One of my favorite places for coffee in the entire world is Koffee Mameya, tucked away on a quiet, charming street in Omotesando. If you’re not paying close attention, you might just walk past it—the exterior is minimalist and unassuming. But like many great things in Japan, what’s inside is where the magic happens. As is customary with many Japanese specialty coffee shops, there’s a line—and yes, it’s worth the wait. Expect to spend about 45 minutes waiting, but once you step inside, you’re welcomed into a serene, dimly lit Japandi-style tasting room that feels more like a tea ceremony than a coffee shop. The attention to detail and atmosphere make the experience truly special. The staff are true professionals—knowledgeable, welcoming, and thoughtful. They take time to understand your flavor preferences and recommend beans based on your ideal beverage style. I chose a Melbourne-roasted bean from Code Black, and to this day, I still vividly remember the flavor: a rich, deep chocolate body with delicate notes of plum dancing through. It was unforgettable. The beans were so good I actually took a bag home! Koffee Mameya doesn’t just serve coffee—it redefines what the experience of coffee should be. It’s a place where craftsmanship, design, and taste meet in harmony. 本当に素晴らしい経験でした。心からありがとうございました。 ☕️

For the pure coffee lover. I really enjoyed my entire experience, but be warned, there is no seating at all. You’ll wait in line and then stand at the bar. Thankfully the wait wasn’t that long when I went. Their English is quite good, so you won’t have a problem ordering though capturing some of the nuances might be difficult. My barista recommended a couple of great beans to try. Though when I asked for something else, he did reply a bit mockingly that made me feel a bit embarrassed, but I think it was more the language barrier and not his intention as he followed up a bit later regarding my question. Another barista served me my last cup and he was very friendly. This shop is meant to be fast, so unfortunately that means you won’t get the intimate service you might desire from a small coffee bar or like their other location which is reservation only. They had me switch spots quite often, a total of four times. I did not mind, but wanted people to be aware that it could happen. They explain their whole process quite well, though I felt it was a bit too structured. The coffee itself was excellent. I had the Jansen which was about $20 a cup and it was exceptional. One thing I learned though is that they source their beans from various roasters. Some of the roasters have provide exclusive roasts to Mameya, but it’s a great way to find some amazing roasters. The beans were reasonably priced and the one I bought to take home was better than what I remembered having at the shop. This may be due to their extraction method. They do a surprisingly small dosage (10g) which is extremely hard for a pour. I’m not saying their pour is bad, it’s really quite excellent. But you really should take some beans home to try!

Google
Eclectic place to try and taste coffee. They elevate buying coffee beans to the next level. Personalized experience with baristas who are knowledgeable and explained how each grain should be used. The line formed even before the store opened.

Google
A must-visit for serious coffee lovers! KOFFEE MAMEYA is not just a coffee shop — it’s a curated experience. The baristas are incredibly knowledgeable and guide you through an impressive menu of beans from around the world. I tried the [insert name you tried – e.g., “La Papaya Geisha”], and it was perfectly brewed, rich, and nuanced. The minimalist space makes the coffee the star, and the quality speaks for itself. Whether you're into rare single-origin beans or just want a great pour-over, this place delivers. Highly recommended if you're in Tokyo and want a premium coffee experience.

There are variety of beans here, and the two that I tasted are good. The geisha from Panama has florally complex taste with unique aftertaste and faint lingering aroma. Therefore, despite not my style, I do commend that the beans have been curated carefully. Another bean which is Colombia Jairo Arcila Papayo is more of my style. Bold complicated flavor of fermented fruit hits me immediately after sipping. One downside is that this place is more of an experimental spot where you try different types of coffee but not the place that you will buy the beans you like as they only sell it in small package of 150g making the price is on the high side.

Google
Nestled among omotesando neighbourhood, their coffee doesn't disappoints. The staff there have good knowledge of coffee and are very patient with their customers. They take their time to explain the brand, coffee brands they bring in and will ask for your coffee preference, from acidity, flavour and depth, they will try to pair accordingly. Be mindful the cafe is small and they only serve 3 to 4 customers a time. So you might need to queue for a while.

