Ordered a veggie calzone to go. Generous size and tasty, but it had olives in it, which are not listed on the ingredients. Ended up throwing it away because I detest olives. Very disappointing that they can’t follow their own recipe. Now, if I go back, I have to be the annoying customer who specifically requests that they don’t put something into the calzone that isn’t even on the menu.

I've been shopping here since November 2024. The customer service was amazing, and so was the food. Fast forward to today you guys lost an amazing employee and it shows in the food and the service I spent a lot of money in your establishment to now being treated as a criminal profiling me, following me through the store a paying customer since November 2024 to today. I only spend money when I'm showed respect, not by your tactics. Never will i ever step foot into your establishment again. This has happened twice now, and each time I walked out. Do better before there be a for lease in your store like others. Respect those who pay you. From a once loyal customer!!

I just had to show some love for my favorite place to get pizza. Living down the street, I always prefer to get my pepperoni pizza from here. Today I wanted some change and Chef Frank really took his time to make a fantastic, unique and absolutely delicious pizza for me. I decided I’d check out the bar while I wait for the pie and the bartender was great also. Such an amazing place to appreciate with a welcoming atmosphere. Thanks again Chef, this really was the best part of my long day. (: - Steph

Best little shop in East Village. Safe, secure, clean. Good variety for a little walk in shop. Great rotating beer and drinks selection and great liquor selection. The food to order is great. Staff is always friendly, helpful, and amazing.

Used Krisp to cater our baby shower and could’ve have been any happier with the food, the service and the kindness provided to us. We accidentally dropped a tray of food on the way out and they were more than accommodating to quickly prepare a new tray. Would recommend to everyone 10/10

*Finally* made it to Rovino the Foodery to use the generous gift card my cousin gave me. Anna from Sicily was amazing, totally helping me discern best options for my food plan! Food was super yummy -- spicy sausage and perfectly seasoned veggies. My partner had the meatballs, which was good since I choose not to currently (hence food plan) Grateful again for the very thoughtful gift!!🤗🇮🇹🤗

Google
A robust Italian market with snacks, pastas, sauces, spreads, pre-cooked meals, and wine. If you're sourcing some authentic Italian ingredients, check this place out! However, be prepared to drop some cash to get what you need. We came in under the influence of how they supposedly won "Best Sandwich in San Diego" the past 3 years. 2 out of 3 in our party got the winning sandwich and said it was nothing special though, so that was a bust. Sandwiches are subjective, so take that with a grain of salt. For 3 sandwiches and 3 drinks the total was $80. The gelato machine was out of order, so we couldn't soften the blow with that. Overall it was more than a bit steep for some SANDWICHES. Probably won't return to eat, but may come back to get some specialized grocery items.

Yelp
So sad The Foodery has closed, this was my go to sandwich place downtown. Unfortunately this is now a Krisp grocery store which still has great sandwiches, but they did switch the menu from the original Foodery.

Yelp
The service is friendly, no awkward smells, and their place is clean. This was my first time here and I craved a somewhat "authentic" sandwich. I got the caprese and prosciutto sandwich and thought the prosciutto was hard. I had to take it out completely because I couldn't bite through it. It lacked basil and vinaigrette. So it was dry and there was no reviving that. I would try it again but I would try something else.

Yelp
Opened in 2019 , I really enjoyed having this Italian grocery in the neighborhood. It was a great place to grab a nicer but still reasonable bottle of wine, a sandwich, pasta, sauce, and a great selection of cured Italian meats. This was our go-to place to pick up some guanciale for amatriciana and other dishes we make at home or an emergency chunk of Parmesan reggiano. They even had partnered with another local company to have a gelateria Inside. Unfortunately they have announced that they will be closing, and as of Jan 2024, it looks like it will be soon. I have heard that Krisp Beverages and Natural Foods will be moving in, but I am skeptical that they will carry some of the great unique options that Rovino had. East Village will miss you!

Yelp
Sandwich was amazing....but there were pieces of plastic and a huge piece of inedible fat in the sandwich. Would love to go back so long as they can fix this discrepancy.

