"In a perfect world, we’d probably come to Kingston in Harlem every week just to get some juicy jerk chicken, drink a rum cocktail, and listen to loud reggae. And if you regularly sleep, work, or hang out near 116th Street, please live out this dream for us. This casual Caribbean and Jamaican spot works perfectly for a Friday night meet-up with a friend, or whenever you get sick of the late-night crowds at Harlem Tavern down the block (on weekends, Kingston stays open until 2am). The food, like curry goat and braised oxtail, is all pretty good - but the jerk chicken is outstanding. Instead of a dry rub, it’s covered in a vinegar-y sauce, which makes it nice and juicy. Whether you sit at the long bar staring into the eyes of a Bob Marley portrait, or on the sidewalk patio with some friends, come to Kingston to drink rum, eat some jerk chicken, and get a little rowdy. Food Rundown photo credit: Noah Devereaux Jerk Chicken This smoky chicken comes with some cabbage and your choice of festival or rice with peas. The sides are fairly forgettable, but the chicken itself is excellent. The skin is peppery and charred, and the meat stays perfectly juicy and tangy. It’s our favorite thing here. Oxtails Our second favorite entree on the menu. These braised oxtails are tender and fatty, and come in an almost-sugary brown sauce. Curry Goat The curry goat isn’t as exciting as the chicken. The thick sauce tastes like the innermost soul of an onion, but the goat itself is a bit dry. Plantains These plantains will take up every square inch of your attention when you’re eating them. They’re sticky, gooey, and not too sweet. No meal here is complete without them on the side." - Hannah Albertine

My friend and I went there for a Day party on Memorial day which at 12 noon and ends at 10pm. They had a DJ whom was great! He played the early 2000s music. It's a West Indian restaurant so they served food but no dancing, lol. Everyone was just dancing in their seats. The food was just ok. I had the fish and my friend had the oxtail. The meat was good but the rice and beans was so so. It could be better. The service was really good. We paid $25 for 1.5 hrs of mimosas but on evenbrite it says for$20. The establishment hasn't changed their prices yet. Well, overall, it was a good experience.

Decided to support a local business... I ordered the jerk chicken dinner. The chicken itself was good, great level of spice but reminded me of baked chicken nothing special. The rice and cabbage were basic (not much seasoning) for a $16 meal I expected more. I took my food to go but had a rum punch ($12) at the bar which was really good. Maybe I'll return for the drinks.

The customer service is good. Scratch the customer service. We had to remind waitress of what was ordered. The water (Tap) they didnt let the water run so it tasted like fishbowl water so we stepped out to get water bottles. if you are coming for food the mac and cheese was dry no flavor. And hard as hell. DONT DO IT! The chicken was ok.

Came here on a Saturday night with some friends. Cute ambiance and super friendly staff, which made the meal more enjoyable. However, I didn't love my curry goat. So I would say the food was just a okay, but might be fun to come just for drinks and snacks and chat with friends. There was also a DJ that came later in the night but the place wasn't very busy so not sure how fun it would've been to stay and dance... because I like more of a crowd when dancing.

Delicious food and super friendly service. We came late at night with a large party and the waitress wasn't even phased: she treated us better than other places would during the middle of the day. The fried plantains are the perfect mix of sweet and savory. The goat curry was incredible, but they were sadly out of roti by the time we arrived. I would highly recommend this place for laid back dinners.

Kingston is a really nice restaurant in the midst of Harlem. In the middle of all the soul food and African restaurants, it is nice to have a Caribbean offering as well. What I like most about this establishment is the service and the music. They play classic reggae tracks that if you are a fan, you love the atmosphere. The server was also extremely nice and police and that was a big plus for me. We ordered the oxtail and the curry goat. The curry goat was very salty sadly and uneatable., and my brother had the same experience with it when he went before me so that is their main drawback. However, the oxtail was pretty good and I heard their salmon is great as well. However, a bunch of stuff on their menu was not present when we went to dine there, which was a big disappointment because we had to keep switching our order. For the music and ambiance alone, though, I would recommend this place, along with if you order the right item.

Great food, great service, great vibe! Small but mighty is how we describe this place! The curry goat was tenser and full of flavor. The rum punch was yummy (and strong) and the bartender / waitress was friendly and attentive. Very authentic food and atmosphere!
