Get to Know Nashville’s Deb Paquette, Chef and Owner of Etch | Eater Nashville

"For me, Korea House is pure nostalgia — I have been going there B.C. (before children) and took our kids there as soon as they could handle a spoon to encourage foods from all cultures. Jennifer, our longtime waitress, watched our babies grow up; their cold cucumber soup in the summer and their japchae are standouts (I once commented on the japchae and the owner exclaimed that they were selling too much of it)." - Arnold Myint

We ordered a variety of dishes, and every single one was excellent. The bibimbap and stew, in particular, were generously portioned with plenty of fresh ingredients and perfectly seasoned. Just like in a Korean restaurant, they served ten different side dishes, and you could even get one free refill. Highly recommended!

Google
We came here for Mother's Day lunch. The food was really good. They serve 10 side dishes! This is the first time I see that many side dishes. The people who work there are very nice and accommodating. We really liked the place. Planning to come back.

Google
Great service and food! The portions are more than enough. The staff were kind and attentive. The food also came out fast. I had beef galbi, pork galbi and seafood tofu soup. It had the fire grilled flavour in the meat which is hard to come by these days. They also had good variety selection of side dishes (banchan). Plenty of seating for large groups as well. Would definitely come by again!

Being from Hawaii and having visited South Korea many times, I am very picky about my Korean BBQ. This place is by far, the best one in the SF Bay Area. Kalbi is charged perfectly and served on a sizzling cast iron platter. Veggie pancake is perfectly cooked. Beef tofu soup is flavorful and delicious. What no other restaurant can match is the free japchae and variety of banchan (side dishes). Kimchi cucumber, spicy tiny fish, spinach and traditional kimchi cabbage are all awesome.

Google
We ordered the Kalbi and the chicken Bibimbap — both were excellent. The rice at the bottom of the Bibimbap was perfectly crispy, adding great texture. Banchan side dishes are the Best!!!! Flavors were well-balanced and not overly spicy, which we appreciated. The service was also fantastic — the staff checked on us regularly and made us feel really welcome. The only downside was the restroom; it could definitely use some attention in terms of cleanliness. Otherwise, a great dining experience overall!

Google
This restaurant is absolutely fantastic! Even when compared to the food I’ve had in Korea, it’s outstanding. My friends, who aren’t Korean, also enjoyed the meal very much. If you’re looking to explore a variety of authentic Korean dishes, I highly recommend this place!

Google
I can't believe I haven't done a review for this spot. I have been coming here for ~20 years, through several ownership changes. The quality of the food is always excellent. The portion sizes have changed, some bigger, some smaller, but nothing that would make you upset. The banchan is always fresh and delicious with the staples and some changes here and there throughout the year. We use to come almost every week, until we moved, but we still come to get yummy Korean food. This spot is still my favorite! Get the mul nagmeon, it's the best in the Bay Area!

Google
We ordered here seafood fried rice and dduk bok gi. They were good. The banchan were superb. There were lot of side dishes. Among them I specially loved glass noodles which was good by itself and tasted even more better when I mixed it with the dduk bok gi's sauce. Their service was very good, it's not like other Korean restaurants. They were very friendly.

Yelp
One of my favorite Korean places in Concord. I love the NON trendy aura of the place and great customer service. I used to come here with my little toddler and was always greeted with understanding. I now come about once a week after grocery shopping. Prices are reasonable, about ($25-$30 pp) Love all the dishes I tried so far but I love their side dishes the most and always order their short ribs.
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of my favorite Korean spots. It is not AYCE but the quality of food speaks for itself. They have the best banchan in my opinion! They do have their Korean bbq options, marinated raw crabs, and more! Try their japchae, the best I have ever tried.

