The Best Crab Cakes in Baltimore | Bon Appétit

"A banana-yellow neighborhood pub about 15 minutes northeast of downtown that’s beloved for its massive, precisely seasoned 11-ounce crab cakes made from daily-cut breadcrumbs and a recipe that’s been followed since the bar opened in 1985. The interior feels beachy and fragrant with crab seasoning; the intimate space turns over quickly (around 2,000 cakes a week) and reservations are recommended." - ByChristina Tkacik

First time being here. I have seen this place mentioned numerous times on TikTok and Facebook but never actually made it out here because it was a hike through heavy traffic. But never the less, when the opportunity came, we couldn't pass it up. Yes the traffic there was worse than I imagined. Took over an hour to get there. Let me tell you, that's a long way to drive... for me. When we finally arrived, it was a typical townhouse in the city. The parrot gave me the Jimmy Buffett vibe. We walked in and as a typical townhouse in Baltimore, it isn't that big. The place was long and narrow as you can see in the picture. It was pretty crowded. There was an eclectic and diverse neighborhood of clientele gathered all enjoying themselves. Not an ounce of pretension. People came for the food, company and just fun. Most of the tables were 2 and 4 seaters. There was only 1 six seater so it was good we reserved it for 7 pm. Well actually you can put tables together so I guess you can accommodate even bigger parties too. This is where old people stop using imagination, but I digress. Because of its limited capacity, I am sure they do a lot more carry out than dining in. The service was friendly excellent and fast. It was just nice to relax, drink, and eat. We all loved all aspects of it. Now the reason we went there. It's been awhile since we had some great crab cakes. Wife loves them crab cakes. Me on the other hand, while I do like them, I would not consider myself a connoisseur of it. But I do know what I like. And let me tell you, when I tell you this felt and tasted like all jumbo lump meat, I mean it. I am not sure how they keep it together with so little filling. All I tasted was crabs. I remember when 1 lb container of lump crab meat at Costco was nearly $50, this felt like that. Sitting there tasting nothing but crab and some seasoning. Not a huge salad person but the Caesar salad was huge. I ate half of it but finished the crab cake. Wife ate half her crab cake but finished her salad and finished mine too. She said she was craving salad but I know she was saving that crab cake for tomorrow. And of course she refused to share any. I should have saved some too but didn't have the will power to. Did I mention the beer was so cold and delicious too? It came in a chilled glass so it remained cold and refreshing! Nothing like cold one. Overall, everyone had a great time. Definitely a treat for everyone. Ps: they don't serve dessert but just as well. Had no room left because it was filled with food, beer, fun, good company, and a great time.

It's small, parking isn't great but those crab cakes DO NOT disappoint!!! The drinks were good too. I will be back. I ordered uncooked crab cakes to go and just had one tonight!!! OMG!!! So good. The only thing I was disappointed about was I ordered soup and I didn't get it and I didn't get it but I'm pretty sure I was charged for it. I should've changed better but I was in a crab cake induced food coma and couldn't concentrate when I got the bill. 😆 Despite that disappointment I'll be back for sure.

Like most of the reviews, I must agree. One of the best crab cakes Ive ever had in my life. Just straight lumps of crab meat, no fillers. I also had the raspberry wings, a mix of sweet and savory. I love peach wings, so I said what the hell ! They were better than I expected. The service is up to par. Everything came out in a timely manner. The server checked on us and kept our drinks filled. I will return here my next visit !

Koko’s Pub is theeee TRUTH! Amazing service, friendly staff and huge crabcakes (11oz)!!!! Definitely worth the value for the price point. Great vibe inside both in the seating area and bar area! Drove an hour to enjoy their crabcakes and will be driving back soon!

Google
Ok Baltimore!! If you’re ever in Baltimore, MD and looking for a good crab cake, look no further than Kokos Pub. The crab cakes aren’t just lump…they are “LUMP LUMP”. This small pub is very popular with the locals. They have a full bar and table seating as well. Carry out is available as well mail order. I ordered online and had some cakes sent to Florida. They were delivered fast, fresh and the packaging was very presentable. They also send instructions on how to prepare them. Good atmosphere, friendly service and the quality of food is top tier.

