"This Asian fusion restaurant is Denton’s go-to for sushi and ramen. The combination of Asian and Latin flavors shows up all over —  in the Loco Eggroll (chorizo, pineapple, kimchi, and cream cheese), the Southern Smoke ramen (smoked pork combined with adobo chili broth), and Killa Kimchi tostadas. Sushi can be straightforward, great cuts of fish or fusion speciality rolls, including the beef fajita and Cow-A-Bunga. It’s funky, and it’s just the right fit for this town." - Courtney E. Smith

Google
This place is a bit pricy but totally worth it! I love the Texas twist it has on Asian cuisine. The staff was incredible. The atmosphere is also amazing. The food is DELICIOUS!

Google
I ordered the salmon sashimi. The place is a bit pricey, but really where isn't right now? The sashimi was so delicious, and I took the egg from my friend's ramen. It was also absolutely to die for. The atmosphere on this place was unmatched, and I absolutely could have spent hours talking with my friends here.

Treat your taste buds to a night on the town with the amazing sushi and appetizers at komodo loco. The Bao Buns were scrumptious and the sushi rolls were fresh and delectable. Come down and let Chase make you a refreshing cocktail or a nice pint of Japanese beer.

Food was delicious! Drinks were amazing! Our server was great! Definitely recommend eating here⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My wife and I dined here last night (on Black Friday). We loved everything about this cozy, hip pan-Asian joint. Although we didn't have reservations, they sat us immediately. For a starter, we chowed down on the Ninja Totchos, which comes with pickled jalapeño and red onion, chimichurri, and Korean bbq sauce. For entrees, my wife got the smoked tofu maki rolls, and I got the Southern Smoke Ramen. This particular ramen comes with pulled pork, which I prefer, instead of chashu. We will have to return soon to dine on the back patio!

Delicious fusion food with plenty of options for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. Kids loved the giant ice cream sandwiches made with macarons.

Google
LOVE this place. The hidden gem of Denton. Their Mean Green roll might be the best sushi roll I've ever had. Elle was a phenomenal server. Lot of personality and great recommendations.

Google
The first time I came here I wasn’t a fan. The food menu isn’t for those who like basic things. It’s different and out of the box. However it’s one of my favorites now as I found a sushi roll I love. Takes two to Mango is my favorite sushi roll!

Yelp
The BEST sushi in the state of Texas! The tuna tower is unmatched... my standards for sushi consumption has gone up thanks to Komodo. We try and keep this place a secret as it is smaller and can get busy, but I won't lie you gotta try their food!

David B.

Yelp
Great food every time we have been there. Exploration menu with some unique takes. Love their shashito pepper and Brussel sprout appetizers. All of the sushi that we have tried have been truly unique and above pat. Service has always been very attentive, and it is great that they stay open a little later than other restaurants!

Yelp
It had been a minute since we'd ventured here and I am so glad we did! My hubby and I were on the hunt for a quick but good meal before catching some sports event. We got in early, around 5pm, and were seated immediately. The place has had some nice renovations lately and it is quite charming inside. You're greeted cheerfully at the door and view to the nice bar area and main dining. The place is small so definitely come early if you can and take advantage of their HH specials! We started with the KFD (fried duck wings) which are always a must. Four crispy duck wings in a delicious sweet and spicy sauce. They're messy but worth it - and if you don't want to get your fingers sticky, use the fork and get a knife. Very tasty! For entrees, my hubby got the pork belly bowl with a fried egg and I got the Cowabunga roll and an avocado maki roll. Everything arrived quickly. My hubby's pork belly were perfectly seared on both sides, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside over a bed of yakisoba noodles with lots of veggies and that fried egg with a creamy center. The Cowbunga specialty roll was beautifully excecuted. Stuffed with tempura shrimp, topped with seared filet mignon and artfully covered with a chimichurri and some other delicious sauce. I LOVED it -and normally do not care for cream cheese in my rolls. The avocado maki roll was simple and yummy, avocado wrapped in rice and the external seaweed wrap. We will be adding this into the rotation for sure! I can't wait to explore more items on their fusion menu. It just works so try it! Go there. Get some. Life is too short for boring food!