Yelp
My friend and I are on the hunt to find great Korean food out here! I moved to this area from Oakland, so I have a high bar and this place met it! Things we ordered: *Kimchi mandu (steamed) - neither of us particularly loved these. That said, my biggest qualm was that they were a bit oversized and fell apart. But also, I'm guessing part of this is just my own preferences. *Sweet and spicy wings - these were delicious! No notes. *Small spicy bulgogi - I really appreciate that they have different portion sizes so we could try more things. But more importantly, the bulgogi was delicious! *Tofu soup - I didn't have this, but my friend loved it! One more thing that I want to highlight was the banchan. They brought out so many, so I loved the variety, and they were all delicious! They were also very quick to offer and replenish our favorites. This is definitely my favorite Korean place in the area. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
Craving the dolsot crispy rice, so we ordered the dolsot bibimbap and the steamed mandu dumplings. The banchan were a bit unique, which was a pleasant surprise. The dolsot bibimbap was fantastic - a great selection of ingredients and a nice crispy layer of rice. The dumplings were tasty, with an outer dumpling wrapper that held up and contained lots of pork. Overall, a solid meal.

Yelp
Plenty of seating when I arrived at noon and took in the smell of bbq meats. Yummy! While waiting for my friend to arrive I had time to review the lunch and regular menu. Easy choice for me to go with the chicken and galbi bento and when friend arrived he was hoping for the cold noodle dish which they had! We were served a nice selection of bahn chan and our food came pretty quickly. So much food that I took some of the flavor filled chicken and tender galbi home. My friend couldn't stop talking about his dish which is served with ice and side bottles of a vinegar and mustard sauce. Please give this place a try! Plenty of shopping center parking, very clean space and good service. I'll be back!

Yelp
Came in on a Sunday around 12 and was seated right away. We ordered C3 which was a sharing table option for 2-3. It came with two meat options, soup, and the banchan. Everything came out fresh and quick. The soup was just enough and hit the spot for cold weather. Galbi was tender and had good flavor. The spicy pork was my favorite out of everything. Overall a nice cozy mom and pop shop. I would love to try their lunch combos the next time I come. Overall 10/10 for me
google avatar

Yelp
Korea House has a new menu! Lots of new items that I'm excited to try - rose tteokbokki, seollongtang, jjangmyeon, & raw marinated crabs. They now also have combos that are a pretty good deal for meats, soup, and some other side dishes. Go to dishes are the kimchi stew, galbisal, japchae.

Yelp
We went for lunch and there were lunch specials as well as regular entrees. We split a kalbi and chicken bulgogi dishes. There were 12 banchan dishes - my favorite was the potato. The seaweed wafers were surprising. We also got one bowl of steaming rice each. The service was efficient- we got our banchan dishes first, followed shortly by our bowls of rice, and then the sizzling entrees. In terms of quantity of food, it was just enough - the two of us finished almost all of the food. If we were to come back, we will try the lunch special. The place was well-lit and welcoming.

Yelp
I like coming here for their lunch menu. Their lunch gal bi comes with six pieces. Their banchan is always yummy and I appreciate the complimentary refills. Last time we were here for lunch, they included a soup which I expected again this time around but when we didn't get any, I asked if they still offered it and the lady said not during the summer months. I later realized looking at other tables, they got jab chae for their table. Wish I knew that before because we ended up ordering the lunch jab chae that cost $16.95 while everyone else got it as a banchan dish. Will keep that in mind next time we come back for lunch.

Yelp
Fantastic lunch special of bento box 2. Very very tasty and great spicy flavor , on the pork and bulgogi was just perfect. First time for lunch. Been here for dinner. Lunch specialist way to go to try this Korean food out!

Matt H.

Yelp
Ordered doordash from this restaurant. Driver waited almost an hour and the food hadn't been made. We tried to call the restaurant to inquire but we're quickly hung up on. The food was tasty the first few times we ordered from there, but after their service this last time we'll not be ordering from them again.

Yelp
So happy to have stumbled upon this Korean spot in Concord. The inside ambience feels cozy and homely, yet implements quality of life features such as a button to call the server over for the bill. The food was beyond delicious. I got the bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) and galbi (bbq short ribs). The bibim naengmyeon had the perfect amount of sauce/broth. The noodles were much easier to chew and swallow compared to other places. The galbi was cooked nicely with flavorful meat and charred edges. I'd definitely get these items again. The banchan also hit the spot. They served some sort of jelly banchan which I had never tried before but thought was delicious! The glaze was really good. Overall, this place offers quick service, chill ambience, and absolutely yummy comfort Korean food. You don't be disappointed!

