Tucked inside the international market, this humble counter turns out satisfying bulgogi, galbi, and hot stone bibimbap with house kimchi. Recommended in Charlotte Observer guides and celebrated by local food writers for value and authenticity.

ABSOLUTE BANGER!!! man, the food is amazing, authentic and reasonably priced. Charlotte is definitely lacking in the Korean food department overall but this place is as close to authentic as you’ll get. The restaurant is inside a grocery store with other food stalls near by so you have plenty of options. The bakery nearby is a musttttt the sesame balls were delicious!! Though I wouldn’t recommend the dim sum form the restaurant in the middle… but their banhmi were really good. TAKE MY WORD!! This food court is so much better than the one in Pineville’s super g mart.

Google
As a Korean from the West coast, I can say with utmost certainty that this is the best Korean food you can get in Charlotte. Kimchi is always fresh and has amazing flavor, perfectly balanced and has a nice kick all kimchi should have. I grew up going to hole in the wall Korean restaurants with my 할머니 and the Dduk Mandu Guk is the closest I get to being back there. Nice proportions fitting of a Korean restaurant, and trust me you will be wanting to have more despite being so full you’re ready to explode. WOULD RECOMMEND!!!

This was my first time trying the food counters inside Super G Mart (Independence Avenue). I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor and quality of the food at the aptly named Korean Restaurant. The service was very friendly and efficient. I ordered the bulgogi, which came out fresh and hot. The gochujang sauce was perfect, being more spicy than sweet. I was not a fan of the accompanying kimchi, which did not taste fresh and was relatively dry. I also was surprised at the high price ($13.99 + tax). Overall, I felt that the portion was ideal and the flavors were excellent and authentic. I would recommend to others, but don’t expect a “cheap eat.”

Google
This Korean place is inside of the Super G supermarket, they have few different types of soups and different types of kimchi, they have the pepino 🥒 one that i like the most, all fresh, I got the Soon Dubu soup it’s a type of tofu with seafood with rice super delicious ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Google
If you’ve been shopping at Super G then you probably have seen Korean Restaurant at the back of the store. Today I decided to try out the food since I was there and I’m a big fan of Korean dishes. Firstly, the menu selection is decent and they have all the main Korean favorites that you’d find at a standalone restaurant. Something to consider is that they’re dine in seating is closed so you have to take your order to go which was disappointing. I ordered the Bulgogi which is one of my favorites with a side of white rice and kimchi. The Bulgogi was decent, it had good flavor but the portion size was small considering the price of the food. I was expecting the food to be better and considering that it’s in an Asian supermarket you’d think so but again it was decent. If you’re new to Korean food and wanting a great experience then there are better options. If you happen to be in the area and really want Korean flavor then Korean Restaurant isn’t a bad option.

Google
Nasty my 3rd time giving this a try! Gosh this number 6 had sugar thrown all over the noodle it was too Sweet and the last one I had was the bulggi meat gosh it was grainy and dry! #dissapointed! I rather eat at a real Korean restaurant then the one inside a super mart! For $15 byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Big portions, tasty food. Got the dolsot bimbimbap and the yukgaejang.

Google
Great mini-restaurant inside the grocery store. Take out or eat in available. The kimchi cucumbers are awesome!

Yelp
I come here almost every other month because I love my "Budae-jjigae" which translates to Army Stew. Main ingredients are Kimchi, hot dogs, spam, and ramen noodles. Variations: Often includes tofu, rice cakes, on a spicy broth. I tell ya, it is the most bestest authentic Korean noodles you can slup on in this beautiful place called Super G Mart here in 7323 E Independence Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28227. Service is excellent and nothing fancy just affordable spot to get your Asian food crave on.

Yelp
After reading some of the Yelp reviews, I decided to have lunch here. Ordered the Jajaing Mein noodles. They give you a number and call this out, when they are ready to give you the ttray of food. 12 minutes max until the number was called. The black bean sauce was watery, lacked flavor, and the amount of pork meat was minimal. The kimchee was also average in taste and consistency. Overall this was pretty disappointing. Perhaps, I should have ordered a different dish such as bibimpap.

Yelp
It's a bit of a drive for me but I make it just to get my fix of Korean food. I usually order the bibimbap but I've also had the bulgogi. Husband enjoys the japchae noodles. Delicious fast counter food with reasonable authentic flavor. M Service is always quick. It's inside the Super G Mart so the atmosphere is a little hurried and noisy. Seating area is small but it's never been too crowded.

