The 19 Best Restaurants In Maui - Maui - The Infatuation

"What happens when one of Maui’s best chefs builds out the menu at the Koholā Brewery taproom at Wailea Village? You get upscale takes on bar food. Think the fanciest pretzel you’ve ever had, glazed with a pilsner beer syrup, dotted with beer cheese, and dusted with aku bottarga, and a sandwich stuffed with shredded braised short rib and topped with fried onions (consider it Funyuns meet French dip). And, yes, while we love convenience store musubi in Hawai‘i, don’t miss one of their version. They have five fancy options, including one with wagyu striploin, but the must-try is the pork belly slab that graces the fist-sized portion of rice." - martha cheng

Happy hour runs Monday to Friday, 2 to 5, then again from 8 to 10. It’s a beer-forward situation—don’t come expecting artisanal cocktails or some obscure Japanese whisky. The happy hour food? Honestly, skip everything except the tacos. They’re solid. No frills, no consommé on the side during happy hour, which is a damn shame if you know what that rich, greasy broth can do to a tortilla soaked in beef fat. But if the waitress likes you—or if you ask the right way—you might score a small cup. The burger(not on happy hour) That thing is a beast. Juicy, delicious, and just the right kind of messy. I’d come back just for that. Happy hour here isn’t perfect there’s not a lot of food to choose from, but it’s got just enough charm to pull me in again.

If you’re in Wailea, you need to stop at Koholā Brewery for a cold beer and some great food. Pull up a stool at the bar and say hello to Brian. He’ll hook you up with some solid menu recommendations. The birria tacos are delicious, as was the Lahaina Lite Kolsch. Perfect way to finish off a round of golf in Wailea. 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

Had a great experience here! The host notified us of short staffing upon arrival, but we got out food in a very timely manner. I had the Koholā dip sandwich and I have to say it was some of the best food I had on Maui. Highly recommend it! Prices are very fair as well.

Enjoyed our lunch sitting outside. Service was good. Would like to see more choices on the menu, hopefully they will add more variety. Nonetheless, beer was cold and food was tasty.

Google
Beer was good, atmosphere is typical of a smaller brewery. Only complaint was that the music was a bit laud and resulted in not a lot of conversation. (We had 12 of us) A bit off the main walking area downtown so consider driving. All and all worth going and bring some food!

Melanie Beard

Google
Excellent food and atmosphere. By far the best food we’ve had in Maui! Each dish had an eclectic mix of high end Hawaiian cuisine and quality food.

Ashton Almeida

Google
Nice outside seating with delicious food. Get the “I’d Smash That Burger”! It was so tasty and paired well with the EVEN BETTER Hurricane Fries. I’d definitely come back!

Tim

Google
Located in an industrial park the brewery is set up really nice. Beers are good and prices are fair. Service was great, it's dog/family friendly (had soda/water for the non beer drinkers), plenty of merch for sale, and seating. TV is on and music is playing. Come with takeout, there is no kitchen.

Yelp
What a killer addition to the shopping center up from the Wailea mall. This place had live music the night we went, plenty of drinks and what surprised me the most--amazing bites. The smash burger is a no brainer while the pretzel is classic (but really good!) brewery food. Don't quote me on beers (not an aficionado) --but the place is freaking cool, great service and loved how open and airy it was. Love to see the success after having to move. Go if in Wailea/Kihei!

Yelp
Loved the open air vibe and was overall pleased with the experience. Very casual brewery that sits up on a hill in Wailea. Wide beer selection and nice combo of brewery light bites and full dinner options if you're on the hungrier side. I really enjoyed their birria tacos - crispy shells, tender meat, and flavorful consomé (and I'm from San Diego!!). Pretzel was meh but scratched the brewery pretzel itch (but $19???). Wasn't a fan of their falafel hummus - all falafel and no hummus, but the waiter did warn us about this so probably our fault for still ordering. Service was efficient and server was friendly. Recommend for a fairly quick and casual meal.

