11 Great Puerto Rican Restaurants In NYC

"Kiosko 787 serves crispy empanadillas, arroz mamposteao, and big stacks of mofongo with your choice of protein from a streetside counter in Gowanus. Inspired by the street food kiosks of Piñones and Luquillo Beach, this place also makes a solid Cubano stuffed with big fistfuls of roasted pork, as well as a few other sandwiches like a tripleta and a grilled cheese on pressed pan de agua. The operation is takeout-only, but there are a few chairs and folding tables out front where you can hang out and eat your pernil." - marisel salazar, bryan kim

Where To Eat In Gowanus

"For a quick lunch in the area, check out Kisoko 787. The extra-slim, periwinkle-blue storefront serves a takeout-only menu of Puerto Rican classics like arroz mamposteao and gooey-on-the-inside guava and cheese empanadillas. The pernil is well-marinated, and the thick Cubano has a crispy, golden brown outside, and a soft, mustardy inside. And if the scent of roast pork convinces you that you won’t possibly be able to wait until you get home to have your first bite, there are a couple tables out front where people consume large amounts of mofongo on their lunch breaks." - bryan kim, carina finn koeppicus, willa moore

Kiosko 787 - Review - Gowanus - New York - The Infatuation

"When you need a quick lunch that’ll make you feel something, check out Kiosko 787. This place operates out of a periwinkle blue storefront in Gowanus—the former home of My Cuban Spot—and serves a takeout-only menu of Puerto Rican classics like arroz mamposteao and gooey-on-the-inside guava and cheese empanadillas. The picadillo-filled relleno de papa is one of the best in town, the pernil is well-marinated and comes with a big side of arroz con gandules, and the Cubano is almost as good as the previous tenant’s version. If you don’t want to drag your food home, eat your roast pork at a folding table out front." - Bryan Kim

I came here with my friends on a rainy day, and let me tell you — this food was exactly what we needed to turn the day around. We started off with drinks: two passionfruit juices and one mango juice. My passionfruit juice was so cold, refreshing, and bursting with flavor that I had to stop myself from finishing it in two gulps — it completely hit the spot. Next up, we shared some pastelillos (two beef, one beef & cheese). They came out piping hot, golden, and absolutely stuffed with the most flavorful beef I’ve ever had in a pastelillo. A solid 10/10. For our mains, we ordered the Arroz Mamposteao De La Casa and the Pollo Guisado. The arroz was a beautiful medley of chopped sweet plátanos, beans, pork belly, and more — every bite was a whole new experience, and it was to die for. But my absolute favorite was the pollo guisado: tender, fall-off-the-bone stewed chicken soaking in a rich, savory gravy. I’m drooling just thinking about it! To finish, we shared a tres leches cake, and let me tell you — this is the first time I’ve ever truly enjoyed a tres leches. Creamy, moist, and not overly sweet… trust me, this is your sign to order one. The vibe of the place is vibrant and cozy, with colorful decor that feels warm and welcoming. Seating is a bit limited, so I recommend making a reservation if you can. Walk-ins are fine too, but you might have to wait a little. All in all, this was an unforgettable meal — easily a 10/10 — and I can’t wait to come back and try even more. Even better, it’s walking distance from my house! So happy to have this gem in the neighborhood. 😁 ✨ For more foodie gems like this, follow @blaze_eatsnyc on Instagram!

Google
Hidden Gem! I had family visiting from North Carolina, and we decided to try Kiosko for dinner last night. I can't say enough good things about this place! Upon entering, you instantly feel transported from Brooklyn to Puerto Rico. We kicked off our meal with tostones and garlic sauce, which were simply delicious! My grandmother ordered the pernil, and it was not only super tasty but also served in a generous portion. As for me, I chose the octopus salad, and it was one of the best I’ve ever had—so fresh and full of flavor! This place is a must-visit, and I will 100% be back! Also, thank you Nestor for being so accommodating and answering all of our questions about the menu! So many good options to choose from