Yelp
If you want to grocery shop then get authentic Korean food without having to drive somewhere else this the place to go. The service was fast and they have many good korean dishes to choose from. The staff was also super nice. If you eat here, they have a place you can sit as well as a place to put your shopping cart while you eat.

Yelp
I tried the budae jilgae and it was super good! The portion was large enough that I had some to take home and eat the next day, the only down side is the seating, wish this place had its own restaurant location

Steve ..

Yelp
Great fresh food. Service was good. Very prompt. Quiet atmosphere. Many options of things to eat.

Yelp
Food and the service were excellent , everything was great. A little loud but not to bad

Yelp
Good Korean Food. The service was quick and easy. The only downside is the seating, it's located in an international store so the dining area is shared with other restaurants. It's sort of like a food court. Nonetheless, delicious.

Yelp
Stopped here recently for the first time, expecting a good, authentic bowl of beef bibim. Turns out they're only doing takeaways so it came in a flat foam box, but it came out quickly (no reason for bibim to take ages, though). Ultimately, I feel that Korean food in general doesn't translate terribly well as takeaway meals. But this was a respectable bibim although I almost choked on the chili sauce despite sprinkling barely any of it. Toppings were well seasoned and thank God for no fillers like lettuce or broccoli! I'm not sure if this meal was a great value and it left me wanting more, but I'm sure it would be better if it was possible to dine in instead. I hope they keep doing well.

Yelp
The best Korea food we've had in Charlotte was at the Super G Mart! Definitely going back. My husband and I shared the Bibimbap since we weren't that hungry and it was great! Got the daikon radishes also and loved that it came in a hot pot. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Located inside Super G Supermarket on Independence Blvd. They serve some comforting Korean foods, not too many menu items though. The taste is really mediocre and lacks flavor. The kalbi is $22, comes with a small side shredded cabbage with thousand islands dressing and a bowl of rice. It's way over priced. It only has 3 strips of thin cut short ribs. The black bean noodles is almost flavorless. Service was friendly and quick. It's food court style.
google avatar

Jake A.

Yelp
Good flavor on bulgogi and overall, loved the kimchi and pickles on the side of my friends dish. The service was quick and friendly. The portions however, were very small, especially on the bulgogi. I maybe got 2 oz of bulgogi to go along with about 10-12 oz of rice.
google avatar

Yelp
I was worried moving from Northern Virginia that I'd struggle to find authentic korean dolsot bibimbap - was happy to find it today! It was a bit pricey at first but then realized how large the portioning was and didn't feel as bad about it. I liked how they added kimchi on the side as well - not as nice as larger korean restaurants back home where they give you a plethora of banchan however given that it was a food court-style shop it was appropriate. Would love to come here again - this order was No. 11. I didn't get a drink because it was all canned so just got tea from the next store shop and it worked out! The hot stone bowl was just hot enough to give me some crunchy rice which was awesome. Looking forward to my next visit :)
google avatar

Jenita M.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Korean food again and decided to try the Bibimbap with the egg on top. Not so much into a runny egg but wanted to give it a go. The runny egg still isn't my favorite but I ate everything anyway. The bulgogi was delicious and the chili sauce wasn't hot which was nice). I love wontons and dumpling so I was interested jn a soup. They suggested Tteokguk (Dduk guk) soup which is a New Years tradition that brings longevity and prosperity. The soup was good with some extra salt added. I loved the rice cakes. Chewy fun texture. Friendly and knowledgable staff.

Yelp
During our first trip to Super G, we wanted to get lunch at the food court. Since we love Korean food, we figured we should stop here. Covid-19: it's inside the grocery store and there's no way to order online from what I can tell. It's takeout only right now. We got the Bulgogi Hotpot. Their menu shows pictures of each dish and my biggest issue is it looks nothing like what we got. I've had a lot of hotpots and what we got did not seem like a hotpot. We got a soup with beef in it. I really don't like that they put up misleading pictures on their menu. The soup was ok. The broth wasn't super flavorful. I'd be curious what other menu items are like, but I'm pretty hesitant to go back since the pictures are so far from what you actually get.

Yelp
I've been coming to this place for a while and I must admit, their food is delicious! I used to work at the honey buns cafe next door when I was a sophomore in high-school and never had an appetite for kimchi. I've tried kimchi at many local food spots, even the ones at the store just never tasted good to me. But my sister had came here and bought a portion. I used it to make some kimchi fried rice + ramen at home and I was in shock on how good it was. I never thought I'd ever crave their kimchi as much as I would have. Five stars without a doubt.

