"If you need to warm up with a hot bowl of ramen, head to Koyote in the Marmalade Districtn for that, plus fresh takes on traditional Japanese food. Even dairy lovers will enjoy the vegan whipped tofu served with scallion pancakes, but the gluten-free fried karaage chicken wings are also an incredible starter—especially if you’re the type that thinks every meal needs meat. For mains, you can’t go wrong with the American Shoyu ramen served with smoked brisket, or the creamy tantan-men made with a vegetarian sesame stock. If you enjoy interacting with your server, you may be disappointed by the iPad ordering system, but it does ensure your dishes are delivered in a hurry. photo credit: McKenzie Tagai" - Jenny Willden

"At this casual Japanese shokudo, founded in 2023 in Salt Lake City’s Marmalade district, chef Hiro Tagai, a Tokyo-trained ramen expert, and chef Felipe Oliveira focus on traditional Japanese cuisine, including ramen and washoku, using fresh, seasonal ingredients to honor nature’s flavors. The extensive menu includes a classic Tokyo-style chuka soba in a delicate chicken and pork stock with tender chashu pork, as well as plant-based and gluten-free options such as the tantan-men, a vegetarian ramen with creamy sesame stock and mapo chili. For those with a sweet tooth, the restaurant offers creative desserts including ice cream infused with kuromitsu, a Japanese black sugar, and topped with roasted soybean flour." - Sarah Entwistle

Food and drinks are always amazing, I always get the tantan-man but chose to try the American shoyu with brisket on top. It was just as good as tartan-man! Service was excellent… We sat on the patio and ended up moving to another table because the sun was hot, the staff helped us move our order and bussed us a new one in the shade. No complaints at all!

Google
The presentation looked good. A lot of dishes were lacking flavor. The fried chicken appetizer was actually our favorite, it was excellent in flavor & crunch. The pickles I do not recommend at all. They were very soggy and squishy and not good at all. The ramens were both lacking flavor & spice, broth was very plain & meat was just alright kind of dry. The ice cream was good, it had a different flavor & was unique.

Google
Koyote surprised me in the best way possible. I’ve never had brisket in ramen before, but it totally worked—the broth was rich and savory, and the brisket was legit smoked, with that deep flavor and tenderness you usually only find at a good BBQ spot. Definitely not something I expected at a ramen joint, but they pulled it off. The gyoza were some of the best I’ve ever had—crispy on the outside, juicy and super flavorful on the inside. And the house-made pickles were a great little snack to start with while waiting for the main bowl. Service was excellent, and the atmosphere had a cool, relaxed vibe. I’m already looking forward to going back and trying the other ramen options on the menu. This place is a fusion win.

Google
Long wait on a busy night. Waiting for over an hour. However, the staff were very friendly and apologetic with the long wait. Relatively straightforward as far as ordering food. There is a QR code at your seat that you can scan and open a “tab” with so you can get what you need. The ramen was absolutely delicious! It came out super fast and I loved the flavor of the chicken and broth.

Google
Koyote was great. By Utah standards it was amazing. We arrived at 8 and it was very full and they told us it could be possible we wouldn't get a table (no reservations here). However, we were seated after about 50 ish minutes. The service was fine, but just that. A server helped explain how the ordering worked: a qr code on the table links you to their menu and online ordering function. I'm not a huge fan of this style of ordering as I would rather talk to someone about it so I can ask questions or for recommendations. However, everything that came out was great. Karaage wings were incredibly crunchy with great flavor. No need to hide behind a bold sauce. Pickles were a random order but were the best pickles I've ever had. Sweet potato chips were crisp, but I might skip this one next time. the whipped tofu was awesome - creamy texture with mild flavor offset by the spicy toppings made for a great shareable dish. Tantan men was a nice spicy broth with good balance of flavors, and the toppings were cooked perfectly. Tonkotsu tsukemen was a first time-try for me and the aspect of dipping into the thick, sauce like broth was fun and indulgently delicious. Would love to return and try dessert. Overall a great experience, however I wish there were reservations available as this could be a great spot for a special occasion. Physical menus and in-person ordering would also be awesome to see! However, neither of these things would deter me from coming in again.

This is a quaint little neighborhood restaurant north of downtown SLC. The menu and food offerings were unique AND authentic. Tables inside and out. Ramen was rich in flavor. Service was super friendly and attentive. It's a gem.