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Kiosko787. We were early for our reservation time but were seated promptly. The atmosphere of the place, starting from when you walk up is such a vibe. It really did remind me of a little cocinera in Old San Juan. Great photo op. Inside is the same. Paintings of Puerto Rican culture line the walls, even in the bathroom. The decor screams PR. There's even a small section where you can buy little trinkets and stuff. The service was great, considering most of the tables were full. The alcapurrias were delicioso, there's one with bacalao that's worth a shot, too. The chuleta kan kan was fried perfectly, crispy but still juicy, and the cuero (skin) was crunchy and flavorful. Loved the tostones and the rice and beans as well. Would definitely come back around. Gave the food 4 of 5 only because my partner and I felt it could use a bit more sabor, but this is also Park Slope and not Spanish Harlem, so I can understand not being so heavy on the Adobo lol. Just note there is no alcohol served here, so it's either sodas and fruit drinks or virgin Piña Coladas. Didn't bother us, but it's worth mentioning just in case you're expecting Medallas and Rum. Shout to the owner Al who was there and checked on us. Can't wait to come back!!!

Google
Absolute Charm. We finally had our chance to visit this little Puerto Rican Restaurant in Brooklyn and we were amazed on the mixture of flavors. Everything from the alcapurria to the Pernil and mofongo was just super traditional. The vibe definitely brings me back to Puerto Rico. Aracelly was our server and she was super attentive. We had the chance to meet the owner and he was also very personable. Prices are not bad for the amount of food we got. Please make reservations if you dont want to wait. Definitely will be coming back. Don't miss out on this delicious food.

My sister raved about this place as she saw it on social media so when I came to town we had to hit this place up. The front of the business is super cute. Vibrant colors and Puerto Rico Representation. Inside the place it so cute and cozy. There is limited dinning space so I would recommend to make reservations. Here is what we ordered and loved : Drinks : jugos naturales mango, parcha and guanábana Eats: picadera platter which serves 3-4 ppl, alcapurria de yuca and jueyes, and good ol rice and beans.

Google
Kiosko 787 is fantastic. Just looking at the front door and decorations inside makes you feel at home and the food is amazing. They even serve tostones de pana, which are impossible to find outside Puerto Rico, and the pastelon (ground beef layered with friend plantains and cheese) tasted like my childhood. (plus the dish was so generous that I had 2 leftover portions), if you're vegetarian, they have options, including the beans which don't include ham and delicious yuca. We had virgin Piña Coladas that also taste like the ones from home. I love this place! Reservations are a must, it is tiny.

Google
This place is so awesome. I have been searching for a while for a true Puerto Rican restaurant for the family to enjoy. The pernil and chicharron de pollo almost made us cry. True authentic Boricua flavor lives here. And the accapuria sent my husband back to PR. Gracias🇵🇷 from my husband and I🇭🇹❤️🙏🏼

Yelp
First time coming here. I love how the restaurant looks like a home in Puerto Rico. Once inside you are greeted and seated . They have a small amount of tables which I love because everyone will be serviced and checked over. The waitress was kind and helpful. Now to the food. The food was delicious. You can't go wrong with some rice and beans. Yes they do serve a hefty plate. This restaurant gives off visiting family vibe which is great for a restaurant.