Google
It’s cramped, there’s tables on tables. I wouldn’t want to go here during flu season. With that said - the crab cakes were delicious, the crab soup was just as tasty. I am so glad we took the recommendation we did!

Google
Wonderful place. Food was great. This place was a hidden gem. From the outside you wouldn't know how phenomenal the food is. Drinks were very well balanced too. Crab cakes are the best, little filler and great taste. Burgers had an awesome flavor. Buffalo wings are huge. Lots of meat and great taste.

Google
What a great experience! The perfect combo of a place that feels like there are lots of locals/regulars and yet others are still welcome. And the crab cakes? Huge. ABSOLUTELY GINORMOUS. I can eat an embarrassing amount of crab at seafood buffets and I almost tapped out trying to finish my crabcake. And 100% lump crab. During the week, they have a crazy low price if you dine before 4pm…we missed it by 15 min but no regrets! Will be back for sure.

Yelp
Writing this on the side of the road outside of Kocos. Saw the crab cakes online, and decided to surprise my partner from Texas as she's never had the pleasure of blue crabs. (Also one year anniversary) we decided to make the more than 2 hour drive after seeing the great vibes! The food was amazing, however the service was what caused me to write this review. I have never been treated like an actual child at any restaurant until now. Our hostess was excellent and we had a great chit chat with the owner. Our server however refused to serve my partner drinks on the premise that Maryland doesn't accept vertical licenses (SHE ALSO DIDNT EVEN READ THE BIRTHDATE TO CLEARLY INDICATE SHES OLDER THEN 21) from other states (we're both above the age of 22+). Actually the most conversation we had the whole dining experiences was about how they weren't allowed to serve her a drink per Maryland law. So instead of enjoying the ambiance, I took time to see. Turns out it's completely their choice, and instead of telling the truth, they just chose to treat us as children and had the audacity to ask if we wanted drinks again later. I've worked in restaurants my whole life, and have never treated a table like this. I hope this is fixed in the future and that Kocos can fix their communication issues. Although I am happy with my crabcake, the experience is more than enough to not tell others to make the journey.

Yelp
Stopped into Koco's for lunch and honestly, while I expected a bigger space, what they lack in size they make up for with HUGE personality and amazing service. Every single staff member was so warm and friendly -- you truly feel welcome the moment you walk in. I even ended up having a great convo with the person sitting next to me (which is rare these days!), so the good energy here is contagious. We ordered the crab dip and crab cakes -- both were phenomenal. One little detail that really stood out: they serve your meal with a thick, seasoned slice of tomato. I've never seen that before, but it was actually so good and added a fresh, flavorful touch! Special shoutout to Brittany behind the bar -- her drinks were on point and perfectly made. Already looking forward to my next visit. If you're craving great food, chill vibes, and genuinely kind people -- this place is it.

Yelp
Roaming points north and hungry, Koco's showed up on my radar. Glad it did and we were lucky to get Kelsey as our server! Great gal and excellent service, she gave perfect recommendations both for drinks and entrees. Our table shared the Koconut Shrimp appetizer and I had a cup of the cream of crab. The shrimp were massive and coconutty crisp. The raspberry jalapeño dipping sauce slaps! My cream of crab soup was delicious with enough crab to tease the palate. The crab cake platter was so filling. 11oz. was all crab and zero filler! Oh man, again I couldn't finish lol indeed defeated. No complaints and drinks stayed flowing! Crushes so refreshing. Space was definitely filled with locals and nearly everyone came for the cake. Parking in the area is limited and dining tables can be reserved so call ahead. Bar tops only around the bar.

Yelp
Vibrant with plenty of regulars and new customers, Koco's Pub does not disappoint. The night colored interior with colorful menus and accolades along the walls adds to the vibe of the restaurant. Upon arrival I was informed about the recommendation for a reservation. It wasn't helpful since I was walking in but there was no issue putting my name of the list. They have bar seating and standard dining seating and the bar is not first come first served - the reservations were abundant so there was a bit of a wait. We thoroughly enjoyed our drinks and food. The rum punch is made well. The rum punch for two is a stronger version of the single rum punch and comes in the parrot cups. The individual cocktail is great too. We started with the half and half soup - half cream of crab, half Maryland crab - it was tasty. The bowl was hot and the seasoning was good. The Salmon BLT sandwich was filling. The bacon was crisp and added a nice touch. For the side we enjoyed the onion rings which were a good size and tasted fresh. The star of the evening was the crab cake for sure. Full of flavor and chunks of crab meat, it was truly worth the wait. The fries were hot and crispy and the cole slaw is pretty good. We received good service, the bartenders are friendly and attentive. I would for sure go back.