Yelp
I love a good Italian market, and this place ranks among my favorites, which are in Pasadena and San Jose. At the Foodery they have a decent amount of hot and cold foods that are ready to be served, ranging from meatballs, pasta, and roasted veggies to olives, caprese salad, and artichokes. They have a pizza oven for your pizza-lover cravings, and they also have a deli so you can order sandwiches, meats, and cheeses, and all of their ingredients are fresh and premium. I ordered the Italian sandwich, which was stellar! Good portion, fresh ingredients, great flavor. I'd order it again after trying some of their other items. This being a market, you can also purchase packaged Italian goods and ingredients. I've never been to Italy but I'm betting this stuff is authentic. They look like they know what they're doing. And they're so friendly too! I'd love to return soon to take advantage of their happy hour at their bar.

Yelp
There's a lot happening inside this combination Italian market and restaurant in the East Village. Rovino The Foodery is pretty much a fully stocked grocery store with all the inventory they have. I made a visit with the intent of getting a pasta dish as a take-out order. Before I did so, I walked around the space to check out the various sections of the business. The restaurant was to the far right after you walked in from the Market St entrance. A service counter selling hot foods like pasta, pizza, and sandwiches was straight ahead. Deli meats were sold at this spot too. To the left was where items like breads, cheeses, dried noodles, sauces, and wines resided. A gelato station and dessert display counter were also in this part of the market. A few small tables were set up near the front window where you could sit and enjoy noshing on these sweet treats. For my order, I picked the Sugo di Costola which was made up of tomatoes, onions, garlic, red wine, and shredded braised short rib. The pasta shape I chose was the tagliatelle out of the four different choices. It took a good 15 minutes before my food was ready to go. The fresh pasta tasted great, and the sauce was quite savory even without the presence of the tender rib meat. Pricing is at a premium, however if you want convenience and high quality products, those who live in the neighborhood are lucky to have such a vendor in their midst.

Yelp
First time coming here, and I loved it! The store has everything! Fresh, hand made pasta, a dessert bar with fresh cannoli, a deli, etc! We ended up getting sandwiches, and they were soooo good! I highly recommend!

Yelp
I found myself in the neighborhood and thought I'd give it a try. It was my first time. I ended up ordering the L'italiano sandwich, and it was delicious--really tasty. The service was fast, and the atmosphere had great vibes overall.

Yelp
Figured it was time to finally write a review for this gem! We've now stopped here 3 times after walking passed it dozens of times on the way to Padres games. 1st stop: we stopped to check out their desserts and saw they had cannolis. Totally my weak spot since I looove homemade cannolis (thanks to my previous boss making them & getting them all the time in Boston) we picked up a pack of 4 mini mixed cannolis. Really appreciate that they pipe the whipped marscapone into the shells when you order them, so the shells don't get soggy! Pistachio is probably my fave with the plain runner up. 2nd trip: Comic-con weekend, we ordered a few sandwiches for our group. We got the Chicken Pesto. The pesto they use on the bread is so flavorful without being overwhelming the thin sliced chicken-I just looove it! They use fresh mozzarella so it has that light caprese taste to it. The best surprise were slices of roasted red pepper that just added to the flavor of the sandwich. Bread was nice and crusty on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Delicious! We also got the Chicken Club. Flavorful with the chicken, turkey, bacon, Swiss & avocado. I was blown away with how the sandwich didn't fall apart like so many "club" style sandwiches do from other places. We cut up the 4 sandwiches and shared them between 6 of us so we could each try some. We also got full sized cannolis this time and cut those up to share too. Chocolate, pistachio & original--just as delicious as the minis! 3rd trip: Cue last night, after a Padres game. The hubby & I took a detour to pick up a sandwich. Got the Chicken Pesto again (I might be obsessed now) and while I was waiting for the sandwich, I got a good look at their deli section. had to get a small container of the assorted antipasto olives (another weakness of my hubby's) They had different salads in there that I will def try another time (caprese looked so good!) Plus there was a hot food section that had some decadent looking meatballs & pasta (again another time!) After we left, we were about a block away when my hubby dropped the bag our food was in, and the container of olives went flying out and onto the sidewalk. Cue my horrified face, as it popped open and we lost ALL of the olives. I seriously thought the hubby was gonna cry (lol) We went right back and got more. Of course we paid for another container since it was totally our fault, and the guy there (maybe the manager? He was wearing a Trevor Hoffman jersey so extra props for that--didn't get to tell him that we went to see Hoffman get inducted in Cooperstown in 2016) well, he was super nice and sympathetic to us. An extra thanks to him!! Service was stellar each time, they have a small market with wine, snacks, deli, baked goods, basically everything! We will def be back to try more stuff & will keep recommending to everyone. If you are downtown this is a MUST GO before and after a game ;) The Foodery now has fans from NorCal, Texas & Canada too (our friends that come in for comic-con every year) Only pic I have are the cannolis from our 1st time that we took into a Padre game. All the other times we were too busy eating the delicious goodness :)