Yelp
I should be ashamed of myself...Komodo Loco is one of my favorite restaurants in Denton, and I have apparently forgotten to write a review after the multiple times I've been here! The vibe is fantastic. The music is always great and played at the perfect volume. Much of decor is Asian inspired and eclectic. Some of the tables are a tad too close for my liking, but it's never been a real issue. An ideal place for a first date! The service is always fast; I love the servers aren't required to wear a uniform and can show their personalities through their outfit. My consistent go-to here are the pulled pork totchos. If you get anything from here, get those! The shrimp tempura batter is perfectly light with a crunch. The pan seared pork gyoza is another go to of mine- whenever my mom visits we always get a handful of small plates to share. Not pictured that'd I've had before and loved are the KFD Wings. Just the right amount of heat with meaty wings! I tried the beef fajita roll for the first time last night, and that's definitely something I'll be getting again. DELISH!! The food here is obviously crafted with fresh ingredients and by someone with a fine tuned palate. Komodo Loco is a must try in Denton!

Yelp
I had a great time with my friend at Komodo Loco. The interior felt like something you might see in Austin or Colorado- moody lighting with cool artwork. First things first, I was hoping that we would sit in the front area of the restaurant where things were happening but we were sat in a back room down tue hallway which you couldn't even tell existed. It was super dark and not as appealing as the front of store which was a bummer. I could've said something but it ended up okay in the end. Our waitress was good about checking up on us so we appreciated that. Let's talk about food and drink. For the cocktail, I got the berry drink at first which was gin and blackberries and blueberries I believe. I wasn't a huge fan, but I was able to switch it out with the Japanese whiskey drink which was a whole lot better- 6.5/10 The food was overall delicious. - I got the slammin sake roll which was me and my friends favorite- a spicy salmon roll that had just the right amount of kick to it- 9/10 - I also got sashimi with mango- it was not bad; fresh but definitely not as tasty, complex or worth it to me compared to the previous roll- 6/10 - Finally I got the tuna maki since I was still hungry. It was probably the worst roll of the bunch. It was the cheapest and the seaweed was chewy and hard to bite through. - My friend got a specialty featured roll that had mango in it (I forget the name) but it was delish. 7.5/10. The kicker to all this was that I asked for sauces and was not told ahead of time that I would be charged for it. Again I didn't say anything at the time because it was only 25 cents per sauce but just the fact that I was told beforehand was not great. They should tell guests if something is extra- I've never been charged for extra sauce on the side at any other restaurant ever. Overall a good experience with a few tweaks this could be 5 stars for me- maybe I would give it another try in the future

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Komodo Loco, and I must say, it was an experience worth raving about. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service, setting the tone for an unforgettable meal. One of the first things that caught my attention was the extensive menu, offering a wide variety of options to choose from. Whether you're a meat lover, vegetarian, or somewhere in between, there's something on the menu to satisfy every craving. The diverse selection made it difficult to decide so picked a few different items. When the food arrived, it exceeded all expectations. Each dish was a work of art, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The attention to detail and quality of ingredients were evident in every bite, leaving me craving more with each mouthful. Not only was the food exceptional, but the portion sizes were also generous, ensuring that no one leaves the table hungry. And the best part? The prices were incredibly reasonable, making it accessible to all without compromising on quality. But what truly sets Komodo Loco, apart is the atmosphere. The vibe is relaxed yet vibrant, making it the perfect place to unwind with friends or enjoy a romantic dinner for two. The ambiance, combined with the outstanding food and top-notch service, creates an experience that is truly unforgettable. Overall, my experience at Komodo Loco was nothing short of spectacular. From the menu to the exceptional food, generous portions, reasonable prices, and inviting atmosphere, it's safe to say that this place has earned a permanent spot on my list of favorite eateries. I can't wait to return and explore more of what they have to offer. Only thing I didn't do was check for vegetarian options sorry .

Yelp
We are cocktail enthusiasts and have found our new spot anytime we are near Denton. The food here is also really great. The staff here makes this place extra special :) if you like well executed, balanced, and imaginative food & drink COME HERE. Also really cute atmosphere :) I cannot overstate this enough, some of the BEST cocktails I have ever had. P.S. The sauce that came with the Gyoza was also stellar and really showed me how much this place knows what they are doing. What a gem.

Palka M.

Yelp
I have passed by this place soooo many times since I cheer my husband on for the Denton running club that starts and ends right across from Komodo Loco but never went until I was invited by a friend- biggest mistake ever. If you are contemplating this place, just go. Those dragon eggs are like crack, the sushi was phenomenal and the bao buns *chefs kiss* like this will be my go to sushi place from now on. I can't stop thinking about it lol the food comes out super quick, it was a bit dark in there but that's probably just the old lady in me haha can't wait to go back

Miranda S J.

Yelp
Everything we had here was absolutely delicious!!! Highly recommend. Fun guys, miso soup, mean green specialty roll, and loco dragon specialty roll were all incredible! And our server was super sweet and perfectly attentive.

Kathi S.