Yelp
Claws and Effect Spectacular family-run diner in one of Baltimore's more hipstery neighborhoods that's been in operation since 1985. This once formerly Zagat-rated restaurant was also named the #1 crab cake in the Maryland by Barstool sports. They also sell an average of 2k crab cakes a day--which is a lot of friggin' crab! The Good: *Great service by the staff *They do take reservations, but only by phone from what I can tell. The only reason I know is because that was the first thing we were asked when we walked in. *Craft brews on-tap *A lot of times a place can get hyped up as "the best," only for you to be let down once you get there. This is not one of those places. The crab cake was superlative and had a nice crunchy exterior and a nice moist interior with great fresh crab flavor. It's not cheap, but YOLO. *My Texas Burger was maybe the best burger I've had all year; juicy, fresh, and gigantic, this burger put me in a food coma. *Cream of Crab Soup was also excellent. Creamy, luscious, and highlighted the flavor of the crab. The Meh: *No outdoor dining *Street Parking was sparse on a random weekday early afternoon, but at least it's free. *No outdoor dining The Ugly: *The price on the crab cakes are outrageous and fluctuate with the market, but it was fucking delicious and worth every penny. So, let those words be your guide. Conclusion: Fantastic restaurant with great service and scrumptious food. Get the crab cake!

Yelp
Listen.... this was our first stop of the crab crawl tour hubby's birthday and it served! The only downfall was there was no open reservations for the weekend so we ordered to go. Let me tell you, the young lady who was training the other young lady ! She was so kind and patient with her and I love seeing that. I ordered the 2 crab cakes and 2 sides. Man, they were absolutely delicious and worth every penny! The next crab stop has competition because they got a 10 from us. Just go. The to go wait time wasn't bad and they text you when your order is ready. Will be sure to come back when in Baltimore and make reservations before flying in.

Yelp
Walked into Koco's Pub thinking my family of 4 would grab a quick bite. Walked out (slowly) questioning every crab cake I've ever had. This thing was massive--less crab cake and more crab commitment. Every bite was packed with crab, not filler, and by the end I was googling whether it's legal to marry seafood in Maryland. The inside was giving colorful Caribbean vibes, only thing missing was a beach view and breeze. The staff (and patrons) were super friendly with our girls (5 and 3) and chill, not giving the annoying waiter banter or pretentious attitude which is wild because with crab cakes this good, they could be snobby and I'd still thank them. But no--just good vibes and great food. Honestly, if this is what Baltimore hospitality tastes like, I might never leave.

Yelp
This place has been on my list for some time and I was able to check it out during a solo date with myself before picking up kids from practice. This was a great treat of self care as it was impromptu where I had extra time on my schedule . You can't miss the bright yellow exterior. Since I was solo and I was not aware of the need for reservations but, I was able to grab a solo seat at the bar. The restaurant is quite quaint so I can see why reservations are so important. I ordered a jr crab cake, cream of crab soup and a margarita from the bar. Everything I ordered was delicious and the staff were even better. Parking is very tight in the area so you will definitely have to be on the lookout. I will definitely be back as this place is a true Baltimore gem .

Yelp
Tuesday 3/25/25 I had heard a lot about these being the best crab cakes from people in my life and from MrChimetime on TikTok. Today I'm finally putting that statement to the test. My mom and I ordered online and got the double crab platter (2x 11oz) $75, so we could both have our own crab cake. She also got the koconut fried shrimp, which I was able to sample. Also great thing I ordered for takeout because it was PACKED inside. The service was pretty good. The lady who was taking care of me was very kind and friendly, and she made sure everything was all set and good for me. - These are the best crab cakes I've had and it's not close. They have very little to no "filling" like mayo & breading, it's just a whole bunch of crab. - Not too much to say about the fries: they're just basic unseasoned fries. - I sampled my mom's koconut shrimp and it was solid. It comes with a special spicy raspberry sauce that was cool but didn't really do much for the experience. My mom did enjoy the shrimp, tho. These are the best crab cakes I've had, and I will be back for more.