Yelp
Smiley system Food/Beer :D Ambiance :D Service :D This is a severely after the fact review but great place we went here multiple times. Get the thing that I got, it was good. Try the beers I had too, highly recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Good beers, full bar, super nice servers! They have a food menu, but didn't try any. Airy, open space. Perfect for some after-beach beers.
google avatar

Bonnie S.

Yelp
Such a great place. Awesome food with great beer pairings. The open air patio seating is really nice. Even if you don't drink, the food is well worth it. We got the pork belly musubi, fried chicken steamed buns, and the stuffed garlic bread. Everything was so delicious and the fusion really works well. Because of the golf course, parking right up front is a bit limited.

Yelp
I am a little dissapointed. I had really high hopes. Came for happy hour, and there was good and bad. My parents liked the vibe. Pros: Good beer prices on happy hour. Unique pretzel. I like the Lahaina Haze. 2/3 people in our party liked the pretzel. Birria taco was delicious and a good price. Con: only had the pilsner in the can, and the server said he would discount it because it was smaller and a can. Initially on the bill he didn't discount it. Pretzel was the most expensive pretzel I have ever had. Honestly it is like a garlic bread donut with carmel. Unique, but weird and rich and not for everyone. I would have liked to pay half the price for half the size. Service was a little slow. Took a long time to get our water refilled. Paid cash and got back change that made it harder to leave the tip unless we were to leave like an 80% tip. We bought a $30 t shirt so a $20 tip on a pretzel and 3 beers with a taco would have been kind of a lot.

Yelp
We were blanking on dinner one night and saw Kohola Brewery show up in the search results. Surprisingly, it was less than 3 minute walk from our hotel so we thought why not give it a shot. I guess we never walked that far into the shopping center before it was hard to miss this smal building with the open space and lots of seating. Wasn't too busy around dinner time, enough that we could get seated immediately. Very new looking building. Found out that they were temporarily re-locating from Lahaina due to the fires. We were very hungry so we ordered a bunch of stuff to share. We got the Beer-ia Tacos, Bulgogi Pork Steamed Buns, Macadamia Nut Brie, and a Salted Plum Musubi. To drink we got the Red IPA, the Waterman IPA, the On The Fringe, and the Makena Sunset. Everything we got hit the spot! The steamed buns and musubi were solid but that mac nut brie and beer-ia tacos were our favorite parts. The Waterman IPA was refreshing and hoppy as you would expect from a good IPA. A great place to spend time with family and friends for a few hours with great brews and food.

Yelp
We had a great experience as our first time coming here. We like the openness of the place and its vibe. They have $5 beer from 11am to 4pm and the food menu is reasonably priced. The service we received was excellent. We ended up ordering the Adobo Musubi, Fried Chicken Steamed Buns and fries. Everything tasted good especially the fries. The only thing was the adobo was a bit dry and not tender. Everything else was very good. My husband ordered the Amber Ale and I ordered the tequila drink with jalapeño (sorry I don't remember what it was called). My husband likes his beer really cold so he asked for a glass of ice. My drink was perfect! We will be back to try other menu items plus we have also mentioned it to our friends.

Yelp
We stopped in as I had and loved the Lahaina Haze at the Coco Deck. When we saw the tap room in Wailea, we had to go. Food was excellent, we had a mix of things - along with our beers :) there aren't a lot of pics here - so I wanted to take a few and let folks know. Garlic bread - new take on a tradition. The cheese was great and it was really garlicky :) Musubi - we had a pork belly and the hurricane. Hurricane came as an onigiri - and was delicious. Both fell apart a bit but we didn't mind. Portion size on the pork belly was bigger than expected in a good way Smash burger - my partner had this. He reports that it was good, the ratios were good, and they were appropriate smashed. (He ate the entire thing so I'm assuming it was delicious). Southern fried chicken buns - I would go back for these alone. Crispy, great seasoning, etc - so good I apparently forgot to take a pic All in all, really happy to see Kohola getting back on their feet again after the fire. We're rooting for ya and will be back! Yelp
Great place to a chill and relax. The Vibe is very inviting. Loved it. After a hot day chasing the little white ball around 18 holes.... winding down with some grindz and brews was perfect. Located in a small complex just up from Grand Wailea off of Wailea Ike Drive... it's easy to find. I think walking wise; it's about 1/2 mile to the Grand Wailea main lobby. Dominic was fantastic. He took care of us from start to finish.... seating us ... recommending what to order ... serving us.. making sure all was good. I'm not what I call a 'beer person'. Wine is more my drink of choice, but I do like to try new things. Glad that I do. I really liked their Hazy IPA. It's juicy and easy to drink. Their food is ONO! Highly recommend the chicken buns. I had to share with the husband and was seriously considering getting another order just for me but then remembered that we had dinner reservations for later and not to overindulge too much at lunch. I also enjoyed the noodle salad which was light and went great with the chicken buns. The sesame-soy dressing was light and not overpowering. I'd totally order this again. But I saw other things on the menu I'd like to try too. Next time we're on Maui, we are totally coming back here. A Hui Hou, Kohola Brewery!