One of the most popular cafes in the city so I decided to check it out. I waited 15 minutes which wasn’t too bad but then when I left the line was getting longer. I wouldn’t wait more than 20 minutes, especially in the heat, for a takeaway coffee tbh regardless of how tasty it might be. The reason for the wait is that some customers take forever to decide what beans they’d like to purchase. The baristas then spend time explaining upon explaining to them. I don’t know the exact information but that felt a bit excessive given that there were a line of people waiting outside. Some call this service but I think think there needs to be a line drawn somewhere. Each customer should be allocated a maximum time slot. No need for all the chit chat. Learn your coffee at home, online or from books. Having said that, the baristas all seemed eager to help and share their knowledge. I’d like to thank Kazu-san(I hope I got it right) for making a very decent cup of coffee for me. 10 g vs 160ml (1:16) Will I return? Yes but not in the summer when people have to wait in the heat.

Google
Best coffee I’ve had in Tokyo! Definitely worth a stop over. The staff are very nice and they take the time to explain the process and the type of beans being used. They even make suggestions based on the flavor and the strength of coffee you are looking for!

Yelp
Had a fantastic experience here!! My boyfriend and I got in line at 9:40 AM on a Monday (it was a holiday) before they opened at 10. There were 7 people in front of us, and we began our coffee experience at 10:15. Definitely recommend getting there before they open to avoid a super long wait. The day we visited, they happened to have a special takeover from Common Grounds in Indonesia. It was awesome to meet Ryan Wibawa and chat about all things coffee! We tried the Tokado coffee - libertad cuevitas (hot) and Common Grounds - iris estate gesha (iced). The CG coffee was $20 and I appreciated every drop lmao. You are paying for an intimate and wonderfully lengthy experience here - so it is really worth it!

Yelp
My husband loves coffee so this was on our list to try during our recent trip to Tokyo. Our flight landed at 5am so we were up and about before most things opened. This place has no big outside signage so definitely use google maps to navigate your way. We got there about 30 minutes before they opened and there was no line yet. We walked up and down the street for a bit before deciding to just hang out in front of the entrance. As soon as we lined up about 5 other people joined in behind us. The interior is quite small. There's a standing bar area that fits about 5-6 people across. They show you a menu of all the beans they have and the barista asks about your preference etc. I let my husband choose 2 (really I'm just tagging along...my coffee palate is not as refined haha). Both of the coffee were excellent. Overall, this is a great place for those who truly enjoy and appreciate coffee. This is not the place to get a sugary milk loaded coffee drink. Prices are high--about $7-9 USD for a very small cup. But I think it's worth the experience if you love coffee.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my experience here! We've seen this place all over social media and influencers blogs. It was worth the stop. Firstly, Ishimura san was super helpful and really sweet! I would highly recommend asking for him if you can. He's very knowledgable and great at recommending things based on your flavor profile. ***What we ordered ~ **SKY Project Alo Yabi by Philocoffea (10/10) ~ If you like different and weirdly fermented this is for you! We tried this both hot and iced. Personally, I'm more of a cold coffee person but if you order it hot, it has an interesting aroma to it! Now, as for taste it has a nice bitterness with a hint of like an alcohol taste. It's very hard to describe, but I highly recommend you get it. Overall, Lines are pretty long and the inside is small so be prepared to wait, go early, or go more towards closing. I would love to come back again! As for coffee lovers I would say it's definitely a must try!

Yelp
I had such a great time at Mameya coffee! As they describe, this is a coffee bean shop as opposed to a roastery and they collect beans to highlight. I had walked by before and the line was out the door, but was lucky to come back on a rainy day and only have a short wait. When you enter the shop, you are greeted with an overview of the coffees. You can pick if you want a coffee hot or cold but they do not offer cappuccino or lattes. I did see one person get an espresso made but otherwise it was mainly Pour over. It is also standing room only so if you are looking for a spot to sit and linger, this is probably not the place (there was another coffee shop down the block that had seats and donuts). I tried one of their cold brews and then heard a barista mention milk brew, when the coffee is brewed in milk for 9 hours. I had never had it so I had to try it. It wasn't really for me but I'm glad I gave it a shot. Everyone that works here is super knowledgeable and helpful. When you buy beans, they talk you through the grind size and even give you a sample of how it should look. Plus they talk you through the preferred brew method. If you are a coffee nerd, this is your spot!