Yelp
This place is absolutely terrible! I came here on my birthday, they said I had to reserve on OpenTable for an hour after which I did. I made the mistake of reserving for two instead of three and they told us we needed to wait another 45 minutes only to sit a Caucasian couple in front of us that seemed to have been asked if they had a reservation and nodded no, yet got seated immediately! I had a Puerto Rican cap on and am a nuyore rican and it was my birthday! The lady in the front made me feel outcasted, dismissed and disrespected! I could never have imagined that they would do this to people from their own culture!!! Shame on you! Update: I had to include and update because for some reason yelp will not allow me to respond directly to the owner. However, I felt that this was extremely important to post. Here is my response to the owners prior comment and proof of harassment and disrespect. And before you ask, I have it all saved on my phone for evidence: Fortunately for me, you do not know how to control your impulses and called me twice after the review. Once from the business phone, and once from a cell 'calling me a 'so-called Bori', also texted me calling me the Nuyorican self entitled type', a 'so called Boricua' and even wrote in a comment to not come back and to Vete Pa... and left me the room to figure out the rest. That is called harassment. Needless to say, I am extremely hurt by this ordeal. This is not the type of behavior that should be normalized coming from a business owner and a fellow Boricua. I am beside myself and needless to say, it will take a long time for me to get over being dismissed, disrespected and harassed all in the same night. And on my birthday nonetheless. I'm know that I messed up by adding 2 instead of 3 on OpenTable by accident, but that still did not warrant such a visceral response toward another human being because that is what we all are at the end of the day. Unfortunately, due to your lack of impulse control, that was totally thrown out the window yesterday. I will never come to this place again per request of the owner. Sorry to have drawn your ire! Update: Now you're making up lies that I was rude with your staff because she was standoffish as soon as we walked in. And if you were really paying attention, my colleague that was with me did the majority of the talking! You my friend have to be the most narcissistic person in Brooklyn because you have the audacity to flat out lie about someone instead of practice good decorum and good customer service!!!!! Lying about someone's behavior to distract people from the fact that you have terrible customer service is not going to work here pal!!! I wasn't originally trying to tear down your business, but you my friend do not deserve to have a business if you're going to treat patrons like this!!!! I implore the other patrons that gave you one star as well to ban together to shut you down!!!! Because you answered them just as rudely as you answered me on Yelp, however you made up a lie about me because I'm the one you couldn't bully into submission!!! Good luck with you're business because it will not last long due to your rotten behavior!!!!!

Yelp
Stepping into this spot felt like being transported straight to Puerto Rico--specifically the heart of Luquillo Beach! From the moment you walk in, the decor, the souvenirs, the music, and the vibe wrap you in island warmth. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. They made us feel right at home from the start, and the food came out impressively fast--no long wait times here! Every dish we tried was a 10 out of 10--flavorful, fresh, and true to authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. It honestly felt like a home-cooked meal straight from the island. One thing to note: the space is very small, so I highly recommend making a reservation before heading over. Walk-ins are tough, especially on busy nights--you might end up waiting or not getting a table at all. That said, they were able to seat our group of six on a Friday night thanks to a reservation, which was such a pleasant surprise. If you're in Brooklyn and craving a true taste of Puerto Rico, this place is absolutely worth the visit. It lives up to the hype and then some. A total gem!

Yelp
Finally went yesterday for lunch and tried them out. It's a small place but it's so nice. It has lot of Puerto Rico pictures and memorabilia, it felt like you are there instead of NY. The hospitality/customer service was great!!! The food was delicious, everything was sooooooooooo yummy! Definitely go try it, you won't be disappointed at all! Definitely will be going back!

Yelp
I decided to try Kiosko 787 and ordered a quesitos, plain Mofongo, shrimp Mofongo, rice, beans and tostones to go. It's a very cute spot - love the decor. We were bummed when we stopped at a rest stop on our way to MD that they forgot utensils and mayo ketchup (I paid for extra two more). We got some forks and started to dig in. The plain Mofongo was good and flavorful. However the rice was hard and the beans needed more seasoning. My husband wasn't a fan of the shrimp, but liked the sauce and ate with the Mofongo. The tostones were okay, but the garlics flavor sauce did it justice. Quesitos were okay. I will go back for the plain mofongo.

Yelp
Instead of taking the time to respond to all of the reviews and being defensive, you should take the advice and apply it to making your business better. Phil's Crummy Corner's Food was amazing. Your food was average at best. I'm happy to pay higher prices if the food is worth it, but it was not.

