Love Croissants Review - Midtown - Houston - The Infatuation

"Love Croissants, a small counter bakery inside of Weights + Measure in Midtown, puts the percentage and name of the fancy butter in the croissants right on the menu—82% beurremont beurre—so you know it’s serious. Try the buttery, airy, and deeply satisfying pain au chocolats, croissants stuffed with extra thick layers of smoked ham and asiago, and something called a “crolache,” a uniquely Texas mashup that combines a croissant and toasted jalapeño cheddar beef sausage kolache. And who needs cronuts when Love makes cruffins? Just make sure to go there early or order ahead online to avoid losing out to other laminated dough fanatics. photo credit: Chelsea Thomas" - Chelsea Thomas

Knead Love Bakery’s Gluten-Free Cinny Buns Take the Cake

"For Brooklyn baker Sarah Magid, who launched Knead Love Bakery from her Greenpoint apartment in 2019, the pastry should also be whole-grain, nutrient-dense, naturally fermented for four-to-eight hours, and incorporate enough local ingredients to support the regional economy and merit a new stand at the Union Square Greenmarket. Magid’s Cinny Bun is all these things. And, like the rest of her repertoire, it’s gluten free, which has made the baker a cult hero of sorts for those who follow that diet. But that shouldn’t deter anyone else."

I used to enjoy the feelings brownie and chocolate chip cookie but over time the texture and flavor has declined. Bread is always sticky gummy and dense when you cut it, and other items like the hand pies (now called pop tarts) are dry and crumbly. Other pastries I’ve gotten have been stale if not dry. Customer service has often been an issue - once bought an $80 pie that was completely collapsed, not even something you can cut and serve, and another time goods weren’t delivered on the scheduled day and time (ordered for an event) and a refund wasn’t even offered. Edited to add receipts given the owner's response: Order confirmation from $72 twixx pie, another holiday season I purchased $80 of goods ($68 pie + more for additional items). Considering these are orders from 2021 and 2022, and just this year I purchased a $60 gf pie from a Michelin guide restaurant ... knead love prices have always been exorbitant.

I have tried SO many gluten free breads in NYC that I’ve lost count, and the search is finally over. Not just the best I’ve tried here, but rivals the best I’ve tasted anywhere. Fantastic texture and flavor (it’s actual bread, vs. a crumbly flavorless bread substitute). Everyone in my family enjoys, both gluten free and gluten lovers alike. The “Nutty” is a favorite.

Best gluten free, refined sugar free, dairy free bakery in the world!!!!!! I get their GF sourdough bread every week and freeze it so it keeps for months. Sarah, the owner, is attentive and super sweet. She cares so much about her food and what goes into it.

Knead Love Bakery is at the Union Square Greenmarket on Wednesday, and bakes and sells gluten-free, natural sourdough breads and treats with whole grains. locally sourced with no additives or preservatives, with very high quality and nutritious and flavorful ingredients. If you like chocolate, I'd recommend the chocolate brownie which is mostly made with almond butter and dark chocolate from local craft chocolate makers such as Brooklyn based Raaka without the common soy lecithin, and with local maple syrup rather than added refined sugar. Many baked goods feature whole grain gluten-free buckwheat flour as well as oat flour which are very healthy. Some of the baked goods feature local fruits and berries. The bagels are all sourdough and dense with whole grains and seeds.

Knead love is a gluten-free godsend. I love getting their brownies, cinnamon raisin bread and everything bagels. Today I added some Rebel banana peanut chip ice cream after warming up the brownie on 275 for a few minutes.

I’ve been coming here regularly for at least 3–4 months, and yesterday I ordered my usual blueberry muffin—only to find egg shells in it. When I brought this to the attention of the staff at Knead Love, they initially denied that the muffins contained eggs and asked me for photos. I was genuinely surprised by their response, especially given how often I come here. Thankfully, another staff member eventually stepped in, confirmed that the muffins do contain eggs, and offered to swap it out for another item. Still, I was disappointed by the initial reaction and lack of basic courtesy. As someone who supports this small business every week, I expected better customer service.

Horrible granola. They don’t divulge any nutrition facts (which I guess they are not required to do). If your BP is high, forget the terrible tasting granola. So salty. I had no idea because nobody would answer my questions at the market about ingredients. Waste of $15. It’s going in the trash. Bad business practices.