Yelp
Great flight of beers and friendly service. Clean restrooms. Nice outdoor ambiance. The food looked really good, should have dined here instead of Spoon & Key.

Mary A.

Yelp
I' am biased but I think k this place has it all- amazing staff, Killer food, super fun vibe and the best beer! I love all the things on menu- Smash burger,Pretzel as big as your head, Beer-ia Tacos, poke bowl somen noodle salad! There is something g for everyone!!

Yelp
Once again I would like for you to know that you should absolutely come eat and drink here. This is my third time and have tried all new menu items and again they were FABULOUS. The garlic bread was unreal and the bao buns made my heart do happy little flips!!! My uncle can talk anyone's ear off and both servers we had tonight were so nice and talked to him for so long Love love love it here!

Yelp
Koholā Brewery has been a favorite in Hawaii for many years. Their colorful cans featuring their whale fluke logo were available statewide, but it was always a treat to get their beer on draft in Lahaina. With the wildfires in 2023, they lost their location, both the brewery and taproom. Thankfully after a year of hard work, they finally have a physical location again and it's a beautiful one. Where the original was a working warehouse tucked off the main streets, this one is in the new Wailea Village on Maui's South Shore. The mall buildings are sitting on a hill, so you still get beautiful ocean views. Koholā Brewery sits by itself around a courtyard with a large beautiful tree, flowers are everywhere. The taproom is all open air with high ceilings and fans, you'll have fresh air no matter where you sit. They have tables for small groups or large ones, plus bar areas for sitting or standing. They have TVs over the bar to cater to sports fans as well. To the back left is a merchandise area and the restrooms. The bar is the main focus in the middle. As of this writing shortly after the opening, they have five core beers on tap, plus a number of local and national guest taps for any beer style. They also have proper glassware for each style, which is always a great touch for a beer fan. The food menu is awesome and mostly local produce and ingredients: fried chicken and gravy, burgers with spicy pickle relish, handmade musubi, fern salad, fries with dipping sauce. I recommend it all. The staff is new and excited; we had great interactions with everyone from the bartenders to servers. If you're a beer fan visiting Maui, it's worth your time to visit. They'll appreciate the support!

Yelp
Even though we're on the west side we had to come back here. The smashburger is just so good I felt like there was an invitation come back and have another. The beer selection is great. And Joe the bartender has a unique way of describing some of the food choices on the menu. The only disappointment was the salad that my partner ordered, we both thought it was going to be a meal size salad but the size of it turned out to be what could easily be called a side salad. We think $14 for such a small salad is extraordinarily high even for Maui. One star bumped for that. So if you're in the area I really suggest you stop by and have some good local brews. Don't order the salad unless you're already full. Say hi to Joe.

Diane A.

Yelp
They now have happy hour weekdays with a tasty poke bowl and Beria taco. Friendly staff, making sure we have what we need, and open air with room the enjoy the beer and folks who gathered.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
If you want something smaller than Maui Brewing but kinda the same, this place will work just fine...and the make a good brew.

Dana A.