Yelp
If you're looking for truly authentic Puerto Rican food in Brooklyn, Kiosko 787 is the spot. This small but mighty restaurant has built a strong reputation for its incredible flavors and authenticity. That being said, because of its popularity and intimate size, it's highly recommended to make a reservation--especially on weekends. Even with a reservation, you might still have to wait, so it's best to come with grace and patience. The staff is small but hardworking, doing their best to accommodate everyone who wants to experience their food. Checking in is easy--you can tap in at the front, send a text to confirm your spot, and you'll receive a message when your table is ready. There's not much space inside to wait, so if it's cold, you may have to tough it out or find a nearby spot to stay warm. While waiting, you can browse their small selection of Puerto Rico-themed souvenirs, which add a nice touch. They also play videos showcasing the island, which is a beautiful nostalgic experience, especially for those of us who've been visiting Puerto Rico since childhood. Once we were finally seated, my aunt and I had already looked at the menu, so we were ready to order. I started with the Coquito Frappe--it was so good I had to grab another one to go. For my main dish, I went with pernil and arroz gandules, and when I say it was amazing, I mean AMAZING. Every bite was packed with rich, traditional flavors, and even though I was stuffed, I made sure to save some for later. I also treated myself to an alcapurria as a little appetizer, and it was absolutely perfect. Service was slow, but understandably so. With only two people handling everything--waiting tables, answering calls, and managing takeout orders--it's clear they are working as hard as they can. If you're planning to visit, just know that things move at a more relaxed pace, so don't have anything urgent planned right after. This is a place where you sit back, enjoy, and take in the experience. Final thoughts: Kiosko 787 is a gem. The food is beyond delicious, the atmosphere is warm and nostalgic, and while service takes time, it's well worth the wait. If you're in the area, definitely check it out--maybe try a weekday visit if you prefer a less busy experience. Either way, it's worth every bite!

Yelp
Lunch for 2 about 70 bucks. Food was tasty. Chuleta cancan was great. Arroz con gandules was superb--just like my mom's. The mofongo was nice and tender and the chicharron add on for .75 cents gave it a nice flavor. Inside is small and cute with Puertorican decor and salsa music playing low in the background. Looks like it seats about 20. We went without a reservation and the tables remained full for the most part. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. We received excellent service from our waitress.. Note: I left a negative review when they first opened but they are now definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
I came here a few months ago but loved it so much I figured it's never too late to write a review. I'd been planning on visiting Kiosko 787 for months before I finally went, and it did not disappoint. Growing up immersed in Puerto Rican culture and having visited the island on several occasions, I had pretty much given up on finding Puerto Rican food in NYC that truly hits like it does in PR. Kiosko 787 completely changed that for me and I only wish I lived closer so I can go more often. It is a small space so make reservations or plan accordingly, it will be worth the wait. I went on a Thursday around 5pm and had no problem getting a table. Can't wait for my next visit!
google avatar

Akilah R.

Yelp
The food is decent. The bacalaitos are good, camarofongo could use more garlic sauce or salsa criolla, the bistec and onions were good. I think the acapurria de jueye (crab) hit or miss. I liked it, my companion didn't. The habichuelas were ok, I like mine better. There's room to grow but I appreciated a taste of PR.
google avatar

Willie G.

Yelp
The Authentic Puerto Rican Food is really good. I had the basics: the Rice with Gondules, Roast Pork, Alcapurrias, Patelles, and Three Leche Cake, all of it good. Yes I O.D'd a bit. And drank a Good'O Coke. Like many things good, come ready to wait and to take your food, because the place is popular and seating is very limited and tight. So my tip, make your order to go, go to the Whole Foods near by, for a quick shop and come back for your order, two birds with the same stone!

Robi C.

Yelp
Puerto Rican food done right! Service was great! The whole place has decorations across the wall reminiscent of the island ! I will be coming back!

Yelp
I ordered through an app, would like to give 5 but I can't because I was dissatisfied with the price compared to the portion received. The price for a cup/appetizer of octopus salad, $19. Also, if tostones are added the price is $25. When a dish is advertised as a salad it the right amount of protein mixed with the "greens". On the other hand, Kiosk serves a Mofongo-Bacalaito fritter, recommended hands down. The delivery time was reasonable I am looking forward to visit Kiosk, the facade is super cute, with the "Old San Juan" vibe

