Kirin Seafood Restaurant (Richmond)

Dim sum was good but the Har Gow and siew mai was luke warm. some of the dishes didn’t taste very fresh instead it felt like it was reheated. but overall flavour was great. the deep fried taro dumpling made my friend and i feeling quite sick and nauseous after eating it, not sure why. My family regularly likes to dine here. Server was quite rude and impatient when we were paying the bill, asked us to choose a tip % and then never said thank you or anything.

This is my absolute favorite dim sum place in the WORLD! I love this place so much and I have been coming here consistently for the past 10 years and the quality remains excellent. My favorites are the sui mai, truffle dumplings, shrimp cheong fan, and prawn with fish maw. This place is a must try if you’re in British Columbia; it’s one of my favorite restaurants in the world!

Ordered a large lobster and it was shown to us, 3 lbs but we don’t think we got that lobster. Didn’t get the two full claws, only had one or two small pieces of the lobster tail. The photo was taken after two of us had a small serving of two pieces each. Suspect the lobster is not the one that was shown to us. Mostly shells. Ordered another dish of stir fry cubed beef tenderloin but beef was tenderized with tenderizer not the texture we are expecting.

Delicious dim sum and dinner menu. Very attentive service, waiter/waitress exchange your plates very frequently. Seating is very spacious and comfortable.

Probably one of the best tasting dim sum restaurants I went since I moved to North America 14 years ago. Every food had layers of tastes and aroma. The temperature and textures of the foods were great when they were served. I had hundreds of good shrimp dumplings, but this one ranks the top. Rich in flavor and aroma, precisely cooked skin and shrimp. All foods were seasoned perfectly, so you don't even need soy sauce for them. It always makes me happy to find a restaurant that I can actually enjoy the taste of the ingredients, not salt and sugar. Mushroom dumpling with truffle fills your nose with the aroma with the first bite. I don't usually like overwhelming truffle oil taste, but this one was balanced well. The texture of skin and mushrooms were delightful, too. My wife mentioned that the egg tart was definitely better than ones from Spain. For the service, maybe the front desk doesn't feel very welcoming. Although, all the servers were very attentive and nice. If you are getting a bad service, I would reflect whether you are nice to them or not.

A group of six of us from Singapore had dinner here last night. Overall, we had mixed feelings about the service. Unfortunately, our first impression was spoiled by one of the two female staff stationed at the entrance, who was extremely rude. When we tried to browse the set menu at the main counter, she repeatedly shooed us away to the side table and even addressed us with “hey, hey, hey, shi, shi, shi,” which we found very disrespectful. That said, the dining hall staff were the complete opposite—friendly, polite, and attentive. A special thanks to waitress Winnie and her two male colleagues (whose names we didn’t get), who made us feel welcome and well taken care of. As for the food, every dish we ordered was tasty, though most were a little too salty for our liking. Prices were reasonable and affordable, making it good value overall.

Overall, it was pretty good!! The seafood dishes seemed especially tasty, and I highly recommend the tofu!

i had high expectations cuz last time i came here almost EVERYTHING was perfect... but this time, almost EVERYTHING was MID. we started off with conch soup which had great flavour but lowkey tasted like water cuz its too diluted 3.4/5 then we got the best thing outta today: their baby pig. it had a light and crunchy exterior with a lightly seasoned interior basking in five spice powder. eating it by itself is as addictive as eating chips, but the steamed bread accompanying it was mid. 4/5 then it goes downhill from here 😍😍😍 we got their oxtail bowl which was as tough as a rubber tire, and lacked seasoning but did NOT lack in sugar cuz its on the sweeter side 1.5/5 their lobster was very sweet and fresh, and it also had lots of flavour (soy sauce) BUT THEY ADDED TOO MUCH SUGAR IS THIS A DESSERT OR WAHT 2.5/5 their soy sauce fish bowl?? tasted bland like food court food 1/5 their 粉丝/ glass noodles just tasted like scalops and garlic but ig its edible 2.5/5 their celery veggie dish tasted unmemorable 1.5/5 their veggie dish with mushrooms tasted so bland i cant even tell what was in it 0.5/5 next off is their live cod with yam and squash which tasted like nothing as well 1/5 their roasted chicken tasted bland but uh at least its crispy!!! 1/5 their fish maw was fishy and not cooked for long enough but at least the sauce was half decent 1/5 and if u want rice, then their "glutinous rice" which did NOT taste glutinous at all- was just a wet mound of rice coloured with soy sauce containing a predominant flav of just chiense sausage 2.5/5 the only noodle soup they served today with the dumplings tasted like old oily noodles soaked in msg water... however the dumpling was flavourful and abundant in shrimp 1/5 for dessert, their peach shaped buns were filled with a morbidly sweet lotus paste which was only edible after dipped in extremely concentrated tea 0.5/5 next off is their glutinous sesame dumplings submerged in dilluted almond milk was a little too sweet and just tasted like the frozen ones u can buy at an asian supermarket 2.5/5 and last off their steamed cake tasted bland... its supposed to taste like brown sugar but all i taste is a hint of ginger??? 1.5/5 btw if u bring a homemade cake they wont let u eat it cuz their scared ull sue them for food poisoning so only bring store brought cakes or else!!! overall 2/5