Google
Okay atmosphere and service was good. Cool and hip. The main issue was the food. Most of it was very plain and bland tasting. They chicken wings were amazing but outside of that it was mediocre. All drinks come out of cans food all had one consistent taste of soy sauce. And maybe I’m just not a ramen person but was not impressed with the food.

Google
I honestly thought I ordered off the kids' menu. My hand is x-small and so is their rice bowl. Extra $2 gets you half an egg. Tiny pork pieces, which they legally should not be able call "chashu", all fit nicely on a teaspoon. Presentation is pretty ☺️ but no thanks.

GingerSnap S.

Yelp
The vegetarian ramen is so amazing. You have to try out the whipped tofu appetizer. We get it every time and it never disappoints! Expect a wait when you show up. We've gotten it to go and I absolutely love the packaging. The broth is below the fixings so it won't get soggy or overcooked.

Yelp
SALTY. The pickled veggie appetizer, ultra salty. The miso soup, ultra salty. The dressing on the green salad, ultra salty. The Wagyu Hambagu was saltier than preferred but REALLY GOOD, just a bit too salty. The Kaisen-don was highly enjoyed by two in our party. The Eggs Benedict brunch selection was well-enough enjoyed by one in our party. The staff were all very friendly, but I would echo other complaints about doing everything through the app -- I hate scrolling through menus on my phone. I get that this offers a lot of upside for the restaurant, but I hate it and I have friends who refuse to go to restaurants where they can't hold and read a menu - so I won't be taking them here for sure. We are normally big tippers, but the Toast app wouldn't allow a tip to be added -- one of our party was going to go back with cash the following day, but bottom line, tipping on the app should be as accessible as paying through the app -- if you want a tip, that is. Perhaps they don't want tips. The place is super-cute with outdoor seating in warm weather, a fun vibe (though indoor music was a bit too loud), and a great addition to the Marmalade area. Please, not so heavy-handed on the salt!

Yelp
Fun to venture up to the Capitol/Hill Marmalade district to try the very buzzy Koyote. We pulled up just before it opened for dinner and there were already multiple parties waiting for the doors to open. Once inside, we admired the wood paneling, cozy booths, bright pops of color, and sprinkles of western decor. When the weather warms up, there is a spacious patio for alfresco dining. What we ordered: Whipped Tofu - Who knew I just needed whipped tofu in my life - with house-made chili crisps and plant-based mapo chili (that made me actually question if I ordered meat) plus scallion pancakes to dip and wipe the bowl clean. I'll be thinking of this dish for a long time. Hot Sake - This is a popular vending machine sake in Japan that I hadn't tried before. Sometimes hot sake on a cold Utah night just hits the spot. American Shoyu Ramen - Classic clear chicken and pork stock with straight egg noodles, smoked brisket, a soft-boiled egg, and bamboo shoots. Vegetarian Tatanmen Ramen - I wasn't aware that Koyote offered so many plant-based vegetarian options and hot dang, plant-based meats have come a long way! This sesame broth was so rich and spicy and creamy I definitely thought there was meat involved in its process. Instead of ground pork it was topped with plant-based mapo chili. Paired with the wavy Sapporo style noodles (vegan!), I was one happy customer. Perfectly cooked soft-boiled egg, green onions, scallions, and baby bok choy rounded out the dish. I did feel the entire plate was a bit overly salted but that is my only note. There is a lot of attention paid to diverse offerings - gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian are all clearly labeled and easy to customize. And a $7 kid ramen is a nice nod to the family-friendliness this city is known for. Service is - quirky. Friendly host seated us, then instructed us to scan the QR code and order from the Toast-operated online menu. Not my favorite type of restaurant interaction, but efficient. Drinks and food were brought out in a nicely-paced manner and they did check on us a couple of times, but there wasn't a lot more face-to-face time than that. I can understand that for a lunch stop, but as Koyote bills itself as a more upscale date-night destination, I'd appreciate a more service-oriented approach. All that said, I've got no complaints about more authentic Japanese establishments popping up in SLC. I will tell everyone about the whipped tofu and can't wait to return to try their other fares.

Aimee L.