Yelp
Excellent fish tacos and we loved their Red Sand Amber Ale which was served very chilled and with a smile! Efficient service too!
google avatar

Yelp
Great open air experience and the chef knows what they are doing. The black garlic dipping sauce for the fries is the bomb. Too bad it's doing remove from the menu. Fried chicken sandwich and beef dip Ah-maze- ing. And I'm not a beer drinker and I loved their beer

Yelp
From the moment we walked in, Koholā Brewery had us hooked...great vibes, and friendly staff! Totally worth the drive from Lahaina area. We kicked things off with the Unagi Spam Musubi, and let me tell you--this is the only way to eat musubi now. Each bite was pure perfection, seriously amazing! Next up was the Smashburger, and wow, this one is a must-try. Hands down one of the best smash burgers I've had; juicy, packed with flavor, and downright unforgettable. For a lighter option, we tried the Mahi-Mahi Caesar Salad, and everything was so fresh! From the butter lettuce to the house made dressing, you could taste the quality in each bite. We also had the Somen Noodle Salad. I loved the cool, refreshing flavors of the chilled noodles, egg, tofu and yummy dressing. Of course, we couldn't skip the brews! The IPA was smooth and full of flavor, and the Pilsner was just as refreshing! If you're on the island, Kohola Brewery is a must-stop.
google avatar

Jonathan K.

Yelp
We had an excellent meal here as a family of four. The food was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared, and everything we ordered was a hit. Service was good. The adult smash burger was a standout--juicy and packed with flavor, with a double patty, cheese, slaw, spicy sauce, grilled onions, and a crisp bun. The kid's smash burger was a simpler, single-patty version with only cheese -served with fries, and it went over very well with our kid. The blackened mahi Caesar salad was fresh and well-balanced, with the mahi seasoned perfectly. The kid's corn dog, while not traditional, was a fun twist made with mozzarella and prosciutto fried up like a corn dog. It didn't actually contain a hot dog, but it was crispy, unique, and very tasty. The beers were excellent, and the quality of the food here easily outshines the much pricier options across the street at the Grand Wailea. Highly recommend this spot for a delicious and casual meal.
google avatar

Claire N.

Yelp
Really good food/options, quality beer, staff were all friendly and welcoming and fun vibe! And I loved the merch! We will be bringing the whole crew when they are on the island with us! We are lucky to have a location in Wailea! And you deserve all your success as you grow! This beer is quality! Well done!

Yelp
We stopped in last week after having drinks at the neighboring tiki lounge. This place is pretty casual and had a chill atmosphere, comparatively speaking. It was pretty busy and a large group was in front of us, but we got seated in the outside area quickly. I had a Lokahi Pilsner- light and easy with a nice taste. We shared a burger and asked for the jalapeño jam on the side. Glad we did! That stuff had some KICK to it. But if you love spice, it's probably perfect. We also got the pretzel. I liked the flavor and the presentation. I would have never known there was fish (aku) involved if it wasn't mentioned. Last but not least, we tried the Pohole salad, which I was excited to see on the menu. I'd give theirs a solid 7.5/10. Our server was on it. She made good recommendations and was very friendly. We will be back for sure.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
Great Restuarant, Food was really good. Hostess was really nice & our server Dominic was was the best. Hard to beat this place, great value for your money. We came here two days in a row.
google avatar

Yelp
Just had to upgrade to a 5 star since I find myself going back often and found another menu item that will keep me coming back. The fried chicken in steamed buns. That chicken is sooo good not to mention the bacon jam. It comes with a gravy that just adds to it but honestly doesn't really need since the chicken has so much flavor on its own. I will also repeat that I believe they have the best guest beers on tap here. Variety of types of beers with some pretty high ABVs if you are a craft beer snob like me, you will find something you like. I think the Beer-ria tacos are still my favorite food menu item. Oh and they do have live music. Not sure nights and times but check it out!
google avatar

Rudy T.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped here for lunch. I over ordered because I wasn't sure of how big the two "Beer-ia" tacos would be. I had no need to worry. The tacos were very filling and full of flavorful pork. The au jus was so good that we dipped our chicharrones in it! My loved the Mahi mahi sando that she ordered. A very generous portion of fish. We also ordered fries. Our server, Asia, was very friendly and checked in on us often. The only negative was that my tacos came 10 minutes before my wife was served. Overall good experience and we would come back.
google avatar

Kaitlyn C.

