Hey Nietzsche, there is a God! After waiting for a while, and it was a sad while with the fires and the deaths, it was sobering to see Kohola Brewery come out of the ashes.
For months or even years, the signs at the brewery noted "Coming Soon!" So many of us beer enthusiasts were ecstatic about our new local brew pub until that fateful day and we then mourned for the people.
A few months back, the distinguished Discount Liquor in Kihei begat stocking Kohola so we all bought up as much as possible. Then, the word got out that they might be opening the South Maui Brewery. We were shocked and over joyed. So, here's my review:
Was informed that the food is great. What, it's a brewery, good is good enough but great, WTF? Awesome...... So after a drink at TikiHau decided to grab eats and a beer at the brewery.
First, we wanted to make sure we made it before the kitchen shuts down. Asked one of the associates, and he said "It's all good....8:45 OK?" Perfect! We got back there around 8PM and checked with the barkeep as to what's original as I have had all their beers. He explained how they have a partnership with Kona. So, I had to inform him that Kona is from Oregon so I'm having a loyalty issue. He then explained that Kona actually does have Hawaii brewery via Big Island so we can keep the $$$ local and showed how the cans differ from mainland and HI. So, I get educated - Awesome.....
Grabbed the mixed IPA and of course the poke bowl even thought the TikiHau waitress pushed "Get the fried chicken! It's daBomb!" Maybe another time as I do like fried and or Huli Chicken.......anyway, poke bowl was double dope!
The place is open air, very clean, very cool so hate to be the bearer of bad new to Freddy, looks like you were wrong!
Enjoy, grab a pint and take in our lovely island!
Aloha
