Google
Kome has been one of our staples for years! Great food, drinks, and friendly service. The Kome y Toma Margarita is my go-to. It never disappoints. Classic Mexican restaurant that deserves more hype.

Google
5 STARS to this place, we had a great time. Viden, Jose, all the staff, and especially the owner gave us excellent service. You can't go wrong with the margaritas and Mexican candy, my favorites. And the food is delicious. It's a cozy, beautiful spot with a great vibe, and you can't miss Dave's live music on Saturdays. Highly recommended

Google
Literally just left this place with a to-go order of birria tacos and menudo. Birria tacos came with no consome, and they were very stingy with the menudo! They threw the smallest portion of cilantro and onion in a styrofoam bowl. Threw everything in the bag including a cup full of salsa that spilled!

Google
Food - negative star. I ordered the Poblano Asado plate, which is a Chile relleno stuffed with shrimp and cheese, wrapped with beef. The beef wrap was cold. The shrimp inside the Chile relleno had the tail on and some shell. I was constantly spitting out my food to spit out the shrimp shell and tail. In no way should someone have to be doing that. No excuse for my food to be cold, I was their ONLY customer at the time, so my food should've been warm. Place looks up and coming. Furniture needs replacing wood on chairs worn out, booth seats worn out. Maybe another TV or two to watch from anywhere. The best thing about this dinner was the green salsa and chips (warm). Was there on Friday 1/10/2025.

Google
I came to try the birria taco. Everything was tasty 😋 from the rice , beens to the meat. Additionally, it's really affordable, and the decor is a mix of Victorian, Country and Mexican art. I felt like I was in a nice foreign place. They also got a nice patio to vibe with friends, I plan to go there more often 🥂

Google
Great place to be at !! Great atmosphere with live music every Friday and Saturday. With a great and friendly staff

Google
I've been going here at least once a week for over 6 months. It's good food but some dishes I'm not happy with. I recommend the civeche or shrimp cocktail. Also, enchiladas have been great. It's a total Mexican atmosphere. Alcohol is so pricey. Like a shot of tequila is $12

Google
I started coming here a month ago . Every time it's hands down the best service. Food is amazing! Drinks are fresh and cold every time! They also have a live music event almost every day but especially on the weekends . This place is now my " go to " restaurant my authentic Mexican food .

Yelp
Great family owned and staffed spot in the SE Austin neighborhood. Appreciated the decor, attention to detail, and extensive bar/food menus! Favorite dish was the queso fundido (we opted for the poblano peppers on this trip and next time we'll get the original chorizo). Would probably not order the carne asada next time, as we would probably opt to try some of their other options like the fajitas! Great spot, where we didn't have to wait on a Friday evening. Will be back!

Yelp
Great Mexican food and solid atmosphere! The staff is really friendly and accommodating.

Yelp
The environment was nice but the music was a bit loud I couldn't even hear my partner even the server struggled hearing us ordering food and the tropon tacos the meat was mushy felt was it not cooked all the way to point later on my partner got sick and vomited

Yelp
We are so happy to see a great restaurant pop up on the east side of Slaughter. This was our first time in here and we were pleasantly surprised by how nice this place is. Walking in we were immediately greeted and got a table. The restaurant itself isn't huge but they had quite a few tables of different sizes for small and large groups. Our server was so friendly and attentive. We ordered the tacos Mixtas so we could try several varieties. I was a big fan of the bistek but they were all delicious. The chips taste homemade, the salsa is fresh. The rice and beans were great. The ambiance felt a bit clubby with the flashing lights and the loud music, but we also went on a Saturday evening and it seemed like the people coming in were wanting that vibe. In front of the fire place was a pretty red throne chair, it would be great for a birthday photo op. We will definitely be back, next time we will try breakfast. I want to try the menudo I saw on the menu! This might also be a weird aside but the bathrooms are so...so...NICE. Like fancy doors and stalls.

Yelp
August 2023-First time here off of Slaughter SE Austin. The food is muy Rico! Awesome! Arrived Sunday afternoon and got the $22 Poblano Asado! Well worth it. Good music and atmosphere. Also posted pics of Menu.