Kirin Seafood Restaurant is a fine dining Chinese restaurant. It is a large spacious restaurant with plenty seating. I have been here a few times over the years for the occasional celebration & Chinese new year festivities. Needless to say, the 50-item-dim-sum menu is very popular here on those grand occasions. There are 3 locations in Metro Vancouver & KSR first opened up in downtown Vancouver in 1987. KSR has won several outstanding restaurant awards over the years. I was here at the Richmond (opened in 1989) location a few weeks ago just to try out their duck. First off I need to point out that you will be paying about 30% more for duck here than at other Chinese restaurants - FYI. Now the duck itself was excellent & well prepared - great presentation. Service was top notch. I will keep going back. I would recommend KSR to groups & large families. Parking is available on the second floor or across from Hudson's Bay at Richmond Centre Mall.

We ended up at this restaurant as another one nearby had a long wait. Here they told us it would be a 30 minute wait but it was more like 10 minutes for dim sum shortly after 11 am on a holiday. I'm glad we came here as we enjoyed our experience. The table was beautifully set with each person getting 2 sets of chopsticks wrapped in paper. We reviewed the menu and order 6 or 7 dishes to share amongst the 4 of us. We order staples such as sticky rice, rice roll, har gow, and shumai, but also a few items that we don't typically get at home. All the food was delicious. All of the food didn't arrive at the same time, and there were a few longer waits. The service was excellent. Our server took away dirty plates and steamers promptly and also came to replace our plates. They keep the tea topped up and checked up on us. I was impressed with how attentive they were. They offer up to 2 hours of free parking in the parking lot, and there's an elevator from the parkade. Otherwise, there are a few sets of stairs to get to the restaurant.

Thoroughly enjoyed this authentic Cantonese dimsum experience in Vancouver! We went for lunch and it was full of local Cantonese families which made it feel very authentic. We ordered the staple dimsum, however it was missing turnip cake which was really surprising! All the dimsum was well done and authentic, however they did forget a dish and took a while before they even discovered the order was never put in. Loved that they had mango pudding dessert too! Would definitely go again for an authentic and hearty dimsum meal.

I had heard a lot about this place for dim sum and that the dim sum in Richmond is better than California - San Gabriel Valley (SGV). I figured it would be good but not that much difference. WOW, I was wrong! It was noticeably different and better. Every item was fresh, hot, and tasty. The quality of the items was significantly better than anything I've had in SGV. The dumpling skins and rice noodle was melt in your mouth fresh. Restaurants itself is nice and clean. Service is typical dim sum - nice but all business. Highly recommend making reservations. Luckily we got there early and there were only three of us, so they took us in. They did say to try to order immediately and finish within an hour - not a problem for only three of us out of towners. Looking forward for the opportunity to visit again.

When in Richmond BC, you need to hit up a dim sum spot at least once. During this visit, we visited Kirin. It's probably been a very long time since I've been here. The atmosphere is nice and packed with people. The quality of the dim sum here is great and there were unique items that I haven't seen before. The service is top notch and attentive. I liked that they offer two sets of chopsticks, one use for getting food from the center of the table and the other for personal use. They also order two tea pots (one with extra hot water). These little items help make the experience enjoyable. Their deep fried taro was exceptional great. The exterior had a really good texture and taste that I've haven't experienced before.

**Make sure to get a reservation before hand.** We made the mistake of trying to come here without one and we're turned away because they were fully booked for lunch. We also tried to make a reservation the day before and weren't able to get a table. Luckily we tried calling the next day and they had a cancelation and we were able to get a seat. The staff is super friendly and efficient. We were promptly seated and brought tea. We ordered the dim sum and it did not disappoint. A lot better than what we would get from California. The skins on the Har gow were thin but not mushy. The chicken feet were braised just right where it falls apart but sill gives a little resistance. The shu mai were seasoned perfectly without the need to dip in soy sauce. Everything we had was good, even the one we ordered by mistake (the unlabeled picture). Overall we left satisfied and with a full belly. Wish there was a spot in California that was this good.

Visited Vancouver for 1.5 days with family from the East Coast, was so excited to finally have dim sum. OMG, great quality. We arrived around 1:30pm, with our reservation at 1:45, we're seated quickly and placed in our order. Every dish we had was made fresh and did not feel greasy. Great flavors! The staff were friendly and efficient. Very typical HK customer service, loved it. Make a reservation in advance if you are looking to have dim sum. Parking is validated at the restaurant, so don't pay for parking in advance. I would come back when I have the chance to visit Vancouver.