Yelp
Koffee Mameya is one of the best places for coffee nerds. First off, I want to explain what it is and what it is isn't. It's a very small building with a counter (no inside/outside seating) where staff (in Japanese or English) will help you on a one-on-one basis to help you find beans to your liking (they'll brew the coffee for you/you can also buy beans). It's not a place to grab a quick cup of coffee and do work/lounge around with friends. The first thing you'll notice upon your arrival is that there is a line. There will always be a line since it's popular (with tourists) and it's such a small place that not many can actually be inside at the same time. I went during the weekday in the afternoon (around 2:00 p.m.) and still had to wait about 25 minutes. Overall, for the experience and my interest in coffee, I thought the wait was worth it. Also, I may have had one of the best cups of coffee here. 私のおすすめのコーヒー屋さんはこのショップです。スタッフが好みの合った豆を見つけて手伝いします。このショップで飲めなくて、持ち帰れだけでできます。それに、観光客さんが多いから、いつも混みます。

Yelp
Tl;dr exceptional curated coffee menu made for purists I'm a casual coffee drinker, but have a lot of passionate coffee enthusiasts friends. They recommended I come here to try a drip coffee. The first sign this place is for purists is that there are only a couple drinks that come with milk. The rest of the drinks are made either drip coffee or espresso. The baristas here are exceptionally knowledgeable and curated drinks based off our preferences. Definitely would come back with some friends who are very into coffee!

Yelp
I visited this place on my recent trip to Japan. I was so impressed with it! We made an appointment for 1pm and came in at that time. Because it was early afternoon, I didn't want to overload myself on caffeine or alcohol, so I just tried one of each kind of drink. I would have loved to try more or come back. I wish there was a place like this in the US! You can select the type of coffee with different roast levels and they have a lot of really unique drinks. One of the drinks I tried was a milk brew, which is basically a cold brew but brewed directly in cold milk rather than water. It was good and it was a very interesting idea to try!

Yelp
Incredible coffee spot in Tokyo. It's not just a coffee shop where you buy cups of coffee or beans - it's a coffee shop where you also learn about (1) the temperature of the water that you should use with your specific beans, (2) the ratio of beans to water, (3) the amount of time in between each pour, (4) the different spectrums of acidity to bitterness based on the coffee roasters you've purchased from. It's all explained by one of the baristas who are capable of explaining all of this in the most popular languages spoken (Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean) by visitors. We got inspired by the craft and diligence here, so much so that we have now been brewing our coffee at home from beans we purchased at コーヒー豆屋 with the bean-to-water ratio that was written down by our barista in a helpful sheet of paper along with other aforementioned information. Expect to be waiting a while if there's already a queue, as the baristas take careful time to make sure each customer is receiving as much information as possible for the best purchase.

Yelp
This was a coffee experience - not just a coffee shop. We waited in line for probably 40 minutes and we started really questioning if it was worth it. But when we got in and started talking to the staff it was clear it was worth it. We got to learn about the coffee and the techniques they use to make the coffee. After we selected our roast he ground the beans and made the coffee in front of us - talking us through it the whole time. It wasn't just a grab and go, we got to talk and learn. I usually take coffee with cream and sugar and it absolutely wasn't necessary here. I had my coffee black and loved it. I bought some beans to take home to my husband and wished I could come back during my trip!

Yelp
Pretentious and douchey. I traveled a long way with my cousin's (who's birthday it was) to the Kakeru location in Koto City only to be told that they only accept reservations. Like what? for a coffee shop? I also did not like the energy of the woman who greeted me. and by greet, I mean someone asking me off the bat "DO YOU HAVE A RESERVATION!?". No "hello, how are you?", no "hi, thanks for coming in". she tells me a lot of people come in not knowing you need one, yea no kidding. and you just turn them all away instead of accommodating them? by the way, I saw plenty of empty seats. I was offered the option of buying beans and taking them home, I asked instead if they could make me a drink for takeaway and they refused that as well. I probably bit a bullet, why would I want to pay 900 yen for some stupid little show by some pompous baristas, I just wanted to drink some specialty coffee. on my way out I accidently knock over umbrellas and I squat down to pick them up but stopped once I saw the lady just standing there and not helping. I stare at her until she came over to help. screw this place, I'm glad I made her work in that way haha. we ended up at The Roastery by NozyCoffee in Shibuya and the coffee, vibes, and service was phenomenal.

