and flaky and yellow from the addition of annatto, and there's no better patty in town. The spicy beef version is freighted with a coarser beef mince than usual, which gives it more body and flavor, and it's zapped with scotch bonnet peppers that add heat and perfume. To turn it into a meal you need a coco bread — at Kingston the coco bread is pulled from a steam cabinet so it’s still warm, and the patty fits into it perfectly ($5.50)." - Eater Staff