We previously ordered takeout from this restaurant 2 years ago when my wife & I went on a road trip up from California to Canada. It was so good back then, that I've been recommending and raving about to my family since that last visit. Fast forward to July 2024. My family travelled to the Vancouver, BC area for a vacation, and made it point of interest stop for our trip to try the dim sum in person on July 24th. For this 2nd visit, we sat down and dined in the restaurant because we made reservations a month in advance. The restaurant itself was quite large with traditional Chinese decor all over. The food itself was superb once again. My favorite items were the sticky/glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaves, BBQ pork buns, shrimp har gow, and freshly steamed rice noodle with shrimp. I can honestly state that the dim sum quality here rivals the SGV (San Gabriel Valley in California) and even Hong Kong. It's a must try if you're in the Richmond/Vancouver area!

Everything we ordered was delicious with excellent service. The ambiance was relaxing with a lot of space in between each table. The vegetable dish (pea tips) was very expensive though. The half order of Peking duck (2 course) was perfect for the three of us.

From what I understand Richmond Canada has one of the best dim sum restaurants in the world and it really shows. What's crazy is that this wasn't even the best dim sum restaurant in Canada... it's more like top 10. Think lunasia dim sum in California or elite restaurant.. Kirin is a little better than Lunasia or elite restaurant in the SGV. That really speaks volume on how good the dim sum is in Richmond Canada.. on the flip side it is pricier than LA prices I tell you that. You also cannot order a small size as everything comes in big orders. The pork siu mai was one of the best I've ever had in any dim sum restaurant. I've been told to get the truffle siu mai but I just wanted to stick to the og siu mai to kinda gauge how good a dim sum restaurant. It's like judging a Korean restaurant based off their kimchi or a pizza restaurant based off their cheese/Margherita pizza. 5/5 would order the siu mai again and probably go for the truffle this time. There were big ass pieces of shrimp/pork and it was super juicy. The outside of wrapper was cooked perfectly, not soggy, not too dry but just right. -Wasn't really a fan of the chicken feet -The Hargow skin and jumbo shrimp is so much better than anything I've had in Sgv. -The shrimp rice roll noodles were so fresh and silky.. a lot of times when you try to pick up shrimp noodles drenched in soy sauce it would usually pull apart. This one kept its shape -The egg yolk bun is one of my all time favorite dim sum dishes and this did not disappoint at all. Portions were huge, egg yolk was sweet/salty/runny, the bun itself was sooo smooth. Honestly the texture of the bun is something really hard to describe since I've never had squid ink buns but I'm definitely a fan now!

This place is legit! One of the best dim sum meals I've had and, for reference, I'm Chinese and I've had dim sum in NYC, San Fran, Hong Kong, Guangdong, etc. Reservations are a must. And yes, they only give you 1.5 hours to eat, which wasn't a problem. We had pork cheong fun, shrimp cheong fun, pork ribs, chicken feet, ha gow, you tiu wrapped with cheong fun, siu mai, deep fried squid legs, salted duck yolk buns, eggplant stuff with shrimp, sticky rice stuffed with pork. Everything is recommended!

I love the food at Kirin. Dimsum or dinner - both fantastic! Kirin is extremely popular so we made reservations in advance for our dim sum visit. Enjoyed everything especially the truffle fries. We came for dinner in the past and they walk around with a live King crab. If it's something that you're interested in - you would buy it and have them prepare it for you. If you're looking for some good Chinese food - Kirin is a solid spot.

Everytime I go to Canada (I'm from Seattle), I always visit this restaurant. It is a must eat. This restaurant has maintained its quality for nearly two decades from when I first I tried it. The dim sum is delicious. The service is very good and I suggest making a reservation to avoid long wait times.

Went back for dim sum again during our recent trip to Vancouver. Had the opportunity to try several dim sum places, and Kirin was still the best. April was tax season and most of the other restaurants were not too crowded, except for Kirin. We arrived 5 minutes after they opened on a Wednesday, and were told they were full for the day and through the weekend! We had to make a reservation for the following week. We ordered shrimp dumplings, chive and shrimp dumplings, steamed rice rolls with beef and Chinese donut 鬼馬牛肉腸粉, pork liver Siu Mai 豬膶燒賣, supreme broth dumplings with abalone and fish maw 鮑魚花膠灌湯餃, baby bok choy with bean curd skin in fish broth, Kirin special chow mein, and egg tart. Everything was absolutely delicious! Their food was just a level better than the other places we tried, it's more refined. Some of the dishes, like the pork liver Siu Mai and soup dumpling with abalone and fish maw are not usually found in other restaurants. The Chinese donut added to the beef rice rolls made it a lot more interesting. The ambience was nice and spacious. Service was really attentive. Tea and XO sauce were provided with no extra charge. Very classy! Their staff was really well-trained. On our way out, everyone we came across said "thank you". Overall, a solid 5-star experience!