Yelp
My family and I were looking forward to experiencing and enjoying a taste from my island on Easter Sunday. We were all quite disappointed to state the least. I came across this cute spot via social media. The videos and pictures were mouth watering. Therefore I did not expect the disappointment. The ambiance was cute, felt like I stopped at a spot on the highway in PR. However, the food not so much. The rice was not cooked all the way. The beans needed more seasoning. I get it, we can add salt and pepper as desired. However, approximately $40 per meal, total bill was $222, for rice, beans and fried pork/chicken, I shouldn't have to. I can get the same with a bigger portion for half the price and taster in my own neighborhood. The pork chop 'khan khan' was much smaller than advertised. Both the pork chop, chicharron de pollo and macitas, were all over cooked. I tasted a good amount of adobo but definitely missing acidity. The mofongo was very bland, and the 'sauce' to pour over, was nothing but olive oil, not much seasoning or tang. I can continue, but I think we captured the point. Although I do not mind spending or driving anywhere for food, I left feeling like I should've cooked at home instead of driving from Jersey to Brooklyn. Also, reading the defensive and condescending responses to the constructive criticism reviews from the owner, leaves little to be desired. I am hopeful they had a bad day considering some of the positive reviews. MAYBE I will give them another opportunity since PuertoRican restaurants are hard to find. I dislike leaving a negative review, however as a Rican, I want you and this establishment to prosper. If growth and consistency is the goal, You're almost there, Bendiciónes!

Yelp
Don't bother going there on a weekend without a reservation, and even with one you'll still end up waiting! I arrived 20 minutes ahead of my reservations and still was seated an hour later. The food was good, but it was room temperature not hot at all. The space is very tiny so there's not much room and if visiting in the winter bring your sweater, the door constantly opening, makes it very cold. All in all it was good dinner and the servers were nice.
google avatar

Chris G.

Yelp
The menu here is fantastic, offering a wide range of delicious homemade Puerto Rican dishes. I highly recommend trying the mofongo with steak. It's absolutely amazing, and I highly suggest pairing it with the garlic sauce and a little bit of their homemade pique hot sauce. The owner is super friendly and shared his story about how the restaurant came to be. The ambiance is great in a cozy neighborhood setting.

Yelp
Cute place but very small (we were unable to fit our stroller inside). They did their best to accommodate us and provided a high chair. Please be mindful there is no changing table in the bathroom so it's really not the most baby friendly space. The manager/owner was kind and greeted us as we were 10 minutes late for our reservation he still accommodated us despite people waiting outside. We did still have a long wait for our table (about 45 minutes). The servers were not very kind or welcoming. We asked for a cup of hot water and she told us she could not give it to us initially.... we were taken back by this thinking how can you cook without having any hot water ? Then after a few explanations, the lady then said ok and brought us the water. We weren't sure what the issue was as it was a simple question as the hot water was needed to just place a jar of baby food in to warm up while we waited for our food. The food was good, however I do feel it was a tad bit over priced for the amount of food we received. The food came in paper dishes and we ate from plastic utensils as our appetizer plate alone was priced at $34. I feel if we are going to pay that much for a dish then better service and silverware would help set the mood. We asked for hot sauce and never got it. We ordered a flan and they originally gave us tres leches. When the server came she was hovering over us as we tried to provide feedback and the tip. There seems to be a disconnect from the severs and the customers. I do really feel with better service and a larger space this restaurant could really earn 5 stars since the food was delicious.

Yelp
The Puerto Rican pastel was very hard and not fresh. Also the Spanish style steak with onions tasted like it was fresh the day before. Service was good. The blonde hostess can be friendlier. BTW I am Puerto Rican, the xxxxxxx steak and onions did taste off, the pastel needs more calabaza less plátanos verde. Otherwise good, room for growth. Gracias

Yelp
I was not going to mention the 1 hour wait but I have to. If anything, just so people are aware and ready. To wait an hour for a Cuban sandwich and 3 empanadas (to go) is a bit much. Just sayin, just sayin. Moving on! The place itself is cozy inside (apretao). The empanadas were average in taste to be honest. Reminded me of the Cuchifrito spots in Spanish Harlem. The Cuban though, was banging! I haven't had a Cuban this good in quite a while..definitely worth the wait on the sandwich. The owner was hanging out outside with his family and seemed like a nice guy with a great personality. Will definitely come back to try their other menu items.