Yelp
I think I enjoyed the experience of this place more than the food. I haven't visited a restaurant where the only role the host plays is to hand you the food. Once seated, you just use your phone to scan the barcode and order from there. It opens a tab that you can keep adding to until you're done. My coworker and I sat along the long bar that faces the kitchen which is full of appliances that I couldn't tell were decorative or actually used for food prep. I just had the classic ramen omitting chashu following the menu's suggestion to add wontons. They don't offer a tonkotsu broth here, just the shoyu based one. Never been a huge fan of clear broths unless you start talking kitakata or saimin to me. It's a tad too salty and I feel awful leaving someone's hard work sitting in the bottom of the bowl waiting to be poured down the sink. The rest of the ingredients were pretty high quality. Noodles were al dente and perfectly good. I also enjoyed the marinated egg and the way they fancied up the green onions. :) The wonton were tiny and not particularly flavorful. Better to go with more noodles. That, if I end up returning here. If you work the airport and stay at a hotel, this place is a little out of the way. I'd probably try a different place if we get the opportunity. The big plus of this place is that it's great for solo eaters because you just sit down, order, eat, pay online and go.

Yelp
I noticed this restaurant existed a few weeks ago when I was doing my daily walks. So I finally made time to dine here last week with my friend and I'm so happy we did. Also, it's only less than a 5 min walk, so it's def another reason for me to come back again. Parking can be found in the residential streets. There are ample. There are seating outdoor and indoor. We sat indoor across from the bar since the outdoor was full. The place is cute, spacious, clean, and slightly dimmed. We sat at the booth, which fit perfectly. It was quite packed that day and luckily they were able to squeeze us in without any reservations. You order from the QR code and then submit the order when you're ready. The staffs will bring out the food and drinks for you. We ordered the popular whipped tofu, salmon bowl, and gyozas. All were good, but our fav was the whipped tofu. Surprisingly, we were really full given the fact they are appetizers. Also, we ordered the horchata cocktail and it was surprisingly good, too. I'm not a big fan of horchata, but it had the right balance. I'm definitely coming back to try their ramen and order the whipped tofu again. Hoping next time to dine outdoors.

Ha B.

Yelp
Came here for lunch at a fellow Yelpers recommendation. The space looks clean and more modern; the menu has a lot of options to choose from. Their ramen bowls (we got a classic and a brisket, with some added toppings) were okay. Gyoza wasn't really good (prob won't reorder). So the best tasting item on our table was the sapa. Overall, the food was okay but since there are so many yummy sounding items on the menu, I'd be curious to come back and try them out.

Manda H.

Yelp
The whipped tofu was great, just like everyone says. We also had gyoza, karaage wings, and extra scallion pancakes, all of which were solid choices. Rice on Rice was a fun cocktail, and the Koyote beer was a solid house brew. The ramen itself was just okay. We tried variations of classic and brown butter, and while the broth was seasoned, it wasn't the kind you want to drink down after your noodles. The noodles were fine, but the meat wasn't a favorite. The egg, however, was excellent--perfectly marinated and definitely the highlight of the bowl. Service was a little chaotic, with all of our orders having some mix-up, even the ones with no modifications. Ordering is done through a QR code to the Toast app, where everyone can add to one bill, which was a little confusing at first. They have WiFi, but I didn't ask for the password since the staff was busy running around. The restaurant was packed, giving it a lively atmosphere, though it did make service feel a little rushed. I wanted to try dessert but was way too full. I'd come back for the appetizers and maybe give the vegetarian ramen a shot since I've heard good things, but I won't set my expectations too high.

Andrew G.

Yelp
Pretty good food with great ambiance. Loved everything about the way it looked and the service was great. Just didn't think the flavors were amazing. The brisket rice bowl is worth getting and so is the whipped miso and the chips. Salad was very very not good, mapo tofu was OK but i wouldn't get it again. My friends got the ramen and really liked it though!

Peter C.

Yelp
Overall a solid ramen spot and great ambiance! Staff is super friendly and the service was top notch. I got the butter miso ramen and added the brisket to try both of their protein options. I respect the fusion idea but bbq brisket just doesn't go well with ramen in my personal opinion. I'd skip on that next time. The butter miso broth is very good, super rich and has great depth of flavor! I tried my friend's shoyu style broth and that was also pretty good. I prefer the butter miso broth out of the two. The noodles were great, good amount of thickness and perfect chew. The chashu and egg had good flavor. The only cons were the toppings being cold and the broth was not hot enough (probably partly from the cold toppings). Especially on a cold night post snowboarding, I was really looking forward to the hot broth!

El H.