TLDR: A couple dishes not found in Bay Area. Overall good dim sum. MAKE A RESERVATION. We were about 15 minutes late to our reservation, which was for 1:15p. We still had to wait about 10-15 minutes. One unfortunate guy tried to walk-in, and was turned away. So make a reservation, but still expect to wait. Since this is dim sum, we ordered a wide variety of stuff. Naturally we only finished about half of it. Once again, I'm going to be comparing quite a bit with the Bay Area, seeing that's where I'm from. There's quite a bit to go through, so let's goooo! BBQ Pork Puff - Super Flaky, and super glazed. The glaze stuck to my teeth, so I tried eating them upside down. That worked well! Better than US. Peanut and Pork Porridge - Tastes good, but my wife still thinks HK is better. Doesn't even exist in US. Fried donut wrapped in Rice Crepe - Actually it was soggy. But the rice wrapper was thin, which is good. Worse than US. Chicken Feet - Good. Pretty flavorful. Same as US. Lotus wrapped sticky rice - One of my go-to dim sum. If you love mushrooms (which I don't), you'll love this. Filled with a lot of mushrooms. I had a devil of a time picking them all out. Parts of the rice still stuck on the wrap. My theory is, the better the rice, the less is stuck to the leaf. About same as US. Siu Mai - If you love shrimp, you'll love this. Not densely packed. Better than US. Sesame Pudding - Light and jiggly, while not being too sweet. Better than US. Deep Fried Egg Chip - Very light... texture kinda reminds me of those egg rolls you buy in a tin. The snack, not the deep-fried spring roll. You definitely need to use the coconut and syrup, otherwise not much flavor. Not in US. I would give this place 4 stars, because overall it's good, but the taste is pretty similar to Bay Area. I'm adding an extra star because there were a couple really tasty items that can't be found in the Bay Area.

Haven't been here in a while but their Whole Abalone & Lobster Special Menu for $66.80 caught my eye. Restaurant is clean with modern Chinese feel and it's one staple restaurant for weddings and birthdays. Free parking for 2 hours for lunch, however it seems like there's no time restriction for dinner. Park and register vehicle info with the restaurant. One of the more high end Chinese restaurants in Richmond and so I have higher expectations. But I was quite disappointed. *Chef's Special Appetizer: Smoked Salmon / Seaweed / Pan Fried Minced Fish Patties in Spicy Thai Sauce - fish patties were shaped like SPAM slices but texture is mushy. The smoked salmon, fish patty and seaweed did not go together. There was no cohesive taste that binds this dish together. *Dried Scallop, Crab Meat and Fish Maw Soup: this soup is just ok, ingredients were sparse although taste is not bad. *Whole Abalone Braised with Goose Web, Fish Maw and Chinese Mushroom Served with Peatip in Oyster Sauce: quite bland and mushroom lacks aroma, goose web tasteless, abalone texture was good but lacks the marriage with the sauce. Pea-tip might be the only redeeming factor of this dish. *Live Chick Lobster Steamed with Chopped Garlic: only half a lobster per person. This dish is not bad. *Stewed E-Fu Noodle in Abalone Sauce: not bad as well In summary, dishes lacked the umami goodness. My 2-stars attribute to the use of expensive ingredients for this price range of $66.80/pax.

10/10. One of the best dimsum I've ever had hands down. The place is packed on all days and the line stretching out the door is justified. The food is prepared on order. It come out steaming hot and fresh. The sheer quality of the food is top notch as well as the service. The place is vibrant and fast paced!

Super elegant dimsum restaurant that we were initially unable to eat at on our first Sunday in Vancouver, as we hadn't realized that we needed to make a reservation and the place was understandably already booked out for the weekend. Luckily we inquired as to whether there was availability Tuesday morning and were told there was a table available right at open, so we were still able to slot Kirin into our schedule after all. We arrived right at open and there was already a large group of people waiting at the entrance ready to go in when 10AM hit. We were led to our table in the banquet hall shortly and began perusing the menus to figure out what we wanted to order. Everything is made to order and there are no carts, so you can trust that your food is super fresh and hasn't been sitting out for hours, which is nice. The one downside to having a more limited dimsum menu however is that there aren't as many accommodations that can be made for those with dietary restrictions; the one member of our party that is allergic to all seafood and shellfish consequently couldn't enjoy the siumai because the restaurant only has a pork and shrimp version of it, not one with just pork. Same with the pork and century egg congee, which comes with dried oyster in it - delicious, but an allergy flag for sure. I was also pretty sad that turnip cake wasn't on the menu, and others in our party were hoping for ham sui gok and only were able to find the fried taro version of that dish. But on to the things that we loved! The shrimp hargow was some of the best we've ever had, as was the aforementioned siumai and the spare ribs, which were succulent and flavorful and tender. Charsiu buns were soft and had a great ratio of bun to filling, and the eggplant shrimp was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Eggplant wasn't too mushy or too hard, and the shrimp was moist and flavorful. No one at our table really loved the standard chicken feet offering; maybe we should've ordered the chef's special version. I quite enjoyed the beef flat noodles because it was lighter and less oily than I normally expect, but others in our group didn't care for it for the exact same reason. I always love congee so I enjoyed Kirin's version but some thought it was pretty skimpy on the amount of century egg and didn't love the cut of pork used in the soup. Desserts were all hits; my husband and I love durian so the durian mochi was perfect for us, and the egg tarts were super flaky. Salted egg yolk buns were very visually cool as well as tasty. Service was a bit spotty; we had to flag people down a lot in the back corner of the restaurant, and one of the aunties serving us did get a bit exasperated at all of our menu questions, but that's par for the course at an establishment like this :P Still, we had a very enjoyable and filling meal!