Yelp
I've had Kiosko 787 bookmarked for a hot minute and finally tried it when I was in the area today (Nov. 29). Out the gate, Kiosko 78's Puerto Rican ambiance is spot-on. When I tell you it's goodbye congested 3rd Ave and Carroll St and hello to Puerto Rico, I mean it. Yes, the establishment is teeny tiny but Kiosko 787 did a great job capturing the essence of the island. I especially love the (faux?) balcony. However, the empanadas left me with mixed feelings. The shell, reminiscent of wonton strips, erred on the side of blandness. I sampled both the beef and cheese, as well as the sofrito chicken empanadas. While the chicken won the flavor contest, both proteins could have benefited from an extra umph. The saving grace came in the form of ketchup mayo and guava hot sauce, providing a much-needed burst of flavor. The guava hot sauce crept up on the back of my throat unexpectedly, which I wasn't mad about. I am a fan of the Puerto Rican guava hot sauce. It's good. I appreciated the thoughtful touch of having the names of the empanada fillings printed on the paper sandwich wrappers; nice attention to detail that caught my eye.

Yelp
Home cooked Puerto Rican food at its best. Of course, in Brooklyn! The service was friendly and attentive and the ambience brought me back to the days... the play list in the background was also solid.

Yelp
This time around I had the crispy chicken chunks, white rice, and red beans with tostones. This time around we had to make a reservation I think it's all the instagram and Facebook stories that it's crowded on weekends. The chicken was seasoned well and tasty, and crunchy. The rice was moist. The red beans was delicious. The beans had pieces of potatoes and pumpkin in it. The tostones were thin and crunchy. The waiter was very nice and friendly. The decoration and salsa music make you feel like you back in PR. I think bad bunny new album and the social media pictures is making this one of the best PR restaurants.

Yelp
My wife and I where so Excited to try this place out. Only to be disappointed. We got 4 alcapurias beef and crab and they were both raw on the inside and burnt on the outside. We spent $28 dollars to through it in the garbage. What a disappointment to our ancestors. I will never go back.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon while running errands. Small storefront with two outside tables while weather permits. The menu offers an eclectic array of Puerto Rican dishes. We opted for Alcapurria , beef Empanada and Rellano de Papa since we were on the go. We had a chance to chat with Al the owner so the time we waited for our food flew by. All three appetizers were hot, fresh and most importantly delicious!! They offer more extensive meals which we will try again on another occasion. They offer delivery via Door Dash so we will keep them on speed dial.

Yelp
The first time I went m, it was good--the second time, it was great! New chef, more love. The real deal. Come and enjoy for some authentic PR food!

Yelp
Absoluetely LOVED Kiosko 787. Saw lots of good things on TikTok so my mom & I took the trip to Carroll Street. We heard about the long wait times so we arrived right at opening time, 11am, on a Thursday. We were seated immediately and with some light conversation with our friedly waitress, our order was taken. To drink, we had Kola Champagne and a Coke. We started with tostones de pana, an empanadilla with beef & cheese, a bacalaito and a pastel. For mains, we ordered a Mampo Wampo (mamposteo) with steak as well as the Pernil with arroz con gandules. The food was spectacular! The team is very transparent about the fact that the dishes come out as they are ready and not all at once. I prefer that so as to eat everything hot & fresh. It's a small space with an even smaller staff but we felt right at home. My mom brought a small gift, a vinyl picture of OSJ in Puerto Rico. The owner, Al, was a really sweet guy. We talked with him for a while and he was so grateful for the gift and he gave us SO MANY recommendations for our upcoming trips to the island. Overall, we had an amazing experience and we can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Awesome little place. The best Puerto Rican food I have ever eaten in a restaurant. The flavor is spot on without being overpowering: I did not taste an overdose of Sazon, garlic or grease in anything at all . The alcapurrias were all delicious esp the crab . The pork chop kan kan was unbelievable, crispy outside but tender inside; the pulled pork was for me a tad salty But my companions loved it. The arroz con gandules was perfect. The pastele!!! Cooked in a banana leaf as it should be, the masa was the perfect texture and filling was delicious, included a touch of onion pepper and other vegetable with lots of meat as it should. Even the salads were taken seriously. I found the tres leches cake a little too sweet but again others in our party loved it. Food was fab. Portion size was good. Services was kind. Atmosphere very casual and tables a bit crowded. Only surprise was that most PR restaurants will serve arroz con pollo, asopao, and .... A PR restaurant without avocado in the salad? OK well they don't do those. We will be going back.

