Google
Amazing bakery on Passyunk that you have to try! I really loved the cake roll, it’s absolutely delicious. The sourdough doughnuts are a nice change of pace from standard American fare, and they come in a variety of flavors. I got the standard vanilla creme which was good. They also sell some small butter cookies with guava jam in little sealed bags, which were exceptional! Definitely coming back soon.

Google
What a charming little bakery with an incredible selection of treats! We stumbled upon Koulet while taking a stroll after brunch and couldn’t resist stepping in for some dessert. We tried the chocolate and carrot cake, custard-filled pastries, and a passion fruit dessert — everything was absolutely delightful. The best part? Nothing was overly sweet; each item had just the right balance of flavor and sweetness. We also grabbed a coffee and a latte for the road, both of which were great. We’re already looking forward to coming back for more! IG: journey_man16

Google
Such a cute bakery! Lovely service and treats :) it’s not shown in my pic but the empada with chicken filling 🙏 SOO good 🙏 to die for - I ended up buying another!

Google
Fantastic Brazilian bakery with a wide variety of different items, both savory and sweet. Everything I tried was delicious. Baked well with flavors that you can tell were really fresh and thought out. The sugar donut was out of this world. Will definitely be back to try more.

Google
Peak donut experience! Since discovering these delicious sourdough cream clouds, American donuts have been absolutely ruined for me. Everything else I've tried is delightful as well — do yourself a favor and stop in.

Google
Great assortment of both sweet and savory pastries and baked goods. The “Pão de queijo” were amazing, a cheesy bread made with tapioca flour. They had a traditional option and one with spices that I had to go back and get a second serving. The cake rolls were also great, we had the double chocolate and lime which were great as well.

Google
Our experience with the sonho was thoroughly delightful. The sourdough donut provided a perfect base—neither too sweet nor overpowering—which elegantly complemented the richer sweetness of the ganache. The custard center was killer, and its subtlety in sweetness allowed the depth of flavors to shine through without being overshadowed by too much sugar. This careful balance of ingredients made for an exceptional overall flavor profile that we greatly appreciated. We're eager to return and explore more of their offerings!

Google
I went on a Saturday morning around 11, everything was sold out besides 1 pastry, roll cakes and Brazilian bread. Brazilian bread was great fresh, would have to come back and try the pastries they are known for. I was not a fan of the sourness of the cream on the pastries. Come early.

Yelp
I must go back to try more items, including the drinks! I love the bright yellow! There is some seating in the front and there is more seating in the back. They also have a little shelf selling Brazilian candy/snacks! Each item is created to perfection. Sonho de Folha de Figo Corn Doce de Leite (4/5) - Sourdough donut filled with fig leaf custard and dulce de leche; a bit too sweet because of the dulce de leche but that is iconic in Brazil, beautiful edible flowers on top Mango Cremeux (5/5) - so decadent and tropical

Yelp
Incredible pastries!! I never knew what I was missing and now I will crave the Empada weekly. Everything we tried was awesome. Bakery was nice and clean inside. There were several things to choose from, sweet and savory so you can definitely find your new favorite treat here!

Yelp
So glad we have a brazilian bakery in Philly. We stopped by around 3:00 PM and they were out of many of the popular options. We still got to try the most amazing baked goods: Guava cake roll: You can actually taste the guava distinctly. Very soft! Sonho de Curau: Roasted corn and Cinnamon in a Sourdough donut. Sooo soft and fluffy, loved the filling, if I am not wrong it had condensed milk too. Mańe Pelado: Yuca, Parmesan cheese and coconut cake. Such beautiful ingredients that work harmoniously together. Our favorite of the three. Must try if you are a fan of bread and have a sweet tooth.

Yelp
I've been wanting to come here for some time because I was trying to find a good Brazilian store/spot. Their stuff is delicious but bakery priced. Small shop, no restroom. Has outlets though. Very delicious, would recommend. Will come back to try the other items

Yelp
5/5 cheese bread. Small yet so delicious. Spot is a small shop with a couple seating but you can definitely see pastries and bread are made fresh :3

Yelp
It has been a while since I've been in this store. I noticed that the rearrange it so when you come in you will see the display of very enticing desserts. I couldn't resist to try several of them. The owner was super friendly. She remembered me when I visited her pop up at a farmer's market. She took pride of her creations. She encouraged me to try this braided sourdough brioche . It looked very simple like a French curler but she explained that there's an orange flavor on it. She was right. It's definitely an elevated donut. It was very light an airy covered with coarse sugar with a hit of orange flavor. Highly recommended. All of the baked goods were very fresh and moist. Beautiful presentation. The bolinhos were so pretty with little flowers as decorations.