Yelp
Great food, delicious beer and wonderful customer service. Glad to finally visit the taproom after having their beer on tap locally while visiting Maui.
google avatar

Julie E.

Yelp
Food and service is amazing! Good price point! Fun place to go with friends! We all work in Wailea and great to get away and enjoy food and drink! Highly recommend!!

Karleen H.

Yelp
It's a nice spot in Wailea, but pricey. When they charge $42 for a shot of Don Julio tequila, sorry that is ridiculous. Food was okay, but gave had better.
google avatar

Vanessa F.

Yelp
We came back not once but 2 more times ! Such great food !!! I wish I could copy the chicken and baun buns .
google avatar

Kiyara G.

Yelp
Waitress was awesome!! Remembered 8 orders perfectly without even writing it down. Also ordered a delicious 'i'd smash that burger" but couldn't manage a picture before I ate it.
google avatar

Reg S.

Yelp
Excellent service and a very good burger - excellent side salad too. Loved sitting at bar and chatting with bartender.

Terry C.

Yelp
Current best beer on Maui for me! Had the flight of which every beer was fantastic. Nothing was particularly hoppy if you're looking for a west style ipa. They also had a great assortment of guest brews from both the islands and the mainland. Went Christmas Day and got the $39 prime rib special which also wasn't too shabby especially at that price on Maui!
google avatar

Yvette K.

Yelp
First time at the new location in Wailea. Loved it! Service was excellent, atmosphere was relaxed. Loved the food. My dad ordered the soft shell crab musubi. Only suggestion is to add a wider piece of a wider piece of nori and the rice needs to be sticky to hold it together. Flavor was great, but it fell apart after first bite. Pohole salad was awesome, pretzel was spot on, Cajun fish sandwich flavorful with a little kick and the tacos were amazing. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Julian A.

Yelp
Great new spot in Wailea. Kohola reopened for the first time since they lost their brewery in last year's Lahaina fire. Exec chef is from Pacific'o, if you know...you know. Menu is full of elevated pub fare classics. Everything we tried was so ono, and super reasonable prices. The beer is of course the best on Maui. If you're looking for an easy and fun way to support the Lahaina community in its recovery without volunteering or donating, just grab food and drinks here!
google avatar

DiAnn A.

Yelp
Beer-a tacos were very tasty if a bit greasy. I'd order them again but just wanted to be aware. Service was fast and efficient, but the non- beer drinks were expensive. Chardonnay was 16, more than my meal of two tacos. Open air ambiance is a beer garden, bright and airy and nice and clean.

Kathleen L.

Yelp
My smash burger was the best I've ever had ! A fabulous open air restaurant environment. Our server Sidney was amazing . She was so upbeat . What a fabulous find ! We will be back .
google avatar

Jim B.

Yelp
Nice place to sit and have a cold one while the wife walks around her natural environment trying to fill up our suitcases before the flight home. It's a tough job, but I have faith in her.. bartender another please!!

Yelp
Good service, great beer and food. Enjoyed us open tennis on while tasting several of their beers. I would happily return again!

Yelp
We all enjoyed this new brew pub. Lots of outdoor seating, great locally crafted beers, full bar and mouthwatering food. Burgers were delish! I loved the poke bowl which was fresh caught that day and prepared when it was ordered. The fish burger also super tasty ! I am just sorry I failed to take photos but will include next time. Laura our server was great helping us decide what to order. All the staff are welcoming and my compliments to the chef! We also enjoyed the Kohola's Pilsner. It was a hot day and we sat outside. The pilsner was refreshing and an easy drinking beer! We will be back. Thank you Robert for welcoming us to this special and exciting brew pub!

Michael P.

Yelp
They couldn't find bigger plates? FYI... that tiny plate my sandwich came on is a bread and butter plate. My food doesn't look bigger, it just looks ridiculous and it's awkward. not trendy, just silly.

