Ki's Restaurant

Had a great date night with my daughter! Seating upstairs makes for a good view of the sunset, ocean waves and relaxed atmosphere. The train runs behind the restaurant which makes it fun to see as well. Bathrooms are clean, very tight space though. Stairs to get up to dining area. Free parking was a huge perk! We loved our waitress and hostess.

We had such an amazing day at Ki’s Restaurant. We went for breakfast/ lunch and loved it so much that we came back later for sunset and happy hour. It was absolutely worth it. At lunch, I had the California Grill and it was delicious. Our friends ordered the French toast and the carnitas scramble, and both were fantastic. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. We returned in the evening for happy hour and to catch the sunset, and the view was perfect. Truly breathtaking. During happy hour, we ordered the seared ahi and crispy cauliflower, and both were incredible. Great flavors and perfect for sharing. A special shoutout to Melody, the manager. She is amazing. She told us the story of the owners (family owned business) and made sure we were having a great time. You can tell she genuinely cares about the guest experience. All of the servers were fun and sweet, creating such a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to come back again. Between the delicious food, great happy hour, perfect sunset views, and outstanding service, Ki’s is truly a gem. We will definitely be back.

Great breakfast and really inexpensive for all you get. Got the breakfast special which included any breakfast entree with juice plus coffee and tea for under $15! I got the pancakes with eggs and potatoes. I don't know what they put into their breakfast potatoes but they were tasty! And the best part was the views! You have to order first, get a number then a waitstaff brings everything to you. It's a well organized process. Plenty of parking and friendly staff. Will be back!

You have to try to believe it. The atmosphere and the food perhaps become irrelevant because the forces of nature take over. It’s like a vacation on a an island that the island and the vacation both do not end.

Great ocean side views and fantastic food. I would highly recommend the trying the smoothies.

The ordering downstairs is great. Food is simple. The condiment bar and the upstairs seating with the view is wonderful. Fairly busy when we went and they didn’t have the vegan pancakes which I was really bummed about but the tofu scramble was good. Wish the kids meals had side options. The apples with the cheese pasta noodles was interesting and the portion was fairly small so if you have a kiddo with a larger appetite maybe get an adult entree. But overall nice spot. Great location. Would recommend trying at least once for the experience!

Driven by it 1000 times and never had the need for a "date night" spot. Little did I realize that this place is like a mullet, fancy on top and casual on the bottom. They have a counter you can order from downstairs (if youre not looking for a sit down restaurant) that feels more like a local deli and I love it. I still ordered food from the restaurant but sat outside w my friend and her dog and we loved it. The views of the lagoon and blackened shrimp bowl were superb.

Been here a few times and decided to finally review it. This place is generally hit or miss, but I had an pretty mediocre experience this time. The three entrees my party ordered were beef stew, a California omelette, and a pesto chicken sandwich. The soup that was brought to the table was vegetable soup, and it tasted like someone simmered random veggies in V8 juice for an hour. It was overpowered by canned tomato flavor and required decent post-seasoning to be edible. The California omelette was all right, though the eggs were overdone and the potatoes were very dry. It required ketchup and salsa to be flavorful. Finally, the chicken pesto sandwich was prepared well, but the chicken was semi-dry and there wasn’t a whole lot of flavor, despite there being so many ingredients on the sandwich. The supermix juice and the americano were decent. No complaints there in terms of flavor. However, a large juice was like $11 which seems a bit steep for it simply being juices veggies. It’s an interesting spot due to the view of the beach, but it’s not going on my top lists of San Diego eateries any time soon.

I never write reviews, but we truly had an amazing time. Came with my husband and two kids on a Friday night, we never get family time together and we were already in a sour mood, so we didn't have high hopes for the evening--but we had such an incredible experience. The food was amazing and the service was absolutely impeccable. Our server, Ava, made us feel immediately welcomed and like appreciated clientele. She was such a sweet girl. The ambiance of this place is unmatched, they have a beautiful view of the ocean. Would definitely recommend!