Kamie N.

Yelp
Probably some of the best Korean food ive ever had.!! Service was fast. I bet noisey but I can deal.

Yelp
I could make a Korea out of reviewing Korean places. This is a cute little underestimated undiscovered Korean gem inside the international supermarket in Charlotte, known as G-Mart, not to be confused with H-Mart or GTFO Mart. You can get your delicious Korean soups and stable dishes - I mean staple dishes, unless you're a horse - here for very competitive prices, because they don't have to pay for an actual restaurant. Very much recommended.
google avatar

Debra W.

Yelp
Is it fair to just do a review on the items I have purchased from their kimchi selection? This is what this solely on. Hands down their kimchi and other items are the best you can find in town. The kimchi is the perfect balance of flavors. While it's not super hot, it's crunchy and seasoned very well. I also enjoy their eve table kimchi's made with cucumbers, radishes, scallions and so much more. This is my preferred place to buy kimchi and often times the only my place I will but my kimchi. It's authentic and delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered 3 Bibimbap hot pots for 3 of us. Great food. Fresh meat and veggies for a reasonable price. 11.99 per hot pot. For beverages, we had a pistachio frozen blend, boba milk tea, and raspberry iced tea with boba. Yum!
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
This hole-in-the-wall restaurant is an authentic, family-owned place that focuses on the quality of ingredients to make traditional korean cuisine. Their packaged kimchi is also always fresh and I love pairing it with the dishes or even just with rice! Don't underestimate this small restaurant for being within a grocery store.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
The first time I went to the food court the Korean Restaurant was closed, I think it was a Monday but I'm not definite so check before you go there. You wouldn't want to miss it. The hot meals are really good and amply portioned. The food is delicious. The "to go" sides were tempting. The only fault, and it's more my fault than theirs, is my unfamiliarity with the dishes left me somewhat baffled as to what to try and what dishes are good to reheat at home. I definitely plan on returning and experimenting with new dishes.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that I lived in Seoul for 6 years so I know what Korean food is supposed to taste like. Perhaps this also makes me a harsh critic. Either way, after hearing so many good things about this place I was hopeful that Charlotte finally had itself a legit Korean spot ( I found Pepero just alright, though the family that runs it is WONDERFUL!). Well what a total let down. What I tried: Jaeyukbokum (spicy pork), naengmyeon ( cold buckwheat noodle soup ) and yukgyejang ("spicy" beef and veg noodle soup with egg) The verdict: Everything, with the exception of the yukgyejang, had the right flavors just not enough of them. The broth of the naengmyeon seemed watered down, and the jaeyuk wasn't spicy nor very flavorful (and this is usually my favorite korean dish). The yukgyejang didn't taste much at all like what its name would suggest. It was very brothy and not very spicy and was 90% green onions. Very strange. And everyone around me seemed to have ordered the bulgogi and it looked terribly dry and not very appetizing. What I dig: The reasonable prices (Hence the 2 stars instead of 1) The downers: Bland Korean food, only 2 side dishes and the bibimbap doesn't come with a soup ( unheard of in Korea). Also, as many other reviewers have touched on, the girl that worked at the counter seemed to hate that she was working let alone that she had to talk to anyone. Finally, Fleece and I have very similar views on this establishment however where we disagree is that I think this is a decent place to take those that have never had Korean food before. Maybe as a way to expose kids to international/spicy food. This is Korean food with training wheels.

Yelp
Visited today with my daughter and her colleagues, one of whom is from Korea (which was quite handy explaining traditions and recipes). I ordered the Golbi which was tasty and filling (loved the kimchee). A variety of entrées were ordered by our group so I was able to sample different offerings, which were well-prepared. I thought the eating area, however, was not clean for dining as tables were not scrubbed between diners--just don't look too close at the mars on the wall, and the floor that needs a mopping, as well. I also felt they're service was slow, but I'm nitpicking. Overall, a good experience. With their commitment to Korean-specific food, they have a great niche with lots of headroom for improvement.

