"There’s a chic, retro quality to this lively brasserie in Krakow’s Old Town, which sports several dining rooms – including one with a vaulted brick ceiling – plus an enclosed garden terrace. It's a smart place, with the menu bringing modern updates to classic Krakovian dishes, as well as those from wider Poland. This is simple, satisfying cooking with a generous touch that no doubt pleases their regulars. For dessert, the hot apple pie made with Polish Szara Reneta apples is not to be missed." - Michelin Inspector

"Traditional Polish Cuisine at Kogel Mogel A five-minute walk from the main market square and you’re at Kogel Mogel, a cozy, velvet-curtained spot for traditional Polish cuisine. On the cheeky menu, printed to look like a Communist newspaper, watch out for the pierogies and the house specialty: goose marinated in red wine and served with plums."

Google
We had an amazing experience at this Michelin-recommended restaurant. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious! We started with the Start With dish, followed by wine and a main course. For dessert, we had a wonderful treat that complemented the meal perfectly. The prices were reasonable for the quality of food and the overall experience. It was our first time here, and we will definitely be coming back for more

Google
Great spot for traditional Polish food in the heart of Kraków. We tried pierogi, polish cheese assortment, homemade bread, soup, meat and beetroot dishes… all were delicious and well-prepared. Cozy interior, nice garden area and friendly service. Prices are reasonable. Slight wait between courses, but overall a very good experience.

Google
Great restaurant with traditional polish food. It’s a Michelin recommended restaurant. In general the experience met our expectations. We have tried pierogi with goat cheese and minced veal (restaurant’s special). For mains we tried the beef and the breaded pork chop. Both of them were tasty. We finished our meal with the cheesecake option which we felt it was a bit dry. The waiters were super friendly and helpful! The restaurant has a lovely patio and the weather allowed us to dine outside. It’s a good option if you are looking for traditional polish food.

Google
Saw Kogel Mogel in the Michelin guide and we were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and helpful, all saying hello and acknowledging us when we arrived and our waitress was very knowledgeable and helped us choose our dishes. I particularly loved the goats cheese salad starter - so creamy and delicious. We all (4 of us) loved the food, atmosphere and staff but were too full for desert so I think we will have to go back. Thank you to the chefs and hard working staff, we appreciate your effort 👏

I came here for an early dinner. The staffs were welcoming, and the food was nice— I really loved the duck going with baked apples. Very nicely balanced. One of my favourite meal in Kraków.

Google
High end Polish dining at this town centre restaurant. The menu was suitably neat, with a single choice per each meat variety, and a small but well chosen accompaniment of sides. I had the haddock and tender stem broccoli which was light and well presented.

Google
Food was delicious and well cooked. They have explained well and made me feel comfortable during my experience.

Google
The soup is super good. The dumpling is mediocre. But good service. The liver paste is soso, not recommended.

Yelp
This restaurant is Michelin rated, and for good reason. Every dish we tried was impeccably done, and they have a wide selection of wines for all budgets. The goose liver pate was delicate, without too much of the earthy aroma that sometimes pate can have. The cranberry gelee offset the richness of the pate. I suggest you order bread on the side, to ensure you have enough to spread it on. The roast duck was meaty yet tender and moist. It appears they slow cooked it, very much to perfection. It had a nice crispy exterior, and not too much fat. I had their pan fried beets on the side, and they were smooth and delicate, without over being overpowering. Overall a very nice meal, and I look forward to going back

Yelp
If you are in Krakow, this is a must try place. I have eaten here several times and each time seems better than the last. Most recently I ate there with a friend and we decided to start with the venison carpaccio and beef tartare. If that's too much raw meat for your liking and only want to try one, the tartare would be my choice. Don't get me wrong, they are both great but the tartare is next level. I ordered the Halibut and my friend ordered the slow cooked beef. We also ordered the potatoes. It was more than enough to share. Our food was AMAZING. Not only was our food amazing, so were our drinks. As a matter of fact, my friend said it's one of the best old fashions he has had. On to the service. Our waiter was great. I wish I remembered his name but I don't. He spoke perfect English, explained all of our meals exquisitely, and was the right amount of attentive. I highly recommend this place. Even though it is fine dining, it was reasonably priced.

Yelp
Very central restaurant with some classic polish dishes. The dumplings were out of this world. Great service and a decent selection of wine. Went for a polish cab Sauvignon- blumin delicious.