Great stop on my way out of town at Ki's overlooking the ocean! When you arrive, you place your order and they bring it to your table. I was feeling some seafood, so the tuna poke bowl was delicious and incredibly fresh! Great lunch spot.

A friend recommended this place so we came to check it out. The location is very nice. On the water and very pretty. Food is ordered downstairs off of a very nice menu, and you have to go upstairs to get a table and they will deliver the food to you. prices are reasonable. I ordered the Asian salad with grilled salmon. This is usually my go to meal and I have to say, compared to other places, that this was just mediocre. It gets three out of five for me. It was good, but it was not great and I would likely not order it again, which says a lot. I also went ahead and ordered the avocado toast and this was a huge letdown. For $10, one larger piece of bread with just crushed avocado and some tomato on it... and completely bland with no spices... This was insulting and I would never order it again because I can make it at home and make it better! This got a two out of five. My son ordered three dishes, one omelette, one pancake, with bananas, and a dish that included seafood and rice. All of his dishes were good. He said he, he would not read any of them more than four out of five, but they were good. My friend ordered the vegetarian lasagna, which she swears by, it was good and I would give it four out of five, coming in with a house salad as well. The service is very friendly. It is a very very pleasant environment. Would we go here again? I would say yes, because I would try other things. Some of the food was good and some of the food was just ok, and nothing was bad, but the avocado toast got a low score because it simply is something I can easily make it home and was overpriced.

I had the Pesto chicken sandwich which was absolutely delicious. My husband had the Thai chicken wrap which was exceptional as well. The order setup is different than most places. You walk in, order at the counter. Go upstairs to find a table and your food will be brought to your table. I like it to be honest. Can't wait to go back and try some more of their menu items! Oh and their muffins are scrumptious!! Don't forget to grab one to go or there, whatever you prefer.

Once again Ki's is the BEST. The food is so delicious AND healthy ‼ The ocean view magnificent and the servers are GREAT. Kekota was cheerful, efficient and attentive. Wonderful combination for a super meal.

Had reservations and we were seated right away with an ocean view. Got pretty busy at 6pm. We had very good service. The appetizers were amazing and hot. If I had to choose between the 2 which was my favorite I couldn't choose between them. My meal was great and flavorful. Dessert was great. My only issue we were expecting to be able to order Ribeye steaks. It's been on the menu for the past few New Years Eves. This year it wasn't available much to our dismay. As always great food, great service and great view.

ki's has always been one of my favorite spots in san diego, the food never disappoints and the atmosphere is so nice overlooking the beach. I love taking people who visit san diego here. the mondo burrito is a staple and one of my top breakfast burritos. they have great self serve sauce options too which is nice. the pesto chicken sandwich and the ahi wrap are also great lunch options.

Came here on a Monday in June for lunch and the parking lot was jam packed! Summers are busy I guess. If you can, bike or walk here in the summers. Parking is very tough. Food is still good and the service staff here are kind and patient.

I love that I chose this place for an early breakfast during a weekend stay in Encinitas! You get a beautiful view of the water/beach if you're able to snag a table right by the window. My bf and I arrived at about 8:45 am on a Sunday and there weren't that many people. I wasn't sure how it'd be early in the morning since I expected some sort of crowd especially it was a holiday weekend. You order at the counter and then take your number and go upstairs to the tables. I ordered the Tofu Scramble Bowl ($11.25 - Tofu, green peppers, tomatoes and onions sauteed in tamari, spices, and olive oil served over breakfast potatoes, fresh spinach and organic black beans.) But I actually subbed the breakfast potatoes for quinoa since I saw quinoa is offered in another breakfast item. This was so delicious! I'm happy they had no issue with doing quinoa instead. It all paired wonderfully and the presentation of the bowl was on point for me. There was a good amount of tofu and I loved that they were super firm and not crumbling. I was able to finish the entire bowl and didn't feel extremely full afterwards. (bc it was healthy lol) My bf ordered the Carne Asada Breakfast Bowl ($13.50 - Two Eggs (ordered over easy), Carne Asada, Pico de Gallo, jack cheese, jicama slaw guacamole, breakfast potatoes, organic beans, cilantro and Chipotle Mayonnaise) and Açai Fruit Smoothie ($9.50 - Açai, Fresh Apple, Bananas and Strawberries.) I thought the presentation of his bowl was also well constructed (obviously I'm a sucker for how food appears) and he said everything was also delicious. The smoothie tasted just like his favorite-- strawberry banana smoothies! We were unaware of the self serve station inside where they had utensils, napkins, sauces, to-go boxes, water/water cups, etc. and a worker let us know that we can grab everything we needed there. Very convenient! Never needing to wait on your waiter. There are also heaters over these tables by the windows in case it's a little chilly outside. The employees were very nice and we enjoyed our morning here. As soon as it started getting to 9:45 AM and on, we watched more and more people head inside so I'm glad we came at a decent time closer to opening.