Yelp
Awesome coffee experience at KOFFEE MAMEYA. The name comes from KOFFEE = coffee and mameya = bean store. The name is literally COFFEE BEAN STORE! You don't go in and choose a drink right away, they have a menu gradient from lightest roast to darkest roast. You tell them what kind of coffee and notes you enjoy and they will help you choose a coffee bean that matches what you like. Very personalized to your taste! Of course the drip coffee is the star at mameya, so try a few different ones and taste the different flavors and roast! Highly recommend finishing with the latte which is a blend of beans cold brewed in milk for 8 hours! There is no way you WON'T enjoy KOFFEE MAMEYA if you love coffee, a cool experience. The only cons are the very small tasting room, large enough for 4~5 people side-by-side. Also, they don't write down your orders and make it from memory, that was a problem because we had 5 people in our group and we ordered like 8~10 different drinks and they forgot one of our drinks. Understandable for 1 guy trying to make a bunch of drinks, probably should write it down next time lol

Yelp
My friend said to give it a second chance and boy was he a bro to do that. My wife and I came here because she absolutely loves coffee and they are consistently touted as the best experience. With the new baristas and staff, it certainly shows. We got the El Diamanté (medium roast and very unique flavor. Almost like barrel-aged coffee with a great blend of slight bitterness and sweetness of apples with a hint of cinnamon) and the Santa Rosa Honey (low acidity, very light sweetness like honeydew. Exceptionally pleasant to sip on). They make a clear distinction that they are not a roastery, but they are baristas. I'll add that they are master class baristas. They are attentive and tailor the experience to your taste. Knowing if you like medium, light, and dark roasts is a plus, but if not they will also ask what flavors you like in coffee. IE fruity (citrus or berries), low acidity, slight bitterness, floral, etc. They also tell you which roasters were world champs if you want to know and are the most knowledgeable in their craft. Highly recommended if you love coffee. They use a V60 filter from what I saw. But if you do buy beans, they are so knowledgeable that they will hand write instructions on how to brew it and at what peak temperature and time!
google avatar

Kelvin L.

Yelp
Expect line ups, but for a reason. These guys know their beans, the way they prep, ensure it's the right method, and at the end of that, ensure that the taste is exactly what they want it to be. My concern was how to replicate this at home, but thankfully the barista was able to take the time to explain how he would recommend to brew (dependent on the differing methods of brew too!).
google avatar

Yelp
More style over substance. I wouldn't recommend this place based on the value, and I certainly wouldn't recommend standing in a line of more than a couple people unless you have lots of time to kill...lots. The one exception might be if you are looking for an introduction to new coffees, like the newer processing methods, like anaerobic fermentation. But if you know your way around coffee, I would t spend the money or time here. Yeah, they have a lot of beans, but there is no shortage of good coffee in Tokyo I don't think, and I had better a better pour over for less than half the price at Little Nap. Specifics: My wife has a light roast, washed Kenyan coffee from la Cabra, a danish roaster. It was one of the cheapest on the menu and it was excellent, even if not superlative. I had a light roast lactic fermentation coffee from Colombia I think. That was 1100 yen and just wasn't anything special. (Coffees went way up in price from there)

Yelp
Come here for a phenomenal coffee experience. Come here for an educational journey on coffee with talented coffee artists. Come here for the GEISHA (literally my favorite coffee).