Kalena B.

Yelp
Came in for my boyfriend's birthday & it was a hit! Got greeted within the 5ft rule, and got seated quite quickly. Our server, Sydney, was phenomenal! Very attentive and proactive throughout our stay here! The restaurants overall ambiance during golden hour was perfect! Wasn't too hot! Food was amazing & came out on a timely manner! My favorite is always the bao buns. My boyfriend loved the crispy fish tacos! Our one year old loves the pretzel! Chef Jarrett made a special dessert to complete my boyfriend's birthday night! It was nice to see him and all the staff in that matter, helping one another out as far as serving & bussing! Overall experience is 10/10! Definitely recommend to anyone who's looking for an affordable casual dinner!
google avatar

Ant C.

Yelp
Food was excellent! Best pretzel that I've ever had. My wife loved the cocktail, really lovely location. And the beers are as great as ever.

Yelp
Hey Nietzsche, there is a God! After waiting for a while, and it was a sad while with the fires and the deaths, it was sobering to see Kohola Brewery come out of the ashes. For months or even years, the signs at the brewery noted "Coming Soon!" So many of us beer enthusiasts were ecstatic about our new local brew pub until that fateful day and we then mourned for the people. A few months back, the distinguished Discount Liquor in Kihei begat stocking Kohola so we all bought up as much as possible. Then, the word got out that they might be opening the South Maui Brewery. We were shocked and over joyed. So, here's my review: Was informed that the food is great. What, it's a brewery, good is good enough but great, WTF? Awesome...... So after a drink at TikiHau decided to grab eats and a beer at the brewery. First, we wanted to make sure we made it before the kitchen shuts down. Asked one of the associates, and he said "It's all good....8:45 OK?" Perfect! We got back there around 8PM and checked with the barkeep as to what's original as I have had all their beers. He explained how they have a partnership with Kona. So, I had to inform him that Kona is from Oregon so I'm having a loyalty issue. He then explained that Kona actually does have Hawaii brewery via Big Island so we can keep the $$$ local and showed how the cans differ from mainland and HI. So, I get educated - Awesome..... Grabbed the mixed IPA and of course the poke bowl even thought the TikiHau waitress pushed "Get the fried chicken! It's daBomb!" Maybe another time as I do like fried and or Huli Chicken.......anyway, poke bowl was double dope! The place is open air, very clean, very cool so hate to be the bearer of bad new to Freddy, looks like you were wrong! Enjoy, grab a pint and take in our lovely island! Aloha

R L.

Yelp
Place was clean but slow, out of the beer we wanted and the waiter told me she wouldn't place my food order and if she did she would get in trouble, and I ended up with a piece of ham low quality wrapped around a mozzarella stick. Food was sub average for the area, not family friendly for our group or the table behind us, they can reply with anything they want, I'll never be back, don't waste your time in paradise here.

Joey S.

Yelp
The Smash burger is probably THE BEST burger I have ever had. I went two days in a row. It's juicy, there is a crisp on the bun and onion I think ? And this slight spicy sauce on it that is soooo good. No lettuce no nonsense, just a straight up amazing burger. These guys are killing it.

S. S.

Yelp
The number one thing we loved (came twice on our last visit) is the people. They are so kind and welcoming, just so lovely. The food being so good is just a bonus! Everything we had was great. The vibe is casual and laid back, and just a overall fantastic place to come visit. We plan to pop in again when we visit Maui this week! Thank you Kohola crew!

Sid C.

Yelp
This is a very relaxing place. Open air seating. Happy Hour starts early. I ordered the smash burger and it did not disappoint. My buddy ordered the birria tacos and those were also off the hook good. Service was friendly and top notch. Our bartender kept the water glasses full and served our adult beverages quickly. Their hazy IPA was perfect. Extra props for a half glass on the house when the keg had to be changed! If you like beer and great service, this is a perfect place for you.
google avatar

Nikki Q.

Yelp
The food was really yummy and creative. My daughter had the kids chicken fingers and I was happy to see that it looked like they made it in house. The ambiance and service was on point too.