Yelp
I truly can remember the last time we had this bad of an experience at any restaurant in ATX and it especially hit home as Mexican food is our calling. With 205 Mex/Tex-Mex joints under our belts this was just plain sad. Service was just down right brutal...we ordered our waters, and a Queso. Waters came first...followed by chips and salsa 5 minutes later...was told our Queso was coming....Mind you there are 3 waitresses and 3-4 customers and there was more socializing then there was service. 15 more minutes pass before I have to get up and ask if our Queso is coming...Its coming she said...5 more minutes she comes out and says they don't have queso...and it just goes down hill from there. We both ordered Enchiladas....wife beef, no beans...double rice....yet only a single serving of rice, which in our opinion the rice just wasn't that good...I went with the chicken, rice and beans...sadly the beans were So bland I had to add salt...something that is unheard for me...again with the rice...ehh....Luckily both enchiladas were rather tasty. Both of our plates had a Guacamole Salad...Lettuce was severely wilted (see photo) and discolored...and the Guac was dark in color and had a "metallic" taste to it.....a true sign that it is days old. Now we also ordered the street corn...Which consisted of nothing but a bowl of watered down corn (see photo)it was literally sitting in water...I understand its steamed corn...but street corn is supposed to be creamy and rich in flavor...this was canned corn at its best...and yet no Tajin (see photo) on top....and they charge 9$ for this...Last but not least, when I went to pay the bill we were told the credit card system was down....something they should make aware to the customers ASAP...including a sign on the door....They were lucky we had cash on us, very rare we do...other then that it would have been a free meal...and truthfully it should have.... This was a shocking visit for sure....I pride myself in my reviews as I take food seriously....its not cheap to go out to eat....and I constantly push for friends/people to break from there regular spots and try something new...this is a type of visit that would ruin it for just about anyone. I wish this place luck and I hope they work to improve on the overall eating experience.

Yelp
The staff is so friendly and nice. Very relaxed environment and this breakfast was amazing. I've been for lunch and dinner but this is my favorite so far. The only reason it's not 5 stars is the frozen margaritas are so weakkkkkkkkkkk. Gotta have better margs and a happy hour!

Makayla K.

Yelp
I came here with a group of friends for dinner and was highly impressed. The food was good, fresh and service was great. Breakfast was equally delicious!

Yelp
I was really craving a Migas plate one Sunday morning and gave this a try. Ehhh. I wish I could leave my rate at that. I was unimpressed. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? But the eggs tasted like egg beaters and I couldn't even finish the plate. Tortillas were good. I'm going to give it a shot another day and try something else, but I'm not itching to go back anytime soon.

Yelp
This spot just opened in 2023 and was excited to try it since it was nearby where I live! Some friends and I stopped in after doing some car shopping. We were surprised by a Mariachi Band playing for a a gentlemen's 60th Birthday! Pretty great atmosphere definitely fun for a Birthday celebration. I ordered Tacos in a mix variety of Al Pastor, and Pollo. The tacos were decent, nothing to write home about. My friends ordered the Birria tacos and got the same reactions. I also ordered a Margarita which was really delicious! I would come back for the fun atmosphere if anything else!

Yelp
I'm SO excited to have a restaurant on the east side of the highway!! They are located on east Slaughter lane. The chips were disappointing and seemed store bought but the salsa was good. The birria tacos could use more flavor but it was my first time trying birria tacos so I have nothing to compare. The guaraches were really good. There was a mariachi band the night we went. It was a nice surprise for the night. I can't wait to try the taco bar next time. It's only open from 10am-4pm, I believe.

Addie P.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast and it was so yummy! They aren't lying when they say "Authentic Mexican Food" Definitely very comforting and fulfilling.

Yelp
Alright. we went to kome y toma to have dinner and were horribly disappointed. the food was eh, but mostly go for the drinks anyways. will not be doing that anymore after we found a NAIL in our DRINK. management couldn't have cared less, they made a joke about it being a "screwdriver" which would be funny if they comped it. spoiler alert: they didn't. they told us they would comp the drinks, and then only comped the one with the nail. we asked further about it, they argued about taking it off, and then finally did but added miscellaneous charges to make up for the cost of the drink. absolutely ridiculous

Yelp
Oh h3ll yeah, not only four tacos for around $12~14, they were juicy, flavorful, and NOT drenched in grease. Wifey had to Sopes; $9 (mind blown), so many layers of texture balanced with the right amount of seasoning. We made room for churros; had my taste buds realize what good churros are, freshly fried with just enough moisture in the middle. Will be back for the rest of the menu =P

Yelp
Enjoyed the breakfast menu very much. Food was brought to the table quickly. The coffee tasted good too. Glad to have them in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Stopped by at lunch on a cold breezy day. Had the best bowl of tortilla soup that I've ever had. It wasn't your mom's version. This was loaded with everything lots of chicken and all the fixings. It was so good and really hit the spot. Oh and don't pass on the chips and salsa the salsa was perfect.
google avatar

Yelp
I don't often write a bad review. This will be an exception. Austin has many wonderful places to dine. Our experience, at least tonight, was a miss. The location is wonderfully convenient to Goodnight Ranch. Our server was not knowledgeable with the menu. He had difficulty taking our order due to the volume of the music playing so loudly conversation was difficult. The chips and salsa were great. Our appetizer was okay. The enchiladas suiza were plain sour cream and came out cold. The tampiquena dish was okay, really nothing special. With six servers standing around, nobody asked how our food turned out or could be bothered to refill water. I never hope for a business to fail. I fear this spot won't make it.
google avatar

Gina F.