Yelp
If you truly love coffee, then this is undoubtedly the coffee experience you want on a visit to Tokyo. First off, you're going to need your GPS to find it. It's a small, unmarked building in the heart of Omotesanto and it feels like you're walking into someone's house. Once inside it's all business. In this minimalist space there is simply just a bar (standing room only) and the intoxicating aroma of freshly ground premium coffee. The guys behind the bar aren't baristas - they're more like coffee sommeliers. They'll ask you questions to narrow down your palette and tailor your tasting. It's pour over or cold brew only, so don't come here if you can't handle the purity of premium coffee as a stand alone. Beans are sourced worldwide and roasted regionally between a handful of roasters. Samples are under a glass display case for your viewing pleasure and the coffee concierges here will patiently describe the flavor profiles of every roast if you want them to. I tried several and each tasting was unbelievable in quality. I highly recommend you check this place out on a trip to Tokyo!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing coffee experience!! This place literally has no letter sign so I accidentally walked right past. Look for a black box looking building! He asked me if I knew what mameya meant which I didn't. He explained mame is bean and ya is shop. Koffee bean shop! The two workers (one was the owner) spoke English and were so friendly & helpful! He asked what my favorite coffee shop was back in US and he knew them( st frank)! He deducted that I like light roast beans and recommended a delicious Colombian pour over. My drink was 500 yen for a cup. I did see that the geisha was around 1200 yen. They keep one serving of beans in a vial and then roast each vial of beans to order. I want to come back!!

Yelp
From Eiichi Kunitomo, known for his famous OMOTESANDO KOFFEE (which closed down in 2015, due to building being demolished), has two popular coffee shops in Tokyo. KOFFEE MAMEYA is considered the reincarnation of OMOTESANDO KOFFEE, while TORANOMON KOFFEE (which opened back in 2014) located in the luxurious Toranomon Hills Mori Tower in the busy Toranomon business district is the other. And because Eiichi Kunitomo is well-revered as a barista (watching him make drip coffee is like an art form), he has goals of wanting to bring his brand of coffee overseas. And he opened an OMOTESANDO KOFFEE in Hong Kong and he would also like to expand overseas to the United States as well. And as OMOTESANDO KOFFEE was considered by many as the #1 coffee in Tokyo prior to 2015, KOFFEE MAMEYA is considered the #1 place to get coffee in Tokyo. Sure, the distinction of being the best is subjective to coffee drinker. But just a visit to the location and you can understand why coffee aficionados love this place! KOFFEE MAMEYA caters to hardcore coffee lovers who drink coffee straight up with nothing added and is primarily a coffee stand which you choose the best type of varieties of coffee offered. TORANOMON KOFFEE is for those who desire a latte or cappuccino and prefers their coffee with the sugar or syrup and want to eat something along with it (the location offers breakfast and lunch menus). In fact, it was created with the local business people in mind. Before becoming the renown "Godfather of Japanese Coffee", Eichii Kunitomo was living in Osaka and interested in Espresso. Served by a German barista, he loved the coffee so much that he began working for that shop. Kunitomo trained in the Naples region of Italy. And he started his career with coffee back in Osaka in 2001 and by 2003, he opened an Italian bar. And when overseas barista began asking Kunitomo "What is Japanese style of coffee making?", he went on to create his own style which was showcased in the popular OMOTESANDO KOFFEE. To showcase coffee without the necessity of sugar, utilizing beans to reach the flavor that best suits the drinker. He sports a white coat when he is working and he wants customers to see his approach to making coffee and approaching it in a way as people view tea ceremonies in Japan, and offering this style of making of coffee which I felt was artistic and impressive. How it works with KOFFEE MAMEYA is you choose the from the menu and look for the coffee bean which you prefer. Want something with not so much caffeine and lighter, stick to the top. Want something black and more caffeine, look towards the bottom. For me, this was a fascinating experience because I'm so spoiled with putting creamer or a little sugar in my coffee to sweeten it up. I like to taste the coffee bean but I also prefer my coffee slightly sweet, not acidic or bitter. Also, depending on the hour of the day, I need to keep things light, so I stayed with the Daniel Miju from Ethiopia and the Geisha Village Lot 51. But looking at the menu, you can see why coffee aficionados love KOFFEE MAMEYA, the choices are many and for Kunitomo-san, he's very selective and very focused. You can go to many coffee shops around Japan, and I don't think I've seen anyone who takes his craft so seriously. Focusing on the drip and it's like an artform and I was impressed. Kunitomo and staff are also very good in helping customers and are able to communicate in English about what kind of flavor they want and their preference. While I missed my opportunity to try OMOTESANDO KOFFEE years ago, it's been wonderful to try KOFFEE MAMEYA and OMOTESANDO KOFFEE. And having been to the location numerous times now and it literally is my favorite coffee shop in Tokyo, and you will understand why many people consider KOFFEE MAMEYA, the best coffee shop in Tokyo!