This place is nice and somewhat fancy. The food however was mediocre, and expensive. The plus is the service was great.

Casual, no frill, great food Chinese restaurant in the heart of Waikiki! Highly recommend the Peking Duck, it was traditional style and fantastic. Generous portion as well. The dim sum sampler was also fantastic, especially the shrimp dumplings. Cucumber salad added some great freshness and crunch to our meal. Service was great. Prices were fair. Highly recommend!

Excellent food and wonderful service. Stopped by on our way home and we're not disappointed. Everything from moment we arrived was perfect. Typically you need a reservation but we were a bit early for lunch so it was ok.

We could not be happier with celebrating my father's 90th birthday at Kirin Richmond for dinner. Food was great and the service was just exceptional. There was just the five of us. Many restaurants offer banquet / reception type menus but most of them are for parties of 10. Kirin Richmond offers an Abalone & Lobster Special Menu which you can reduce to half-size for half the price so it was perfect for us to have a banquet type set dinner for a small intimate party. Everything on the menu was delicious: - Assorted appetizers with beef tenderloin, deep fried silver fish with peanuts, smoked salmon, and jellyfish - Fish maw and silky chicken soup with pine mushroom and American ginseng - Braised abalone with peatip - Lobster with eggplants and rice cakes - Steamed rock cod - Roasted squabs - E-fu noodle - Baked tapioca pudding - Sweet purée almond soup with black sesame paste dough balls We loved EVERY single dish although my husband is al;ways partial to his own baked tapioca pudding with taro. Everyone who served our table was awesome. We brought with us a birthday cake. Without even us having to say anything, our waiter at the table immediately said he would take it to the refrigerator as my husband and I walked up to the table. As soon as everyone arrived and was seated, they began serving without us having to tell them to start serving. Everyone was attentive with every details and courteous in all possible ways during the entire course of our dinner. Individual plates were changed constantly to make sure that you are not having the next course with remnants of the last course on the plates. Question was asked on how the dish should be served (partitioned or served communally) every time a plate was laid. When our lazy susan started to be full of dishes, the team offered to start bagging up the leftovers. Since there were 5 of us, they even offered to bag the leftovers accordingly which party guest was taking which boxes home. They brought out the birthday cake lit ahead of the 2 dessert items on the menu with probably every wait staff on duty that night. My father was genuinely surprised. I was surprised too that the whole team would come over to the table. They gave us a choice for birthday song in English or Cantonese and we opted for the latter. It was a very wonderful dining experience. I think my parents thoroughly enjoyed the birthday dinner and I'm glad that we picked Kirin Richmond for it. My dad wanted to give a fat red envelope to the wait staff. My brother and I said we would give a fat tip. The price per person below includes tip.

Everyone already knows to come eat dim sum here... for Singaporean n all durian lovers you've gotta have the durian mochi!!! BUT we came for our Alaskan king crab dinner here last week - no reservation nothing - we called to make sure they actually had a king crab they quoted us the price per pound n before you know it we had 'Kyle' at our table DEEEEESLICIOUS!! I've never seen Kirin Richmond not packed to the brim but this Thursday evening we not only got princess parking at the entrance at the multi storey parking, we got awesome service!!! So it's a little more expensive but I'd come back here again for this good an experience!!

This is the first dim sum restaurant that I made reservation for ever in my life. In California, dim sum restaurants is first come first serve. Get there at opening to avoid the crowd. I love that in Vancouver you can make resy for any restaurants. But we are only allow 1.5 hours which is enough time to enjoy dim sum. You have to place the order with the server. There is no cart system. We ordered the following to share between 6 people: Eggplant stuffed with minced prawns in black bean sauce Deep fried chicken joint cartilage Golden Fried tofu Chicken feet Har Gow Siu Mai Braised beef tripe & tendon with Chinese radish Chinese donut wrapped in rice noodle Steam beef and Chinese donut rice roll Durian mochi Thousand tier cake Everything was delicious as expected of Chinese food in Vancouver. I loved the eggplant stuffed with minced shrimp. It was delicious. The best I have had thus far. The Steam beef and Chinese donut rice roll was something I haven't tried before. Normally the beef rice roll is just with beef and doesn't include crispy Chinese donut. It was quite yummy. The other dishes were comparable and similar to the ones in California. The durian mochi was decadent. Mochi was soft and chewy and filled with good amount of durian. The thousand tier cake was something I have not had before. It was filled with salty egg yolk and really hit the spot for sweet and savory.