Yelp
I have heard for years that this was one of the best places in Baltimore for crab cakes, but I never took the time to check it out for myself. After seeing a review recently on TikTok, and seeing this listed again as one of the top 10 places in Baltimore for crab cakes I was ready to try it. My sister and I stopped through on Friday evening during peak dinner time. The only down side was there was nowhere to wait indoors until our table was ready. There was only a bench outside and a picnic table with a bench on the side of the building. Luckily, the weather wasn't too uncomfortable, and we did not have to wait very long (approx 10 minutes). Once inside, the magic happened. Very, very small and intimate seating (you could literally touch the folks seated next to you), however somehow, the staff makes it work so you don't feel crowded. We had the cream of crab soup, and the crab cake platter. Whew Chile!!! Let me tell you, this place definitely lived up to the hype. Big ole lumps of crab meat in every bite of the crab soup. Loved it! And the crab cake platter was just more of that delicious jumbo lump crab meat. It was well seasoned, and not overdone. The coleslaw was delicious, the fries were crispy, and it was a nice touch to have a little old bay on the tomato. I was stuffed and could only eat half of my platter, so I loved having left overs as well. The Hershey's gold chocolates were a sweet ending to a lovely meal. Will definitely be back for a repeat.

Yelp
Let me say this ! I don't care what anybody says Koco's Pub has the Best Crab Cake , I got a double order crabcake with a side Caesar salad. Excellent excellent excellent

Yelp
I had the crab cake platter! It was a deliciously meaty crab cake! The quality was great, customer service was warmed welcoming, and the place was clean!

Yelp
The absolute best crab cake - hands down!! I ordered via carry out and they were on time. Customer service was great even with high volume of customers. Very cutesy and hip location in Baltimore!

Yelp
After hearing so much about Koco's and seeing them on some best of Bmore lists, I got here on a Wednesday afternoon around 3:30. Quiet with a couple of tables occupied and a couple at the Bar. Smaller dining area with a standard length Bar area and some fun art/pictures with quotes on the walls. Their flagship Draft happened to be one of the Drink specials. Monument City's 51 Rye was a tribute to Baltimore's Rye Whisky history. 51% Rye-was a unique IPA with a spicy finish. Cucumber Rickey was another Drink special and unique cocktail-Gin base with cucumber sparkling water and Lime-I enjoyed it! While waiting for our to go order, decided to try some Jalapeno Poppers-just right spicy served with an out of the ordinary raspberry Jalapeno sauce-paired nicely! Tuesday's special offer is a Burger and Beer for $20. The Tuscan Burger sold out yesterday. After seeing this, decided to order a Burger to try along with their famous Crab cakes. It was the two 6 oz cakes platter. Solid Crab cakes with jumbo lump Crab and minimal filler. Our Texas Burger didn't disappoint. Cooked medium as ordered with tasty/quality Beef. Side of Crazy Greek Salad was excellent! Service was engaged and excellent both at the Bar and for takeout. Hard to miss given their bright yellow exterior with blue trim. A former "hole in the wall" with award winning Crab Cakes, elevated Bar/Pub fare and unique cocktails!

Yelp
Vibrant and fun hangout spot filled with locals enjoying the monster-sized crab cakes. Almost ever ordered the crab cakes. Either with fries, salad, or by itself! This spot of known for their crab cakes and it did not disappoint. The friendly servers know it and they're very efficient in cranking these out! My mom and I shared a bowl of creamy crab soup and a double crab cake platter with side of Cesar salad. Creamy Crab soup ($12) - think clam chowder without potatoes and tons of crab lumps. I was originally worried the soup's flavor would overshadow the crab lump. Luckily, this was not the case. The cream soup was a nice balance of creaminess and crab flavor which nicely highlights the crab lumps. Topped with some old bay seasoning, and it's a winner! Double crab platter ($75) - 2 ginormous 11oz crab cakes with a standard Cesar salad. The star of the show here is the crab cakes, which were baked to perfection and so flavorful! Sprinkle some old bay and enjoy these monster cakes with tartar sauce and cocktail sauce to change it up. One crab cake was more than enough for 1. 2 was perfect to share. The Cesar is a standard side salad. Lettuce, Parmesan slices, croutons, and dressing. I could do without the salad, but i wanted something healthier compared to the fries/coleslaw option.