Yelp
It's hard to miss this store - painted in bring yellow! I love trying new food so I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this bakery specialized in Brazilians goods. Everything looked so appetizing and are portioned nicely in bite sizes. We got the guava pudin, cheeses bread, and the beef empadas. I thought the empadas would taste like empanadas but they were flakier and drier. It reminded me more of a Chinese savory moon cake. The guava pudim is delicious. Although this is a Brazilian flan I felt like it tasted less gelatinous than flans I've tasted before. It was creamy and more of the texture of a banana pudding. I need to come back again to try other other items! This is definitely a hidden gem in Passyunk that I will be taking all my friends when they visit.

Yelp
I ate the entire heated sour dough brioche w ham before taking a picture. So there is no picture of it. Sorry, I was hungry. Apple cider sour dough donut (weekend only and had to look on their website to remember) and coconut cake pastry is what I got in addition. There is no indoor seating- otherwise I would've gotten a drink too. Superb quality pastries and a pleasure to run into. I am going to guess Portugal has some similar items, but maybe some things could be a modern take.

Yelp
I first came across Kouklet's famed cake rolls at some Center City street fair in the summer of 2021. Frankly, I wasn't totally sold - I think I got some kind of birthday cake flavor, and it was just too sweet for me. But then I walked past their bright, sunny exterior down on Passyunk, saw the array of pastries and sweets in the window, and couldn't resist going inside. I'm so glad I did - everything I've tried since, from the sourdough doughnuts ($5 ea.) to the banana caramel-topped flan pudding ($6) to the pineapple upside-down cake ($6) to the gingerbread cake ($5) to the numerous little boxes of cookies, as been excellent. I love how the slight sourness of the doughnuts temper the sweetness of the caramelized condensed milk filling, and how the cakes aren't just sweet, but have another contrasting element (the tang of pineapple or the bite of Christmas-y spice) that adds dimension to each bite. The last time I visited, I also tried a creamy chicken empada ($10). I felt that it was on a pricey side; that being said, the pastry was flaky and delicious, and the filling was unique and tasty. The bakery staff have been friendly and helpful each time I've visited, and I look forward to the next time I find myself down by the sunshine-y Kouklet!

Yelp
I've been waiting to try this place for ages, but I usually am on my way at 10 am, which is when they open (plus I can't wait that long to eat breakfast without getting hangry). I tried to get Essen in the late morning, and they were obviously sold out so I pivoted here to finally try it! We got a palm empanada and a chicken one. Their pastry was perfect - gold and flaky, and the contents were also amazing. I was surprised by their price, however, it was $8 and $10 respectively. Honestly, totally worth it though. We also got this cider doughnut thing, which was also amazing. Some people love savory breakfast options, and empanadas certainly are a staple breakfast item in Latin America!! If this place was a buck or two cheaper and open at even 8 am, I would come more often. I will be back probably sooner than I intend anyway though!

Yelp
Found this place with a random search for desserts in the area. Looked at the photos and thought it was worth a stop, definitely was. Got the Philly cake roll - dark chocolate covered pretzel cake filled with salted dolce de leite ganache topped with peanut brittle and dark chocolate brigadeiros. Had other styles of cake rolls so this wasn't exactly new but the flavors were very good, nice hint of salt for the perfect salty/sweet ratio. Never had a brigadeiro but very reminiscent of a truffle and you can't really go wrong with chocolate and sprinkles. Staff was friendly and helpful - I asked what was the most popular and she said the cake roll so I went with that. Would definitely go back and try more!

Yelp
I ate everything too fast and forgot to take pictures- whoops. The interior is cute and simple. I believe there were a few seats by the window, but you're probably better off taking your order to go since I'd imagine it could get cramped quickly inside. The woman behind the counter was helpful with recommendations. I got the mango and coconut pudding, chicken empanada, and orange roll. The chicken empanada was my favorite. It was perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked- 10/10. The mango and coconut pudding is a great little dessert. I think it'll taste better cold so I put it in the refrigerator when I got home and am looking forward to eating it later! The roll was also yummy and think it'll be a great snack with coffee. It's a littleeeeee pricey- those three things cost about $19- but worth it, IMO. Great little shop full of delicious treats I don't think you can find elsewhere in Philly.