Yelp
Amazing food! The Jap Chae and Bulgogi is #1! It's in the huge grocery shop called Super G and it's located in the corner. The little Korean family owned restaurant is a must for my Korean food cravings! If you're in the area, definitely recommend! It's so convenient, while you're waiting for the food to cook, you can grocery shop to kill time! Calling for to-go is easier if you're in a rush and don't want to wait!
google avatar

Yelp
I have never tried Korean food before I ate here. And I love trying new cultures food! It's so fun to me to try new foods every time I get the chance. This place may be a little pricey , but I thought it was definitely worth it! I spent $15 on this food in the picture! The pork wasn't too spicy to my tastebuds but I can handle spice! If you can't I recommend getting the beef equivalent which is soy sauce based and marinated. I've never had authentic kimchi and I thought it was really good! And all it is is fermented cabbage and spices. The salad was really amazing too especially if you take a bit of the salad with a piece of the meat . If you have never tried Korean food before you should definitely check it out! I enjoyed the experience in itself eating the food! It's located inside Super G Mart! Korean food is now one of my top cuisines to eat thanks to this restaurant!

Yelp
I visit Super G often but this restaurant is usually closed when I do. I was finally able to make it shortly before they closed at 7:30 PM. I ordered Jampong (Korean noodles with seafood) The order was ready in less than 10 minutes while I perused the supermarket. Upon arriving home almost an hour later, I split the soup as it was too much for me to eat at once. It was still warm. The noodles were separate from the seafood and soup, and condiments (kimchi and another I don't know the name of) were on packaged on the side. Let me say, the soup was delicious with a bit of a bite. The amount of seafood was ample. I found myself eating something that looked like a creepy crawler. It was tasty. But, when I came across the second one, I opted out. Overall, I was very happy with the amount of seafood included. The soup was absolutely delicious and exactly what I was hoping to receive upon visiting the restaurant. When I ate the remainder the next day, it was still delicious. The only part I didn't enjoy was the large prawn with whiskers and eyes intact. It was probably delicious but I opted to leave it alone (see photo). There are many options on the menu to select from including soup bowls with a fried egg on top (these are best eaten immediately after preparation). The restaurant area in back of Super G had a good mix of patrons all enjoying their hot food. Count me in for another visit the next time I am in Southeast Charlotte.

Yelp
Yo this food is so bomb, the best Korean food out there. Once you eat Nancy's Korean food you won't be a able to eat other Korean food this GOOD. Not only is the food amazing and affordable, the staff is incredible- it's a family owned business. The side dishes are affordable and fresh and there's a wide variety of choices which is great to buy and try it with the dishes, if not- the dishes come with a side of kimchi, rice, and depending on the meal also a side of radish. It's awesome to have such authentic Korean food here in Charlotte. The chef is Ms. Nancy and she always has such a great smile and a warm greeting. Depending on the day, the cashiers may vary but they are all very welcoming and will help you with any questions. In conclusion this food is AMAZING if you come to Charlotte you definitely need to try Korean Restaurant :)

Yelp
This place is great. It is totally tucked away in the Super G mart on Independence Boulevard and would be easy to miss. We only found it after stopping by the steamed bun place next door (Honey Buns?). Bulgogi is one of my all time favorite foods. This restaurant serves it up just the way I like it for less than other local places. There isn't much by way of ambiance but the food tastes great and is definitely affordable.

Ken H.

Yelp
Very good food and friendly service. You can't get fresher, more authentic Korean food. They are happy to customize your order.
google avatar

Soul V.

Yelp
There has to have been a change in ownership. Although it was never the best Korean food in town, it is easily the worst now. The price is the only thing it has going for it being cheaper than its competition. But the horrible service, the nasty food, the cleanliness of lack there of in their kitchen as well as the eating area all are the reasons behind it. The food is bland and almost inedible. Not true to Korean food in the least. horrible Korean food. Just horrible food in general.
google avatar

Abby L.

Yelp
Good inexpensive kimchi! I love kimchi and this is the real deal! Delicious. I haven't gotten anything else from the shop and ordered my kimchi to go, so I can't speak much for the in house dining. The restaurant is inside of Super G, near Honey Buns. There is a credit card minimum for purchase, so bring cash in case.
google avatar

Jasmine S.

Yelp
It's a modest restaurant focused on providing the best quality dishes. The owner is really helpful if you don't understand your options.

Helen V.

Yelp
So glad this is 5 minutes from my job. Friendly staff and flavorful Korean food in big servings. I love the jjolmyeon (chewy noodles with vegetables and a boiled egg on top) they not too spicy and are very refreshing. Their ricecakes/tteokbokki (picture attached) are my fave, even if it stings my lips for an hour. Their black bean noodles/jajangmyeon comes in a huge serving and are very flavorful. I'll continue to try the other dishes, p.s. love their kimchi.