Yelp
I ordered a surullo, bacalaito & alcapurria de guineo. I understand that all of these are fried at the same time it seems as if instead of letting it sit under paper towels to soak up some of the grease it was just packed up which ended up with a greasy mess. Surullo: la masa was overly sweet and had no contrast just sugary flavor was very greasy and the whole thing with cream cheese and guava? Meh. It kind of works but it's not your traditional one with just cheese. Bacalaito: had good flavor Alcapurria: came with a lot of meat inside which was good and the flavor was okay too Now as far as the rest of the food I'd like to go back and taste and see how it is. I don't know why but there's not many Puerto Rican places you can find and to have establishments like these are great to have. Let's see. In reply to the owner: In my review I did start out by saying that I am cognizant of the fact that what I ordered are fried foods at the same time it felt as if they weren't handled properly by at least letting it sit under paper towels to soak up some of the grease and then being packed up to go. Now my impression for el Sorullo it is in fact overly sweet but then again everyone has their own taste. For me it had no contrast...no salt to balance out the sugar on top of sugar. Also when ordering el sorullo I asked at the front if that's the only one you guys offered and I was told yes and on the menu it doesn't have another option in written form. Therefore, where's the sorullo con queso de papa? No se? Tal vez cuando vaya otra vez? Everyone cooks differently even with being boricuas--you will not find the same sazón everywhere and that's okay. My review is based on my 1st impressions with the food I ordered.

Yelp
We didn't expect the place to be so small, but it's full of big flavor and even bigger heart. The food was beyond delicious--truly spectacular--and the people who work there are absolutely lovely. You can feel the love in every dish. The alcapurria de yuca --OMG, so good! The pernil was juicy and packed with amazing flavor, and my husband had the chuleta kan kan... just WOW. Everything was on point. Highly, highly recommend!

Yelp
I seen a few food influencers come here and always wanted to go but could never make the time to get out to Brooklyn and by chance I stumbled upon it on my way to a job site so I had to stop by and I am so glad that I did as they far exceeded my expectations! I only did take out as I was on the go but the service was great very friendly and inviting and the food was delicious just as good as places in Puerto Rico if not better, I will definitely be back! Highly recommend you try this place for yourself!

Yelp
Came here for a friend's birthday and we had an amazing time. Accommodation: We were super happy that the manager was able to accommodate our party of 5. He was super friendly and also attentive making sure we were enjoying ourselves. Ambiance: I felt like I was in a restaurant back in Old San Juan. The decor, the paintings, the balcony. Paying homage to PR. Food: The food was absolutely delicious. For starters we order the sampler plate and some empanadas and a acapuria. All were flavorful and delicious. Acapuria had the right amount on seasoning on the masa (very important). For entrees, I had the pernil with rice and peas and it was well seasoned. Rice was short grain again just like PR and delicious as well. My friends had a steak sandwich, steak with rice and beans, Mofongo and the red snapper and they all enjoyed it. My favorite side were the beans (you can just taste the freshness) and the tostones with ajo (you can just never have enough garlic) For dessert we had the flan and quesitos and I absolutely loved the flan. I will definitely come back.

Yelp
This place is super cute. I've been waiting to try it for awhile. The lady at the front was super sweet. I've been to Puerto Rico so I was so happy to find this authentic restaurant. The bacalito looked and smelled like the ones you used to get in PR from street vendors. Unfortunately it was soooooo salty it was borderline inedible. Didnt soak it enough or added too much salt. Otherwise it would have been perfect. The pernil was so well made. One of the bests I have tasted but the salt was also so much. They need to look into that. I've seen other reviews complaining about salt. The rice was perfection. I'll be back to try other dishes. Hopefully the cook \ owner take this honest review in stride.