Yelp
I've been to Koyote twice, and have gotten the tantan-men made vegan twice. The second time was much better than the first, but it's a great ramen spot regardless! The people I have dined with really liked it as well. I just wish they had an option to add tofu to their other vegan ramen! I generally don't order vegan ramen without protein.

Megan E.

Yelp
The restaurant was nice and modern. The food was really good. We had the potstickers, American shoyu (with the wavy noodles) and the ube dessert. The potstickers were really tasty with a good sauce, but only came with 4. For $7 there should be at least 6. The ramen was delicious! I like salty broth and this did not disappoint! The dessert was good as well. One thing I didn't love was that you ordered through an app at the table. We left ours open so we could order dessert later. If you do this, your other order disappears from the app. We went to pay and could only access the bill for the dessert. We had to get help from staff, which didn't speak much English so it was hard to communicate the issue. They kept water coming and they were very nice. I would definitely go back and try more items!

Hoa T.

Yelp
This ramen spot is such a good find. It is definitely a neighborhood gem. Once seated, you order online and the food is brought to your table. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. We ordered plant-based gyoza, Shioyaki Saba, the Mabo tofu, the whipped tofu and the classic ramen. The gyoza was super tasty and you won't miss the meat. The Shioyaki Saba, the mackerel was cooked so well. I could eat that every day and be happy. The whipped tofu was so creamy. I would never have guessed that it was tofu. The Mabo tofu was also very good. Finally the ramen was warm and very filling. Everything was great. I highly recommend this place.

Diya R.

Yelp
Loved the vegan tantanmen and whipped tofu (so unique)! Cozy ambience and friendly staff! Highly recommend

Yelp
I've been following Koyote for a long, long time on Instagram, salivating over the pics of their ramen, and I figured it was time to give them a shot when Tan France from Queer Eye posted about their food. Don't need to tell me twice, Tan! We came on a Saturday night around 5:45 and it was popping! We had a group of five so our projected wait time was around 30 - 45 minutes. No big deal -- happy to wait for yummy food. We were added to the waitlist but about 15 minutes later, we received a text message that we had been removed. In a panicked state, we called about this and were promptly added back, but we couldn't track our wait status anymore, so we were told we'd be given a phone call when a table to accommodate our size was ready. As our wait time crept closer to 1 hour, we checked back in and were told that the folks at the two large tables were done eating and were just hanging around. Shortly after that call, one of the tables left and we were seated. I love that you order straight from your table and manage your tab without referring to a dedicated waiter/waitress. Felt very much like some of the shops my partner and I have eaten at in Japan. We ordered the pork gyoza, whipped tofu with extra scallion pancakes (a must order!), one dipping ramen, a butter ramen, and a classic ramen. We were impressed with how tasty the food was, but our ramen bowls did take quite a bit to come out after the two appetizers. The food was so good that our 8 month old kept demanding more of everything we were eating. She especially loved the marinated egg and scallion pancakes. I docked a star because of how loud the restaurant was, and it wasn't just the conversation level from other tables but the music's volume. It felt like we had to shout a bit across the table to talk to one another. Other than that, this is now one of my top five fave restaurants IN SLC.

Yelp
Koyote is hands-down one of the most exciting additions to Salt Lake's food scene. Yes, it's on the pricier side--but the quality, creativity, and overall experience make it absolutely worth it. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance: modern and stylish, but still warm and inviting. It's got that "special night out" feel without being overly formal--a vibe that's both relaxed and refined. The standout for me? The whipped tofu. I wasn't expecting to be blown away by something so simple, but it was smooth, silky, and rich, perfectly balanced with layers of texture and umami that made it feel indulgent yet light. The Brown Butter Miso Ramen was next level. Decadent and deeply flavorful, the broth is luxurious without being heavy--rich and savory with a deep, nutty finish from the brown butter. Easily one of the best bowls of ramen I've had in Salt Lake. The Chashu-Don deserves serious love too. The pork was melt-in-your-mouth tender with a perfect char, laid over a bowl of rice that soaked up all that flavor like a dream. It's comfort food, elevated. If you're looking for a place that delivers on quality and isn't afraid to push culinary boundaries, Koyote is it. Just know you're paying for that level of craft--and in my opinion, it's money well spent.

Austin N.

