The Best Korean Restaurants in New Malden

"Walk past department store Tudor Williams (a time capsule from the eighties) and the Korean buffet restaurant Kimchi Village to find KJ. The Japanese dishes are said to be excellent, but the section to study is the Korean casseroles, the best of which is haddock roe tang (or al-tang) — a spicy, pungent stew made with generous chunks of fish roe, served with rice and pickles. At night, it offers a charcoal barbecue menu — worth mentioning as many places now use gas." - MiMi Aye

Great food totally let down by the poor service. Such as shame because if they cared more I would recommend for everyone. Staff take ages to even take your order, and take even longer to prepare it. Even at off-peak times you can expect to wait an 60-90 minutes for food! Additionally, for larger orders items are often missing entirely. And you'll be waiting another hour for it to come out. My mother was forces to wait 45 minutes because they forgot to cook her dish and were not in a hurry to get it out to her. And do not come here if you have dietary restrictions. Most times I have been the ball is dropped somewhere, with either the chef or servers not acknowledging the changes made to dish. But the food can be wonderful, and if they get it right, it can be worth the wait. But I can't recommend it while there are so many other fantastic Korean and Japanese restaurants about that serve cheaper food that comes on time as I ordered it. What a shame.

It's 1st time I've been to kJ since the pandemic and the sashimi meal I had was delicious I was lucky enough to sit down next to someone who is having the same meal and we chatted about our selection and really enjoyed the authentic Japanese meal. I would recommend this restaurant for sushi and sashimi they are prepared well, tasty and it's beautifully presented

Food was very meh. The beef in my hot stone rice were like jerky shreds. The seafood pancake was black in the base which was such a shame cos it otherwise would have been great. The strangest thing is, tables were left uncleared as customers left so by the time we were eating ALL the tables in the restaurant were covered with stale dishes - we were surrounded! Very strange practice…….

Korean style Japanese restaurant. One of the few places in New Malden that can accommodate business partners and customers due to the private rooms and the course menu with two options of £40 and £50 per person. There are also many a la carte dishes, so you can enjoy dishes with family and friends according to your budget. As seen in the picture, Korean side dishes are provided free of charge. RATINGS Food : 4/5 Service. : 4/5 Value : 4/5 Atmosphere : 3/5

We wanted to go Ktown bbq but the wait time was 2hrs and we really need food to eat so we searched and ended up at KJ restaurant. Our expectation wasn’t high but we’re not disappointed because the food was delicious and especially the Spicy and sweet chicken and the Kimchi soup was delicious and spicy

Very busy during the eat out to help out days. Need to book in advance. Seems to be authentic Korean. The lettuce is very fresh. The beef bulgogi is only ok. Bibimbap is a nice one.

Yelp
this restaurant is cute with lovely wooden furniture and 2 private booths if you wanted privacy. it feels authentic and we liked that a lot. the menu is massive with loads of choice of both japanese and korean cuisine. we have not had much korean food so not sure if the korean dishes were tasty but i eat alot of japanese food so i definitely know that their sushi and sashimi was great quality. would recommend the japanese food. the korean mains were given to us super hot and sizzling and very large portions. worth a try! its a v quiet restaurant, wasnt busy on a friday night, they play K-Pop music in the background but it wasnt too loud, so good to have a proper serious conversation with your company.