Yelp
RoVino The Foodery, where have you been all my life? This was a little Italian Disneyland for me. I love to cook and this place was speaking to my heart! They sell ingredients and food that I just couldn't say no to. Let's start off with what I bought to cook with. Fresh fettuccine pasta, canned cherry tomatoes, triple concentrate tomato paste, anchovy paste, fresh and jarred Calabrian chiles and homemade ricotta. Man, I definitely wasn't shopping at my local grocery store. I was very satisfied with everything I purchased. Let's talk pizza and pasta. My favorites on the food pyramid. Creamy pesto pasta and margherita pizza. I don't have a name, but a very friendly guy in the kitchen saw my eyeing this pasta and gave me an entire bowl to sample. This was not a Costco sized sample, this was dinner. The pasta was rich and creamy with a nice balance of basil from their fresh, made in house pesto. I'll take 2 pounds of that please. Margherita pizza, a classic that RoVino has mastered. A crispy coal charred crust that Dave Portnoy would love. The dough is homemade, cheese on top was fresh mozzarella, the tomato sauce is made in house and I'm pretty sure they use San marzano tomatoes for this and what really stood out was the A+, high quality, top shelf, top notch, Ina Garten "really good", olive oil they drizzled on top. Try the pizza. My mouth is watering writing this. From the spectacular service, the items they offer for sale and some delicious food they're cooking up in the kitchen, RoVino The Foodery is well worth a visit. I have an entire grocery list written down for the next time I visit. Check out this little piece of Italy next time you're in the area.

Yelp
Disappointed that dogs (of all sizes and degrees of cleanliness) are allowed in here. This is a deli for freaks sake. And dogs are encouraged to jump and lean with their filthy paws (San Diego streets) against the counter. And no, I am not making it up. I get it - it's hard to attract customers in California these days with no tourists. Well, you definitely lost one. I should probably call for a sanitary inspection. :(

Yelp
It is blissful to visit this store. They have good quality Italian goods and a great wine collection. I love the fresh burrata and the uncooked gnocchi. Highly recommend the same! The coffee is amazing too! The desserts are a little overpriced unfortunately:(

Yelp
At night when my husband and I have had a long day he will ask what do you want to do for dinner and I always say "let's go to my kitchen!" Which is Krisp on Market St. This is the best place to come in and sit in the bar area and relax and order a cocktail or excellent glass of wine from Jose or Rudy! Best customer service! Then when you're ready for lunch or dinner go up to the counter and choose from a large selection of cold and hot foods. Peter will help with picking out what you want. Yousef is the manager and what great customer service! He is constantly watching every part of the store to see if anyone has any questions or needs help. Krisp is the new name and will be going up soon. We live close by so we go in for so many items. They have great premade salads, soups, sushi and so much more!!! Also, 20% off when you buy 3 bottles of wine. When I have my grandson (10) we always go in to get dessert. He loves their ice cream and loves picking out candy! Charman is also an employee and she's so friendly and helpful! This place reminds me of Cheers show where "Everyone knows your name!"

