The Top Spots for Juices and Bowls in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"Kitanda set up shop back in 1998 with the goal of bringing quality Brazilian foods to the United States. The team now has five stores in University District, Greenlake, Redmond, Kirkland and Southcenter, where they specialize in açaí, coffee, and a selection of Brazilian nibbles and pantry staples. Come for the Rio de Janeiro açaí bowl, get suckered into trying the coxinha (shredded chicken croquette) and pao de queijo (gluten-free cheese bread made with tapioca flour)." - Lori Bailey

Google
This place would get an 5 star if it was not for the 30 minutes wait for our 2 Acai bowls, on a warm Tuesday evening, there was only two staff. I saw previous reviews about it being under staffed I thought I shouldn’t be that bad, our estimated time was 10-15 minutes which is fine, but 30 minutes really affects the experience. Our Acai bowls were done very deliciously prepared , well mine was. My husband’s Acai bowl did not have peanut butter as is supposed to.

Google
Kitanda always delivers when it comes to açaí—organic, fresh, and downright delicious. The São Paulo bowl is our go-to, and we get it all the time. Checked out the Redmond Mall location for the first time, and it’s got a great vibe, but the service was a bit slower than we’re used to.

Google
Best Açaí bowls and smoothies. This one is part of Redmond Town Center. Their Coconut buns are a must try!

Google
Kitanda is a brie-lliant find, especially if you're a fan of their famous pão de queijo. These little cheesy bites of heaven are the real gouda with a perfectly crisp outside and a soft, melty interior that practically cheddar’s in your mouth. Every bite is like a grate reminder of why cheese and bread are a match made in snack heaven. Pair them with one of their rich, velvety coffees and you've got a combo that’s simply un-brie-lievable. Kitanda has mastered the art of comfort food, turning every visit into a cheesy delight that’ll have you rolling back for more! A consensus view, waiting for the service here is like watching paint dry except the paint would probably dry faster! I mean, we came here for a meal, not a patience test. If I wanted to wait this long, I would’ve just gone fishing... at least then I’d have some reel action!

Google
Took an hour to get my açaí bowl in store on 6/8/25 from 11:40am to 12:35pm when there were literally 6 people ahead of me. I think they are also taking care of mobile orders and maybe that’s why it took so long? Not sure. Everyone was complaining. If management is reading this, you guys need to either hire more people or rethink about how to manage this. No offense to the workers, they apologized and were nice, but I don’t think 1 hr for that short of line is acceptable at all. Everyone kept waiting thinking line would move fast but the person in front of me ordered her thing, then they made her wait at the counter for like another 8min. Never coming back to this location

Google
Very nice ambience. One of the best atmospheres in my opinion. They have some winter specials on their menu. The Chococcino is divine. I highly recommend it. Hot cocoa was average - very slim in my opinion. Egg nog latte was decent. Service is quick. The coconut dessert was also tasty (bit sweeter for my liking though)

Google
I love the Romeo & Juliet sandwich and the cheese rolls. The food and drinks are always amazing. However, service is very slow especially in the morning when it's most busy and there's always only one person working! The Kirkland location has a whole team going at all hours, I don't understand why Redmond doesn't have more staff.

Google
Is exactly what I want in a cafe. Great coffee and clean food choices. Atmosphere is serene and is in the center of Redmond square. Can't say enough about this place. Sometimes service might feel a bit cold but actually they are very helpful. They take pride in what they offer. Love Kitanda.

Yelp
Wonderful, strong coffee!! Would go in to grab a coffee any day! The ambience is ok-ish inside. It can definitely be cleaner! Açaí bowl I selected had all the frozen fruits in, was expecting it to be a bit better. Its an all Colombian store with a variety of Colombian snacks.