Yelp
The vote is in, Koco's pub does indeed have the best crab cake in bmore. Koco's has been at the top of my list for places to try and boy did it exceed my expectations. The cakes are the size of softballs, all lump crab, and seasoned well without the use of a ton of filling. The pub itself is bright and cozy. It reminds me of being in key west. Service was extremely fast and friendly. Highly recommend making a reservation as this place can get extremely busy (understandably so).

Yelp
I pre-ordered my crab cake platter for Valentines Day and was excited that I got my order in before the rush. I awaited the text message the day of and proceeded to the restaurant after I received the notification. There was a line out the door but it was addressed quickly. The space was quaint and brightly painted. There was a large cooler of softball sized crabcakes ready for packaging to be cooked at home. The hostess were kind and patient with each person whether they were taking an order or answering a question. I gave my name and immediately received my order. My crab cake was beautifully broiled and filled with lump crab meat. The Caesar salad was fresh. The shaved parmesan cheese slices gave an enjoyable salty note to the meal.

Yelp
My crab cake hunt landed me at Kocos yesterday. First and foremost big shoutout to my waiter Ashley. She was dope and hella friendly. I was told to order the raspberry jalapeño wings. I was a bit skeptical because them flavors do not mix and I was correct. It was horrible. The wing itself is good but the flavor is trash. The in house made blue cheese was incredible. It helped mask the terrible combo. The half and half was good however, I had to add salt and pepper. It's not the best I've had and it's also not the worst. The fries were Simply amazing. Fried to perfection but needed salt. Potatoes need salt people or some type of dipping sauce. The Cole slaw was on the sweeter side and I'm a fan. My only take away is that it was room temperature. I need that joint cold big fella Now for the crab cake Aka the main star of the show. That bad boy was 11 oz. It wasn't the most flavorful crab cake I've had but it was enjoyable. I did not like their tartar sauce so I ate mine with cocktail sauce and garlic butter. For a whopping price of $71 for the double platter, I expected the crab cake to have more jazz. Make a reservation people. This pub is a hole in the wall and extremely small. Service is great though. All in all I had to give it 3 stars because the flavor wasn't there. As always #EatGoodAndBeHappy

Yelp
The crab cakes here were the best I've had. I come from California, so I'm used to crab cakes being puny, primarily filler, and costing $90 still. These were humungous and was like all crab! I tried a few spots while in town and Koco's definitely stood out since it was perfectly seasoned and broiled well. The others I've gotten had more filler or were bland. I made it before closing for takeout so I can't speak speak to the ambiance or service, but the person who took my order was friendly.

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday afternoon and sat at the bar with no wait. We ordered a half pound of steamed shrimp and they were absolutely delicious. They were very juicy and good amount of old bay seasoning. They were tender and perfectly steamed. Wr also ordered a crab cake platter and a single crab cake. The crab cakes were huge and mostly crab with very little filler. The only thing that could have made them better is if they had more old bay seasoning . The fries were seasoned well

Yelp
We saw so many reviews of Koco's crab cakes so we decided today was the day to try them out. We drove the hour from Bowie to experience their famous crab cakes. We called the restaurant to get a reservation. They were able to accommodate us. When we arrived the hostess immediately sat us down at our table. The restaurant was small but adorable. The restroom was VERY small. So small I hit my head on the door lock. Instead of two tiny stalls they would fair better with one decent stall. Our waitress was cheerful and friendly. She immediately brought us waters and took our order. We settled on the two glasses of Chardonnay for our cocktails. We shared a bowl of half and half soup, a ceasar salad, a crab cake platter that came with fries and coleslaw. The glasses of Chardonnay were buttery and delicious. The best part was that the Chardonnay was only $5 per glass! I need to mention that we asked for a second plate to share the food we ordered. The hostess brought over a paper plate. If I am in a restaurant, I expect an actual plate. This is not a cookout or a carry out restaurant. The half and half soup and the ceasar salad left MUCH to be desired. The soup had a good amount of lump crab but had no flavor and was watery. The salad was mostly the hard white parts of the romaine and it the dressing had a very tangy honey mustard taste more than the common flavor of ceasar dressing. The crap cake was FULL of lump crab meat and it was huge! My issue was that it lacked the traditional flavor of Maryland crab cakes. Some more old bay would have gone a long way. I must say the $40 price is worth the 11oz crab cake. The bill was brought and had two chocolates on it. Nice touch. Bottom line Koco is a good place for a drink and some bites. If they make small changes I would love to give them another try.