Yelp
After just one visit I have to say, this place really left me wanting to come back the next day to continue trying everything on the menu. They specialize in Polish cuisine. Not only the food, but the whole experience was purely delightful and enjoyable. Although restaurants awarded with Gault Millau or Michelin Guide have a tendency to be pretentious and unfriendly, 'Kogel Mogel' is a place where the guests feel extremely welcomed and invited. We ordered two appetizers; 'Goose liver pate served with jelly made with Porto wine, onion and apple preserves, Maldon salt and toasted fruit bread" and "Smoked beef tenderloin tartar served with quail egg yolk, onion, cucumber, mushrooms and lovage mayonnaise". The goose pate was outstanding in my opinion. Its consistency and temperature made it feel like eating extraordinary, creamy and buttery dessert. I loved it and couldn't get over the great texture. The beef tartar was also tasty, but I couldn't stop thinking that the portion size was made for a gnome rather than human. The meat was delicious but the quail egg yolk was tiny and the mushrooms were even smaller, but they looked cute and simply perfect. The presentation was beautiful with onion arranged like a flower, very impressive. Our main dishes came steamy hot to our table. My 'Fried breast of guinea fowl with delicate truffle sauce and celeriac casserole' was great. You can't beat anything which is made with truffles. It is always an interesting culinary experience. 'Roasted duck served traditionally with grilled apple, purée made of apples and celery, potato dumplings' was perfect. Crispy skin-covered and with deliciously moist meat made me wanted it more than my choice of guinea fowl. It was actually a big portion so I think my dish was just right amount of food for me. I can't say enough about the wonderful service. Our waiter was around only at the exact moment we needed him. It felt like he could read our minds from a far distance to give us comfortable space to have fun with our meal and each other's company. A Christmas tree was already on, but I didn't mind getting into a holiday spirit. The piano man was playing carols and classic songs making the atmosphere festive, relaxing and special. Next time I'm in Krakow, this is a must destination for having nice evening and great food.

Yelp
This place is fantastic. I'm very impressed with the beauty of this classic restaurant setting. The outdoor garden seating is so pleasant and relaxing. Marta our server was fantastic . Duck confit with soft sautéed apple and gnocchi , goose patè with cranberry and pear drops, a traditional duck broth with handmade noodles and carrot bits, butter tossed potatoes with dill. Krakow once was the a main merchant capitol sitting between the Eurasian silk road and the roads that connect the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea also making it one of the main transportation merchant centers of the world

Yelp
Rye soup with hardboiled egg and ham was a great starter. Cabbage rolls were presented well and delicious

Yelp
For a Michelin mentioned restaurant this is a terrible choice. We have eaten in plenty 1, 2 and 3 star places and this not something that should be in the guide. We had reservations but had to wait for table despite rain and were given the worst table in room despite asking for a different one. Waitress was extremely rude to us. We waited over 30 minutes for her to take order then additional hour and half for food. When we mentioned that waitress got even ruder and told us we can leave if we don't like it which we did without finishing our meal. As that really was over the top. Food tasted terrible. My wife ordered tartar and duck soup and was given chicken soup that tasted like one from a grocery can. When she mentioned this to waitress she started to argue with her and tell her she does not know what she is talking about. Tartar tasted ok but can get better in any restaurant in Poland. I ordered herring which was ok but dry. I then had veal pierogies which were totally undercooked and bland in taste. My wife never got her main dish. We only had 3 nights in Krakow but thankfully we had other dinners at 3 Rybki which also has Michelin mention place which they well deserve it and Wierzynek which is always a great choice Michelin or not and we had great experience there. That saved our Krakow culinary experience since we are both foodies type. Next time in Poland I will not go to Kogel Mogel again there are plenty of great restaurants in Krakow which we could have visited. On upside the place was cheap but so is any milk bar in Krakow.

Yelp
I had the half duck and it was cooked perfectly and the sauce was excellent. Highly recommend this dish at this restaurant.

Yelp
This restaurant, situated not far from the market square, is a wonderful place if you want a reasonably priced and delicious meal. Yes, it's more expensive than most places in Krakow, but with the current exchange rate, it's still ridiculously good value for a UK tourist like me. The service was exemplary, staff being very friendly and approachable, and the wait time for food was minimal, despite it being a very busy evening in the restaurant with several large parties. The atmosphere in the restaurant was also lovely, with music at the perfect volume to be an accompaniment and not a hindrance. The food I ate - goose in plum sauce, a starter of oyster mushrooms and shallots in foamed butter, and a chocolate fondant - were all very satisfying. My partner had a steak tartare to start which was absolutely incredible. And be sure to try the selection of 5 vodkas for a mix of incredibly strong and incredibly delicious drinks!

Yelp
I had a "light" lunch here with a starter of goose liver pate, a main of golabki with buckwheat and mushroom in truffle sauce, and a dessert of pistachio foam and passion fruit sorbet. The meal was quite a bit heavier than I had enticipated. The golabki looked small but the buckwheat made it very filling. Alas, the buckwheat is the part I found the least tasty. But it is a traditional ingredient and I shouldn't fault its use. The truffle sauce and lightly scorched cabbage wrap are on the other hand excellent, I wanted more of those. The starter and dessert were very nice too, particularly the passion fruit sorbet sitting on a bed of crushed sweet and acidic powder. That was brilliant.