Yelp
The atmosphere was hip and casual. Our waitress was sweet, very informative, knowledgeable, attentive and efficient. Our table of 4 had a variety of different entrees. We were all very pleased and sampled each others choices.

Lea M.

Yelp
Great local spot! Stopped by here on a whim and there was plenty of seating. They have a good variety of different dishes aside from sushi! We ordered: -poke bowl with yellowtail, it was excellent -truffle hamachi, highly recommend. def my fave thing we ordered -yuzu ginger sashimi, seared albacore. it was a good fusion choice with plenty of crunch and flavor -cucumber salad, refreshing and crisp -assortment of nigiri, tuna, salmon, yellowtail, shrimp and octopus. everything was fresh and great quality The service was a bit slow and inattentive. Our server pretty much forgot about one of our sushi orders. Eventually it came out and we had to hurry because running tight on time by that point. Also, not a huge fan of the green lighting we were stuck in the back room with. Other than that, I'd still come back and give them another try soon.

Jeff M.

Yelp
I live in Flower Mound but this place is well worth drive. Very creative menu - not the same old sushi here. Strong waitstaff, very informative on what to try. Ambiance is great - especially for dates. Very cool location too.

Lita R.

Yelp
Love this place. Never disappoints. Have been a few times now while visiting my daughter from Virginia. Love the rustic decor. Awesome wall art. Service is always great. I tend to get cosmos but I'm not too crazy about theirs. How good the food is far outweighs this minor drawback. LOVE the pulled pork tachos. Get them every time. Most of the time I just get multiple appetizers. Gyozo perfectly seared and flavorful. Fried shrimp tempura has a nice light batter so you can appreciate the shrimp. Pork belly bao is yummy. Meat so tender. Not too fatty. Slaw adds a nice crunch. Will return here every time I visit. Prices good too Walking through kitchen to get to the bathroom is kinda weird though!

Yelp
Found this place through Yelp, and it was such a pleasant surprise. Absolute fusion! While there is no parking in front of the restaurant, there is a parking lot less than a block away! A short walk down the street, and it's tucked away on the side! We were greeted at the door, and quickly seated! The restaurant is broken into several rooms. Some were more quiet and reserved for more intimate parties, and other's were larger to accommodate larger parties! While we skipped the cocktails, they had an extensive menu I will be back to check out! We made a tapas meal, and ordered almost entirely from the appetizer menu! The egg rolls were yummy, and properly cooked. We got the 3 for $14 Bao, and got the fried chicken, pulled pork and smoked tofu! While I expected the tofu or pork to be the winner, we both went crazy for the fried chicken!! We also ordered the Totchos... yep, nacho's on tator tots! We went for the Killa Kimchi, which was great. We then finished with the Philly Who? roll. It was a sweet spin on a traditional Philadelphia Roll. Everyone was very nice, and the food was excellent! 5 STARS and we will be back!

DJ R.

Yelp
Food quality has gone downhill. Additionally, the new seating arrangement reminds me of Panda Express. No good seating for (5). Hostess at front with purple hair is kind of rude. They need to roll this place back a few years when the food was quality and it was more of an experience. And, a lot of flies throughout.

Nguyễn Q.

Yelp
This will forever be my favorite sushi place in Denton. Our waitress was nice and the ambience is suitable for a nice chitchat or catch up. The food is above amazing: well seasoned and beautiful. We got the Komodo Towel with salmon, 3 pork belly baos, Bulgogi Fried Rice with Korean bbq sauce, and a Slammin' Sake. Except for the fried rice, everything was sooooo good, especially the Komodo Towel!!! I think the fried rice doesn't worth the price because the portion was small and there wasn't anything special about it. I highly recommend!

Timothy E.

Yelp
The beef tataki was very good but the bayou tower was good and filling! Service was attentive and friendly.

Tina T.

Yelp
Love this joint in downtown Denton, food was great! I came in during happy hour after a tiresome day and this best place lifted my spirits :) Thanks for being open Komodo Loco

Mark K.

Yelp
All good there. The food was delicious and the service was great. Tables were clean and it was well decorated.

Karina C.

Yelp
Food was amazing!! Great wine selection. It was very busy so I sat at the bar. A bit pricey. It was $100 for me to eat there. I had a couple glasses of wine, great appetizer, sushi roll. And I think some edamame. I will return but once in a while. Other great sushi places for much cheaper. But I'm glad I checked it out.

paul t.

Yelp
Best sushi in Denton County! Drinks are quality, food isn't fast food it's real sushi.

TSJ P.