Melinda V.

Yelp
Got the beef Bulgogi super dry beef only taste sesame oil n salt. Small portions too not worth it pay 16 for this dish. Definitely not coming back ever again so disappointed.
google avatar

Jake W.

Yelp
Been stopping by here for a while now. I find it extremely strange that I enter a supermarket just to go eat there without buying anything... I really like the food that much. My meal of choice is the Bulgogi! I ask for it spicy so they add some extra flare to it. It comes with rice and a small salad. Fills me up and I haven't been disappointed once yet. Don't feel werid if you go to the Super G Mart just to eat here. I do!
google avatar

Kimberly F.

Yelp
Really enjoy this place when I come grocery shopping. The amount of food given is-- a lot. I find that if I don't visit often I begin to crave this food! My favorite part of the bulgogi hotpot is definitely the mushrooms
google avatar

James K.

Yelp
If you are looking for a good Korean food, I can't recommend this place. I come here about twice a year during biz trip and was ok, but guess the owner has been changed one day. I ordered Budaejjigae & Dukbboki and only ate a little portion and would like to say these dishes are like Korean food prepared by non-korean or Korean who is not good at cooking. Please try other menus if you will try.

Ron H.

Yelp
Always a good place to go to get decent Korean food in Charlotte and have been here many times over several years. Clearly the place has become more and more popular and with it an increase in prices which really should reflect in more value such as additional sides just as you would get at a regular Korean restaurant. That being said the food is good but can be challenging to get a seat given the location.
google avatar

Megan J.

Yelp
Omg if you haven't been here then you are seriously missing out on one of Charlottes best hidden gems. It is located inside of the big international grocery store in the shopping center. The dumplings are my favorite, absolutely amazing. The only authentic Korean place I have found in Charlotte and its price point is perfect to boot! Highly recommend for your next Korean fix

Valeri G.

Yelp
Worst Korean food I ever had. I got a steamed meat for $18.99 for a bulgogi. When did the grilled meat become an oven steamed meat? This placed is overpriced and low quality food. Please find a place that will give you your money's worth. I am seriously disappointed. The cashier who greets me with "Wassup man" ?*#? WTH. There are tons of places where I can get high quality food with pleasant servers.
google avatar

Darren H.

Yelp
I love this place. It is not fancy just so GOOD. I have been eating here for a while and have tried and enjoyed everything on the menu. They remember me here and treat me like family, going that extra mile to make me feel appreciated. I can not recommend this place enough for good home cooked Delicious Korean food. This is exactly what I think of when I am hungry, and I will be eating here frequently for as long as I am able.
google avatar

Rosa D.

Yelp
I always have to stop by here when I'm at the market. This time I got the spicy rice cake. Rice cake was chewy but not too chewy. It had just the right amount of heat for me unlike other ones I've had where it was too spicy. It was delicious. I also bought some pickled garlic and cucumber gut jul yi. Great side dishes.
google avatar

Fiana L.

Yelp
The food is great and the price is decent compared to other Korean place. The reason I gave a 3 star is bc the cashier is super rude!!! I asked for a bag for my Togo counter food, and she was like I only have 2 hand u know. I was like I know, and I asked u for a bag when u done taking my money not at this second. And I wanted rice hotpot, she gave me hotpot soup. So I took it back and ask her to correct my order. She insisted it's my fault. And was like we are very busy, so next time make sure what number u wanted to order. How much ruder can she be? I would go back to take out only!
google avatar

Katie R.

Yelp
Sooo delicious! Everything is great but I love the BBQ pork buns, the teriyaki chicken and the kimchi buns!
google avatar

Mama B.

Yelp
Went there last year and was already disappointed with the food. Today, I thought about giving it another try (very bad decision) Really disappointed! Food's bland, meat was though and way overpriced for the quality. You're better off driving to Matthews and go to Peperos.(best place for real Korean food ).
google avatar

Erica S.

Yelp
If you want good Korean food at a very affordable price, try this place out....portions are HUGE! I've been to other Korean restaurants in the area and no matter where you go, the food is good....Korean Restaurant's advantage is that their food is half the cost. It is tucked away at the back right-hand corner of G-mart on Independence. Kimchi is good and made fresh. I've had several dishes here but my favorite is the jap chae (glass noodle w/ beef and rice).

Hailey T.

Yelp
The spicy rice cakes were amazing. The staff was so friendly, and they make sure my food was steaming hot when it got to me.
