A Running List of Restaurants That Closed in New York City, March 2021 - Eater NY

"Newly opened Caribbean cocktail bar Km1 is no more. Less than a year after opening, the bar has been replaced by two vegan restaurants, VistroBurger and PurpleThai, which operate from the same address." - Luke Fortney

The Best New Delivery Options In Manhattan - New York - The Infatuation

"If you’re looking for a place to pick up Dominican food in the East Village, try KM1. This Caribbean restaurant on East 1st Street opened in August, and in addition to things like chicharron and honey-glazed jerk wings, the menu has a chimi burger, some extremely crispy mofongo with skirt steak and a light tomato broth. They also have non-meat Dominican options like a vegan pastelón layered with mushrooms and coconut sauce, and shrimp mofongo. KM1 also serves tiki mocktails and cocktails like a pina colada in a pineapple, for takeout and delivery." - Nikko Duren

The Best New Restaurants On The Lower East Side - New York - The Infatuation

"More great, new Caribbean food - this time with a focus on Dominican dishes. Before you send us a pedantic email: yes - we know that Km1 is located on the northside of Houston Street, which technically disqualifies it from Lower East Side-dom. But when you try this restaurant’s skirt steak mofongo and honey-glazed jerk wings, you’ll be glad you saw it mentioned here. Stop by KM1 for their covered outdoor dining, call 646-669-7547 for pick-up, or place your delivery order online." - Hannah Albertine

3 Great Dominican Restaurants In The East Village - New York - The Infatuation

"Neither Rossy’s nor El Riconcito are offering outdoor dining at the moment, so if you’re looking for a place to sit down for a chimi burger and some extremely crispy mofongo with skirt steak and a light tomato broth, try KM1. This Caribbean restaurant on East 1st Street opened in August 2020, and in addition to things like chicharron and honey-glazed jerk wings, the menu has a bunch of meatless Dominican options like a vegan pastelon layered with mushrooms and coconut sauce, a shrimp mofongo, and a vegetarian chimi burger. They’re still waiting for their liquor license but, in the meantime, try one of their shaved ice frio frios (we like the tamarind one). Stop by KM1 for their covered outdoor dining, call 646-669-7547 for pick-up, or place your delivery order online." - Hannah Albertine

I stumbled on KM1 by accident and it was such a pleasant surprise. The owner and chef, Steven and chef Joy are such pleasant people and truly have a knack for creating innovative dishes that still feel so familiar to a first-gen Caribbean person like myself. AND there are tons of options for people who are plant based, vegan, and/or gluten free. I cannot recommend this place enough! I personally texted all of my friends to tell them to come too! And that’s just on the food! I tried a drink that was also spectacular! Safe to say I will become a regular at KM1. Looking forward to my next visit!!

I really enjoyed it here! Great environment indoors, awesome cocktails and everything is vegan! My SO is meat avoidant so this place is perfect. We got the pasta- the “beef” taste was captured really well; tasty dish- absolutely recommend! Folks who work here are really kind as well, fun bonus for frequenting. Eat local!

We were visiting my brother in the City and he brought us here because we love Caribbean cuisine. I would highly recommend coming to check this place. All of the food and drinks were delicious. As a group of 4, we ordered 4 different drinks and 6 different food items and none of them left us disappointed. The owner stopped at the table to talk to us a little bit and was super friendly and welcoming. Definitely check it out!

Wow! Let me say that when in LES, this is a go to! This restaurant was raved to me by a friend and it exceeded expectation. The owner, Steven, takes such pride in his work and the food that when you take a bite you can taste it all! We got the Mofongo was the greatest Mofongo you’ll ever have! The Dominican Spaghetti will warm your stomach. Very vegan friendly and incredibly delicious. Can’t wait to come again !! Thanks, Steven!

This restaurant is a welcome addition to the neighborhood's already bustling dining scene. Around the corner from some of the most famous LES places, Km1-Kilometro Uno continues to deliver exceptional food over and over again. The truffle fries are the best and the flan is the only flan I've ever finished—I normally don't like flan! Must-haves include the shrimp in a pineapple with out-of-this-world flavor and the chicken wings! I'll definitely be back (for my 5th time).