Yelp
I usually don't eat at Korean restaurants unless it has "tofu house" in the name but I bit the bullet this time and i'm so glad I did! The service was good and friendly, everything came on time and was fresh and sizzling. 10/10 recommend and will return whenever i'm craving tofu soup. The restaurant was really clean and intimate, perfect for a small family gathering or date night!

Kim W.

Yelp
Food is great and service is very good. All the tables were occupied but they still checked on us multiple times and brought our food out at a reasonable pace. The combo meant for 2-3 people was exactly enough food for 3 people without any leftovers. Would go back.
google avatar

Beatriz S.

Yelp
The food was good. Especially the pork dumplings. The service was very technical and not warm nor friendly. The place is clean and decent. Nothing real special here.

Yelp
I've been to three Korean restaurants in the Concord area & I would rank this Korean restaurant number one as my favorite out of all of them. Definitely recommend going here with friends or even on a solo food adventure. Me and my friend went here on a whim and decided to try this restaurant. The interior is very clean and the staff is tentative. Additionally, at each table there is a button if you need additional assistance/request. The hostess was amazing as she ask if we wanted any refill of banchans. All the Banchans were really good! The fishcake & cucumber was my favorite! Short ribs 5/5 The short ribs were amazing! The short ribs perfectly charred and the ribs are thicker from other short ribs places I have tried. Each bite had me savoring for more. Dolsot Bimimbap 5/5 The first impression of this dish was that the portion size was really huge! I was only able to finish half of it at the restaurant & I took the rest to-go. The dish was really good! I really like the crispy rice & the amount of fresh vegetables in the dish.

Yelp
Been a few years since I came here, was in the area and craving for some Korean lunch. Noticed they got new menu. Parking was alright, this plaza does get busy during lunch time. We got seated right away, waitress are friendly and show us the menu. We ordered the set lunch with soup and bulgogi for 2-3 portion. Price is alright. Side dishes were very delicious and great varieties. Lunch portion is not bad, it fed me and my buddy well! This place never disappoints me, I will definitely come more often!

Grace R.

Yelp
Firstly, very comfy. Very homey. The service itself was also very good, the lady was very sweet about everything and made sure we had everything. What im writing this review about was the FOOD. These are the type of restaurants where I love everything given, it's bang for your buck and dare I say there's not enough people going? Everything was worth it. The taste is indescribable , even the complimentary side dishes were addicting.
google avatar

Yelp
This was a staple for my Korean food cravings for awhile. I even celebrated my birthday here. Thank you for being a pioneer... with that said, the service didn't hold up for me. The only memories I have now was how rushed the service was

Yelp
7/6/24 Preface. I don't like noise pollution. So its 4TH of July weekend, 12:30 PM, a hundred degrees in the shade and one of our neighbors has a damn Mariachi band in their back yard. The nonsense floods every room in our place. Me: Hey Wife. Let's check out to that Korean place in Concord we've been walking past and skip this noise? Wife : OK Now Spoon in Berkeley was our go-to for Korean but they made a menu change that left us hanging, so we have parted ways. (cabbage swapped out for lettuce). We are seated promptly and order BBQ short ribs and a coke. The food and presentation is perfect. Sizzling and many tasty extras to enjoy with our ribs. The servers are friendly and responsive. Smiling and attentive. The ribs were so delicious that we worked up more appetite. They disappeared quickly so we ordered tofu mushroom soup. The soup came out quickly and boiling hot. Ample mushrooms of different varieties and more little dishes of condiments to replenish our empty bowls. . We even a surprise in the soup. Some children started up with the noise pollution but the food was so enjoyable that I almost didn't care. (almost didn't) We just finished our soup and are signing the bill when a loud racket attacks us from outside the restaurant, What da ell is that? I ask myself. A yahoo wannabe macho man in a hopped up pickup truck trying to impress who knows who? We exit and there's the racket source. The Mexican place next door planted a mariachi band on their sidewalk. My wive jokes that they followed me there. smh

Yelp
I love coming here to dine. This is the best Korean restaurant in Concord/Pleasant Hill area. I am a regular customer. The servers recognize me and always give me great service. In turn, I always give them minimum of 20%-25% tip! :) If you go during dinner or order dinner entree during lunch, you will receive the dinner banchan which offers more delishes side dishes... seaweed paper, anchovies, etc. YUM! Some of my favorite entrees are: * Short Ribs, extra grilled * Spicy Pork or Chicken * Mackerel * Spicy Tofu with Beef Soup * Kimchee Fried Rice All 5-Stars and 2-thumbs up!
google avatar