Yelp
It's nice to have a a store + eatery combo in East Village offering Italian fresh pastas, sauces, specialty ingredients, snacks, alcohol - the whole gamut (aside from fresh veggies & meats). There is also a hot foods section selling prepared items such as meatballs, sandwiches, pastas, and tri-tip on certain days of the week. It's a one stop shop for your needs to make or plate an Italian meal, down to the wine. RoVino The Foodery also includes a pastry & gelato shop, to the far left of the entrance. There's an array of pastry, desserts, and gelato for any sweet tooth craving. If you can't decide on a single flavor, they also have gelato flights.. I had gotten a pint of Madagascar Vanilla gelato to go before; service was great and the gelato was decent. My favorite part of RoVino The Foodery is their bar and happy hour. The bar is nestled in the right corner of the shop and they're open limited hours: 3pm - Close (9pm). My first time here for happy hour, it was full - every table and bar seat was taken. I had gone back another time and it was pretty quiet. Both were weekend days, so I guess you never know if you get a table until you get there as they have limited seating due to the size of the bar area. I usually get the Polpette (meatballs) as they're pretty good, especially if you just want a to-go order to take home and add some pasta for a quick meal. Although usually good, it will vary as there are times I got them and they were smaller and not as tasty as other times. I guess it just depends on who makes them? Some consistency would be good. I'd skip the fried artichoke hearts - they're bland and not anything like the fried artichokes in Italy. From the handful of times I've been to the bar, service varies based on who is staffed at the bar. There were a couple of times where someone from the hot foods section came over to take my order for wine and appetizers, since no one was specifically stationed at the bar at the time. Most of the times I've been there, Jeremy has been bartending and he's awesome. I've had good conversations and great service every time Jeremy tends bar. The food (appetizer) options for the bar area are small bites such as meatballs, fried artichoke hearts, charcuterie board, etc. it's from the foods that they sell in the shop or at the hot food station. Aside from the glasses of wine available at the bar, you can opt to buy any bottle the shop sells and enjoy that at the bar area (no corkage fee). It's nice to have a place like this in East Village.

Yelp
Italian grocery with hot food, gelato, pastries and a small selection of wine. I purchased some baked goods which were horrible. The cuatro leches cake was lacking texture, flavor and moistness. The blueberry muffin was nasty. Overly sweet with some blueberries that insulted my tastebuds. Growing up poor, I was reminded of the boxed blueberry muffin mix my mother would buy at Vons for 59 cents. The dehydrated blueberries tasted similar. Not the nostalgic feeling that I was looking for. 1 star for bakery. I did try a huge $3 meatball that was amazing in the deli section. Served hot and is almost worth coming back for alone. The rest of the products in the store are marked up slightly above the norm.

Daniel G.

Yelp
Really unfortunate to say this place has gone down hill from what it once was. It looks like original owners sold and it is now more of a small market. The pre made meals were great before and now the pasta tastes like tomato soup sauce with tons of salt. It's dirty in there and just completely lost what it was once good at...
google avatar

Yelp
I love going to Rovino for a quick Italian grocery run and because of their selections here. However, I just learned they just started adding a 3% surcharge for cc transactions and they ask for tips at checkout.... for ringing you up....? Doesn't make sense. It's just one of those places that shove additional charges to their customers...

Yelp
I can't show our empty plates. That would be rude but the pizza, meatball, vodka pasta, eggplant Parmesan , garlic bread were some of the best my husband and I have ever had! The staff was so warm and friendly. We just enjoyed the whole experience. Rudy is on his game running around this place and Frank in the kitchen... Fogget about it!!

Yelp
Fantastic turkey sandwich. Quick service and great atmosphere. Cool little Italian market. Bravo! They also have little tables to eat and plugs to charge phones, computers etc
google avatar

Yelp
This spot is downtown and hard to find parking. It's nice inside the spot it feels welcoming. The staff was busy and inattentive. The food was barely warm but would be good warmed up. I was expecting more like the food hot, on plates and being able to sit and enjoy. Instead it was in to go containers.

Yelp
EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE! I was strolling around the market apparently talking (to myself) out loud what I wanted to make for my girls dinner when Chef Frank overheard. He asked me a couple of questions and asked me to come back 30 min later. Look at this! As delicious as it is beautifully prepared.
google avatar

Veronica H.

Yelp
I was eager to stop by and see everything they had to offer (Instagram posts are very eye catching). I decided to get some of their hot food, jam, crackers and some cheeses. I just wish their cold cut meats section included more prosciutto portions or even freshly cut one. Every time we have stop by the cashiers are very friendly. The layout, the food selection etc. Is as if you were in Italy.