Yelp
CRAB CAKES REVIEW: A delicious crab cake experience. What I like about Koco's is their takeout quality is just as good as their dine-in. One of the best crab cake experiences I've had in Baltimore. The crab cake is large a full of jumbo lump crab meat with very little filler. Too much filler in a crab cake can sometimes overshadow an otherwise high-quality source of crab meat. I like that the crab cake isn't overly broiled which is good because you're able to taste the freshness and natural texture of the crab meat without feeling like you're eating a crab-flavored version of it. The Maryland crab soup is also delicious. Koco's does traditional pub-style food well. Overall a great experience and I'll continue to dine here for crab cakes. Parking is limited. I recommend ordering in advance to give them enough time to prepare the order. This place is busy on weekends.

Yelp
Fattest crabcakes that I've ever seen in my life! I understand the hype around this place. We stopped by on our way back to Jersey and it definitely was a great move. The crabcake was so juicy and tender and delicious. It's a little bit pricey but it's worth every dime! If you are planning to order to go try to order ahead because the place is buzzing with business! Next time I'll try to eat inside because it gives Margaritaville vibes which I would have enjoyed can't wait to return!

The crab cakes here were huge. We came with friends and we all got similiar plates -- the boys all got crabcakes and the girls all got the ribs. Both were split between the spouses. We had wanted to get the wings but there was no wings to be had since they ran out. They were very accommodating and allowed for us to have a cake and some cookies for desert there. We ended up having too much food and donated it to the kitchen staff. We will be back at some point for these crab cakes because they were meaty, little to no filler.

Yelp
Cute, vibrant corner place. Limited seating. Most ordered takeout. The Crabcake Platter for $41 was adequately priced for the 11 oz. sized Crabcake. Came with fries (fresh & hot), beefsteak tomato and 1 Romaine leaf of lettuce sprinkled with a touch of Old Bay (it IS Baltimore!) Crabcake was full of jumbo lumps BUT filled with the crab butter that we detest! Cooked beautifully on the outside but under in the middle, which made the inside more disgusting. They may have used a smidgen of Saltines and a hint of mayo to bind but very little and that's it. It's definitely ALL crab, which it should be at this price. The Grilled Chicken sandwich with Onion Rings was perfection! Pounded to the right thickness (1/4), seasoned, good Cheddar and nice, fresh beefsteak tomato, red onions and lettuce. The Tarter Sauce is EVERYTHING! Cocktail sauce is good to but more standard. Overall, would try again but for the lunch special 6oz size and less cost. Worth the visit.

Yelp
The food was amazing, creamy crab soup is a MUST TRY! As you can see I don't have a photo of my lump crab cake...because I inhaled it so fast! It was huge! I'm full for the day, for sure! French fries were perfect! The chicken wings were nice and crispy, the home made BLUE CHEESE IS TO DIE FOR! Service is fast, the ambiance is above a dive bar, but perfect for families or just a night out with the girls. The cocktails are great! Koco's is my go to when I have family visiting from out of town! I'll be back!!!!

Yelp
I couldn't come to Baltimore and not stop by the famous Koco's. I walked in with my boyfriend and we were greeted at the door. The server asked if we had reservations and we said no. She said that's fine and found us a table available near the bar. The ambience gives small town vibes. Everyone at the bar was having a great time. The waitress was nice and gave us time to review the menu. Although, we saw specials on the board, the waitress didn't go over them with us. We ordered the jumbo lump crab cakes with chips and fries. I see why this is the best place for crab cakes in Maryland. The crab cakes came out and had no filler. All lump crab meat. This is the first time I've experienced this. It was so delicious and filling. I ate half of the sandwich. I can't wait to go back and try other menu items.