Yelp
My sister was craving an açai bowl so we decided to stop here before heading to Paint Away next door. She liked that she was able to customise her bowl and get strawberries and honey like she wanted. I'm not really an açai person, but her breakfast looked pretty delicious. I decided to get their Sausage and Cheese Kitanda Bread with the egg removed and it was pretty delicious, but way too oily and filling despite being so small. It's the kind of food that tastes good while you're eating it, but makes you feel like trash afterward. My sister got an iced soy milk vanilla latte and I got an iced oat milk mocha. The coffee here is delicious and I loved how balanced the mocha tasted. Not to mention this is the cheapest coffee we've had in a really long time so in terms of value, this place is amazing. When we walked in, another few people cut in front of us in like so my sister decided to use the screen in the corner to order. A lot of things that they had in stock were marked out of stock on the screen including a lot of their hot food so only my sister ordered on the screen. We found out afterward that the oat milk that was marked out of stock on the screen they had so it was frustrating that my sister got soy instead of what she normally gets. I feel like it's not difficult to update what's available on the screen to reflect what they have in the store and it's not like it was busy. We also had to wait a really long time for someone to take our order which was surprising because no one else was waiting. We loved that all their napkins and cutlery were compostable and then they had clearly labelled bins to separate trash. Their condiment bar was organised and stocked. The whole cafe as a whole was clean and it was easy for us to find a nice table to sit and enjoy our breakfast. Maybe it was because it's the middle of the day on a Friday, but we loved the vibes.

Yelp
These 3 staff are not rude but treated me with racism. They wouldn't look at me, ignored me on my question, I wanted to order from the counter not the tablet kiosk because I got some questions (my first time coming here), they took orders from the two ladies that were ahead of me in line, I waited a whole 7 MINUTES at the counter and zero acknowledgment of my presence, they just don't like customers apparently. 3 people running the store and all of them are making food. A short simple 'Hi, I'll be right there with you' would be nice. After I placed my mobile order, another guy came in and one of the staff actually stopped what he was doing to take his order, HOW RIDICULOUS!

Yelp
The food is great. My kids have grown to love the cheese bread, brigaderos and kibe. However: The customer service is very lacking. I have given them more than enough chances as I'm always at RTC for kids' activities. They ignore me, forget my order and then stare at me like I'm stupid while I'm waiting. They ignore you when you ask questions.....it's odd that my husband has never had a bad experience but I do every single time I go. Makes me wonder if men are treated better? Either way, very disappointing and today was the last straw.

Yelp
Food is good. NOT The problem. I enjoy the options, it's clean, fresh, and often times the best choice considering the area. The service is close to 1 stars- but giving them 2 as a rated amount due to 1- 2 rare employees that's do a nice job (too bad I rarely see them working.) The customers feel rushed, not heard, and I often feel irritated with the lack of rules/ good communication. My orders are often slightly wrong, I hear/see them slamming things all over the place behind the counter, workers seem unhappy, and hardly ever let you get your rewards points in before they charge you. I wish they would work on the service here. It could be such a better environment to want to be in/study in.

Yelp
Love all the options when it comes to food and drinks especially the coffee. I'm obsessed with the bowls. Wish the service was more warm though.

Yelp
This is my new place for Acai' bowls. I have tried a few different ones. I can order online and my order is ready when I arrive. The bowls are great. Not crazy about the egg sandwich.

Yelp
I really enjoy the cozy vibe at Kitanda. Whether I'm grabbing a smoothie or indulging in their coffee and pão de queijo, it's always a delightful experience.

Yelp
Likes Fresh breaded snacks under $5.00!!!! The last of its kind, I purchased a delicious hot dog with croissant like bread for $2.30!!!! Delicious hot fresh love it!! I gotta check out their acai bowl next time, its smells Dislike This cafe smells too much like baked bread and melted cheese thats been sitting for 10 hours under your nose. Also the cafe wasn't too clean in certain sections. They need to ventilate their air better.

Yelp
Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambience 4/5 This was my first visit here and boy was I blown away by the wonderful coffee. I am not a coffee aficionado, but I know what I like and that is a rich, creamy, caramel like flavor with the right amount of smokiness. My Brazilian latte was perfection. I love that hint of sweetened condensed milk. I also tried the Romeo and Juliet, the Chicken fajita/cheese and the chicken cone. I didn't realize that the Brazilian bread was gluten free (even though I made it before), this was so yummy with that perfect gooey chewy inner part. That Romeo and Juliet was amazing with the guava and n mozzarella. Everything was delicious. The staff was friendly and even one of them spoke Portuguese which gave the place an authentic Brazilian feel. I really love this family run business.
google avatar

Long K.

