I found this restaurant in Google Maps and chose it because the good reviews. We were not disappointed. The service is really good. Cary the manager, is friendly and she was attentive all the time in case we had questions, we did and she explained patiently. Troy the sushi chef gave us a fabulous Omakase experience. Each piece was delicious and he explained the ingredients for each one. We finished our lunch with excellent desserts. Overall a wonderful experience at an affordable price.

Wow, head chef Jason Lin has taken Omakase to the stratosphere. Gold leaf, Black Truffles, amazing I have done 5 Omakase dinning experiences, and this intimate setting and level of freshness and attention to detail puts Koete above and beyond. It might be that this is ALL they do, so the focus is passionate.

This new omakase place opened in April 2025 in the heart of the theatre district, servicing the after-work crowd and Broadway-goers. Diners are seated around a square counter, served on three sides by several sushi chefs who prepare a 90-minute dinner composed of one appetizer (raw oyster with ponzu and ikura), followed by 14 pieces and a handroll. The selection ranged from madai to three cuts of tuna (akami, chutoro, otoro), seared wagyu, uni handroll, and even offering some rarer fish from Japan like kinki and nodoguru (both rich and fatty), shimaaji, and kegani (hairy crab). While I found the uni portion in the handroll a bit skimpy, I was impressed that Jason, the sushi chef, brought out an entire hairy crab and expertly prepared a mini kegani don (hairy crab over rice) on the spot. The chefs and host were warm, personable, and generous -- offering complimentary pours of sake and engaging in friendly conversation. We will absolutely be returning and highly recommend the spot to anyone looking for a quality omakase experience on Broadway.

I had the pleasure of visiting this place with my friends, and it truly was an unforgettable experience. The freshness and flavors of each omakase course were simply delightful. I especially loved the Hotate scallop, Sake Salmon, and the O Toro fatty tuna—they were incredibly memorable. I can't wait to return for the dinner menu! The Yuzu Sake was a lovely touch as well. The staff made us feel so welcomed; they were not only friendly but also had a great sense of humor, which made the evening even more enjoyable. Don't miss out on their dessert menu; it’s worth it!

Koete Omakase is one of my favorite places during this trip to NYC. So happy to see NYC food culture, especially in Times Square, this tourist area finally has much variety in terms of cuisines, quality, and authenticity. After spending many days with local cuisine, we are craving Asian food to fill and find balance for our Asian gastronomic stomach. Found Koete Omakase on Google Maps and tried it with my son on Sunday afternoon during our short trip to NYC after Boston. The fish at Koete Omakase is as fresh as in Japan and the presentation of each is an art with a nice balance of taste, design, and color. I am impressed and decided to go back again tonight before flying back to HK. If you crave for authentic Omakase, great service, friendly atmosphere with reasonable price, this is the place one must try!

Google
Great new omakase that opened just a couple of weeks ago! I went with my mom, and it was phenomenal. Everything was so fresh. The service was amazing, and we loved our chef! The atmosphere was cozy and friendly. It was a great spot to grab dinner before our Broadway show.

Having gone to a lot of nyc omakases, this one def stood out for the price point. In addition to the usual fare there were interesting fish like threeline grunt, which I really enjoyed. There were also included luxuries that usually cost extra, like caviar/gold/uni on the toro/wagyu. Maybe the best part was the staff, who were attentive, friendly, and generous in a way you often only see at higher price points. Shout out to Cassie, ”Jason Lee“, and our chef for the fun night, and the free sake and ice cream. Wish it wasn’t by Times Square, but worth checking out in a city with way too many omakases

I frequently visit omakase restaurants, often several times a week, and I have developed a clear understanding of the standards expected at this level of dining. During our recent visit to Koete NYC, my boyfriend and I noticed a few details that could be improved to elevate the overall experience. My boyfriend doesn’t eat wagyu beef, and we politely asked if it could be substituted with another fish. Unfortunately, this request was overlooked — I was served two pieces of wagyu without being asked, while my boyfriend was left without a replacement piece. Although a small detail, attention to guests’ preferences is an important part of the omakase experience and can leave a lasting impression. Additionally, unlike many other omakase restaurants, dessert was not included here, which felt a little underwhelming given the expectations for this type of dining. I would also gently note that the chef’s knife skills seemed a bit unrefined, suggesting that he may still be developing his technique. I rarely leave feedback like this, but I truly hope the management will view it as constructive. With a few improvements, Koete NYC has the potential to become a much stronger competitor among New York’s vibrant omakase scene.

Yelp
We got a pulsd voucher for Koete. Didn't know what to expect. We came on a Friday at 5 pm. It was 4 of us. We noticed that the restaurant was easy to spot, not hidden like a lot of these omakase places. When we got in, there was one u shaped bar seating and we were seated right away with our reservation. That's when we were surprised by a familiar face. We recognized Jason who we had the pleasure of meeting at another omakase spot Tsumo who is now the co partner at Koete. He was very happy to see us and treated us like friends and royalty. We felt very welcome. We also met Tony who was our sushi chef and super friendly as well. Our pulsd voucher came with the standard omakase which had 15 course plus an appetizer, it also let us choose a special course at the end and also came with sake. Every piece was delicious and thoughtfully crafted with attention to detail. There was an emphasis on the toppings and each bite had great flavors that work well together. My favorite was the special at the end. I chose the Wagyu scallop truffle which was amazing. The uni, toro and Wagyu pieces also stood out. We also tried their yuzu cheesecake, matcha cheesecake and black sesame ice cream which were not included with our voucher. My favorite was the matcha cheesecake which had a strong matcha flavor and not too sweet but everything was very good. We left at around 6:30 and the place filled up. Overall, it was a great experience with a lively ambiance, welcoming staff and amazing food. I hope it does well and can't wait to see Jason and Tony again!