Wow, what a spot! I was in town to visit family and this place had such an extensive menu. Affordable, great quality, fresh food and a perfect view of the ocean. You order downstairs with the servers and then pick a spot to sit, food came to the table but all drinks needed to be picked up downstairs. The taco plate I ordered tasted great, it was fresh and filling. They had salsa, sauces & maple syrup upstairs incase people wanted any more. The salsa tasted great too. Would definitely come back again and recommend this spot to all.

I grew up coming here for brunch but had never tried dinner until now! Came here for date night to try their happy hour and 3 course sunset menu and fell in love. Quality of the food was incredible and views are spectacular! Service was great and overall perfect pick for date night. We will be back soon!

Came down to visit some friends who live nearby. This was my first time here, so I was looking forward to trying a new place. Such a cool laid back resto! The menu on the wall was a bit overwhelming at first, but then I saw their paper menu and took a glance at the many selections. I placed my order and paid at the counter. Our party of 4 headed upstairs to the enclosed patio where you can get your silverware, napkins, condiments, etc. Two of us each had the Fajita Bowl (with carnitas), one had the California Grill Sandwich (with fries), and the other had Santa Fe Salmon Wrap. The portions were decent, and everything tasted wonderful with no complaints! The bonus, however, was having this wonderful meal with great friends while enjoying the beautiful view of the ocean! Our company hosted our annual New Years Party at Ki's for the first time this year with a full restaurant buyout and had a fantastic experience! If you're looking for a venue to host a private event and are considering Ki's, don't hesitate to reach out to Jennifer. Their ordering process was great and simple, the food was delicious and appetizers were delicious. We ordered the Sunset Party for our attendees and also had their premium hosted bar option both of which were perfect for our group. Aside from the food and drinks, the 2nd floor of the restaurant was super spacious for our party of 70 and the service was phenomenal! We're so glad we found Ki's and are hoping to host events here in the future! Thanks Jennifer and Ki's team!

We went for the first time for dinner last night (usually I go for breakfast or lunch), service, food and relaxed pace was wonderful!! The manager at the front podium was so nice (sorry forgot to ask your name). Ava was our server and she was attentive, friendly, gave great advice as to what to order and was just super!! And I have to mention the great view too!!! They had a band last night that was good too. We had a couple drinks (top notch bartender!!), 2 appetizers, the seasonal flatbread (yum!) and the crispy cauliflower (yum yum!) after that we split the catch of the day which was an amazing halibut! We of course couldn't leave the meal without dessert and we had the amazing lemon olive oil cake! WOW!!! Thank you all for making our birthdays so special!!

The food is delicious, the staff is really friendly and the location is awesome. If I still lived in Encinitas I'd eat here more often. The breakfast burrito was fantastic this morning.