Yelp
Outstanding service, delicious food and great ambiance! Our new favorite spot for sushi!! Love the location of this restaurant and the vibe is on point! Our server was so delightful and fun we loved her! The food was AMAZING and we already booked our next date night reservation!

Mary A.

Yelp
Food was great! Poke and bao buns!!! The service was good. Best place for an early Monday dinner.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Delicious local sushi in Denton. We got a variety of appetizers and they were all delicious. I got the Slammin Sake and it was delicious. I would come come back.

Kelsey S.

Yelp
The food was amazing!!! I especially loved the Loco Dragon specialty roll and the Pulled Piggy tots. So many flavors! I can't wait to go back. The service was also wonderful.

Don R.

Yelp
Don't be deceived by the humble exterior, or the casual atmosphere, this restaurant is a gem! With their special "Asian food with a Latin flare", Komodo Loco offers full flavors that surpass most of their peers. If you're starting with an appetizer, you'll find it difficult to choose just one - and I couldn't, so we had the Loco Eggrolls and the Dragon Eggs. Both are delicious, and while I enjoyed the Eggrolls, the Eggs have such a great combination of flavors, I could eat a whole tray of them! The entrees were definitely the stars of the meal, as my family selected Yo's Poke Tostadas, the Bayou Tower, and a build-your-own Poke Bowl which was gluten-free. I had to go with a special, which I'm told is soon to be added to the regular menu - a Fried Noodle Bowl topped with your choice of proteins. Again, I couldn't choose just one, so I selected the Steak and Pork Belly. Both meats were outstanding, but I have to give the winning nod to the steak. It was tender, flavorful, juicy with a rich grilled taste. I couldn't go back and not get this again! For dessert, 3 of us chose the Joy Macaron Ice Cream Sando (this of a Oreo Ice Cream Sandwich in size, but the cookie is macaron, and they have four flavors to choose from), a very satisfying finish, and our 4th ordered the Tempura Sopapilla Cheesecake. This is everything it sounds like. It's New York-Mexican-Asian and the Texas State Fair together on your plate. If you're a fan of any of those things, this is a must! Topping the delicious food, the service was excellent. Friendly and attentive, but not intrusive. Overall, a great place for dinner not far from the square in Denton.

Haylee S.

Yelp
I never knew this place existed - very hidden and close to UNT campus! The atmosphere was really cool and decorated with some neon signs and servers were all friendly. The menu is pretty big too and there's a large variety of options to choose from including Ramen, Sushi, Bao, Rice Bowls, etc. I got the Komodo Style Ramen which is a shoyu broth with chasu pork belly, kimchi, corn, & more. It didn't taste like typical authentic ramen and was a little too salty for my liking however - probably won't be getting the ramen here again. I also tried the Edamame appetizer & a Salmon Poke Bowl which was good. Everything was a little pricy (coming from a college student) - ramen $13 and poke $17. Overall, a pretty cool interior with average food (+ they serve drinks) if you're looking for something new to try.

John F.

Yelp
Celebrating a friend's birthday today as a party of 5 at Komodo Loco. Consistently great food and service to match. A go-to place when excellence is the desired outcome.

Samm K.

Yelp
Denton always seems to be lacking for good Asian food, but THIS place is amazing. It is at least in part an "Asian fusion" restaurant, but the ramen and sushi are always fantastic quality. The dishes with Mexican influence have been delicious so far too!! I would go here every week if my wallet would let me- and while it is somewhat pricey you definitely get your moneys worth. I usually get to-go orders, but when I dine-in the staff has been amazing too.

Claire S.

Yelp
Yummy food! Love the rolls and the Yaki! The service is always quick and friendly. The restaurant is clean and menu is good.

Shea S.

Yelp
Some of the best sushi I've ever had, and I'm an avid sushi enthusiast. Totally recommend for anyone who loves sushi or Asian food!

Tip T.

Yelp
During my first visit to this spot, it pleasantly surpassed my expectations. The flavors of the food were vibrant and offered at a reasonable price with generous portions. The ambiance was relaxed, complementing the Asian-fusion cuisine served. The service was excellent, with welcoming smiles and gracious hospitality. Notably, Chase, the bartender, was both friendly and candid about the establishment.

Danielle O.

Yelp
Super fun atmosphere, food was delicious and fresh, drinks were fun and unique. Great intimate environment for a date.

Michael S.

Yelp
Was down in Denton With a friend and saw this place in the Google search results and decided to give it a shot as the menu looked interesting, we weren't there for a big meal but we tried a couple of things. We had the Pork gyoza and 2 bao buns one with fried chicken and the other with pork belly, both were delicious and the gyoza was very good as well especially the side sauce which I still don't know what was in it but it was a little bit spicy and very tasty . They had several interesting items on the menu including some unique ramen that I would like to try if I get an opportunity to come back, so if you're in the area and looking for some good solid Asian fusion food don't hesitate to stop by and try this place!