Kristee S.

Yelp
Devastated. This was my favorite Italian market, now it's nothing more than a corner store. So sad.

Yelp
Being Italian from New York now living in Los Angeles there are definitely many things I miss. And markets like this are one of them. After visiting the Gas Lamp District this past weekend my girlfriend knew I would love some Italian goods so she found me this place. So I came in twice. Each morning for some coffee, made by different baristas each day, but both made really well. And my last stop, making sure to try their Cannolis. Now obviously I have yet to find any authentic or close enough in Los Angeles so I'm always iffy about trying other places. Their Cannoli cream is good. Not the best. But still good in it's own. So made sure to buy a few shells and cream for home. Over all, pretty good place. Friendly baristas, the other employees I walked past that didn't greet me, not so much. Looking forward to giving them another try next visit for their food.

Yelp
Love love love. The best! People, vibe, libations, food, specialties and of course the love in the food!

Yelp
Nice place for the area but inferior to a little Italy offerings. Italian hoagie had good meats on an okay roll. The grocery offerings were somewhat interesting. If you are in the nabe, then I'd give it 4 stars.

Yelp
One of the best eatery/ Italian market/ bar ever. This place has it all, a one stop shop. You will find authentic Italian grocery products awesome pastas, cheeses and sauces. There's even a kitchen there that serves fresh hot Italian food from pizza to pasta to meatballs. We ordered the lasagna and fettuccine... both to die for. They also have prepackaged pasta meals to go. The pesto and sausage plus pasta with vodka sauce, a must buy!!! Omg!!! Not to mention they have a dessert cafe section, in which, has coffee, gelatos and pastries made in house. The lemon bars plus carrot cake slice are delightful. There are so many delicious treats/ food items to try. The only downside was the customer service/ cashier she wasn't very pleasant. However the individuals at the pastry checkout and food order bar were awesome. Will return again in the near future

Yelp
This is hands down one of the best Italian delis! It's a hidden gem that's definitely underrated. Whenever I'm in San Diego, I make it a priority to stop here to grab some food. I highly recommend to order the Italian meatballs, scallop potatoes, and the Piccante Siciliano sandwich! The meatballs are full of flavor and you can eat 100 of these! The scallop potatoes are covered in a creamy delicious white sauce with mushrooms and zucchinis. Now for the highlight.... The Piccante Siciliano sandwich. The bread is soft and the chili aioli brings everything together! I've had similar sandwiches at other Italian deli's but this is my favorite one. I promise you won't be disappointed to stop by at The Foodery and grab yourself a high quality Italian sub with sides!

Yelp
If I could give them 10 stars I would! After the padres game we walked in literally at 9:00 which is the time they close. Even though they had already put some things away they still made us a custom pizza! The pizza was amazing! The chef made it w. So many toppings! They even let us eat inside even though it was closed! Love this place and I'll be back!
google avatar

Boo M.

Yelp
Highway robbery if you ask around. The prices on all of their items are way over charged! The food that is served is below a real Italian experience. I will never come back here again. Mainly because of their prices

Yelp
RoVino is a cute Italian market near Petco park. They have a great selection of groceries and homemade products (ready made foods, bread, desserts, etc). Their homemade sirloin meatballs are absolutely delicious - the best meatballs I've ever had! They're super soft, very flavorful, and filling. They're $3 each and worth every penny. Several of the reviews mentioned tiramisu, so I grabbed that as well. There was a gentleman making a new batch from scratch and he told us they make tiramisu everyday. I got the large size for $15 (smaller portions are available in their dessert section for $10/slice) to share with my family and everyone loved it! Similar to the meatballs, some of the best tiramisu I've ever had. The consistency and taste were perfectly balanced - soft and lightly sweet with lovely espresso and cocoa flavors. Service was great as well, everyone was happy to help and a pleasure to chat with. I will definitely be back and highly, highly recommend to others!

Yelp
My husband and I wanted some ice cream and found this place right down the street after eating dinner at Beshock. I got a lemon bar and a chocolate thumb print cookie, my husband got cookies and cream and salted Carmel gelato. He said they tasted great mixed together. My pastries were also delicious. The store was so cute, they also have a full bar and a tables to grab some food. Looked like a cute spot for date night. Hoping to visit again in the near future.