Yelp
Sometimes you just need a caffeine pick-me-up in Redmond Town Center. I'm disappointed the Brazilian latte tasted no different than one I could get from Starbucks, not that I'm a supporter of the chain either. The condensed milk maybe adds some density to the drink, but essentially it was just milk with a splash of coffee. The rest of the drink menu is standard and if what I received was representative of other things, then consider me unimpressed. I don't need award winning service for basic coffee, but it seems the staff would rather continue on their conversation rather than start my order in a timely manner.
google avatar

Carolina A.

Yelp
Hate doing this but after many many years of being a loyal and almost daily customer to both the Kirkland and the Redmond locations, we were told today that we could not make a simple swap to their Lena açaí bowl (honey instead of sweet condensed milk), which we have always made before. Apparently it is "company policy". Not sure what Kitanda gains from this but as a customer, it's disappointing. I understand if I am asking to swap sweet condensed milk for something of a different category (fruit, granola),or more expensive but the swap we requested is 1 for 1. Not really worth upsetting a regular and loyal customer who has been getting that exact same thing for years!
google avatar

Rafia A.

Yelp
Cute and cozy establishment. I tried the White Chocolate Shake which was tasty for sure. But I have to agree with the other reviews, slow service and what seems to be unhappy employees.
google avatar

Roberto R.

Yelp
Staff was very rude today. They argued with me over some bananas. They didn't add them to my bowl and then said cause it wasn't on the slip. Sounds like poor management and training. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money at this place.
google avatar

Reeya C.

Yelp
tldr: Brazilian cafe. great spot for a quick bite, known for their coffee, acai and specialty bread! This spot is right next to Redmond Town Center, so it's great for a post-shopping treat. I found it on Yelp and was intrigued by their kitanda bread. Their websites says this is "a cheesy Brazilian snack made from tapioca flour that is fluffy on the inside and satisfyingly crispy on the outside." Plus, it's gluten-free. I ordered a Nutella kitanda and a Doce de Leite (Brazilian caramel) kitanda. They were good and the taste and texture of the bread matched the website's description perfectly. The Doce de Leite is overwhelmingly sweet, so be ready for that. I also got a Marengo (acai, coconut water, strawberry) smoothie, which was insanely refreshing.
google avatar

Wendi K.

Yelp
Hate to have to update this I still love the staff but the past 3 times I have been here they have just always been out of the Kitanda sandwiches!! :( and the pastry they heated up was cold/frozen in the middle!

Darien S.

Yelp
The store is incredibly modern and cute! I love their selection of teas they have, I always get the Bollywood with my mini bites
google avatar

Stacey P.

Yelp
Kitanda Espresso is conveniently located and that's all it has going for it. Their coffees, food, and other drinks are fine but nothing worth going out of my way for. The service here has been consistently dreadful. Most of the time I wander in during the weekend and they're typically not busy. It doesn't matter - there's been three people behind the counter just gabbing and won't even make eye contact. They seem to be fairly disinterested.
google avatar

Jacques I.

Yelp
Kitanda Espresso & Acai has been a Sunday routine. After boxing, my boxing buddies and I grab coffee here and hang out for an hour or so. It's been a fun time, and it helps that there's solid coffee here to perk you up after hitting the bags. I'm a fan of the Kirkland location, so when I learned there was one in Redmond Town Center, a place I frequent since my boxing gym is located here, I was happy to have this as an option for a caffeine jolt or cheesy treat. It's been nice being able to come here on Sunday mornings when the place isn't too busy, with just a few patrons inside, or getting takeout. I usually just order a drip coffee, which is always solid. But when I want to splurge, I do like their famous cheese breads, which they have a variety of. My personal favorite cheese bread option is the Romeo and Juliet, which is a guava paste and mozzarella. The guava paste really seals the deal, adding a sweetness and slight tart flavor to it, with the cheese. But really, even if you get a simple cheese bread on its own, you won't be disappointed. They're that good! For something more filling, their acai bowls are awesome! Glad to have Kitanda in Redmond Town Center for a post-boxing hangout. Space isn't too large, but is enough space for a large group. There's also a couch here if you plan to lounge, which is easy to do here.