Yelp
Cool little store in omotesanto. They will explain the diffferent kinds of college to you and recommend a type based upon what you like. No fancy espresso drinks here - just great coffee. Can also buy the beans. Expensive but a great experience
google avatar

Scott S.

Yelp
Before my first visit to OMOTESANDO KOFFEE in 2015, I had absolutely no interest in espresso or its many popular visually-pleasing variants as most examples I'd tried were either too one dimensional or bitter/acidic for me to enjoy. It wasn't until OMOTESANDO KOFFEE closed their pop-up store that I decided I should visit the world-famous BEAR POND in Shimokitazawa; whereas the Angel Stain is a once in a lifetime beverage that I will not likely forget anytime soon, my desire to go back to Shimokitazawa is usually hampered by the fact that it's really hard to just relax and enjoy a cup of coffee at BP's retail space. Fortunately for me and many other fans of OMOTESANDO KOFFEE, Eiichi Kunitomo is back in the same retail space under a slightly adjusted name and concept; whereas OMOTESANDO aimed to be your friendly neighborhood espresso stand, KOFFEE MAMEYA is now your personal coffee concierge, giving you recommendations and blending beans to your liking from a selection backed by five or six contracted roasters around Japan and Asia.

Masayuki T.

Yelp
They are finally back at the same location, but in a different concept from Omotesando Koffee's. Hand-dripped coffee and espresso are served here, but no latte, cappuccino, macchiato, nor cakes. "Koffee Mameya" means "coffee bean store". They focus more on serving good coffee beans (16 different coffee beans from 5 roasters), and advising the customers how to drip good/better coffee at home. Consultation to each customer is their first priority, and you need to be patient until your turn. Also, they plan to have a coffee seminar every night (6:00pm-7:00pm) after their store hour. Absolutely, I will return here.
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
No milk, no sugar, no seating - just a perfect, hand-crafted cup of coffee. The door is unmarked and almost feels like you're walking into someone's home. Look for the black frame with the short stone path. Once inside, they will guide you through the 16 different bean options, or can make a recommendation for you. As someone who loves lattes, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the resulting cup. The entire experience is a pleasure - from the welcoming staff to the passionately created coffee. It is definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
By far the most interesting, and expensive, espresso I have ever tasted was enjoyed at this hidden gem. I typically drink Blue Bottle, and found this place to be absolutely delightful and unpretentious. Tucked away in Harajuku, this is a must visit if you enjoy espresso, drip, or cold brew. There are myriad beans to choose from, including 3 different cold brews. Roasters from all over the world, including Hong Kong and Australia, are represented.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow. Amazing. There were a few people in front of me but the line moved pretty fast. The man who helped me at the counter was insanely friendly, conversational (his English was impressive) and and really took the time to explain everything to me and make sure I found the right roast for myself, and the right beans to take home to my mom. He thoroughly listened to what kinds of flavors I like, and had me try a few different beans before I made my final decision. I felt bad because we were probably holding up everyone behind us, but he was a fantastic conversationalist. The coffee did not disappoint, highly educated employees and high quality beans make this a must for any coffee lover. To be honest, I usually order mochas so was a bit thrown off when I realized that they don't do espresso drinks (just cold brew/drip/whatever you want to call it).

Yelp
What a unique experience! KOFFEE MAMEYA offers beans from well known roasters all over the world. A member of their team helps you find the roast that's just right for you and then makes your personal cup right in front of you. These guys that helped us were very knowledgeable and spoke great English. The coffee was amazing!

Yelp
My husband and I visited this place recently on a Saturday and arrived around 11am. We received assistance right away as there were three baristas there and only one group already inside the shop. This is a little coffee shop that takes their coffee seriously! Our barista was super helpful and knowledgeable and never rushed us. We both ordered the cold brew and our barista took the time to figure out what type of coffee we would like, explaining regions and roast. The ambiance is really refreshing compared to the busy atmosphere of Harajuku. We left with two bags of coffee which they grounded for us as well as provided a breakdown of how to brew each one. Thank you for the amazing service!