Yelp
I walked into the eating house obviously looking lost and Anna warmly welcomed me in with a beautiful smile. I explained to her that I was scouting in ahead of my family of 5 as they wait in the car and I continued to tell her I was looking for a clean place that offered a variety of options for us to comfortably eat. Anna showed me the menu, named a few suggestions and showed me where we'd sit. I grabbed my family and Anna served us with a great attitude being patient with our 3 children. We ordered Alfredo, pepperoni pizza, and lasagna. It was delicious and fresh. I'm glad we found this place. We were able to get in and out.

Yelp
RIP my paychecks because this place is about to take all my money. We are new to San Diego and this absolute gem of a spot is on our block. They have everything you could ever want from fresh sandwiches, pasta and pizza to a wide variety of alcohols, prepared meals, a dream of a charcuterie selection, all the pasta elements and if that wasn't enough, beautiful gelato. While their market selection is extensive they also have an adorable indoor and outdoor seating area for dining. My favorite thing might be the daily 3pm-close happy hour that includes both alcohol and food. Such an awesome casual spot.

Yelp
The food is excellent in the deli. Each occasion I tried to find a parking space or park in the pay lot a few blocks away (100% full). They used to have a phone number and I would call and receive curbside service. Now no phone number as I wanted to order meals, pizza to go. If I can't park I can't wait as there is no location to wait. This is the 2nd occasion I tried to purchase at the Foodery. I order sandwiches, pizza to go and they are busy they need prep time.

Yelp
The sandwich I received today was drenched and unpleasant. Despite being a regular customer for the past 2 1/2 years I've lived across the way, the quality of the veggie sandwich at The Foodery has been inconsistent. On multiple occasions, I have received sandwiches with missing veggies, which is unacceptable considering the high price of $15! Initially, I was not informed of the missing veggies until I returned home and had to come back to the store. Now, I make sure to ask beforehand if they have all the veggies listed. Today, they were missing spinach and cucumbers, but since there is only ONE vegetarian option, I ordered it anyway. The female manager was rude and showed no sincerity or apology for the poor quality of the sandwich. When made correctly, the sandwich is delicious, but unfortunately, the inconsistency makes it difficult to know what to expect. Several people in my building have had similar experiences. I recommend checking your sandwich before leaving to avoid having to return multiple times, as I have done.

Yelp
I ordered the thanksgiving meal for 4. What we got was so disappointing. The stuffing was 10 lbs of mush, nothing but soggy bread. The vegetable was cream corn with a weird herb flavor all over it. (no greens), the potatoes separated and leaked water, no yams or sweet potatoes (the best part). The Turkey and cranberry were delicious. $118 isn't a bad price but the quality of there side dishes was equivalent to the refrigerated meals you buy from the grocery store. Bleh. I love the restaurant and thought the quality of this food would be as good....they said the food would be warm when I picked it up. We had a scheduled pick up time for that purpose only. It was all cold. Big bummer.

Yelp
If you have not been here in a while, do visit between 5-6 pm, as I may have just been lucky, but two Wednesdays straight, I walked in as they were bringing fresh rotisserie chicken out of the ovens and it is by the best I have had and the best in town! I also tried their Tri-Tip and it was great also. The wings are good too and I have found this place convenient when I need something quick, given I live downtown.

Yelp
This place is amazing!!! I got the vodka sauce pasta and sausage and peppers. I was simply amazed by how good it was. I wish I would have gotten a picture but I couldn't wait another second to dig in. I look forward to more Sundays going in there for some good Italian eats. Plus the woman that helped us was so nice.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this hidden gem in Little Italy San Diego. I walked into this place and was greeted by several employees. It looks like a market that is filled with many different types of Italian cuisines. There is one section of sandwiches, desserts, wine, various sorts of Italian groceries, and premade salads. There was also a section of Italian imported deli meat like prosciutto and you can order a sandwich to be made. In addition there is a section of gelato and bakery items for purchase. Definitely coming back to this location to get more fresh baked goods. And will be trying there homemade pastas and sandwiches.