Yelp
Food is A+! Service is outstanding although be aware they get super busy so sometimes wait times are long. Parking can be tough (because they are busy!). Ambience is great. This place is awesome

Rose H.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I really loved the ramen here!! Everything was so flavorful. We came at around 7:30pm on a Monday and it was surprisingly very busy and we couldn't get a table until around 8. The food was really good, though, and made the wait worth it. The prices are reasonable and the service was efficient. The vibes were quite good and we will be back!

Lo M.

Yelp
I finally made it to Koyote to see what all the hype was about, and boy oh boy, did they deliver. It's located in a bit of an inconspicuous area, so parking is sparse, but once you're inside it's flying colors. The interior is modern yet cozy and has nice ambient lighting. We ordered some apps, including the plant based gyoza a which was surprisingly delicious and I wasn't even aware it was plant based until after devouring it - and the whipped tofu. This whipped tofu dish was unlike anything I've tried before, prepared with confit garlic and chili and served with heavenly scallion pancakes. The dish was extremely creamy and if you hadn't told me it was made with tofu, I wouldn't have guessed it. I ordered the tantan-men ramen but substituted for thick noodles, and it came out looking so scrumptious that the table next to us asked what I ordered. The spice level was perfectly manageable as well! This intimate Japanese restaurant certainly caught my attention and I'll be returning for more!

Pari S.

Yelp
Not too crazy about the order system being non-personal. You have to use a QR code and order from your phone and close your tab the same way. So don't have anyone to tip, right? Mine wasn't working so they had someone take my order in person which was nice. I also didn't like that you can't request a spice level on almost any of their ramens. That's a first for me and I have been to many ramen spots. The tan-tan men was good, a bit too creamy for a ramen, more like a pasta dish, and way too spicy. I also found the mabo tofu too spicy.

Allison H.

Yelp
When you enter the restaurant, you are seated and directed to order by scanning a QR code. It is connected to the table you are seated at. You also enter your payment information online as well. So basically, you only interact with staff if they are bringing food/drink to your table. Because of this concept, I don't really understand the difference between dining in or ordering take out. It also makes it hard to ask for more water, alert a server if something is incorrect, or share other small things a server could easily take care of. Seeing employees stand around made me wonder why this system is in place. Overall, the interior is nicely decorated, and the food was delicious, though some items are a little expensive ($2.50 for chili crisp, $3 for an egg?). The ramen was flavorful (leaning towards the saltier side) and filling. Get here early if you have your eye on something specific on the menu, as I noticed more than 3 dishes were unavailable to order at 7pm.

Sara C.

Yelp
The food is amazing. It is pricey but I feel that the service was just mediocre. I sat at the bar with my friend and honestly tipping on this was complicated because you order online. And then you pay online all the server does is bring the food and that was usually a food runner The ambiance is young and fun but there is not a ton of seating so you could wait a long while before being seated since they don't do reservations or a waitlist online. Id go back because the food was so good but I don't think this would be a regular spot

Phoebe L.

Yelp
The ramen was delicious and full of flavors! We came on a weekday afternoon and it wasn't crowded at all.,Also loved the interior and overall ambience

Kassandra S.

Yelp
This place is extremely authentic & it even better than some LA spots I've tried! We came here visiting from LA, California and were craving a tasty ramen to help warm up from the cold weather. This spot was a HUGE HIT! So happy we found this spot. The atmosphere seemed authentic with kind & attentive service. Now for the food: Tantan-men 9/10: amazing tasting ramen! You are able to order your order & pay right after! The broth was scrumptious & just the right around of flavoring, I wish it had more spiciness! This was a vegetarian popular broth. They also have Gluten- FREE & vegan options Fish 10/10: very fishy very yummy. Great flavor & cooked to perfection! The lemon on the side was absolutely needed for added deliciousness!! Overall an amazing place!! Must visit & try for great authentic ramen.

Liza F.

Yelp
We loved the this ramen spot! Also not pictured, vegan ramen, tonkotsu ramen, gyoza and pickled veggies. The menu was great for vegans and non. Our party of 6 was seated quickly and the server did a good job explaining the order system- you order individually at the table from your phone. The food was excellent, the service was great, there were tables both inside and out- overall great experience. Will definitely be back to try more!

AJ A.

Yelp
The restaurant has Delicious food! Friendly service and modern but calm ambiance. Highly Recommend!

Sonny W.

