"Hopsquad Brewery, located in North Burnet, launched this cocktail bar in late August. Specializing in agave spirits such as tequila, mezcal, sotol, and raicilla, the bar offers a combination of classic and unique cocktails, including the Xoco Boulevardier, a mix of Italian amaro, sweet vermouth, Wild Turkey Rye 101, and mole bitters. But don’t be shy from drinking your agave spirit straight up. The intimate setting features bright colors, exposed brick, and lush plants, creating a Mexican-inspired atmosphere. The latter is curated into flavor profile sections, such as the angustifolia (described as “robust, citrus, honey”) and the potatorum (“floral, tropical, citrus”). As for the cocktails, the Jules Juice is a bare-bones spritz made with Rey Campero Espadin mezcal, hibiscus tea, and lime juice, which is a nod to how Oaxacans sometimes mix mezcal with aguas frescas and lime juice in a pinch.