Doug M.

Yelp
Komodo Loco exceeded my expectations this place was amazing. This is a Asian fusion spot with some amazing options that will fit any appetite. I got Horatio's Bayou and it was made to perfection. The service was on point our server was very busy but you couldn't tell. I would suggest making a reservation especially on the weekend. Don't pass on Komodo Loco it was some of the best sushi I've ever had.

Krista W.

Yelp
Great food. Always quick. They can be slow at busier times but the staff more than makes up for it.

Zack H.

Yelp
Okay, fine! I kind of like this place despite going into it very skeptically. I got the Southern Smoke ramen and an old fashion. The food itself was awesome! I don't like the idea of fusion, but what do I know. It turns out I was so wrong. A lesson to us all is to try new things. The vibe from the outside becomes more inviting as the sun sets. The only reason this place doesn't get five stars is because of the seating. We met another couple with their kid and were sat at an L shaped booth. This isn't great geometry for visiting. In addition the tables were too tall for the seating. Maybe some people want their food right by their head for ease of slurp, but it's a bit awkward. Be adventurous, give Komodo Loco a try.

Mike E.

Yelp
Food: 5/5 Komodo is a MUST for good Asian fusion dining in Denton. Great rolls and the kimchi tots are killer!! Service: 5/5 Always stellar service here and the staff offers great recommendations. Environment: 5/5 Very clean and cozy. Right across from Oakstreet Drafthouse.

Edgar S.

Yelp
Great location and the service was quick. I made a reservation and they honored the time to the exact minute I scheduled it. The food was delicious, I ordered the Slammin' Sake roll. It was delicious and worth the price. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Denton.

Marla C.

Yelp
Food is always great!! Fun music playing and nice staff! I recommend this place to anyone visiting Denton or making it your local favorite. I like the Tex mex flair on things!! Ask for Christia, she is the best waitress and very attentive!

Alex K.

Yelp
After having moved to the area and looking for a cool place to eat, we've stumbled across this hidden gem. Boy, it doesn't disappoint. In the meantime we've had endless business dinners here as well as dinners with friends. The cocktail menu gets changed every so often, so I'll always find something new to try. The food is awesome. Atmosphere is quirky and I love it and the service is prompt and the staff friendly.

Aryn S.

Yelp
Service was incredibly slow, although our server was very nice. We ordered an appetizer that took so long to come out that we ended up ordered edamame thinking that would come out faster. It didn't... it came after our main dish arrived, so it was sorta pointless. We even asked for it to come right away because I'm pregnant and was not feeling well. As for the food, it was good but was very small and average for the price

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
Oh my! I didn't know what I expected, but it definitely surprised me. DEEEELISH!!!!

C C.

Yelp
It was delicious and well priced. Didn't think we'd come home with leftovers, but I'm glad we did. I can understand why it's so popular in Denton. You will not regret trying this place out. Just a heads up; it's not that big of a restaurant, so book ahead if you plan on eating there at rush time. It can also get pretty loud.

Josh Y.

Yelp
Went on a Friday night there was a wait so we popped over to oak street for a quick beer and got a text when our table was ready. The servers were all very friendly and helpful we got a few of the recommendations the mean green roll and two spicy tuna rolls. The sushi was fresh and very tasty. We washed it all down with a couple hot sakes and had a great time. I would recommend Komodo to anyone looking for sushi near the square.

Addi H.

Yelp
This quaint little restaurant is packed with flavor, fun, and great service! Although their menu is on the smaller side, they offer a variety of unique sushi combinations, mouthwatering ramen dishes, and amazing fried rice options! What a great way to celebrate a birthday!

Jeff S.

Yelp
Really used to love this place, but last visit, and I mean last visit. The staff was rude after we waited an hour to be sat and the food was bland. Never going back.

Elizabeth N.

Yelp
This is our go to spot for date night - or really any night. The food is delicious, the restaurant vibe is fun - it's an all around great place to dine! We love the tuna cones, the totchos, the noodles and ramen, and the Komodo tower. It's the best!

Laura M.

Yelp
Stopped in here on a tour of UNT with the kiddo. Aside from parking being a bit tricky, but expected for a downtown area, the food was great. We all split a roll and had salmon and ahi Komodo towers. Definitely would go back here again.

Don C.

Yelp
Small place. Very tasty food. Love the spicy rolls Good beer selection. Bartenders are always friendly. Its got the Denton beat.
