It was a great experience in this restaurant, it was a second time here after 2 years, and it met the expectations again, From my point of view, it presents the danish cousin in a great way, Great combination of excellent ingredients, amazing atmosphere, and a great value for money. We will come back again for sure

We enjoyed the tasting menu at Restaurant Koefoed—beautifully orchestrated, thoughtfully presented, and full of flavour. The Bornholm-inspired setting with its vaulted white arches added to the charm, and the warm service made for a truly lovely evening. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience in Copenhagen!

Lovely restaurant, very well designed menu, with very tasty and pretty dishes, well balanced flavors and acidity and fattiness, and very kind and professional staff. Totally recommend!

Google
Koefoed is perhaps one of the coziest restaurants I’ve visited in Copenhagen, and the food was absolutely amazing. They started us off with complimentary snacks and bread, and the bread was a standout—so delicious! They also cater to gluten-free needs. The starter was absolutely delicious, and this quality continued through to the main course and dessert. In fact, we weren’t disappointed by a single dish. It was a true culinary adventure, and one I’ll definitely revisit.

Walked in for lunch on a Saturday and we managed to get a table for 2. It’s a smaller menu of only smørrebrøds and the food was delicate and lovely. We tried 2 types of herring and the fried fish fillet and all of them were amazing. Ambiance was cosy and comfortable as well.

The chef's take on the oxtail did it for me. Man, that took me by surprise. Every dish was good, but THAT Oxtail blew me awayyyy... superb service, great attention to details by staff, sufficient intimate space. The single client, as well as a couple on date night, would both feel at ease. Highly recommend 👌

I had mixed feelings about our dinner at Koefoed. The food was definitely more refined and complicated than most of the meals we had in Copenhagen. Overall it was a nice progression from seafood to meat to dessert. Plenty of courses hit their mark, including wonderful complementary bread and butter, which was refilled when finished. The meal lacked a vegetable or salad course, which would have lightened things up a bit. This was the only meal on our trip where I was stuffed at the end. Service was fine if a bit brusque. The only big beef was a 45+ minute delay between two courses. Clearly our order was forgotten, as everyone else’s meal progressed. When we finally hailed someone we were offered a free round of drinks, which was nice. When I got home I realized we were overcharged a drink on our bill. Probably an honest mistake, but a bad final taste. Still I’d recommend it.

Good but not great. Apart from the shredded crab dish, there were few dishes with distinguishing flavors and many came with a variant of a white sour cream sauce that did not pop much. They often succeed with the mouth feel of the combinations with crispy ingredients offsetting smoothness, for example. The veal dish was a bit tough and not so flavorful. The wine accompaniment was OK (2023 Barbera d’Asti too young and rough to be in the lineup) so you are better off picking what you know and like from the wine list. The breads were excellent and the service was very professional and friendly. The below ground setting is cozy with a series of enclaves seating 3-6 tables so you get a sense of enclosed intimacy. Overall price vs performance will be better elsewhere in Copenhagen.

Yelp
Our hotel recommended that we come here for an authentic Danish meal. Our server, Belen, was amazing. She explained every course to us. I tried their cocktail with their homemade shnaps and it was so good I had to get another. First they bring you these crispy I don't know what to call them with a wonderful dip( chive dust and cream) that tasted like onion dip. Next came the Sol over gudhjem. I'm not exactly sure what it was but I do know it was super tasty. The pastry with think pork belly on top was just ok. Next up was the squid which was good. At the same time we were given my favorite of the meal, tartar of cod. The sauce was so good I used the remaining bread to soak it all up. For the main course I had Hake which was divine except next time I would ask for no salmon roe as I am not a fan. For dessert the spice cake hit the spot. What a wonderful place to have a great Danish meal. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Koefoed. The attention to providing local food was clear from the very beginning, and we enjoyed several authentic Danish dishes. If you're shy of smoked and raw fish like we are, don't fret - the server happily requested our fish to be cooked, and none of the flavors were overpowering. Each course on the tasting menu (though not always things we would have chosen ourselves), was exquisite. We also enjoyed the wine paring and local aquavit with dessert. Our server Victor was extremely knowledgeable. This is an unpretentious Michelin-recommended dining experience you don't want to miss if you find yourself in Copenhagen.

