"This vegan-friendly Japanese curry shop from Ken Ken Ramen’s Takahiro Hori serves a veg-heavy menu of dishes, many which have the gut-friendly addition of homemade sauerkraut. Items like their konomama curry — packed with greens, rice, and chicken-based sauce, can provide a nice reset for troubled stomachs; those who eschew meat can even order extra veggies with their vegan curry for a super-virtuous punch. Order online here." - Eater Staff

"Konomama, a cozy new restaurant at 4601 Geary Boulevard in the Inner Richmond, focuses on Japanese comfort food: curry. The restaurant was opened by chef Takahiro Hori, featuring a health-oriented approach with an emphasis on roasted and pickled vegetables, purple-stained white and wild black rice, and house-made edamame hummus. The curry plates offer a variety of toppings, including standard pork katsu and deep-fried seasonal vegetables. Konomama aims to provide a relaxing atmosphere and is kid- and baby-friendly." - Luke Tsai

Fantastic new Japanese curry place in the Richmond. Vegan friendly but I went in for the original chicken broth based curry with pork katsu and egg swirl. RECOMMEND this spot -- owned by a young family, Latin jazz LPs playing in the background, kid friendly.

Wanted to love this place. The plate was very colorful. I enjoyed the pickled ginger and seaweed. I wished the curry was more flavorful. I was confused by the tortilla chips. Tonkatsu was better than the chicken drumsticks. My friend enjoyed her katsudon

Wowow. Amazing curry rice with the goods and cutlet. Very hearty meal and they even gave us extra cutlet for waiting :o

Worth the price for the best Japanese curry I've had in San Francisco. Colorful, fresh, well-balanced meal. Such a good variety of textures and flavors. I got the pork katsu and potato croquette--both well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Kind staff. Tasty beer and cider.

Great curry! I really enjoyed this spot—I had been meaning to try it for a while and will definitely be back! I added the veggies and egg to their house curry. Everything was fresh and well prepared and tasty. I’ve been to Japan and it was on point!

Recently remodeled and reopened. They mostly serve curry, coffee, and beer. I ordered the original curry with pork katsu topping and an extra side dish of steamed brocolli with karashi mustard because they were out of the sweet potato fries. Overall I was pleasantly surprised at the lovely presentation and ingredients that were used. Not at all what I imagined from a traditional Japanese curry dish. Oh and it was quite delicious as well! I will definitely try this place again.