Yelp
Best crabcakes I've ever had!!! Everything is so good. The cream of crab is filled with jumbo lumps of crab!

Yelp
Beat crab cakes ever! The crab cakes are humongous and contain very generous portions of lump crab meat! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Stopped by on the way back from DC. What a lovely place. Spotlessly clean. Polite and attentive staff and a decent quick eats menu. My salad was crisp and fresh and crab cake was solid. Will be back if in the area again.

Yelp
They offer the incredible crab cakes! The price is high but the crab cakes taste so good. Their crap soup, Caesar salad and fried fish sandwich were delicious too. It's a bit hard to find parking nearby and you definitely want to make reservation before heading to the restaurant. It seems to be always full. I highly recommend people to go for crab cakes there!

Yelp
I went on Tuesday at around 6pm and thought it would be extremely crowded from what I heard but it wasn't crazy. The staff were nice and attentive when I walked in for my pick up. You cannot call in an order it has to be placed online or walk in. They were quick with getting my crab cake combo ready, it was done in less than 15 minutes. Overall the food was good. The fries were crisp. The tomato was surprisingly seasoned. I wish the crabcake was seasoned the same way. The size was great though, definitely the biggest I've ever had.

Yelp
Must good to place whenever you're in the mood for crab cakes whenever you're in Maryland. Would definitely recommend getting a reservation prior to avoid the long wait time. The atmosphere is very lively and their servers are very helpful. My wife and I typically share their "DOUBLE" Crab Cake Platter and is more than enough for the both of enough. When we can't get enough, we'll order frozen crab cakes to bring back home with us. Definitely worth the drive down from NY!

Yelp
They were very busy and Crabs aren't really in season yet. I was very happy with the crabcake the shrimp and also the cream of crab. I feel the crabcake could've had a little bit more seasoning, but it was packed of backfin meat and it was an 11 ounce crabcake. I did not find any shells at all in my crabcake nice job. The cream of crab was very fancy, but I did find that it was average as far as taste, but it had a lot of backfin in it. The coconut shrimp was very tasty overall very good food.

Yelp
Finally. Been reading and hearing acclaim over Koco's for a long time. Today I finally visited Koco's Pub. An easy commute for me down Perring Pkwy/Hillen Rd to Argonne Dr and north on Harford. Parking is a challenge but we made it. I met up with two buddies as we get together for lunch every other month or so. It was my turn to pick and I chose Koco's for today's gathering. I'm so glad I did! The place has a cheerful neighborhood ambiance and vibe and is blessed with global recognition and the staff very pleasant but very professional. I believe this family business is operated smoothly and staff retention is high. Koco's attracts customers from all over as well as its neighborhood. So, what to order? All three of us ordered the single 11oz Crab Cake Platter with fries and slaw. We did order a gluten free cake 24 hours in advance per house rules... The cakes all broiled or baked to perfection , fries were killer and coleslaw crispy. 11 oz cakes for what most places get for 8 ounces! The three of us are huge (literally and figuratively) cake fans and chatted about the cakes offered by other joints. I mentioned my experiences with others mentioning the good and not so of each and concluded Koco's has Baltimore's Best Cake, bar none! Packed solid with crab, very little filler and satisfying bite after bite. I'm going to return. I salute the Koco family as they approach forty years of greatness serving our community! I hope to see the founder next visit... Until then, what are YOU waiting for?

Yelp
The best crab cakes in Maryland!! If not into crab cakes, the shrimp salad and even the black bean burgers are amazing. They take reservations too!

Yelp
We were told that Koko's crab cake was the best in Baltimore, and honestly we can see why! Shared a 11 oz. Broiled Crab Cake Platter (I think it was the double platter) and I'm still dreaming about it! We also had the grapefruit crush and key lime crush-- both were delicious! There's somewhat limited seating, but we were lucky and sat at the bar. Would recommend trying to get a reservation if you're thinking of having dinner here! The waitress was also super friendly and made our evening even more enjoyable!