Yelp
Overpriced smorrebrod. We were looking for a place to get some good Danish smorrebrod for lunch. and this place had good reviews. The prices were really high for small portions, and I have had much better Danish open faced sandwiches elsewhere. The rye bread seemed old, dry and hard, and the pickled herring was surprisingly bad.

Yelp
This was my gateway to Danish smorgbord and I couldn't be happier. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful as we navigated a menu with many delicious options. We landed on a sampler smorgbord platter plus additional sandwiches to try. Each dish was so carefully balanced in terms of flavor I was happily surprised. No over pickled or excessive salt here. Complimentary dishes that warmed my belly and satisfied my desire to try local goodies. The curried pickled herring had an apple slaw that just melted in my mouth. Hub had fried flounder with shrimps & dill. Friends had steak tartar and fishcakes. I can't say it enough - every bite was thoroughly planned and well executed. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
The murmurs of Restaurant Koefoed are starting to expand into soft cheers, and so I figured now was as good a time as ever to take advantage of my office department's need for a Christmas Lunch location, my boss' childhood spent on Bornholm, and my desire to check another restaurant off my list in CPH. Koefoed did not disappoint even remotely. Their service was exquisite, the food was phenomenal, and oh man, the desserts. THE DESSERTS. All homemade, they even had their own infused honey snaps. Definitely a winner, and I will undoubtedly be back to try something other than their Christmas lunch. Worth noting: I hate herring, and I ate their herring, because it was SO GOOD.

Yelp
Wow... What can I say? This was probably the best meal I have every had. And that is not an exaggeration, and I am wowed because I've been to some good restaurants before. I don't even know how to start this review... So let's start out with the ambiance... The ambiance is excellent... A perfect place for a date, a small and quiet place filled with pictures of the island where the restaurant gets all their food. Next let's do the food. The food here is some of the best that I have ever had... We ordered the tasting menu, the fish menu, and a steak and a lamb. The presentation on all of their food is excellent. I was consistently wowed with how each dish look, and they were all distinct! Anyways, everything gave me chills down my back, they were so good. Overall, I found the tasting menu to be tastier, but that's my personal opinion. But my favorite thing from here was the steak. The steak here was out of this world! It was cooked medium rare, with some sort of sauces... And you ate it with this potato fluff. I have no idea how they did potato fluff, but they did. Now for my favorite part of this restaurant... The service. We were given the honor to be served by Jacob Erickson. Remember that name. He was, hands down, the best waiter/waitress I have ever had. I absolutely adored him. He was very well trained, in that he had great manners and never made a mistake. He had a real passion for what he did, and I learned that just by talking to him. Maybe it was just dumb luck that the restaurant wasn't that busy, but it wasn't so he was able to cut some extra time for us, just to talk. It gave him so much more character and personality! I won't say anything so that when you go and have him as your waiter, you can go and get to know him. Bottom line: This is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. I loved the food here, definitely up there of all the foods I've tried. But the service here is just... I have no words that can possibly justify what I experienced here. When you come, ask for Jacob Erickson to be your server.

Yelp
On a spontaneous date night, Ulrik and I reserved at Koefoed's and went with high expectations to be blown away. To be honest, I can't remember much of what we had. I remember us going for the five course dish (I had the meat dish exchanged for more dish), with smoked mackerel (pre-starter), raw herring with cucumber cream, smoked lobster soup, steamed mullet with silky smooth mashed root vegetables, a sweet porridge with crisp chocolate and rye bread, and raspberry sorbet with homemade caramel and chocolate. I've posted all the pictures from our visit, but with the artistic skills going into each dish it's difficult to really make what it consists of. We also ordered the wine menu, however, we reduced it from five to a three menu glass, one crisp white, one round red, and one sweet dessert wine. What I do remember is the absolutely wonderful feeling eating the gorgeous food! The food was hands down amazing and presented in a creative way (my smoked mackerel was in a jar filled with smoke!) - I loved every single dish, and the wine was really good and went well with the different dishes. The staff was attentive and welcoming and the place - so lovely Scandinavian with pastel and blue colours, highlighting everything lovely about Bornholm. For the life of me, I have no idea why they haven't scored a Michelin Star. But until they do, you should really go!