Yelp
Solid four start experience. Really attentive service. Had the birria and al pastor tacos. Both were good tacos and nice sized portions. They weren't the best I've had an Austin and not worst. Squarely there in between. We'd come back for a casual lunch or dinner. The HH is really good, so will def be back to try that. The free homemade salsa is also delicious.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place and gave it a solid 5 tries before forming my rating, solely because it is the only restaurant within 2-3 miles of my home. This shopping strip had been vacant for years and admittedly expectations were high. At first it seemed okay, but over time I've noticed that I've become sick from eating their food and receive different total prices each time for their food. I truly believe at times they decide what to charge each customer rather than charging them what the menu lists as the price. The last straw was when I ordered 4 breakfast tacos that somehow ended up costing over $25. And no, no side of chips and salsa included in that total even though it would still be ridiculous. The order was for 4 Kome Y Toma breakfast tacos which are 3.75 each. How did they get to a total of over $25? The salsas over time have also gotten less spicy and tasty. None of the food to begin with was great, I was only interested in patronizing this place due to convenience and wanting to support a smaller business, but I'm afraid the cost of the food, lack of quality and weird pricing has sent me elsewhere for food. Such a waste of space for this community.

Yelp
Was looking for a close restaurant luckily this one has just opened tucked into slaughter lane past I35. The service was awesome the employees kept checking on us and provided us quickly with any necessities. The restaurant is a casual Mexican bar they do frequent events as there are poster promos. It's a neighborhood restaurant, so it can be popular all at once pick a good hour or go early. There's a good variety of drinks (definitely grab one) and a large selection of traditional Mexican. I got Tacos de canastas (sweaty tacos) because it's rare to be a menu item

Andrea S.

Yelp
Have wanted to eat here for a while since it's like 5 minutes away from home. Finally went, but never again. Food was mehhhh. Ambiance was fine. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CASH or you'll GET CHARGED AN EXTRA FEE!

Andrew R.

Yelp
Hit or miss. I've been here and service and food has been great. Other time's the best thing is the beer. Avoid the soups they're never good. Best bet are the brisket tacos when they're not dry.
google avatar

Olivia L.

Yelp
FANTASTIC hidden gem with great vibes. Ordered house margaritas and steak tacos, absolutely fantastic flavor. Wonderful service, felt so welcoming and eager to make sure we had a fantastic dinner. The live music was a fabulous surprise! Great food, welcoming staff and owners, excellent music. Will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
We love going there especially for their queso flamado. It's so delicious. They have fabulous mixed drinks as well. The service is great and feels like we're visiting friends. The ambiance can be loud especially when it's packed and the mariachis are playing but you gotta love the music which we do. You can sing along and no one else will hear if you're off pitch. Ha ha.

Tim D.

Yelp
I ate here last night. Great tacos. My friend had their chicken soup and loved it. Great chips and salsa.

Yelp
I've driven by this place many times, but never thought about going inside to check it out. It's in a little strip center, so I just didn't think the food would be any good. Oh wow, was I wrong! My wife wanted to stop to check out the food truck in the parking lot and I went to go check out Kome y Toma. I was surprised by how large it was. I was also surprised by how nice it looked inside based on my expectations. It's beautiful on the inside, decorated quite nicely. I sat down at a table near the bar and they brought out salsa and chips. The salsa is hands down the best salsa I've ever had at any restaurant. They also have the perfect chips to go with the salsa. I ordered a house margarita and some queso dip. Both were amazing. I ordered some tortilla soup to go and a margarita to go. I was shocked that the frozen house margarita was in a 16oz styrofoam cup. I expected something much smaller. Since then, my wife and I have become hooked on this place. I figured I was take some pics for a Yelp review when we were they a few days ago. Last thing I'll say is if you're near this place, STOP and visit this restaurant. Everything I've ordered there has been incredibly tasty. The food is well seasoned, well-prepared and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Here's a few pics!