Yelp
I actually didn't get to eat but the service is indicative of the place, in my opinion. Found myself in Brooklyn and decided to go it was early afternoon on a Saturday and there were 3 tables empty. I did not have a reservation. I asked for a table was told to give them a minute and was then told to add myself to the wait list. I did and asked very nicely in English and Spanish if they had a sense of how long it could be. I received a shoulder shrug and nothing else. The overall interaction was bizarre and their attitude, well it sucked. First it's a very tiny place maybe 10 tables. Second I work in hospitality and am overly nice to restaurant workers bc I get it. The lack of vocabulary and taking 2 minutes to speak to a person, for me spoke volumes. Third I received a text and it said you are on the waitlist, check to see the list. When I clicked there was no one on the list. Fourth if you had reservations coming in, then use your voice to form words and tell me that. Another option would be to tell me we have a reservation coming in at xx time if you can finish within the hour I can seat you. Basically learn to communicate, the eye avoidance and basic rudeness is not necessary there is a reason it's called the hospitality business. Unfortunately I will not give them another try because for me service is everything. If you can't communicate I will go to another restaurant or make some good Puerto Rican food at home.

Yelp
I found a lil gem in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. A small piece of PR. The service was promote as I ordered to go. The place is adorned with PR artistry. Looked like a Kiosko in PR hence the name. The food was very flavorable and the portion was good. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
Wepa. 787 the Puerto Rican area code is bringing spice to the former Cuban spot. Its a hit from the jump and the Puerto Rican soul food brings depth of flavor like rich pinto beans, bowls with roast pork & more, sandwiches & empanadas. Can't wait to try the bowls & various hot sauces on the side to add more spice to the mix. Plus you can sit down outside to chow down with great vibes.

Yelp
I visited this enchanting gem for lunch on a Thursday. Having pre-ordered on their website for pickup, the process was seamless, and I received a text once it was ready. Despite limited parking, I double-parked with coworkers. Inside, the decor transported me to Puerto Rico. The counter attendant was friendly, answering all our questions. The food was a delight--empanadas were hearty, tostones perfectly seasoned with Garlic/salt and the 4 leches cake was a surprising delight. This is now my go-to place for Puerto Rican cuisine, and I'm eager to return with my husband and friends! PS make sure to try the Quesito with Guava!

Yelp
The service is nice and friendly. I prefer my cuban flat and toasty but the flavor in this sandwich was awesome! It made up for it. Not a fan of rice mampo. We were able to talk with great music playing at a decent volume. Owner himself is making sure you are happy. Will definitivamente will return and recommend.

Yelp
It pains me to leave this review as being from the Isla Bonita myself the last thing I want to do is talk about an establishment that serves my culture food but I waited 45 mins to get my food. Figured can't go wrong with a simple choice like white rice and beans and beans with pigeon peas with chicken chunks, needles to say it was all so salty and seems they use a curry or cardamom spice which is not a Puerto Rican spice. The alcapuria was so salty I could not finish it. The portions are small and over priced. I truly hope you make some adjustments to the amount of sodium you add to your meals so th

Yelp
Wow! As soon as you walk in Kiosko 787 you feel like you're back in Puerto Rico. Everything from the food, the ambiance & the music was beyond my expectations. I ordered the Mofongo de Mar y Tierra and it was AMAZING. Best Puerto Rican restaurant in New York hands down.

Yelp
We have traveled from Connecticut to BK several times to share an authentic taste of Puerto Rico bringing together in a real way a restaurant and a fritura spot in 1. It's not McDonald's you wait for it like you wait for your mom to prepare home cookin. Keep it pushing botha always worth the trip

Yelp
Just left kiosko 787 and had an amazing experience the food was delicious it bought back so many memories of growing up Puerto Rican and eating my grandma's food. The ambience is something special. I recommend this place a thousand times. The owner was very down to earth He greeted everyone as well and checked on the tables to make sure everyone's experience was great. Please come out and support this Puerto Rican owned restaurant serving authentic and flavorful Puerto Rican food

Yelp
This adorable little spot is something you would find at Piñones or Luquillo in PR. They have a menu filled with all the favorite snacks a PR fast food shack would serve. My favorites here are the alcapurias, and pastellios con queso and guava. They set up a few nice tables outside to munch on your quick bites or some of their bigger meal options. Your order takes a few minutes to cook because everything is made to order and fresh so be patient. I promise it's worth it!