Deep fried taro dumplings sent me to heaven. Yum yum...... Came at 10AM. Food was steaming hot, every bite was fresh and tasteful. Husband loved tofu with ginger syrup, which was so smoooooooth. Travelled from the US. This experience was once in a lifetime and was the best dim sum we had ever tasted.

4.5 Stars I didn't know what to expect coming here but people always say you need to try dim sum in Richmond. All I knew was this place is popular and you need to come early to get a table. Right off the bat, the hostess told us we have one hour to eat. That's fine; just serve us promptly and we will be out of there. We looked at the menu and was surprised they did not have a sheet to check off what you'd like to order. Maybe this wasn't their style and would lower the classiness of the restaurant, so I understand. But without having a sheet to check off, it tends to lead to not remembering what you wanted to order and what you previously did order, which happened in our case. But no big deal. Food wise, everything was great. Items were hot and flavorful, and the quality was on point. It was nice that a lot of dishes had their own dipping sauce. Service was great as well as we felt we had a dedicated team serving us, as opposed to other places where you had to flag people down to get service. Overall, great experience. This meal was a highlight of our trip.

Kirin is one of my family's favourite dim sum spots! I'm always excited when we get to go. Service is quick and I don't think you can go wrong with any of their dishes. These are the ones I enjoy the most: Durian Mochi - They have the best durian mochi! It has a generous amount of durian inside and their mochi is larger than other dim sum places. It's soft and chewy with a rich, creamy filling. Deep-Fried Egg Chips with Syrup and Sesame - You pour coconut flakes and syrup over the egg chips, which are light and airy, but still crispy. This is another dessert we always order here, and I can easily eat a ton of them. Egg Tarts - The crust is flaky and buttery, while the custard is silky. Steamed Puréed Egg Yolk in Cuttlefish Ink Dough Bun - The bun is fluffy with a sweet, gooey filling.

Food was absolutely amazing! Every dish was delicious! Service was great as well. Frequent plate changes and responsive. Its quite a bit kore expensive than other Chinese restaurants but they are worth it for a special occasion!

Good dim sum. My family and I had the following dishes: - Steamed prawn dumpling - Steamed pork dumpling filled with consommé - Juicy crab meat dumpling in consommé - Pork and Chinese mushroom pastry topped with whole abalone (amazing! Never had this before. The flavors were on point, and the pastry was perfectly crispy) - Tofu dessert with ginger syrup (delicious!) - Beef tendon in spicy sauce - Barbecued pork pastry - Assorted seafood congee

Good food beyond good food. What are your tests for good dim sum? Do they include packed sticky chicken rice? Translucent and perfectly sticky har gow wrapper? Consider both correct. For two people, the price is probably a little too much, but when sharing with a larger group, it's about right. Service was surprisingly speedy and polite. We're so used to the pushy and rude waitstaff from the Bay that we didn't know what to think initially. It's also clear that things aren't sitting around in steamers and waiting because everything arrives piping hot. Will be back!

We were at Kiri on July 7th for dinner. Food was good and authentic as expected. No complaints here and service could have improved but it's Sunday night and the place was almost full house. We ordered four dishes. Took a bit longer to arrive because of dinner party few tables further. Just don't understand why ALL the servers including the maître d' worn masks. Is the air in the restaurant unclean? Or the management doesn't trust the health of the patrons or the staff themselves are not well? The entrance to the restaurant is wide open with good air flow. People are still brainwashed and if they think it's unsafe to dine/work in restaurant then they really should stay home. Would you feel comfortable and relaxed seeing workers wearing masks or/and protective garments while you're eating? No common sense and stop the insanity.

You need a reservation in order to be seated! If you plan to just get there and be seated, you're wrong, any day of the week, you'll need a reservation in order to be seated! There were 6 of us and we ordered a set menu for a party of 4 and it was plenty of of food to feed 8 people! The service was outstanding and very, very clean for a Chinese restaurant! It's on the second floor next to the Hudson Bay shopping mall!

A foodie friend recommended this place and didn't disappoint me. Food was good and price was comfortably cheap as to Bay Area. Too bad that our stay is short, or I will come back to try more of its dim sum.