Yelp
I can't speak highly enough of this homestyle, neighborhood Korean establishment. Like many others, my go to for Korean is 'Spoon,' in Berkeley, but it's too far to ride out to on the regular. Enter Korea House! The flavors are delightful, service is fast, and it is possible to eat bountifully as a mostly vegetarian eater here. The Bachan (sides), and Japchae are supreme and come complimentary with your order, and the seafood-miso-tofu stew is to die for (I requested no beef). I see others ordering heaping hot plates of bulgogi and it looks and smells fantastic. Like stepping into the Korean mother you never knew you had's kitchen, Korea House is just that, a no pretense, no frills extension of a loving home with an invitation, just for you, to come and refill, recharge, and delight in some of the most authentic Korean flavors in the 925 area.

Yelp
Great tasting seafood kalguksu. They were fast and attentive. The place is clean and simple.

Yelp
15 years later this place is still awesome. Keep up the good work. Love the stone plates and all the side dishes and the great service!

Yelp
Went back their food was great services was awesome friendly, only still to with clear plastic #6ps containers, So I bring my own containers to bring left over. Yes, I still recommended this Korean restaurant.

Yelp
As someone that comes from the SF/Peninsula area where there was more access to good Korean food, it's hard to find any good Korean food out here in Concord that can live up to what I'm used to. Korea House definitely lives up to it though. I finally found a good Korean restaurant out in Concord. Like you know it's good when they're playing K-pop on the speakers and the servers are quick and friendly. They provide ample ban chan and even have jap chae as part of the ban chan which is great. For food, my wife and I ordered 3 dishes, let's see if they're a boom or doom: 1. Seafood Pancake: BOOM! Haven't had a good seafood pancake like this in so long. Texture is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with ample amounts of seafood and filling. 2. Stone Bibimbap: B-B-Boom! The beef had a lot of flavor and the veggies were very fresh. I prefer to mix everything right up within the stone pot to avoid having crispy rice on the bottom but if you're a fan of crispy rice, avoid stirring the rice on the bottom of the pot so you can have your nice crispy treat lol. 3. Mackerel: B-B-B-BOOM! The mackerel was huge! I haven't seen grilled mackerel served at such a large size before, especially for the price as well so you get a pretty good deal out of this. I can see why people love ordering this. Honestly no notes, if you haven't tried mackerel before, try it from Korea House. They make it perfectly here. Overall for the price of the food, you get such large portions and will definitely end up with leftovers. All of the food was so good and we will be definitely coming back!

Giveno F.

Yelp
If you want clean, homemade Korean food this is the place. Great service too. We come back regularly.
google avatar

Debbie G.

Yelp
Ordered thru DoorDash tonight. Food arrived beautifully packaged. The dol sat and bibimbap both came in cardboard containers with plastic lids. The banchan was neatly packaged in sealed trays.

Winter M.

Yelp
We've been coming to Korea House for more than ten years now, and we can say with confidence that despite all the new Korean restaurants that have opened up in the area, Korea House still remains our number one favorite. The food is extremely delicious and is served in generous portions. They give plenty of banchan, typically consisting 10 unique dishes (along with a small plate of complementary japchae if you didn't order it separately) for a party of 3-4, and they're infinitely refillable! The food tastes authentic and is very consistent, retaining the iconic Korean flavors without giving into the typical "trendy-ness" that Korean food and culture has been held in recently. The main dishes are rich and hearty, with the fresh side dishes helping to cut through the richness, so you can eat more! The restaurant itself is also very nice, always clean with a well maintained seating and decor. There's typically a soft music playing in the background, both of the western and Korean genres. The waiters are always friendly and polite, and we've never had a bad experience with service here. Our family's typical orders include the Spicy Pork Bulgolgi, Galbi, Seafood Tofu Soup, Beef Naengmyun, and Seafood Bibimbap. The new addition of jjajangmyun to the menu has also started to become one of our favorites, which consists of a a blackbean sauce that has a surprisingly light and flavorful umami taste to it, paired with deliciously chewy noodles that you can't stop slurping up! Overall, highly recommended Korean place if you want to experience authentic Korean flavors in Concord.
google avatar

Ruth B.

