The Biggest Boston Restaurant and Bar Openings, October 2024 - Eater Boston

"Kismet, the highly anticipated cafe from the folks behind beloved local breadmaker Iggy’s, has opened its doors in Huron Village. Pull up a seat by the fireplace and catch up with friends over flaky croissants and expertly pulled cups of espresso." - Erika Adams

Author Kashana Cauley’s Grub Street Diet

"Serves an indulgent rabbit-focused meal featuring roasted rabbit coated in sesame and poppy seeds, a rabbit stew, and rabbit on skewers with seasonal vegetables (the reviewer notes it was onion season). Accompaniments include a tahdig-like rice topped with pumpkin seeds and currants and an egg-yolk center with a deliciously crispy brown-rice crust, plus lamb meatballs with steak fries and charred lemon; the meal pairs with orange wine and left the reviewer visibly obsessed with the rabbit preparations." - Zach Schiffman, Maanvi Kapur

Wonderful coffee and even better pastries in a very aesthetically pleasing atmosphere! We loved the almond croissant. Plus, the baristas were a delight to chat with.

I stumbled upon this spot online and had to check it out and I’m so glad I did! This place is hands down one of the most peaceful and aesthetically pleasing spots I’ve experienced in Boston. Honestly, it feels like something you'd find in LA. It has this elevated, modern vibe that’s super inviting. They have a great selection of pastries, all from Iggy’s Bakery. The croissants are perfectly flaky, buttery, and just the right size barely bigger than your palm. The coffee is top notch, too. We all got lattes, and I tried mine with their in house macadamia almond milk, which was absolutely delicious. It’s a bit pricey, but honestly, every sip is totally worth it.

Cozy little cafe with great pastries and very smooth coffee. I just wish the shop was larger so that there was more seating available. It was very busy on a Sat morning. Service was very friendly, and prices were reasonable for the quality. I'd come back!

Such an adorable little cafe! Although the street parking is kinda hard to find, its interior design is very charming. I really appreciate the café's cozy ambiance and excellent service. However, the drinks could use some improvement—the matcha is a bit weak, and the coffee lacks a rich aroma. That said, their specialty drinks are absolutely delicious! Bakery is good as well. Ham&cheese croissant is a must-try!

I love this place. My friend recommended me “you must go there!!!” I ordered elevate and cinnamon bun, they are amazing! The cinnamon bun is not that sweet, which is perfect

Google
Cute cozy coffee shop, but the peacefulness of it makes it stressful. They only have one size drinks (12oz) and it’s like $7.5-8. They don’t fill your drinks up all the way and it took like 15 min to get our to go coffee when others that ordered after us already received it. Wanted to try one of our drinks and the cap wasn’t on all the way and made a mess in the car. Been here once before and had a great experience, but after this, not coming back. Also- Kismet and Imagine is the same shop.

New unique café from the Iggy’s Bread team. For the past few months, Kismet has been my favorite place in Cambridge to unwind. Not your everyday laptop-and-latte cafe, but rather it leans hard into aesthetics over practical utility. The space is small, but they make it work beautifully. Instead of cramming in tables, they opted for plants, a fireplace, and lofty ceilings that fill the place with natural light. During colder months, the fireplace becomes the centerpiece that provides both warmth and ambiance. Pastries come from their main Iggy’s bakery, with a small rotating selection: croissants, cheese twists, and a couple sweets. Limited, but top-tier. Iggy’s is my favorite local bakery, and their croissants always deliver—flaky, soft, and never overly buttery. Difficult to pick a favorite, but I really enjoyed the Chocolate croissant, Almond croissant, and the Pepperoni cheese twist. Without a tray or full-sized table, it was almost impossible to eat these without making a mess, but it was a mess worth making. Drinks-wise, their “Healing” lineup seemed unique. Aromatic coffee-based drinks infused with dried floral petals and unconventional ingredient combos. Each drink has its own vibe and scent. I wouldn’t say they justify the premium price, but they’re interesting enough to try at least once.

Yelp
beautiful, cozy, and such a treat in our neighborhood that the Iggy's folks opened this cafe space. You walk in and are transported to a dream in another part of the world. And if you already frequent Iggy's, then you know everything is good here.

Yelp
Kismet has the coziest ambiance and the most unique cafe drinks. The staff were super friendly and make each drink to perfection. I went on a Saturday morning and there wasn't a laptop in site. People were meeting up with friends or sitting by the fire with a book. The Elevate drink isn't something I'd usually get, but it was super delicious and had a sweet flavor. I'd highly recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
I believe this is now called "Iggy's bread 'imagine' cafe". We went there on a Saturday morning shortly after it opened and the line was out the store. Fortunately it was a nice fall day. We ordered pastries and coffee. The coffee takes a long time, I'll give them the Benefit of the doubt for now since they just opened and have to work out some kinks. The pastries were very good, though on the chewier side. Still thoroughly enjoyed my almond croissant and latte. The seating area is cute but not very practical, in my opinion - thick benches where guests have to awkwardly crowd around, and the tables, while cute, are also impractical as they barely hold a tray and a drink. Overall good vibes!

Yelp
The ambiance is lovely, if a tad pretentious. The small tables discourage anyone who wants to work on a laptop, but that's not all--because apparently there is an "internal policy" to prohibit laptop use, even if you're resting the device on your actual lap. I was told to finish up what I was doing and put the laptop away. Which came as a bit of a surprise. I'm interested to learn what exactly the policy objects to: the duration of a laptop-user's stay? the content of what is on the laptop (work?)? the look of an open laptop? If there were a way to contact the management to ask for this explanation, I'd be asking them. Instead, I will leave this review--and I'll add that sadly my pretzel was bone dry.

Yelp
Coffee takes a long time -- for no apparent reason, as other reviews note. Hate, hate, hate the seating configuration. A long continuous u-shaped couch/ bench is really the only place to sit (one or maybe 2 small tables). This forces you to a) sit side by side if you're with a companion to talk -- never the best config for a conversation, twisting sideways to talk with one another and b) you're crowded beside strangers, kind of bum to bum, no personal space. The idea of providing communal space is ok, but for pete's sake put in a long table or two, people are ok with that. Sitting bum to bum along a couch is just the worst way to compel communal camaraderie as well as the worst way to have coffee with a friend or two. Won't be going back.

Yelp
Really good coffee. Really impressed with how the entire shop creates a distinct atmosphere/vibe. It's a whole experience. Deffinitely recommend.

Yelp
Absolutely a disgrace to the neighborhood. I asked for a basic hot chocolate and they charged me $6, made me wait 30 minutes, and gave me disgusting stale milk with no chocolate. Sassy hip workers and no seating available. Never again