Yelp
Tastes great. Pappas and this place have a rivalry (I like them both ) is mostly crab and it is caught fresh in Maryland

Yelp
A last minute change of plans resulted in going back to Kocos for an amazing dinner with friends. The Honey Old Bay Wings were amazing. The all jumbo lump crab cakes are even better than any other restaurant in Baltimore. Serving the local Hampden and Lauraville neighborhoods for years with dependable food in a friendly family environment.

Yelp
Let's get into it! So, if you're looking for a cool historic spot in Baltimore, check out Koco's Pub. So Koco's is a family owned business, which started about 40 years ago. Mrs. Koco had the desire to open a restaurant and her dream was to serve crab cakes and her famous crab soup which she would often make at home. So, as she would prepare these crab cakes at home, she decided to have the restaurant create the same size and shape, which was weighed at 11oz, because that's the size she was comfortable with making that fit her hand. It is the largest crab cake created in Baltimore and I would also like to say, all over the world. It is authentic, tasty, and ok...did I mention tasty?! I also love the customer service provided. I felt right at home. Special shout out to Ashley, our waitress, who provided a wonderful excerpt on the restaurant's history and jovial attitude altogether. My sister friend and I tried the Buffalo wings and boy oh boy, they were wonderful. They were fried perfectly and the sauce was amazing! I usually prefer ranch over blue cheese, but we wanted to try the blue cheese because it is made in house, and you can tell! The taste is authentic and I would love to have the sauce on a good ole wedge salad...but perhaps that's for another day! We ordered the crab cake sandwich and the double crab cake platter. I must say, I've traveled the world but this is it! Thanks for everything and I am looking forward to frequenting the restaurant again! Until next time...Cheers!

Yelp
A coworker has raved and talked about Koco's for a while so we had to try when we were in the area. The restaurant's decor reminds me of a shack on a beach or island. It was four of us and we were seated in just a few minutes. The waitress and service were great. The margarita, in my opinion, but the best thing was of course the crab cake. One crab cake is definitely enough, I actually was not able to finish it and had to take half to go. The crab cake has lots of crab and not just filling.

Yelp
I finally decided to make today the day I finally try the infamous Koco's crab cake. I've been hearing about it for years, but kept putting it off. I placed my order online and received a text saying it was ready about 10 minutes earlier than expected. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a nice lady asking if I needed anything else for my order. A friend suggested to me to get a roll that way you can also make a sandwich so that's what I did. I'd heard the crab cakes was huge and delicious, but that's an understatement! I'll definitely be back to have that again

Yelp
There is a reason that the mayor says Kocos has the best crab cakes in Baltimore...that's because they have the best crab cakes in Baltimore. The servers are so nice and efficient. If you can snag one of the window seats, they are great! Reservations are preferred but we came on an early weekday so seating was a breeze! The crab dip for an appetizer was fabulous, but filling. It made it difficult to eat my entire crab cake but not impossible! I got an orange crush with grapefruit vodka and it was fabulous and refreshing! Kelsey was our server and she rocks. Thank you Kocos for the best part of my trip to Baltimore.

Best. Crab cakes. Ever. End of discussion. Love the atmosphere. Service was on point. Limited seating; but worth it. Sitting at the bar is also an option. Koco's...ain't nothing better.

Yelp
Everyone knows that Koco's pub has the best crab cakes in the city & that's because it's true! My go to spot for crab cakes. They are all meat, no filler. And reasonably priced. The half and half soup is also great. The service is always amazing & the vibe gives cozy neighborhood pub. Perfect place to grab a beer, a crab cakes, wings & anything else.

Yelp
The crab cakes are worth the hype!! We drove from Waldorf to give Koco's a try and we are glad we did! I've never had a crab cake so big and delicious! Both margaritas were good but the regular one was better. The wife enjoyed the wing but was a little on the fence about the sauce. Great service, friendly staff. Suggest calling in to make a reservation or expect a wait. Clearly Koco's is a local favorite because the crowd came shortly after they opened at noon on Saturday.

Yelp
Absolutely one of the biggest and best crab cakes in MD. Lots of lump crab meat. Oh and the half and half crab soup delish. Definitely will return.