Two months ago, My family and I went here for dim sum. We were there right before the restaurant opened and there was already a queue. Since we didn't have a reservation(I guess it's the norm in Vancouver), they were still friendly enough to offer us a table but we had to finish within a hour and a half. We ordered the vegetarian goose, steamed pork buns, har gow, fried taro puffs, braised duck web in abalone sauce, siu mai, fried dough rice rolls, abalone tarts, steamed chicken feet in black bean sauce, and steamed double skin milk. Everything was made to order and was piping hot. Standouts were the vegetarian goose, fried taro puffs, abalone tarts, and the double boiled milk. The vegetarian goose was made with fried bean curd skin and stuffed with Chinese mushrooms. It had a smoky flavor and was delicious! The fried taro puffs were stuffed with shrimp, pork and Chinese mushrooms. They were still crispy and one of the best I had! The abalone tarts were big and had a little abalone on top. Inside the tart, there was mashed pork and Chinese mushrooms. Eating one was already filling but it was very savory! The double boiled milk with ginger juice was also good and not too sweet. All the other dim sum dishes were also spot on. Staff was friendly and attentive. They also gave us a mini wallet Chinese calendar as a souvenir. Cute! This place is a must if you come to visit Vancouver!

Oops! Didn't make a rezzy in time, so we ordered takeout. (Even before opening time, there was a big crowd with reservations already lined up!) Variable customer service. The waitress who took my order spoke curtly, while the man who handed me my food looked courteous. Staff had me wait in the lobby for 20 minutes until my order was ready. Their walls boasted many awards - a promising sign for good eats! Unfortunately, their dim sum just tasted okay. Nothing really wow-ed us. Compared to Orange County's and LA County's dim sum hot spots, Kirin's food was quite pricey with mediocre quality.

I visited Vancouver (Richmond) 20+ years ago and remember having one of the best dim sums here. In an attempt to reminisce and try again, I asked my friend who's from here where he recommends. Having lived in Hong Kong for decades, I'd like to try dim sum wherever I travel to. Street parking that was pretty easy to find on a Sunday afternoon. I didn't make a reservation, but the wait was pretty quick for two people. Service was attentive and friendly. Sauces were brought out on a plate of its own and a spoon to scoop it out. The dim sum menu selection was not as large as I'm used to, but it covered the common items. Prices were on higher end. The har gow and scallop gow (shrimp dumplings and scallop dumplings had a crunchy texture - not the deep fried crunch. The translucent skin was thin and chewy as I know it. The Siu Mai was large and the pork had a nice bounce to it. The blanched Chinese broccoli yielded the perfect crunch and tenderness. The chicken feet didn't have the dark dyed color that most places do them. It wasn't overly salty. The skin wasn't as tender. The steamed pork ribs was the least of our favorites. It had a bit of the pork meat gamey taste still in it. Overall setting was quiet and not overly intrusive in the noise levels.

Solid service. Poised in uniform, no interaction, just prompt & proper. Standard dim sum with a few specialty entrees. A bit more expensive than your average dim sum house, though you will always find a table quickly and the establishment is very clean with bathrooms that are kept up. *It is a bit of a challenge for those needing an elevator because the walk to the street level entrance is on the other side of the building.

Good food, clean inside, and attentive staff. More expensive than other dim sum places, but the quality in food shows. My favorite was the shrimp rice roll and har gow. And the thousand tiered cake. So good. Make reservations well in advance.

Absolutely worth the hype! My coworkers mentioned that this place had amazing dim sum and they definitely do. The dim sum is fresh and flavorful. They come out hot from the kitchen, so you do miss out on the typical dim sum cart experience. The service is fantastic and our waiter was very friendly. He reminded us of a sweet uncle. The wait- We waited an hour on a Friday morning but luckily there's a mall next door so we walked around for a while. I'd suggest making reservations if you're in a hurry.

My go to place for both dim sum and Cantonese dim sum in Richmond. Food quality is good with fresh ingredients. Their dinner combo options for 4 can easily feed 6 ppl. Their service is alway up to par and very attentive. The only negative about their service is that the server awkwardly ask you how much you'd like to tip after you hand them the card...

We arrived slightly before 10am opening time on a Tuesday morning. There was a short line already. Though we didn't have a reservation, we were accommodated immediately, just asked to finish eating in an hour which wasn't a problem for us. We ordered dim sum off a menu (no carts). Food came out fairly quickly and everything was delicious! The waitstaff was attentive and came by several times to remove empty plates and switch out used plates for clean ones. In the attached photo from left to right, top to bottom row: chicken feet, steamed bbq pork buns, liu sha bao, shumai, shrimp dumplings, egg tarts, glutinous rice with chicken, durian Mochi, and crispy fish rice roll. The items that wowed us: shrimp dumplings, egg tarts, durian Mochi. Everything was so good but these stood out as definitely the best we have had compared to other dim sum in Northern and Southern California. The only one I would consider skipping next time is the chicken feet. We always order this at dim sum but this one was a bit too spicy and not as flavorful. Price: each dish we ordered was around $10 CAD. Takeout boxes and utensils were complimentary but the restaurant charges for bags. Overall, I would highly recommend making a reservation at Kirin if you are craving dim sum! We will definitely continue to come here when we're in the area.

