The 16 Best Ice Cream Spots In Los Angeles

"At Old Town Pasadena’s Kinrose Creamery, toppings are just as important as the ice cream. The flavors at this former Smorgasburg vendor turned brick-and-mortar draw from Iran, Egypt, and across the Middle East—stretchy Egyptian mint, lavashak, saffron pistachio rose—and each scoop comes topped with eye-grabbing garnishes like rose buds or phyllo crumble. Our favorite might be the sour cherry flavor hidden under a cloud of Persian fairy floss: the fancy cotton candy melts on your tongue and balances the tart ice cream. Kinrose serves a tight list of eight flavors, but limited choices aren’t an issue when they're all this elaborate and delicious." - brant cox, nikko duren, sylvio martins, jess basser sanders

Kinrose Creamery specializes in Persian and Egyptian-inspired flavors, like flaky kanafeh, saffron-pistachio-rose, and sour cherry with a tiny cloud of Iranian cotton candy. They also plan to roll out our limited-time flavors for holidays like Ramadan and Nowruz." - Sylvio Martins

This place has been in my bookmarks for so long and I finally got the chance to go try it. The flavors are so unique, but my friend and I went with one of the bestsellers: the Walnut Baklava. Every ice cream comes with its own topping, which in this case is the baked baklava bits on top. It also comes with a super tiny and cute flower bud that I was tempted to eat (thinking, maybe it's edible? maybe it's one of the toppings and a part of the experience?) but ultimately didn't. The store is manned by twins, who were, at all times, helpful and professional. The ice cream itself is pretty good and I do believe the more than a year wait in my bookmarks was well worth the experience and expense.

I cannot explain how amazing this ice cream was. I’m Persian so when I came across this place I was super excited. I’ve never come across a concept like this before. There was a line to get in (rightly so). Even though there was a line we didn’t have to wait too long. The staff were super friendly. I got the Sheer aroz and saffron pistachio rose. I honestly thought my mouth was in heaven. It was incredible and especially as I’ve grown up with these flavours it was so amazing to experience it in a different way. I’m not from the US but because of my work I come to Pasadena a lot during the year, I cannot wait to come back and try the other flavours. I wish we had this in the UK. I am obsessed. They also have a vegan/dairy free option.

Ahhhhhhmazing!!! Must visit! We visited Kinrose Creamery on a fall Friday night, and were drawn in by the jazzy duet playing live music on the patio. Upon entering, we were met with a warm atmosphere of patrons of all backgrounds vibing together, waiting to try an ice cream flavor. The sign outside says "ice cream with Middle Eastern roots," so we were curious and wanted to give it a try. It's a quaint space that is set up so well with thoughtful new age decor. The chairs are unique and remind me of the Jetsons. There's a cool comfy couch at the front window, PacMan and Ms. Pac Man, cacti, and some cool cartoon framed art on the wall that you can scope out while you wait to order. We were here for 35 minutes from entry to exit. There were about 10 people in line in front of us, but the line moved quickly. We sampled a few flavors and settled on Sour Cherry with Fairy Floss, Saffron Pistachio Rose, and Walnut Baklava. Absolutely must try!! The Sour Cherry was so creamy!! The Fairy Floss (candy Floss) was trippy. Lol. It's definitely not cotton candy, but it's so cool and such an interesting accent. I really liked it. The Saffron was surprisingly good and fascinating. Again, super creamy, the rose flavor really comes through, and the pistachios added an extra layer of flavor and crunch. The Walnut Baklava is a fan favorite. Creamy brown sugar walnut ice cream dipped in bits of baklava. We will most definitely be back!

Oh my god... I was passing by and just noticed this "hidden" gem. This unsuspecting alleyway with the jazz restaurant, dog bakery, and pub now includes an amazing, well-rounded ice cream shop. Upon entering this ice cream shop, it welcomes guests with bright colors and paintings along the walls and plenty of seating by the large windows (perfect for a California spring weather). Looking at the menu, the options are not large but aren't timid. The shop hones in on the best of the best. They allow samples of their interesting and delicious ice creams. Without the basic "vanilla and chocolate," the options are the best. I would recommend the ice creams that include saffron and if you are not a hater of mint chocolate ice cream to get the mint chip. I got the pistachio rose saffron ice cream. Not once while enjoying the desert have I crunched on ice. It melted perfectly on my tongue while not melting too fast in the cup. It's a perfect sweet treat in the summer. It doesn't melt too fast! The flavor js not too big, and all of the ingredients do not overpower each other. I will definitely be coming back for more!

Great, unique ice cream flavors here. Most of the flavors come with a corresponding topping, making it more than just a regular scoop of ice cream. Definitely worth checking out. Don’t skip out on the Sheer Aroz. It might be one of the less “exciting” flavors, but WOW it’s good.

Wow !!! This ice cream place is a hidden gem. Love all the flavors. It was hard to decide I already want to go back !! We got the knafeh and the cherry .. did a split scoop it’s smaller but they were both so good ! The price is a little steep but I think it was worth it !