Yelp
My husband and I live nearby and really wanted to like this place. We came in for dinner on February 2, 2023 around 5pm. We started off with two sodas and chips and salsa. Sodas are sold by the can which I know is more common in Mexico but carbonation and free refills are pretty standard in restaurants here but no big deal just a little odd. Then we got the complementary chips and salsa which was honestly really great.. some of the best salsa I've had in a while and I love trying different salsas. The salsa here was well blended, smooth with the perfect amount of heat and amazing flavor. Things were off to a great start so we were really excited to get our food. Then came the entrees. My husband got the birria tacos which he said were ok but they were not crispy at all even though they specifically asked if he wanted them crispy when he ordered. I ordered two veggie tacos on corn tortillas. I got two tacos with a very strange assortment of vegetables- broccoli, cauliflower, snap peas and mushrooms. There was no cheese, no rice and beans and no pico; literally just a plate with two corn tortillas and some undercooked, crunchy veggies and pale mushrooms that hadn't been grilled long enough. I was bummed but tried something else. I ordered the veggie enchiladas hoping it wasn't the same weird vegetables and that maybe the cheese would help. What I got was exactly what I feared and the cheese didn't help. I think they actually used the same veggies from the tacos I sent back because the broccoli was the same shade of yellow. I didn't send the second plate back, but I didn't ask for a to go box either and our waitress didn't seem to care why I left without eating anything but chips and salsa. Management/owners might want to encourage the wait staff to ask about food that isn't eaten. I left my plate on the table exactly as the picture looks and the waitress made no attempt to make us happy. I decided to pay for the enchiladas because I know this is a small business and I hope they succeed, but with Don Dario's and Serranos just down the street, they need to improve their food as soon as possible. We ended up leaving and I got veggie enchiladas from Serranos which contained vegetables that made a lot more sense; mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach, and onion all grilled and not crunchy. I really hope this place improves. It's so close to our house and we'd love to not have to cross 35 for good food. We will come back in a few months and try again, if they're still around.

Yelp
I moved to Texas from San Diego a few years ago and have been on the hunt for some good Al pastor tacos. I came across Kome Y Toma while looking for a place to eat on the way to the Peppermint Parkway light show. The service was excellent! We were met at the door and seated right away. Our waitress was very helpful and was able to accommodate my friend's request for ground beef tacos even though they werent on the menu. I ordered the Al Pastor taco plate. 4 street sized tacos stuffed with amazing Al pastor meat! Plenty of cilantro and onions too. They definitely don't skimp on portions. The chips and salsa were tasty too! Our waitress checked on us often, kept our glasses full & and the chip basket topped off. The restaurant has only been open for several months, but made a big impression on me. Even the manager came by and said hello. Super friendly folks! Located in a new strip mall with plenty of parking!

Yelp
I found this place in IG and was intrigued so I figured I would give them a try next time I was in South Austin. From the get go the service was outstanding. Every single employee was so nice and pleasant. We ordered the queso flameado with flour tortillas, the flautas (half beef and half chicken), the taco sampler and pizza with fries. The queso flameado was delicious, probably one of the best and least greasy that I've had and I've had a ton. The chicken flautas were so much better than the beef ones and now I understand why most places only serve chicken flautas. The brisket taco was the best one from the sampler. The others were okay, but would probably order something else next time. The pizza had pepperoni and it was microwaveable, so my kids were not crazy about it. The did love the brownie dessert with ice cream. Overall, extremely happy I got to try this place and will definitely be back to try other dishes and drinks. Their creamy green salsa is a must try.

Yelp
Great food and service! The staff was friendly and super attentive. Definitely suggest trying them out.

Yelp
Barria tacos very good. Often live music. Not a lot of tables/parking, though have gotten right in with quick service the times I've been there.

AJ S.

Yelp
Bad experience here - it's bland food, and not worth the money or visit. Also poor service - they served us meat in a vegetarian dish after asking if they could confirm that the dish had no meat. Would never go back. Sad excuse for a restaurant.
google avatar

Monica P.

Yelp
Went here because we were in the neighborhood they were open but no one was working so we left and went and got breakfast tacos somewhere else. Can't really say if the food ifnthe food is good or not BUT service is horrible.

Taylor M.

Yelp
There was a nail in my drink and the bill wasn't even comped. I am immunocompromised and they were laughing at me. They added bogus charges after I had to argue about taking the drinks off. I feel very disrespected and like the establishment could not have cared less that they put my health in danger.