ToniYa H.

Yelp
Kitanda is my favorite spot to go when I'm looking for something fresh and delicious. Their açaí bowls are authentic, packed and so yummy! Plus the staff is always so kind and caring. Highly recommend !
google avatar

Addison T.

Yelp
Unfortunately I do have to agree with others about the unfriendliness of the folks who work here. I come in often because I work near by and I like their chicken cone. Just make sure you ask for it to be well heated because I bite into the cold chicken filling inside plenty of times.
google avatar

Grace W.

Yelp
Definitely a consistent 5 stars here. The coffee is excellent and the food is delicious. We have gotten their hot dog and cheese rolls on many occasions. Their staff are always friendly and fast in getting your order completed. The space is clean and they have a lot of outdoor seating. There is plenty of parking in the parking garage. I highly recommend this cafe.
google avatar

Andrew T.

Yelp
thought I'd finally get out of the house for once and try a new coffee spot. In my eyes, this is probably where I'll come to work instead of a Starbucks in the future. Super friendly and helpful service, amazing Brazilian latte, and really liked their cheese bread breakfast sandwich. Wifi is free here, and there's plenty of parking around the Redmond town center, so swing by for some Brazilian coffee and to get some focus time. The only reason I wouldn't give this place a perfect 5 stars is, as noted in some of the other reviews, cleanliness could be a bit better. Totally understandable as things are just starting to open up again, but the bathroom was completely out of toilet paper when I visited and it seemed like there were crumbs/stains on quite a few of the tables.

Goblin S.

Yelp
food was good ngl, definitely would come back, service is good too, and the ambiance is nice, good place
google avatar

Marissa F.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying yum! I got this Dragon fruit refresher, but can't remember the name. It was delicious. Truly refreshing. It wasn't too sweet or water and had great balanced flavor. I would get this again!! Customer service was great. The thing with this place is the wait. My goodness. It took about 20-25 minutes for me to get my order. It didn't look like they were short staffed or that it was super busy. Sure there was a line but the wait made me want to leave. I'd consider this place again. Still think it's worth a try.
google avatar

Shoshana E.

Yelp
*update 7/23/2023* Wow!!! There has been a 180 turn in service and ambiance! They just redid the restaurant and the service was prompt and with a smile. Thank you!
google avatar

Emily Z.

Yelp
So glad I discovered this spot! I ordered a Brazilian Latte and the Sausage, Egg & Cheese sandwich. The Brazilian Latte is absolutely delicious -- it's like a regular latte but with condensed milk, which makes it slightly more sweet and creamy. I love it! The sandwich was filling but still light, which I appreciated. The bread for the sandwich is naturally gluten free, which made it a bit more spongy than "typical" sandwich bread. I will definitely be ordering from here again!
google avatar

Jboogie L.

Yelp
Tried some treats from here: cheese coconut bread, romeo and juliet (guava and cheese), cheese bread, coxinha (chicken cone), and kibbe. Service was okay. A little harder shell for the chicken cone. This is right across the street from the swim school.
google avatar

J V.

Yelp
Walked into this establishment the other morning and fell in love. I ended up getting a Romeo and Juliet and also a Brazilian latte and both were soo good. 10/10 definitely recommend. Another thing I loved was the service. The manager Gui was in top of it and made sure the customers were taken care of. I can't wait to go back!!
google avatar

Marie S.

Yelp
The service and cafe were great. Ordered the beef pocket and chicken cone. The chicken cone was still cold in the middle despite being heated up. Both needed spice or extra flavor. Would not be back.

M S.