Yelp
If you want traditional Polish food, this place is an absolute must do! The restaurant seems a bit fancy, but we were seated without a problem wearing jeans and multiple layers of sweaters. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating, and the food is #%^^##$ incredible. We had the goose leg, and also perogies. Both items were nothing short of culinary art. I also had the rabbit soup with quail egg. The soup was served in a bread bowl which added to the presentation, and the taste. The prices are a bit higher than many of the others around, however, we still found it to be a great deal ($42 US for alletizer, soup, 2 main dishes, water, and wine). If you are an adventurous eater, you MUST TRY THIS PLACE If you are a meat and potatoes type of person, who doesn't like to try new things, you can still do well here with the perogies. Easy 5 stars. If I come back to Krakow, I will eat here again.

Yelp
I can only say, it would be perfect to go here for dinner, because they served the most attractive food in the plate.. I would eat here with my love one every night.. P.S.: They have special table for Kids to play too!

Yelp
There are drawings of eggs in all of the rooms with different themes. If you're a fan of eggs, it's definitely worth a visit. It's a Michelin rated restaurant, delicious food, friendly service. We ordered the vegetarian pierogi.. I still dream about that pierogi!
google avatar

Lark A.

Yelp
Kogel mogel has "lightened" up its dishes and made the menu more continental-style. Less traditional flavors and more trendy (i.e. Fancier plating and smaller portions). I liked the pierogi and beef cheeks that I ordered. Polish Traditionalists may be disappointed .

Yelp
One of the best meals (of many great ones) on this Poland trip This was the first restaurant we ate at upon arriving in Poland, we had been wandering the streets near the main square and the restaurant's charming ambiance, and the promise of "the best goose in Krakow", drew us in (full disclosure: one of the main reasons we came back to Poland was for the great goose dishes!). The restaurant is beautifully appointed, with an old world class and charm. The staff were patient with our less-than-fluent Polish and able to help in English. The menu is a fascinating take on traditional Polish flavours presented in whole new ways. The roasted leg of goose confit was marinated in red wine, honey, marjoram and Polish plums and served with roasted plums. The goose leg was huge, succulent and flavourful; this dish was voted "best goose in Poland" in 2012 - and in a country where you can find outstanding goose everywhere that's quite an accomplishment. The second entree was grilled roe deer sirloin marinated in juniper and blackberries served on gingerbread sauce and grilled slices of orange. Yes, gingerbread sauce! This was an inspired and incredibly unique combination of traditional flavours, absolutely scrumptious. Our dessert was Kogel Mogel, a traditional delight every Polish child grew up eating. This has been part of Polish cuisine since the days of Kings and Queens, and regained popularity during the scarcity of communism. Essentially this is made up of egg yolks with sugar beaten vigorously like one would do meringue, allowing the friction to cook the yolks until they become frothy. This is a decadent and rich dessert not to be missed if you haven't had the chance before, and I have never see it on a restaurant menu. In this case it was served over baked strawberries which was a marvellous touch. We highly recommend this restaurant for those who want to experience true, modern Polish cuisine.

Yelp
This is a somewhat upscale restaurant and even though it was high season and we didn't have a reservation they were very accommodating. The food was excellent and the service was superb. Thanks for an enjoyable evening.

Yelp
Lovely place with great service. But be sure to make a reservation. The goose leg was so good! Meat was tender and the sauce was a great addition.

Yelp
Local polish friends say this may be "a bit more touristy" then some spots but had a fantastic experience here and enjoyed the vegan offerings Great service also. Would like to see more regional wines offered :)

Yelp
If you are looking for a Polish food Restaurant I highly recommend coming here. The staff are very welcoming. The food was outstanding. You must get the mix dumplings!!

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended by our local host and it was phenomenal. Best dish: Rabbit soup Best drink: Local vodka sampler Atmosphere: Classy but unpretentious Staff: Friendly, perfect English WiFi: Fast Overall: Highly recommend

Yelp
Classy but a miss with the food and drink. Pierogies were again lacking, cabbage rolls were bland, mulled wine was over done with cloves. Coming from Austria, so much better to be had with wine. Being Polish and had better pierogies in most other places, the best was my company.

Yelp
Nice ambiance and good flavors, slightly on the fancier side (more expensive and smaller portions compared to an average Polish restaurant). Would recommend it for a nice dinner, not necessarily for lunch.