We were fortunate to get a table a little bit after 10am without reservation on a Saturday, but the place quickly filled after we were seated. The lady did asked us if we intend to be there for less than an hour, we said absolutely and we're seated, so maybe it was our lucky day as many reviews mentioning that reservation is a must. There's a parking garage that you can park at, as there were ample of small parking. We paid for parking but apparently there's parking validation that you can get free parking, which we weren't aware of. The dim sum was pretty good, and they were pretty attentive. I really liked the salted egg squid ink dessert, that was probably the highlight for me. The oozing of the custard inside. *yum* The atmosphere looks pretty clean and opened space, the staff does a great job with turning over a table once customers leave. Definitely worth a try if you're in Richmond.

While the service here is great the food here is just mediocre. I ordered the shrimp dumplings, fried tofu wrap with shrimp, Chinese donut noodle roll, and lotus rice wrap. Shrimp dumplings (2/5): not sure if the shrimp is not fresh or something but I couldn't bring myself to finish it. The moment it was in my mouth it tasted slimy and sour so I spat it back out. Tofu wrap (2/5): while the shrimp inside here was good the amount of oil on the wrap made it so hard to eat. Every bite was a taste of oil it literally made me want to throw up from all the oil. Doughnut noodle roll (4/5): this was by far my favorite out of everything. It wasn't greasy and the soy sauce paired with it was sweet! Only marked a point off because the doughnut had an inconsistent cook on each roll so some were almost overcooked while others were just right. Lotus wrap (3/5): this lotus wrap was ok it definitely can do better. The reason why I gave it a 3 was because it was also very greasy. All in all this place is a super greasy place. A few hours after eating here I did end up vomiting and having stomach pain from all the oily food I consumed.

We are we're visiting and took the tip of calling in a week before to make a reservation for 2 @ 10am. We don't speak Chinese but easily made it via phone. We arrived a few mins early on a Friday and there was already a line. When the restaurant opens, they move pretty quickly through the customers as most already have a reservation. Although I was initially worried, we had no problem checking in and being seated. There are English descriptions on the menu but note not that many photos. The staff will answer questions if you have any and doesn't rush when you are deciding to order. We looked prior on Yelp to select which dishes we wanted to order. Initially we ordered the deep-fried eggplant, steamed pork/shrimp/jicama dumplings, sticky rice, and shu mai. We didn't see the peking duck on the dim sum menu and asked about it and they were happy to add it to our order (1/2 size). We should have removed a couple dishes but didn't know until later. We essentially ate for a family of four lol. I loved the eggplant. There is a grilled smokiness that comes through although the eggplant & shrimp are deep-fried. Doused in a delicious sauce - SO good! They will cut the 3 pieces in half. 5/5 Sticky rice - not always my favorite but my husband enjoyed. It was a 3/5 for me as I prefer the shredded meet and boiled peanuts which this style lacked. Pork and shrimp dumplings with jicama -I don't think I was particularly used to this flavor but I wanted to try something different. Each element is roughly chopped in the dumpling itself. They are served as 3 in one tray and definitely hearty. Just not for us next time. 3/5 Shu mai - 5/5 Now the duck I can't believe we payed $54-$55 for half but it was absolutely delicious. Initially we were served the crispy skin w/some meat on a bed of shrimp chips + thin pancakes, cucumber, and plum sauce and thought... this is doable with our other dishes. We were wrong and our mouths dropped when the meat stir fry and lettuce wrap potion came as well at a later time. It was so much food but everything was cooked to perfection. We would order this again but next time with other people. 5/5 We had a positive experience overall. The staff is attentive about clearing empty dishes and trash off the table, refilling tea, etc.. and the man who initially sat us and I'm pretty sure we made the reservation with was friendly. It was the best dim sum we have had in a while having visited for the first time in a couple years.

Flies and bugs everywhere. They said they close at 10p, by 845p they rush to close the kitchen by 9p and ask the guests to take the food as fast as possible. My order comes with desserts and towards the end they said they ran out. At CAD 588 for a table of 7, this is bad service and never mind the poor quality of the food. They tried to rush so bad even the fried rice they forgot to season the rice. How bad can it be?

Finally had a chance to give this dim sum spot a try after hearing all the hype around it and after a small letdown eating at their downtown Vancouver location which had a limited number of dishes to try. Now with that said I thought there'd be more of a selection at the Richmond spot and yes, they did have more but not as many as I'd expected. Upon further discussion the ones we did order all came out steaming hot, freshly made and were very yummy! We went on a Thursday and it was very busy. I'd stress getting a reservation no matter what day you go but for sure on a weekend day. Some say you need to do that a couple weeks in advance too. Lastly the service was good!

Great food and service!! Best Cantonese restaurant.. always nice to see the friendly staffs of Kirin.

Now this a much higher class restaurant and Prices but guarantied good food Parkade parking and very clean place and service. also caters to weddings and party's . very pleasant place.