Yelp
Great food, great service, cozy rooms, good location. Food: The open-face sandwich (smørrebrød - lunch menu - modernized with some welcome twists without overdoing it. Very well visually presented and very very tasty. And timely served with a short and precise introduction - instead of a long speech. Perfect! Service: Super professional and very attentive staff lead by Morten finding the relaxed mood of our large group from the first second. Beverages: super snaps! Beer quite good but a bit limited by being 'Svaneke' only Price level: Food is very reasonably priced. Beverages quite pricy (typically Danish) Overall: Bravo!

Yelp
Stop searching yelp and just go. This right here is why you came to Copenhagen. And you must try the homemade schnapps. Sit down and order some right off the bat. And end your Denmark On a Plate with another.

Yelp
This restaurant was a real find. The food was outstanding and the service great. Best meal we have had in Copenhagen. Order one of the complete dinner options. So different than anything I have had before.

Yelp
We were excited to eat here because my husband's aunt recommended it, and it was a good experience overall. The best part was definitely the small complimentary appetizers that started the whole meal. The mushroom chip was really amazing. I would have been able to eat about 100 of those chips. I also really enjoyed the dessert which had a combination of really interesting flavors and textures. My main course was fine but not overly spectacular. The service was good and attentive, except they forgot my hot tea at the very end. It was fine because they didn't charge me for it either, but it would have been nice to have while eating my dessert.

Yelp
I was so excited to eat here, and I am SO glad I did!! I brought my mom here and we had the whole menu, caviar, bubbles and all! So many yummy courses starting with fish and small snacks, then moving onto my favorite course with chicken and fresh peas, which had an INTENSE flavor, moving onto a delicious lamb dish, dessert, an awesome cheese plate, pared with a great dessert wine, and then onto fresh berries at the end. This place knows how to give good service, provide a cozy hyggelig atmosphere with great food presentation. If you want a good taste and selection of local cuisine, don't miss out on Koefoed! I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys quality expereinces!

Yelp
Amazing modern Danish cuisine. Their tagline - essentially "deliciously Danish, not decadent" is SO TRUE. We had an awesome meal on our anniversary in September 2016 at Koefoed. My husband and I shared one regular tasting menu and one fish tasting menu and we both got the wine pairings (one with the Bordeaux tasting, one without). The meal was spectacular and the service was relaxed and very friendly, but also impeccable. Wine was also delicious - we really wish we got the list of wines they used! The food was absolutely fabulous. So creative & interesting. Everything from plating the first course on the evergreen branches, to the onion & celery ashes frequently served on the fishes & meats. The meal was blissfully delicious and the portions were perfect. Also - do not miss the cheese course! It's definitely worth the add-on. The "best blue cheese in the world" from Bornholm (like many of the dishes at Koefoed) is not to be missed. It's AMAZING. My husband and I also found it fascinating to see where in French cuisine they may have used butter, the Danes seem to do thing totally differently - although equally delicious. Frankly the food is much lighter and probably healthier, too! (As healthy as you can get with this many courses! =D) As Americans traveling abroad we would highly recommend Koefoed. It was probably the most creative food we've had in Europe. We'd love to go back to try it again!

Yelp
Caught the tail end of lunch, which is smorrebrod only. The waiter was exceptionally pleasant, and even asked our permission before he and the rest of the crew took their own lunch next to us (by which time the restaurant was, technically, closed, and we were the ones imposing on them). Though smorrebrod are open-faced sandwiches, these don't come on bread, but rather served in pairs on a stone, while we each got a slice of delicious, thick brown bread wrapped in a kind of cloth sleeping bag. Each "sandwich" was a symphony of tastes. Our favorites were the smoked salmon (chives, truffle, scrambled egg) and roast beef (horseradish, onions, mayo, cauliflower, celery). Everything was artfully arranged. We ended with one portion of the cheese platter. Five choices, all relatively mild (even the blue) but tasty, accompanied by a cracker bread and spreads of gooseberry and rhubarb. Tip: If you're eating with a group, try to save one of your bread slices for the cheese course. All this on a delightful patio looking out on a quiet street away from the bustle and touristy trappings of Nyhavn. (The building next door was under some kind of construction, but we didn't hear anything from it.)

