"This spot on a quiet block in Roscoe Village is exactly where you want to unwind after work. There are weekday Happy Hour specials on their cocktails from 3-6pm (served out of cafeteria-style bubblers), and for $20 you can get everything on their limited menu: chips with three types of dip and a basket of four taquitos in various (and tasty) flavors. Sit inside or outside, play a game of Ms. Pac-Man, and watch reruns of old game shows above the bar. It’s like kicking back at home, except you get to say that you actually went out." - Marnie Shure

"Arriving as a re-concept of the former Bangers & Lace at 1851 W. Addison Street after an eight-month slumber, Kite String Cantina officially unveiled tonight; I found the space darker and more bar-like than its predecessor, with a neon kite hanging over the bar as a nod to the name and the idea of the string that once connected the moon to the earth. Chef Renee Ragin (Frontera Group, Local Foods) and her staff execute a small menu of gourmet taquitos from an old-fashioned roller grill, plus chips, dips and alfajore cookies, while barman Andrew Ragin runs a beverage program highlighted by four tropical cocktails from a bubbler machine, a few other cocktails, 20 draft beers and a cheap beer. The concept aims to give a little taste of comfort and transcendence through great beer, bubbler cocktails and gourmet taquitos, and is open 3 p.m. until 2 a.m. Sunday through Friday and 3 p.m. until 3 a.m. on Saturday." - Daniel Gerzina