Yelp
SLC needs more restaurants like this! Went on a Saturday evening and the place was full, got seats at the bar so we didn't have to wait. You order via QR code and pay all on your phone. The service scored very high in my opinion: order was brought out separately and well spaced out-cold appetizers, then hot appetizers, drinks, lastly the entree. They were organized and timely!, much appreciated! Classic ramen- broth was decent, not too fatty, noodles cooked just right, paired well with all the ingredients. Nothing out of place or too over the top, just like I like my ramen. Seared skipjack tuna salad- was light, tasty, sauce paired well. if you are in the mood for something lighter, try this! House gyoza- a nice chard edge to it, Karage wings- more like crispy chicken wings but batter was very tasty. KOYOTE beer- a light summer ale. If you love a cold Sprite, you'll love the Chu-Hi Lemon alcoholic drink! The horchata sake w a rimmed cinnamon sugar.. tastes just like it sounds...yummy! Kotote definitely deserves many return visits and will bring family and friends. Can't wait to try other menu items!

Brandon N.

Yelp
This place is great, beautiful venue with some fantastic ramen. Location is not where you think you would find this top notch place. Definitely give it a try

Akiko G.

Yelp
App system needs to improve. Order and payment were difficult. Bigger restaurant name sign helps finding restaurant easier

Polina K.

Yelp
This Rose Park/Marmalade ramen restaurant offers delicious food in a cozy atmosphere. The ramen itself is delicious, broth full of flavor. Other food items on the menu do not disappoint either - I highly recommend the wings and unique snack of lotus chips. It does get very busy, and can get crowded, so be prepared to wait. However, the service is always fast.

Stef A.

Yelp
PROS: - Ordering process is so simple. We ordered on our phones and paid through the phone. I loved this concept. The restaurant is well designed - WHIPPED MISO. Order this. I had no idea what to expect but this was by far the most interesting and delicious bite we has during our meal. It was spicy, creamy, soft, and rich. Truly amazing - Shioyaki saba mackrell was amazing also. It was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. - they had a Caesar salad with fish that was a great salad also - simple beer selection but great tasting beers nonetheless CONS: -tantan men ramen was very boring. The broth was not spicy. I thought the noodles were chewy. Despite the fact that I didn't love the ramen I order, the appetizers more than made up for it and I would come back and try a different ramen and update this review. Overall a great restaurant and addition to the SLC food scene.

Corynn B.

Yelp
I've been dying to try this place since it opened and finally was able to check it out last night. It's in a cute hidden little residential area on the west side and is so cute and chic inside. You start at tab at your table with the QR code, and we just ordered whenever we were ready. We loved this because we ended up ordering a bunch of apps to share and it was perfect. The staff was super friendly and the food and drinks came out super quickly after we had ordered. We got here right at opening time (5pm) on a Thursday and it wasn't too busy. Warning: your eyes will likely be bigger than your stomach, like ours. We ended up stuffing our faces with apps, and I was so pleasantly surprised at how many vegan options they had! Whipped tofu: A must try for anyone, vegan or not vegan. It has the consistency of a hummus and was packed with flavor. Get the extra scallion pancakes if you're sharing! Mabo tofu: Delicious with a hint of spice and tons of flavor, it was silken tofu with some plant based crumbles and comes with a side of rice Plant based gyoza: YUM, crispy and crunchy and so yummy We were full off of these items alone and didn't even get to try their desserts or their ramen. Can't wait to come back. They were setting up their patio seating when we were there, and the patio space looks lovely!

Yelp
This Japanese restaurant is so good. I came here at night which the area looks a little bit sketchy and dark, but the food is good. I did like their ramen, and the smoked brisket was something new, and it was good. Great customer service and clean.

Mehruba A.

Yelp
This was a really cool place to check out. It's tucked away in a little neighborhood and the inside is very cute. Once you sit down, you scan a QR code and you're able to order and check out all online which is really nice and convenient. You don't have to track down someone when you want something else which is nice. The whipped tofu with scallion pancakes were amazing and I would absolutely come back for that. The plant based gyoza was also amazing. When I went to the restroom, I was able to see all the apps everyone ordered and honestly they all looked divine. I got the ramen with plant based meat and it was okay. The broth was nice and rich but it definitely was missing something. Overall food was good and even though you order online, someone was checking on us often enough. Would definitely recommend!

Sandy C.