Yelp
Koffee Mameya is a coffee lover's dream. A few years ago when this place was known as Omoteasando Koffee, it used to be quite the spot for specialty coffee. People definitely are happy to see that the place has been reincarnated as a specialty coffee and bean shop that gives recommendations and in-depth flavor profiles of beans of various origins backed by a small number of roasters around Japan and/or Asia. This place is hard to spot! It's nestled in with some residential streets off the beaten path in Omotesando, inside an unmarked building. The space is small and thoughtfully lit, with only a counter/bar and space to stand. Inside, you can also see through the glass to Koffee Mameya's equipment. When we came, we were greeted by two people behind the bar. They presented us a chart of their available beans to describe their roasts and flavors, taking the time to make sure they understood our wants and our preferred flavors of coffee. They were also super friendly and chatted with us about our travels in Japan while we sipped on our drinks! I got an cold brew Kiunyu roast. This dark roast has a fruity profile with notable peach flavors. I love fruity things and appreciate a good dark roast so this was a great choice. My friends got two of the lighter roasts, one of which had a chocolatey note. Overall, we were quite happy with the shopkeepers' recommendations. Next time I end up back in Tokyo, I definitely want to pay Koffee Mameya a visit again.

Yelp
Delightful coffee experience for sure! We told the barista our coffee preferences and he gave us some sample coffee before allowing us to commit to a choice. My bf prefers dark roast and we got the guatamalan, which was extremely toasty! We got a bag of medium roast to go, which tastes a little like the beautiful third wave coffee (especially intelligentsia). The barista even gave us brewing instructions and recipe for the perfect brew (curated depending on French press or camex or pour over)

Yelp
This spot was cool and super unique. The staff was friendly, very knowledgeable and didn't rush you at all into making a decision. It's standing room only and can only serve about 4-5 people at a time. Staying and enjoying your coffee is totally fine, but I took a few sips and took mine to go since a huge queue had started behind me. In a nice neighborhood in the upscale part of Shibuya.

Yelp
Cool place. You won't be able to find it without the help of google maps and pictures. Outside is a simple black tiny building, no signs at all. I walk in and behind the counter were stacks of coffee. I got a cup of Cold brew and coffee beans roasted in Japan. They have different beans from light to dark from different areas. Their name literally means coffee beans (mameya=beans). Clever.

Yelp
One of the best coffees in Tokyo. Shozo is the other...Being a couple blocks away I am always troubled by the choice.

Yelp
For coffee enthusiasts, this is the place to come. The absolute best cup of coffee ever!! They explain the process and the selections very well. It's a cute little place tucked away. It was an awesome experience. They craft the coffee and take true care.

Yelp
With its unassuming exterior you'd never know such a great coffee shop existed inside this store in the streets of Shibuya, Tokyo. Inside you'll find two baristas ready to walk you through one of the cleanest cups of drip coffee you've ever tasted free from sugar, milk, syrups, and foam. Go ahead, aerate that palate, and sip to your hearts content. #koffeemameya #ometesandokoffee

Yelp
This was an amazing coffee experience. I wanted to get a special present for my friend who loves coffee while I was in Japan. The staff were incredibly wonderful (since I can speak Japanese, but not fluently) The gentleman helping me was so nice and could speak English to help me pick out the exact coffee I wanted to purchase. The location was a little hard to find, so if you are looking for it, keep looking, it is worth it.

Yelp
The most most polite and dedicated master of coffee brewing you can find. The real experience here is to take in appreciation of their commitment to quality and providing the customer the right coffee. It's like going to a wine tasting counter, but for coffee. It's a very unique experience for an American.

Yelp
one of the best coffee/bean shops in Tokyo. Whenever I am in Shibuya and/or Omotesando, I go there to grab a cup of coffee. There's always a queue, especially during the weekend - so go there only if u can wait for 15-20mins. The wait is definitely worth; employees are super nice and they pick the bean based on your preference.

Yelp
I spent 4 weeks in Tokyo this past summer and can absolutely say that Koffee Mameya was the best coffee spot that I found in the city. They only serve cold brew and pour over but the gentlemen behind the counter are true artisans. Highly recommend.