Yelp
I've been going here consistently for a few months, I like the food/drinks alright, but I mostly go out of convenience. The people who work there are slow and never crack a smile. I don't care if you don't want to talk to me but maybe like, refrain from acting like it's the biggest inconvenience in the world to just uh do your job, that you applied for. Pastries are always frozen in the middle so if you get one make sure to ask them to cook it 2/3 times. The last time I went I noticed the $6 drink I always get is supposed to be 16 oz (the red bull drink with only a couple pumps of flavored syrup). I said this red bull is only 8 oz, what's the other 8? First she said "no it's 16 oz" like I'm an idiot, so I pointed right to where it says 8. So she asked her manager what the other 8 are and she said "ice".... lol so I said half of the drink is nothing and you're charging me for it? You don't do that with coffee. And she said "uhhh yeah we do, milk, water?" She might as well have said duhhhh. Don't try to talk back to your customers when they ask you a valid question. Coffee uses a splash of milk, and lattes ARE milk. You pay for milk, you don't pay for ice. So I asked her how much just a red bull is- $2.64. So more than half the cost of the drink is for ice and a pump of syrup? Get outta here. Such a rip. Just for that not going back, which I'm sure they're glad about because I couldn't help myself but to talk back to them the way they did to me as if I were an idiot. I've never complained about the size of the smoothies (kids sized cups), I've never complained about receiving frozen "hot" foods. I've never complained about the ridiculously slow pace at which they move when I'm on a break at work and there's one person ahead of me. I hate to say it but Starbucks around the corner is always a much more pleasant experience, food, friendliness, atmosphere, all around. Ok byeeeee

Yelp
very good breads, my favorites are Cheese Roll and Coconut Bun and in cafes the Brazilian latte is very delicious, 100% recommended and the employees are very friendly.

Yelp
What a find! I was staying at the Marriott across the street. I was stoked to find a Brazilian cafe that served pão de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread) as sandwiches - sweets and savories. Back home in CA, we enjoy a quite a churrascaria places and always inhale the pão de queijo!!!! So to find a place that specializes in them...chefs kiss. Anyway, I got the Sao Paolo açaí bowl which was simply açaí, granola, strawberries, and sweetened condensed milk. It was so good! 10oz was a perfect size. The pão de queijo sandwiches are a bit small but filling. They're traditionally gluten free and made with tapioca flour. Because of this, the texture is a cross between mochi and Cheese bread. I can tell from some of these reviews that they were not aware of this fact and/or never had mochi before. If chewy gooey goodness isn't your jam (I get it, textures can be weird) don't knock off stars for what it's supposed to be. That would be like judging ice cream for being cold. Anyway.............. We also had the Brazilian latte which is just espresso and sweetened condensed milk. Simple but good. Definitely check it out!!!!

Morgan C.

Yelp
I love Kitanda and have good service at the other locations but every time I come to this one, it's absolute shit service. As soon as you walk in you feel unwelcome. No "hello", no "you're welcome", and no eye contact. There seemed to be a language barrier with the man taking our order and instead of asking me to clarify, he threw a hissy fit and walked away grumbling and had another employee ring us up (she was also rude). Açaí bowl was good though! Lol
google avatar

Erin H.

Yelp
Extremely long waits each time I've came for coffee, but I semi-understand since it seems like a lot of people order food items (vs places where they are only cranking out coffee). This last time I went, the wait for coffee was over 30 min, which is just too long for me! I'm not sure when the ideal times to go are, but the coffee style is interest enough to try if the lines aren't long!
google avatar

Erin S.

Yelp
I had been craving an açaí bowl for over a month, and I finally went to get one the other night at Kitanda! All the açaí bowls sounded so good, but I ended up going with the Rio de Janeiro, which came with banana, coconut, dried mango, hemp seeds, honey, and granola. It was amazing!! The açaí itself was super good -- not too sweet but not too plain. The dried mango was definitely my favorite part of the bowl. My boyfriend ordered the Festa, which came with granola, banana, coconut, cacao nibs, and a condensed milk drizzle. His was great as well! I was pleasantly surprised by the pricing for these bowls. It was definitely reasonable, especially compared to some of the other places I've been. I wouldn't say the service was the best, but I didn't really need it. The guy working that evening was quick and efficient, and we loved our bowls, so there's nothing to complain about. I wish we had one in Downtown Kirkland! I'll be back soon:)
google avatar

Megan G.