Been here a few times now. The view is great, parking spots always seem to be available in the lot and food is healthy and fast. The tofu scramble is my favorite so far. The chicken salad sandwich is also a great choice. The veggie soup is a bit too sweet for my liking. Next time I'm gonna try the burger!

we dined at ki's for dinner, and had a mixed experience. first off, such a cute spot with a lovely view of the beach! we came for happy hour, and were happy to see it was provided daily! drinks and appetizers were great, we got the mushroom bruschetta and spring rolls and both were delicious. i ordered the pasta primavera without pancetta, and found it to be a little bland for my liking... however, my party seemed satisfied with the green and masaman curries. unfortunately, we had to send the yellow curry back because it was made incorrectly and honestly inedible. i'm sure it was a one-off, but still was a bummer! overall, would come again for happy hour, but maybe not for the entrees

I have seen this place many times but never went here. Some friends of ours wanted to meet here for lunch. I really enjoyed it. My minus 1 star is the set up. There isn't really any service provided besides bring the the food. You order downstairs at a counter then go upstairs and sit yourself. You also have to get your own utensils. But other than that it was great. We chose a table with a view all around. I got the Greek Chicken Salad and my husband got the Spicy Nomnam Bowl. They were both excellent! I definitely want to come back and try their dinners.

Very cute beach spot, perfect for a break from the beach before a return to the ocean or you can do take out (I think they might do beach-side delivery too). Great grilled veggie sandwich!

I hosted a small dinner for my MeetUp Fun Diego Ladies group. I wanted something healthy with a nice view and this place was a great choice! We came here on a Saturday before Mother's Day, so it was busy and service was a bit slow. It was understandable that on a busy holiday weekend, service would not be the best. I ordered an Asian Salmon Salad. Initially they forgot the salmon, but when I pointed it out, they brought it rather quickly. It was grilled just right and was moist and flavorful. The contents of my salad were very fresh and the dressing was light. All of the ladies in my group enjoyed their food as well. We ordered a bread basket to share and that was really good! As busy as our waitress was, she offered to ring up separate checks for us and even divided the cost of the bread! I look forward to visiting this restaurant again and trying out their other menu items.

Went home to Del Mar for a family event and needed to go out to dinner and went to Ki's. I have been here before for breakfast and it is awesome. The views from the restaurant are great with a beach view. So, you get to eat and enjoy the coast. I checked in with the Yelp app and they have a check in bonus. It was a free Spring Rolls. They are veggie and tofu with a fantastic peanut sauce. Everyone liked them and even those that don't like tofu. Next i orders the Macadamia Crusted Mahi. The portion of the fish was not huge but made up with it with flavor. The Strawberry salsa was fresh and sweet and added to the fish. The sauce with the rice was savory and just fantastic. The snap beans were fresh and just perfectly steamed. I would get this again. The finish of desert I had the Mud Pie and it was a solid fantastic choice. I highly recommend Ki's for a healthy and well prepared meal!!

We have been coming here for over 20 yrs... today there was any issue with my wife's vegan meal there was meat in it.. she spoke with the manager and he could have not been more helpful and went above and beyond to help her ... the best customer service of any restaurant!!!

Yes this was a hit. We came for the yellow curry and shrimp Perfect. A Yelp check in is a free appetizer . Spring roll plate with tofu center.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. You order at the counter and seat yourself upstairs which I enjoyed. It has a nice view of the beach and I thought the pricing was good. I think my eggs Benedict needed a little more flavor but I appreciated the salsa bar. My smoothie was yummy as well

My wife and 3 other couples ate here last night after playing pickleball! The food, drinks, appetizers were all amazing! The service was fabulous! Our server is the best server on the plant!!! The menu is varied so everyone was able to choose something delicious! Their mocktails are fabulous! Their specials were super good! The parking was easy and the view of the ocean was breathtaking! We will go back again for sure!!!

Love this place! I got the pancake combo with one plain and one banana nut buckwheat (they accidentally gave me blueberry instead of plain, I would have liked the plain better). Would definitely get the plain and banana nut buckwheat pancakes again. They have real maple syrup which is nice. It came with bacon (really good), breakfast potatoes, and scrambled egg whites. Decent prices and big portions. I like how you order downstairs and go sit upstairs. Amazing view and plenty of seating. They have really good muffins downstairs at the ordering station, I always get one to go! This time I tried the raspberry buckwheat and it was good but I'd like to try a different one next time.

Came here for lunch after a hike. I ordered a fajita bowl and a smoothie. Both were delicious! Healthy and fresh ingredients! Would eat here again!