Yelp
Finally made it here for some solid Korean food. My daughter and I had the jap chae and bibimbap both with beef. Everything was super flavorful and the beef was tender. We also had the seafood pancake which was delicious. Service was fast and super nice. Can't wait to try again!

Yelp
Best Mul Naeng Myun I've ever had!!! Came here as a party of two on a weekend at lunchtime and there was no wait. This is one of my favorite Korean restaurants because there are so many side dishes and it is very authentic. We ordered Mul Naeng Myun and Bi Bim Bap this time. * Mul Naeng Myun 100/5: So yummy on a hot day it has the perfect flavor and just the right amount of food. I wish the egg was whole though haha. But they bring vinegar and mustard on the side to add to your liking. There is radish and meat in the broth as well. Perfect summer dish and better flavors compared to other restaurants I have tried. * Bi Bim Bap 4.5/5: Yum yum!! Very tasty, but I felt like it was a bit on the wet side. It was delicious, but nothing about stood out to me. * Side Dishes 5/5: So fire and they give you a lot. It could be a whole other meal by the amount they give you. Service: Amazing!!! I had to pack my Mul Naeng Myun to go and was struggling to transfer the broth with a small spoon. Without asking, a server brought me a ladle. :') Restaurant is also very clean! The bathroom is a little warm tho lol (because it is in the back) They take cash and credit :-) I will be back for the cold noodles!!

Putri K.

Yelp
This is one of my fav Korean restaurants ever! The banchan (side dishes) they serve with the meal are TOP tier and can taste the quality of the ingredients being used! It truly taste like homemade! I've tried couple other things on the menu, and their jjigae is my favorite, any toppings, they are all really good and nourishing! Took my sister here for the first time and we demolished everything down to the last bit of the banchan haha The ladies are the sweetest and kind- very welcoming and enjoyable environment!

Yelp
Unsanitary, the waiter dropped our kids food on the floor. The waiter picked the food up off the floor and went behind the counter. He quickly put the food back together and he tried to serve it back to us. I told him that I saw him pick the food up off the floor. He said no he didn't but he will give us a new one. I watched the waiter go to the back where they were supposedly cooking my kids new food. But the photo shows that they gave us the same dirty food off the floor. It had hair in it. After telling them this they just left it on our table and didn't even remove it. This place is not clean.
google avatar

Sonia H.

Yelp
It's one of the best Korean restaurants I've been to with 11 side dishes including stir fried glass noodles!! Service is great. The place got busy but we always got our water filled and always being asked if we need anything else. It was so good that I didn't take all the pictures. The seafood pancake is the best one I've ever had. I know it's the best because it's still so tasty when it gets cold. Combo tofu soup has so much beef and seafood inside. The server would even crack the egg for us in the soup. (Other restaurant would leave the egg on the table and we do it on our own) Beef rib is very tasty. It's a pleasant surprise randomly finding this place. Can't wait to go back again!

Yelp
I've been to many Korean restaurants in the Bay Area, but since I live close to Milpitas, I've found that my favorite ones tend to be based in that area. Korea house was all right for me. Nothing offensive, but nothing remarkable, either. Their tofu soup with added dumplings was passable for me. Seafood pancake was also ok for me as well. Friend's Bibimbap looked good. I left full and happy. Meanwhile, off to other Korean places throughout the East Bay I go...
google avatar

Ciandra O.

Yelp
Yea this place is legit. Mushroom soondubu hit the spot and they were able to make it vegetarian friendly. On a weekday night I felt cared for like at a family member's house which is really rare to get and not expected but so lovely. So happy to have found this place and trusted the reviews!!!!
google avatar

Paulie L.

Yelp
How this place survive the pandemic I'll never know... 2 apps 1 entree -$75! Chard chicken (aka grilled chicken) $29! The chicken had 2 pieces of thigh meat at most, stuff under the take out container of cabbage. Overly priced is an understatement. I won't be coming back...

Chaewoon S.