Letty O.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I just moved to Austin, and we wanted to try a local restaurant! We came here around 11pm and there was only one other couple in the restaurant. We were surprised by this at the end of our visit because the food was delicious and sooo filling!! The portions were so large, and we felt we got our money's worth. Our server was very sweet and attentive. We got refills from someone who wasn't even our server which is always a sign of a great group of workers!!! The restaurant has a really nice bar, and has a few different tvs. We loved the atmosphere; it was very calm (at least when we went) but had the potential to be more "party-like" when busy. I highly recommend their birria tacos! 4 tacos for $14 is one of the better pricings for birria I've seen! We also read the happy hour menu, and it is something we will definitely be coming back to try!
google avatar

Eugene S.

Yelp
food was okay but service absolutely sucked! went on daughter's birthday and asked host to send us a desert when done with our food, even asked the waitress and since there were six of us they have one of the worst services I ever had. I guess you don't need to work for tips because it was automatically added. food portions were reduced from the week before so not consistent. had much better services at Chuy's! I would never go back, plus I added to the tip that was automatic for them!! never again will I go here. much better options in Austin!
google avatar

Dana S.

Yelp
My friend & I were excited about this place because it was close by. But after one trip we won't be back. I have no complaints about staff. Everyone was very friendly. I can sum up in one word why we won't return. BLAND. Bland salsa, bland food. What a shame.

Kevin M.

Yelp
Tried them for the first time today and got four breakfast tacos for $11. They were great! Great quality especially at the price point. Better than $6 for a taco at other places. This will be my breakfast taco place going forward for sure.

Samantha S.

Yelp
definitely not kid friendly, be prepared to get judge by the servers if your toddler accidentally drops food. Food is not good, and PLEASE ask what it comes with because if you don't like what's in it and want to add something to it they will judge you and add $1 to anything extra you want. Not happy about the Service after driving an hour to this place
google avatar

Maggie M.

Yelp
Dropped in and ordered to go. Great breakfast tacos! I would definitely return next time I'm in Austin.

AnahiIsabel A.

Yelp
Our server Luigi was awesome! The food was good! Definitely, be going back as soon as I can!

Yelp
We love this place! Vibe and music are on point. Food and drinks are great, friendly and prompt service too. So nice to finally have a local bar/restaurant in our neighborhood.

Yelp
My wife and I had driven past this place a lot and we finally decided to check it out. We had been missing out. The service was good but not sure if it's because it was slow inside the restaurant. They had tvs on almost every wall which was nice to watch a game have a couple drinks. They give you chips and salsa when you sit down and the salsa has great flavor. The house margarita on ice was good. It wasn't the best I've had but it also wasn't the worst. Just your basic margarita on ice. I decided to get the chicken flautas and 2 extra tacos on the side (bistec and trumpo). The flautas seemed a little under cooked and could of been a little more crispy but were edible. The bistec and trompo were pretty good also. Each taco was 4.25, Kind of expensive for one regular sized taco. My wife had chicken enchiladas was the guajillo sauce. She liked them. I thought best part of the meal was the service and what I think was Chile de arbol salsa. Super good. Overall enjoyed our time there and we will be back.

Lauren O.

Yelp
GREAT MEXICAN FOOD & VIBE! We stumbled upon this place and decided to try it. The food was amazing and the bartending was next level. They even have a fire breathing shot from Adam, and it made my night. 10/10 recommend, and I'll be back for ladies night on Wednesdays! They also had live music which was great.
google avatar

Scott W.

Yelp
The kitchen closes at 10. Only the bar is open until midnight. You should not advertise that you are open until midnight!!! This was our first time to come here. We came at 10:05. We won't be back. Period.

Fidencio H.

Yelp
Great food, good prices and friendly staff, they have live music on weekends. Real Mexican food or Antojitos Mexicanos, we tried "tacos de canasta" riquísimos!!!
google avatar

Kristie A.

Yelp
Awful food. Total waste of money. The tricolor is crappy guacamole, subpar spicy salsa and cheese sauce that's cold. The chips and salsa that are free are decent. My husband got the beef fajita nachos and they barely had cheese and there were so many beans on the plate that the nachos were super soggy. I got the tacos mixtos on flour. The chicken fajita was dry. The beef fajita was not good. And the carnitas and brisquet were terrible. Also got the kids meal cheese quesadilla and fries. My kids hated it. Luckily they shared a plate and I didn't have to pay to throw two kids meals away. Don't see this place lasting long unless they get a better food menu.

Yelp
This place is wonderful! We've been here twice in the morning to pick-up breakfast tacos. They're always hot, fresh & delicious! And the huevos rancheros look amazing, we definitely need to come in and sit down one morning to appreciate the full experience. The decor is gorgeous & they have a full liquor license. We're glad they're in the neighbourhood!!!!

Keith L.

Yelp
The food is way too expensive. It's not worth it. The worst part the owner of the place gets drunk and adds charges to your bill. Stay away from this place.