Yelp
This is a truly great place. Excellent food and service, good atmosphere. Went there for lunch and took the menu (295kr for 4 half-sized dishes). I could not down it all, the portions are still generous. The concept is "food from the island of Bornholm", so if you are looking for classic Danish food, this is a good start. Attentive and kind staff, they seem passionate about the job and they try to do small things to make you feel good. You'd easily pay this much in any other mid-range lunch place, why not go for something great then.

Yelp
One of the best, most inventive, most mosty meals I've had in years. The tasting menu was superb and worth every kroner. The service was attentive and well-tuned, the head server being especially receptive and competent. We came in a touch "hangry" but left feeling restored and deeply satisfied.

John W.

Yelp
Koefoed is small, lovely, and modestly expensive. Our meals included a mushroom chip (I've not seen one before), beautifully cooked cod, the best white asparagus ever, and delicious rhubarb sorbet. Service was attentive but not intrusive, and servers were helpful and forthcoming about how the food was prepared. We recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Yelp
This restaurant is fantastic and on par with any of the top restaurants in Copenhagen. Incredible food, atmosphere and service, you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Went here on 9/30/14 for our anniversary. Most pleasant staff in all of CPH! Excellent food and wonderful wine. Do the tasting menu - you won't regret it!

Yelp
Disappointed. We were looking foward to this meal. The dinner started off great with a warm greeting from the host. Cozy interior. We both ordrered the fish tasting and wine by the glass which was very reasonable. The 2 snacks and the first starter was very good but then we got to the smoked salmon course and everything became very salty. The dinner would have been fine but when we finally tried to pay, and there was a very long lag to get the bill, the credit card machine wasn't working. We sat there for 20 minutes with no complimentary wine, coffee, or even water. My partner and I had to go to the ATM separately to get enough cash and to add insult to injury, had to get our own coats! It's like they completely forgot about us. Our last night in Copenhagen and we feel so let down. Can't recommend this experience to anyone

Jeff K.

Yelp
If stars were awarded for being earnest the rating would be higher. The staff is welcoming and dedicated to their creed. The restaurant prides itself on ingredients sourced from a Danish island. That's fine as far as it goes, but not if the ingredients are second class. Case in point, a lamb dish. Bluntly the lamb was strong tasting.....not a virtue. So what is to be preferred local inferior lamb or first class lamb from France? I vote the latter. A scallop dish was ok. The small scallops, again no match for better scallops from France, were paired with green strawberries??? Sorry the combo did not work. One plus, a decent wine list at decent (for Copenhagen) prices. However the list was organized by vintage, not by region which makes no sense at all.

Yelp
This place was great! The food was delicious. The bread (rye bread and their white bread was so warm and slightly crispy on the outside). Then the things that went on it were nice blends of different tastes. It looks like a small portion, but it fills you without being overstuffed. The place has a very cozy atmosphere in which invites couples and close friends to feel like they are on their own. It is dimly lit with candlelight and the walls were a beautiful shade of a cool grey with calm music in the background. They even have curtains between the row of tables just to make it a more intimate experience. :) The service was great. They were very attentive. The people there were so kind and way too courteous. I took me aback. :) I cannot complain. Also, it does not get a michelin star but it is highly recommended by the michelin. We were also concerned it could be slightly on the pretentious side but it was far from it. It was everything I would expect in a great restaurant. The food for two was 400 kr which if you know danish restaurants and prices is reasonably priced. I would definitely highly recommend it especially to many of my foreign friends that want a taste of Danish rye bread. I would definitely return.