Yelp
I'm pretty strict when it comes to Korean food ratings. Since I immigrated from Korea, I know what authentic Korean food is supposed to taste like, and my ratings reflect that experience. Korea House in Concord is by far the closest you'll get to real Korean food in the Bay Area. A lot of Korean restaurants around here tend to over-sauce and Americanize their flavors, but Korea House stays true to the original taste of Korean cuisine. I've tried a variety of dishes here--Seafood Pajeon, Spicy Galbi, Japchae, Kimmari, Bulgogi, Dolsot Bibimbap, Jang Kalguksu, and Tofu Soup--and every dish has been excellent. If you're looking to try something that true Koreans love, I'd highly recommend the Jang Kalguksu. It's a masterpiece and an absolute must-try.

Yelp
I can't express enough how much I loved dining here. I was impressed with everything I ordered. Will definitely be coming back soon.
google avatar

Yelp
Every time we come to concord and want to enjoy a family meal and eat Korean cuisine, we come HERE! Conveniently located near 99 ranch, this place has accommodating tables and chairs to manipulate no matter your party size. Their lunch menu is very reasonable and the staff is friendly and authentically Korean. Recommend: Seafood tofu soup Bimbimbop in stone pot Gal-bi Fried mackerel Quick tip: on a weekend, come on the early side cause it can get busy.
google avatar

Susan B.

Yelp
Very generous selection of ban chan. When I finished a plate of it, the waiter came by to ask if I wanted more of it. My spicy squid was chewy and tasty, and there were a lot of leftovers. The restaurant is in a strip mall, and it's humble and clean. No K-pop music or videos, just a small and busy establishment. I noticed a lot of orders being picked up to go.
google avatar

A R.

Yelp
Happy that the loud ringer button is now silent when you press for friendly waiter/waitress to come to table. Food is good. Fish cake condiment needs to have more sauce to it. Other than that will continue to return.
google avatar

Catherine M.

Yelp
We went for lunch on a Saturday. Got seated quickly. They have a list of lunch menu of specials which are a slightly smaller portion of the dinner entrees. I got the tofu soup with beef and came with banchan and a side of rice. My bf got the dol sot bibimbamp which was really good. It was a good amount of food the price along with the banchan. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back to try other things!
google avatar

Lidy W.

Yelp
The food was surprisingly good and authentic Korean style. Very spacious and plenty of parking space. Need I say more
google avatar

Casey C.

Yelp
Yummy Korean food. The dol sot bi bim bop is my all time favorite, as well as their spicy pork. They've gotten better with their service recently.

Yelp
What a pleasant find on the way back home from the Bay Area! Korea House is a well oiled machine with generous ban chan and efficient and friendly staff! Comfortable seats, clean restroom, reservation friendly. You can judge a Korean restaurant by their grilled mackerel and KH delivers! And quickly! A complimentary japchae arrived after the order was taken followed by a wide array of tasty ban chan. Kim chi, cucumbers, bean sprouts, little fishy things in spicy sauce, seaweed to name a few. I also tried the beef and tofu soup with mushrooms and boy was that awesome! The mackerel is one to return for. Hot tea to accompany the meal gives you the full experience of a Korean meal. Thank you kind ladies at KH! We will be back!!!
google avatar

Jasmine Nicole D.

Yelp
Pretty mid. Me and my girlfriend got Bi Bim Naeng Myun and it was way too vinegary and sour. Too much pickled radish or something. The ban chan was okay, some good, some bleh. I might come back and order a different entree just to give it a fair chance.
google avatar

Young B.

Yelp
Solid Korean option. Got takeout today and everything was delicious. The meat dishes were lined with cabbage, but still it's a good amount of food. The 2 men in the house could not finish their bulgogi or spicy pork. I don't usually get soondubu because I haven't found any place in the east bay that can make it very well. However, after reading my fellow Elite Yelper Harvey K, I tried the kimchi soondubu and it was very good. Almost perfect. The banchan were neatly sealed in containers (as was each of the dishes and the rice), but none of us could open any of them with our hands. We needed to use a knife, which was a bit annoying. They gave us plenty of banchan, though, and even japchae!
google avatar

Jenny C.

Yelp
Korea House is the best! It's the best Korean restaurant in the Bay Area! I love their short ribs lunch special. It's flavorful and delicious! The ladies working here are the kindest people. It's a small restaurant with limited seating.