Yelp
Great coffee and tasty acai bowl. Sadly there's no atmosphere and the staff obviously are just doing a job. Get that right and it would make a world of difference.
google avatar

Jenn L.

Yelp
I had the bread bites, Brazilian latte & Lena açaí bowl delivered & everything was amazing. Everything arrived fresh and I enjoyed every bit of it! I highly recommend and can't wait to order again.

Alexis A.

Yelp
I'm never the one to leave reviews but this experience I had at this cafe was everything but good. I walked in early morning to grab an açaí bowl before I workout. The workers don't greet me nor say even a hello. It's like do you even want me to come in? I didn't feel welcome at all. The guy worker looked at me and told me to wait a minute because I was at the register, still no hi or acknowledgment. Just overall terrible service. I felt like he might have been stressed out but it wasn't even busy at 8 am. When I left, no thank you or goodbye but at that point I'd be surprised if he said anything at all. Wont be going back to this location
google avatar

Sarai G.

Yelp
I drove out for a delicious Açai bowl. Kitanda never disappoints. I enjoy the Rio de Janerio Açai bowl. The dried mango is my favorite. I tried the cheese roll & my goodness was it delicious. I also tried the coconut roll- it was on the sweeter side. The employees were so kind in fixing my order since I accidentally ordered a smoothie but was intending to order the Açai bowl.
google avatar

Poonam S.

Yelp
Ordered the Brazilian latte and was really delicious. Not too sweet not too strong, just right. It's located in the Redmond Town Center towards the outer end. It's really nice to have a coffee shop other than Starbucks in that mall open after 6:30 pm. Would love to see more variety of coffees. Price is lesser than Starbucks with more authentic taste. Taking a star out because of limited selection. Didn't see Pumpkin Spice latte or for that matter any wintry coffee on the menu.
google avatar

Brian F.

Yelp
A nice place to get a quick healthy breakfast if you're on the go. This place is right across the street from the Seattle Marriott Redmond hotel where I stayed. I was heading to the airport and wanted something healthy. I actually took a while trying to find this place because the pin on the Yelp map is a little off and the restaurant's sign is a little hard to find. This place is right next to the kids playground across the Marriott. They have acai bowls as well as smoothies. I ordered the proteína smoothie ($7.99; 16oz) since I didn't want to eat a bowl. I thought it was decent; the only thing that kinda bothered me was the graininess of the protein powder. I guess I can't complain because I ordered the one with protein powder in it. There also aren't a ton of options for smoothies (only 3 if I remember correctly).
google avatar

Chel R.

Yelp
Best Acai I have had in the states... And the Pao de Quejo is perfect! We have been visiting here frequently because of the food quality. Coffee imo is not good and I only docked two stars because the cleanliness. The past 5 times I've been there the front door was smudgy and tables were dirty.
google avatar

Jes T.

Yelp
We walked in, the place was not busy. One customer seated on his laptop, us and 2 other customers placing orders. Tables were sticky, crumbs and trash on counters an floor. We sat for 30 minutes, 2 employees working, the guy just pacing back and forth behind the counter. He had time to clean and wipe tables. Coffee was good.

V H.

Yelp
Mediocre service. The workers behind the counter look like they don't want to be there (which I understand!! But come on, maybe a little bit of liveliness?). Delicious cheese bread and the coffee is decent.
google avatar

Daniel O.

Yelp
I've been coming to this location for years and the food has always been great. This location seems way under staffed and the service is beyond slow. It is the slowest kitanda out of the three I've been to. It's getting ridiculous here and it's really uncomfortable having so many people standing around waiting.

Courtney D.

Yelp
Service here was terrible. One of the young men at the counter made me have to hold back my tears after a simple misunderstanding. He was very rude. I understand people having bad days... especially food service workers. However, I was nothing but kind to this young man and simply asked him a question. Anyways, I won't be coming back and I hope that man has a better day and learns how to take out his frustration properly next time. I left here feeling very disrespected.

Yelp
So happy to find this gem after a doctors appointment. Not sure why the rating isn't at least 4 stars. Food is great! Good quality and good prices! Highly recommended