Yelp
Returned here again and somehow it was even more delicious than the first time I came here! We tried the chicken empanadas and a lime pastry. They were both amazing! The chicken empanada is a bit expensive, but it was heavy and filling. As someone who is not a big lime person, the lime pastry was so tangy and creamy. I can't wait to return here again soon.

Yelp
We went here because it we wanted to go somewhere else that was closed, and on the walk back to the car the smell beckoned us inside. Customer service was top-notch. The counter person was nice enough to explain every little thing to us. My goodness she was so welcoming. The breads were all delicious. The prices were a bit less than fair considering the portion size, but you pay for the neighborhood I guess. For the customer service and the unique items we go back.

Yelp
Cute little bakery on Passyunk in South Philly. This small shop specializes in Brazilian baked goods both sweet and savory. Stopped by on a Saturday morning and decided to get pretty much one of everything after a quick browse because everything looked delicious. After bringing back the baked goods home, I heated up some of the savory pastries up in the oven for a few minutes and they filled the room with a pleasant bread aroma. Chicken empanada/tart was well balanced with shredded pieces of chicken mixed in a creamy sauce on top of a buttery flaky pastry. This was our favorite. The spinach empanada and smoked sausage bun were great as well. For sweets, we got a chocolate custard sourdough donut, an original custard sourdough donut, and a guava roll cake slice. The sourdough bread contrasted with a sweet custard which was new for me. Most definitely will return to try some more pastries in the future.

Yelp
This is a great addition to Passyunk! The staff was all very friendly and there are menus available to look at while you wait in line. The egg and cheese empanada was great! Super flaky and flavorful. The vanilla sonho (donut) was amazing. It tasted like it just came out of the oven and you can tell the custard is homemade. They are most known for their cake rolls and have many flavors to choose from (including a few vegan options). Go early-there was already a line outside at 10am and d they do sell out!

Yelp
This place is amazing! My friends and I stopped by on a food stroll down E Passyunk in the early afternoon. My friend got the last Empada de Palmito (heart of palm savory tart) and let me try it - it was delicious! I got a Pão de Queijo (classic tapioca cheese bread) which was also so good. I can't wait to come back and try more pastries!

Yelp
I discovered this place on my way walking to work. When I past there they were not open yet. I googled the place. I checked what they have, what time they open. They offer online order for pickup and delivery too. I order couple things online and was able to pick up weekend. Went there and I saw they have more goods. I tried their empanadas, croquettes, cheese and Brazilian style pork sausages and chocolate sourdough. My fave from all of them was the croquettes. The service was good. The atmosphere was nice too

Yelp
Ok so... I work for fed ex & while I was working I wanted something sweet to eat... I see this Brazilian bake shop let's see what this is about. BEST DECISION OF THE DAY. Everything was sooo good and looked so delicious. I ended up gettin a lime tart bomb af.. a stuff donut omg.. and a little chocolate ball.. damn. They got me.. I'll be there at lease once a week. God please help my debit card lol

Anahi A.

Yelp
I went in with the question if they had any vegan option and they had only one but when I tell you that one option was great, it would be an understatement because it was so good. My only regret was not getting more than one.

Yelp
Walked past this place a night ago and decided to come back this morning. The pastries were delicious , I had a pastry with egg and cheese and a tapioca and cheese bread. Both were really great and would definitely go back!

Latoya P.

Yelp
My original plan to go to Portugués shop was derailed. So I decided to head over to the Brazilians. The shop was super cute and bright and friendly service and staff! I was impressed by any of the food. I got the chocolate cake roll, 1 of each flavor of songho, and a mango bolingho. All sweet, didn't try the savory side. With the exception of the chocolate roll everything tasted the same-like no discernible difference in flavor. So...i can't say it was bad. Just...ok. I won't go back. Calories Better served elsewhere

Kristy D.

Yelp
The chicken empanada was good but still a tad pricey. But the other sweet roll cake is definitely over priced for that tiny size. Good to try once but doubt will be return anytime soon.

Jules W.

Yelp
Stopped by and grabbed a vanilla sonho and tapioca cheese bread. They were absolutely delicious, and reasonably priced. Will be returning!!

William C.

Yelp
You absolutely cannot go wrong here. Wonderful pastries and super friendly folks to explain them. One might wish for more chocolate but that's just me. Wonderful addition to the Ave.

Vania M.

Yelp
Delicious and authentic Brazilian bakery with some creative additions. All we bought was delicious, pão de queijo e rice pudding were amazing, the mane pelado is an amazing gluten free dessert option that reminds me of growing up. Obrigada!
