9 D.C. Area Restaurants Supporting Their Neighborhoods Amid the COVID-19 Crisis | Eater

"Samantha Lebbie-Adderley and China Adderley, the married couple behind this brand, are focused on empowering Black-owned businesses and making soul food accessible to all. You can enjoy their Caribbean-inspired soul recipes at The Kitchen Jerk, where Lebbie-Adderley brings her parents’ traditional flavors from Sierra Leone, and Adderley infuses her family’s traditions from the Bahamas. Fortunately, whereas many restaurants have struggled to change their business models during the pandemic, this restaurant — located inside the Mess Hall culinary incubator — didn’t have to pivot much since they were already carryout-only." - Vox Creative

Me and my fellow foodies decided to try this place after work today and we didn’t regret it! We did have to wait a little for our food to be prepared but that’s because everything is made fresh and it’s definitely worth the wait. The owners were very friendly and attentive and because of the wait they threw in a soda for our meal. I had the Seafood Medley, Crab Mac and had to try their beef patty! Everything was really good! I highly recommend it!

The Kitchen "Joke"! Ordered here for the first time and my taste buds were watering while waiting for my food delivery. I ordered two orders of the Honey Old Bay wings, crab mac & cheese, and yellow rice. So disappointing, both orders of wings were rubbery and hard and I couldn't even bite the skin off the chicken! Literally the texture was biting into and chewing rubber bands! Tried putting them in the air fryer and it did not help. Called kitchen jerk to tell them my wings were rubbery and that they may want to taste test or evaluate before cooking order for the next customer. I only got "sorry" from the employee who answerd the call.

Usually 5 stars on a food review isn't normal, unless your food is that good.. the food is that good.. i enjoyed the chicken pasta. loved the jerk wings..i dont have a single complaint! The customer service is a 5.. please support them, they deserve it.. side note.. the cabbage is great too!

This establishment was at SITW and were very unorganized and rude. I ordered wings at 3:30 and was told there would be a 10-min wait. It is now 4:28, and I asked for an update and was told another 30. No refunds were offered. One women came to the front and said do not rush her. Update: It is 4:40, no food and I got a refund.

Ordered on UberEats. The crab Mac and cheese was a hit with my daughter. She’s 12 and has discerning taste buds. She will tell me right away if she prefers a different Mac and cheese. Nope. She was in heaven. I also ordered the jerk wings!!!!! So very tasty and not too spicy. My husband tried the wings and immediately said “Go ahead and put a heart next to this place.” High praise from a persnickety Trini man. We will be ordering from here again.