Yelp
Dinner with the family who had been here before. The restaurant has a "hip, young crowd vibe." We entered the restaurant, was asked twice (by the same person) how many in our party, ignored, then another person came over, asked us how many and that person proceeded to seat us. No menus are given, there is a QR code on the table that you scan with your phone. You can order as an individual or as a group. If you're not 100% tech savvy, it's confusing. (Thus, being hip & young is helpful.) All 4 of us ordered at the same time and within 1 group. The appetizers came out one at a time, even though they were all the same thing. Gyoza were good, not outstanding, in my opinion. Here's where it starts to go downhill. Three ( 2 adults, 1 child) mains come out right away. We waited a good 10 minutes for a "side" of chili to be brought to the table. We asked "servers" several times what the hold up was for the other 2 mains. Finally, about 10-15 minutes later, the 2 remaining ramens were delivered. Unfortunately, these two bowls were not the correct orders. Each bowl had specific add ons which were not added on. For my family that is local to SLC, this is a "go to" place for them. But, I think I will stay away from the "hip & trendy." The food was good, but the service has left a poor taste in my mouth.

Yelp
I had the American Shoyo. I can describe the taste in one word...salty. 2 very thin strips of salty brisket and less noodles than in a pack of $.98 cent ramen, $3 for a can of coke. You can only order and pay using a 3rd party app, which I did not like. If you come alone, they won't seat you at a table or booth, the bar is your only option. Noticed someone walking out after being told that. The place looks nice, but

Yelp
The founder is Japanese and it shows. The noodles were nice and firm, the broth was rich but not overstated, the egg was sublime, and the pork was just the right balance of firm and soft, meat and fat. Definitely the best bowl of ramen I've had in SLC. A little bit out of the way, and you have to use a Toast tab, but service is quick, so it's with a visit.

Yelp
What an awesome experience we had at Koyote for lunch today! Only hiccup was ordering online - suggestion - get on their WiFi- you'll need to ask for their password but it'll be quicker and easier! We needed a bit of help and Brian - who was host & server was a great help or we may be still sitting there! The service & food is really 5 stars! We started with the lotus root crisp - great dish a bit of salt & vinegar flavor and will order again! Pickled veggie was good too - it got the taste buds going! Classic ramen /. Good flavor soup - thin perfectly cooked noodles and charts & egg - great dish

Yelp
This was the best ramen I've had in a minute. The vibe is cool, the food is top tier. I liked everything I ordered. The lotus chips I probably won't get again. Just wasn't anything amazing. I got the spicy ramen. The only thing I didn't like is the ordering. You scan a QR code and that's how you pay. So they charge extra for things that other restaurants may just give complimentary. Like extra chili oil for example.

Yelp
Street parking available. Might be hard to find if cars are spaced out along the street. Train tracks are used often so make sure to time yourself for that closure if you have reservations or meeting with friends. Service is great! The host was incredibly helpful in explaining the ordering process. My only tip is to add in how to close out the bill via phone or same QR code maybe towards the end of a party's meal. It's confusing to decide whether to leave the tab open or have the option to close it out right away. Also, maybe offer the variety of alcohol options when customers sit as well. Huge bonus points to the whole team. I sat across from the bar so noticed a lot of strong communication in the front and back end. Lotus Root Chips - 10/10! Thinly crisped chips with a sweet and vinegar flavor. To be honest, I didn't taste the vinegar until the host mentioned it. I tasted more of a honey butter flavor. Definitely worth ordering. Whipped Tofu and Scallion Pancake Dip - 10/10!! The server had to explain how to eat it to me. I have never tasted an appetizer like this. So yummy! The whipped tofu actually has a consistency of hummus. The red chili oil in combo of the ground meat, whipped tofu - aromatics on point. This was hands down my favorite part of the meal. I actually saved some to bring home to snack on while working. Shout out to the Chefs! Original Ramen - I wish I loved this. The broth is delicious. The only con is it's on the saltier end for a ramen broth. The egg was perfect in every way. Not too salty with mild flavors to balance the ramen broth. They use the thin ramen noodles - 10/10 on the ramen noodle choice and perfecting the bouncy texture! Chashu..... not my favorite. Overall, Koyote is setting a high bar for Japanese cuisine lovers in SLC. I'll definitely be raving about the appetizers for a long time!

