Old-school take-out institution for sandwiches, hoagies & sliced cold cuts by the pound.
"Koch’s on Locust is a neighborhood favorite in West Philly for all the reasons you’d expect: a great menu of hoagies, offered in grilled, double-decker, and classic styles. The Kosher Italian hoagie is a thing here, as is the Jewish hoagie, made with corned beef, pastrami, and more." - Dayna Evans
"Koch’s Deli has been handing out sample deli meats in long lines since before Ronald Reagan was a California governor. It’s easily the best place in University City to get a sandwich, especially if you like meat. They pile up to four different types of thinly-cut meats in between fluffy Italian rolls, resulting in a sandwich so thick you’ll momentarily wish you could unhinge your jaw like a snake. And, if you’re still hungry after you finish your sandwich, you should get one of their thick, creamy vanilla milkshakes." - Sydney Mcelwee
"University City’s Koch’s Deli has been serving the neighborhood and hungry college students since 1966. It takes a minute to get a sandwich since they’re all made to order with freshly sliced meat (the place is known for its corned beef and pastrami), but free samples for those waiting help pass the time. Each local college has a sandwich dedicated to it, like the double decker Penn Special with corned beef, pastrami, tongue, sweet muenster, coleslaw, and Russian dressing on rye." - Sarah Maiellano