Ki's has seating upstairs, with good views of the pacific ocean. The ceviche was excellent and fresh and the chips were good, on the thicker side. The waitress was super nice and we moved tables due to the loud live music inside the bar area. No attitude. Just chill. The steak special (rib eye) was so perfectly cooked, said my boyfriend who gave me a few bites. The Mahi was amazing. I had the peanut sauce on the side, but it usually comes on top. I loved it. They combine flavors of macadamia nuts, mahi, coconut and peanut sauce. OMG. It melts in your mouth. Book your reservation so you can watch the sunset. We should have gone an hour earlier and walked on the beach (across the street) before dinner. Maybe next time!

Food has no flavor, overpriced. Friendly service but so SLOW. Ordered a few appetizers, the mahi which was cold, the mossaman curry which was strangely spicy but without flavor at the same time and a kids grilled cheese that was burnt.

Great location, excellent food and our go to place for a beach breakfast!!! Can't beat the view and prices are very reasonable.

Wonderful happy hour with 50% off many appetizers. Great flavors and very generous portions. Especially like the mushroom dip with bruschetta toast and the deep fried shrimp. Unfortunately the kitchen forgot to make two dishes that took over 30 minutes to reorder. It didn't seem that busy and maybe they had a lot of "to go" orders. But the server assured us that the dinner dishes were ordered.

TOTALLY disappointed with our breakfast on Sunday, February 11, 2024. I ordered the 2 eggs with potatoes and toast. My husband ordered eggs, rice, beans salsa and guacamole. Both of plates were cold . The table we wanted was a table for 2, right in front of the window. There was no one around to wipe the table down. Thank gosh I had disinfectant spray in my handbag and used their napkins. It took forever for our food to come, and you can only imagine the disappointment when it was cold. The ambience on the other hand was phenomenal, how could it not be you're looking at the pacific ocean! We have been coming to Ki's for a few months and we're extremely disappointed with the food and customer service.

Great restaurant! My husband and I tried it for the first time about 2 weeks ago. Delicious food and a great view of the water. Our server Morgan was great and the hostess I believe her name was donata was so friendly. This is our new favorite spot in Cardiff

We love this place! My wife and I come for breakfast sometimes. The food and coffees and great! The view is unbeatable and the staff is so friendly!

Birthday, first dates or family dinner. Yes! yes! YES!! Parker was our waiter, and they were great!!! We ordered Mango avo Brie wrap, Lemon edamame, Mushroom brushetta; that's how we started. I also dig the elevated bar menu. No, they do not have a blender; don't ask. The bartenders are phenomenal, trust their choices. I'd tell you the mains we had, but; the menu changes seasonally. Just know it's always worth writing about and savoring each and every bite. Fresh. Real Food. Every darn day! Pro-Tips: The parking lot is small, make reservations; sit on the enclosed patio upstairs in the middle table; you can see the sea and the wetlands. Great chef, great service, great views. True gem

The food was good and I appreciated all of the vegan options (they have a specific vegan menu if you ask for it). You order downstairs and can either sit outside on the first floor or upstairs where there are glass windows all around. This matters because the ocean is across the street so panoramic ocean views. It wasn't too crowded during lunch, but it seemed like a good spot to get the girls together to hang out. There was a larger table of ladies in their 20s/30s celebrating a birthday and a table of 4 retired ladies that were eating and playing a game (looked like dominos) together. Many healthier options including the vegetarian curry I got. Also açaí bowl, sandwiches, etc..I'll totally go back as I want to try dofferebt things and you can't beat the amazing view!

I love this restaurant so much and I am delighted that I work nearby and can enjoy it often. The food is delicious and nutritious. The employees work incredibly hard and provide excellent and warm service. The restaurant is exceptionally well- run and their ingredients are always fresh. I really enjoy having a meal either outside on their sunny patio, watching the ospreys and other birds in the estuary, or upstairs in the sun room enjoying the ocean views. When I come to Ki's, I always have a great experience and this is a wonderful spot for the community.