Yelp
The restaurant Kogel Mogel is decorated as 1960'/1970's style Poland, and the ironic motto seems to be only the Best for the Working Class. The restaurant has large rooms, and it is spacey enough to get a seperate room for a group. We reservated early, and there have been other groups in the restaurant the same time as us, but there also seems to be space for couples or small groups up to 4 people in the first room. The menu is printed like a newspaper, and it is written in the style of a communist-time pep talk. They provide it in Polish and English. If you are into their make fun of the revolution humour, it is a pleasure to read the menu, the motto party can start here already. We started with the soup. I ordered beetroot soup aka Barszcz (the Polish version) with croquet and it stood the comparison with other beetroot soups I had this week. One of our travelling party had a delicios soup baked in bread dough but we didn't find out what that was called on the English menu (he ordered in Polish). That was definitely the specialty you should order if eating here! I left out the main course, but neither the ones who ordered fish nor the ones who ordered meat had anything to complain. My Bourgeouis salad with goat cheese was delicious. But what should you definitely order in a restaurant that is named after a dessert? Of course a dessert! So we found out that a Kogel Mogel is some sweet eggt foam made out of the whole egg, not only the white. And I kept dreaming about the Landlady's pride for quite some days really delicious hot apple pie with ice cream. Anything else to add?! Good selection of Vodkas, ok range of beer. (I don't need to order Paulaner when in Poland, really.) Only reason to keep me from giving 5 stars is the toilet only one at all for a full restaurant is not really enough

Yelp
This place apparently serves Galician region cuisine. All I know is that their rosół was most welcome after a crazy weekend drinking with my Goral friends in Zakopane. Defining rosół as simply Polish chicken soup does it no justice so be sure to try it yourself. I'm sure it's just as heartwarming even without a hangover. The soczyste rumiane żeberka, or spareribs, tasted reminiscent of the Chinese-American take-out staple because of the use of plum sauce but that's where the similarities end. Where as the take-out spareribs can be charred or dry, I felt Kogel Mogel braised their's perfectly with a healthy serving of plum and wine reduction. If you are hungry, be sure to order a side, or a dodatki, too. Even the price was remarkable. All three of us individually ordered a rosół, a hot beverage, a bottle of water, and an entrée and it all came out to $60 USD, tip included because the service was fantastic. That's American diner prices except at Kogel Mogel, you get charming decor and tastier, less processed homestyle cooking. Just brilliant.

Yelp
Really enjoyed a light lunch. We had the pumpkin soup and the veal pierogi. Soup was not too creamy and had a good flavor. The pierogi were outstanding. Service was a little slow, but not overly so. Recommended.

Yelp
Amazing food and service. Possible to get some vegetarian food. The main course was all in brown but the table went silent... very occupied by the taste of the food. Remember to pick a desert as well!

Yelp
Fantastic service and food. Duck, pork chop & cheese plate fantastic. Beautiful outside atmosphere

Yelp
Delicious food and good, happy and very polite service. I had a award winning goose leg and a wonderful apple pie - just as tasty as I hoped it would be when I saw our "neighbours" ordering it. They also serve Polish wine by the glad if you want to have a taste - not half bad, but then again, my expectations to the wine were very low.

Yelp
This is a nice Polish restaurant which offers variety of choices. I went for steak, my friends tried goose and duck. We were all happy.

Yelp
This place is to die for! Amazing food, great service and awesome vibe. Worthy coming to Krakow just to eat here!

Yelp
On our last night in Kraków, my best friend and I decided to treat ourselves to a nice meal. Kogel Mogel, with its fantastic prices and delicious food, was the perfect place for that. The restaurant itself was cosy and ambient, with a beautifully decorated interior. The staff was friendly, accommodating, attentive, and amazingly well-trained. The manager of the restaurant was present often on the floor and served customers their food, asking if they needed anything else. This was particularly refreshing to see as it showed he had a good relationship with his staff. They all spoke perfect English and did not treat English-speakers with any shred of disdain (which can be the case in some places). The food was well-served and beautifully made: the duck and pork we ordered melted in our mouths. Highly recommend this Michelin star restaurant!!

Yelp
Great decor around Christmas. Cappuccino mushroom soup was tasty. Stek z golonki i kopytkami, as attached on the picture, was very good. Professional staff. You can tell they care about their guests and value their good reputation.

Yelp
This restaurant was fabulous! The server bent over backwards to satisfy our needs and the food choices and taste were outstanding. I had the trout and it was cooked perfectly: crispy on the outside and soft and flaky on the inside, stuffed with sprigs of rosemary. Delicious!

Yelp
Great venue for evening outdoor dining. Nice wine list. Excellent cheese plate. Extensive menu. Perogies are outstanding. Staff was attentive and helpful. Enjoyable place to dine!