Yelp
Nestled in the middle of a residential street is Koyote ramen. Their ramen is definitely homemade from the hours of slow cooking the pork and brisket to hours long preparation fo the broth. No soup base out of a packet here. The smooth eggs have the longest prep time I know of for a ramen shop. Not feeling like ramen, they have other things like karage wings, crispy on the level of Korean wings. Try the seared but tender mackerel, boneless and full of flavor. For those with special diets, they have gluten free noodles and a variety of vegetable dishes. They also serve beer and wine. Ordering is a bit different your first time. Scan the QR code to order but you can opt to keep the tab open so you can order more, and you'll want to. Then at the end, you can close your check and pay.

Yelp
We came on a busy Saturday night but were seated within 5 minutes! You order and pay through the QR code at the table which was interesting! They suggest hopping on the WiFi as the signal was a bit iffy there. The broth for the shoyu was so flavorful! I didn't love the brisket as it was a bit salty and cold but the classic shoyu was delicious. I preferred the medium noodles over the thick noodles as it's more bouncy. I'll definitely be back to try the appetizers and the tonkotsu ramen!

Yelp
Really delicious! Picked this place for lunch today and it did not disappoint. Everything was extremely fresh and I loved the simple ingredients. I'm not a big fan of ramen, but got the Classic and will definitely order it again. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the chashu pork was so buttery. The chashu-don reminded me of pork oil rice I grew up eating in Taiwan. The fatty chunks of pork mixed with the sweet soy sauce was such a banger. The Sake-don was decent, the salmon tasted really fresh, and I particularly liked ume shiso paste but it didn't wow me. Lastly, the whipped tofu was the star of the show. I have never tasted anything like it before. Like I'm already a huge scallion pancake fan but now might need to add whipped tofu to everything. The dish is so well made, and I was really surprised at how delicious the mapo chili carried the dish. I will definitely be back for this one! Will mention everything is done through mobile, we had some slight hiccups ordering, paying, and making sure our order actually went through, but everything came out surprisingly fast.

Yelp
Loved the overall atmosphere. Felt like you stepped into a different world. The food was amazing. I can't stop talking about the flavor and planning my next visit. The service was fantastic everyone was very attentive and helpful. I can't recommend enough to try this place.

Yelp
Got suckered into the hype and had high expectations. We came on a Monday night and the Wait was long and parking limited. The restaurant was loud and busy. When we were finally seated in the booth the lamp from overhead felt like we were being interrogated. I also didn't like the lack of employee interaction. It's one thing to order everything through your phone and having the food come out quickly but its another to have to wait forever for your entree. We ordered the whipped tofu based on reviews and although it was different from anything we've had it before it was just okay. It did come out pretty soon after ordering. However our ramens came out nearly 45 minutes later. This was difficult because we had our toddler and she was getting antsy. So they clearly have some kinks to work out with the timing of the food which would also help with wait times for tables. And without a designated waiter we couldn't get accurate information on when our food was coming. I was underwhelmed by the ramen. There were hardly any veggies in it and the broth was overly salty and the portions small for the price. The bowl itself didn't look appetizing. My daughter's cheeks turned pink from all the sodium in her ramen. Although the kid's portion was cute. My husband enjoyed his veggie ramen overall though but agreed that the broth was way too salty. May try it again later but until then we will stick to other ramen restaurants instead.

Yelp
If you're expecting traditional sit down service this isn't the spot for it but that's not to say the service and the staff aren't phenomenal. Amazing experience indoors or outdoors for dining. Love the elements of the interior and the misters on the patio. I've yet to have anything here I don't like. Most recently I came back solely to get whipped tofu with extra scallion pancakes because there is nothing like this item in the whole valley, maybe even state. I've had the American in the past along with the Tonkotsu (pictured). You cannot go wrong here in my opinion and beyond grateful this place has made its home in SLC

Yelp
Worth the trip to this obscure NW neighborhood for the best ramen in town. Many additional options if you are not in the mood for ramen.

Yelp
Loved this place so much we found ourselves back here twice in a week! Such a great place to get a flavorful dinner. The service is great and while you do not order with servers, they are so so attentive. Cute place tucked away in a small neighborhood. The karage wings are to die for. The tender meat and salty seasoning pair perfectly together. The brisket don has such tender meat served on top of rice. Personally I wouldn't order the tonkotsu tsukemen again as it was way too salty for me. However that soy marinated egg is out of this world! Overall a great place, highly recommend getting there right as they open.

Yelp
Best ramen in SLC, but honestly their apps have stolen my heart. The whipped tofu is something I would have never ordered but my friend convinced me to try it, it's now one of my top favorite foods to get in all of Utah.