Yelp
Koete Omakase is a hidden gem that delivers big on flavor and intimacy. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance feels personal and refined, perfect for a special night out or a treat-yourself moment. Chef Jason is not only incredibly talented but also Wagyu-certified, and it shows. Every course was thoughtfully prepared, and not a single bite tasted "fishy" (a huge win for anyone hesitant about raw fish). The sea urchin was a major standout, creamy, fresh, and easily one of the best I've had in NYC. You can tell Koete takes pride in the quality of their ingredients and presentation. I walked out of dinner feeling full, happy, and already planning my next visit. Pro tip: book on Resy and get excited for the Wagyu!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had the lunch omakase, and it was so tasty and a great experience! It is also a plus that it is one of omakase places with normal lunch reservation times that are before 2pm. Chef Tony took incredible care into each piece, making sure each one was beautifully crafted. The omakase tasted well balanced in flavors, smokiness, and freshness. The quality and quantity of fish was top notch! The toppings paired well to each fish and some toppings were unique that I have not tried before. We also added on al a carte uni and chef Tony was very generous. Elvis was our server. He was excellent and so attentive. My mug never ran out of tea. It was a wonderful experience, and I would recommend and go again!

Yelp
Affordable Omakase with lots of good qualities more suited for tourists or first timers than sushi snobs. I came for the lunch seating for which $60 buys you 9 nigiri and one handroll. The interior is pretty nice for a "chalkboard" Omakase. The staff is friendly but a bit stiff/nervous seeming. This spot definitely feels geared towards tourists. Most of the pieces were quality. The fish selection and garnishes are fairly standard with a few twists here and there. The fish to rice ratio actually leans much more toward fish than any Omakase I have been too - seriously there is a tiny amount of rice for fairly thick cuts of fish. This is mostly a positive but it does make the meal a bit less filling. I ordered one piece a la carte - the Isaki (or Threeline Grunt) since I have never had it before. The a la carte menu actually has a decent variety of fish well worth trying (Akamatsu, Kinki, Kinmedai). Overall great spot for a quick and light value Omakase.

Yelp
Delicious omakase for a reasonable price in midtown! This place is new and they are doing everything right. The chef was friendly and knowledgeable about the fish and allergies (he made separate gluten free pieces for me when necessary). We did the pre fixe lunch menu and sat at the counter and it was delicious. We were in and out in under an hour so great option for corporate lunches.

Yelp
This is one of the best meals I've ever had! The food is delicious and the service is top-notch. Every piece of fish was fresh, well-seasoned and thoughtful. Samuel and his team are experts about curating an incredible dining experience. If they have the three line, you MUST order it.

Yelp
Great omakase for price - service was excellent and restaurant had good ambiance. Every bite was delicious. We got the extra uni ikura don add on at the end and that was great too except the ikura was a little too salty for me personally. Chefs were super friendly - we had a great time there. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for good-value omakase

Yelp
If you're searching for an amazing omakase in Midtown that won't break the bank, this place is it. They offer a $60 lunch course and a $100 dinner course with 16 pieces total -- including 1 appetizer, 13 pieces of nigiri, and 2 hand rolls. Everything was incredibly fresh, the fish practically melted in each bite. The chef is incredible and ambiance is amazing. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Amazing Omakase experience! Price was reasonable for the incredible presentation, variety, and fresh fish. Everything was prepared beautifully in an intimate setting. It was comparable to what we had in Tokyo. We loved it and will come back next trip!

Yelp
They are professional and fast. Straight to the point omakase. We did a walk in during lunch and I like how they welcome seating at anytime. Lunch was under an hour but we ordered extras and it was such a nice time. I enjoy how they score each piece of fish, it allows for the fish to melt in your mouth. $60 pp for lunch 10 pc omakase, can't beat it!!! We ended up ordering a bunch of wagyu, salmon, otoro, and scallop. They give the perfect rice ratio. Highly recommend over other nyc omakases!

Yelp
Food was good and reasonable for the lunch price. Very very odd that we went there for lunch and there were 10 open seats and yet the manager would not let us scoot just one seat down. Talk about a very unwelcome start to omakase! Is this supposed to be welcome lunch for the guest or the owner? Literally one seat down when there are a gazillion open seats !?!? No wonder it was empty for lunch!

Jessica S.

Yelp
Great addition to the Theatre District/Times Square! Every bite was delicious and you can truly taste the high quality fish. The fish is flown in from Japan multiple times a week. Highly recommend checking out Koete Omakase!!

Yelp
The food was excellent, the chef skilled. It was a small group, which made for an intimate lunch. Very cool experience for my birthday!

Yelp
We had an amazing set of courses that changed my opinions on ingredients used in sushi, which might be the highest honor I can give any establishment. Cozy room with prompt service, if you can get seated.

Yelp
5 stars all around. This small restaurant opened 8 weeks ago. It is located by the Colbert studio on Broadway. We were a bit nervous about landing in a tourist trap, but those concerns dissipated when we walked in. The space seats only 14 or so around the bar so customers receive a lot of attention from the chefs. This alone made the experience memorable as each dish was explained in detail to us. We tried the 16 course tasting menu. The order in which the dishes were presented was very thoughtful so one led beautifully to the next. The sushi is incredibly high grade as is the heavily marbled Wagyu beef. Fresh black truffles and caviar complimented some of the presentations and took them to the next level. We are from the PNW so we have eaten a lot of sushi. This was by far the best we have had. What a lucky find!

Yelp
phenomenal and omg get the black sesame ice cream also it's the best flavor ice cream ever!