Yelp
I loved loved this place but I can't say the same after today's experience. The staff is friendly , it's international cafe style with indoor dining, pizza, craft beer and seltzer's. What happened today unfortunately happens to a lot of small businesses. As a business owner I am standing up to FRAUD theft. I bought 3 items 1) sangria seltzer 2) kove seltzer and macaroni. The gentleman from the deli ran to ring me up. He was a short Hispanic gentleman with black hair dark skin and a goatee. The total was $18 something I gave him my card. I waited. He handed it back and took 5$ from the register. I waited because I need itemized receipts for taxes. He asked if I needed the receipt I said yes. He said F*** under his breath and handed me a receipt that said 1$. I realized this as I left the store and turned back. I asked the same gentleman for the itemized. He then pretended he didn't know what he did with it BUT I KNEW he took the receipt and crumbled it WITH the FIVE dollars. He dug through the trash and then asked me the total. I said $18 , he said NO it was $13 (I have a business I know numbers) he asked me to give back the items so he can ring them up again. I refused I asked for the receipt to be pulled from the register. If you look at my recipes he didn't ring up one of the seltzer's. I think that's how he was able to steal. I spoke to a young lady and let her know I witnessed him take $ from the register. She seemed surprised. I'm my experience employees like this will steal and steal small amounts and larger until they get caught. Will I return : no Would I recommend: no My advice for the business: do background checks And check your cameras My advice for patrons : check your CC statements regularly for fraud and keep itemized copies of receipts.

Yelp
Caro RoVino, NOTE: I did not use the bar area, but just walked through during a break, as well as ordered the meatballs (with tomato sauce). Could be four or five stars. Wish the Italian market were bigger (seemed to have a lot of prepared food). Not complaining, though. Great place! Thank you for adding your Italian presence in another location downtown; I really appreciate the authentic market. Best wishes, Anna

Yelp
I came here after getting off the coaster train to get food before a museum and I chose this place because of the amazing Yelp reviews. I was disappointed, maybe I ordered the wrong things but I ordered a carmel cheesecake slice and their fresh pesto tortellini olive deli salad and both didn't have much flavor or the right flavor and the calories weren't worth it. If I would have known this I would have gone somewhere else to eat. It wasn't cheap either. It seems like a better place if you're local to grab a water, chips, groceries, alcohol. I didn't take a photo sorry. This review was about the food only. The staff/service and ambiance were fine.

Yelp
We have bought pasta and bread there- really good. Today we ate at the hot food area.. omg disgusting! I'm so so sad. I got veggie lasagna and eggplant. I felt like they put all the left overs in it.. carrots pees huge onions.. and this was in both the lasagna and eggplant. It was seriously bad, I couldn't eat it and I eat EVERYTHING. My spouse got bow ties with shrimp Alfredo. Cafeteria like at best. I'm so saddddd! I wanted to love it. EDIT: my wife was sick all night. We will never return

Yelp
Overpriced and under flavored. I live a few blocks away and I've tried this place a few times. I walk in because it's so nice, and I WANT to like it, but I walk out disappointed often. This place is a mix of eat in, take out and a grocery store. They have a little bit of everything that's Italian. They are known for their sandwiches and I'd stick with that. Maybe get some of the hard to find imported staples. Much of the take out looks good but it's way overpriced and inconsistent with flavor. I'll start with the positives: get the sandwich, get the refrigerated pre-made food (but look at the date!), go for the unusual staples on the shelves (at an incredible markup). Avoid: the menu pastas. They are insanely overpriced and not that great. And, they serve linguini with marinara? What an odd noodle choice. The meatballs are just ok, really, they are a little heavy on breadcrumbs in the mix and I bet it's to save money on the meat and make it stretch. The gelato is often "old", they let it sit for too long and don't swap with fresh batches. The desserts look good but just taste ok. Pasta sauce- meh. The tricky part is that everything looks good here. The people are nice. But I have found very few good items here and nothing is at a reasonable price. Maybe have fewer items and focus on the quality at a better price.... It's nice to have a place like this in the neighborhood but it's just so disappointing.

Yelp
I was really happy to see Rovino open and busy serving customers during this time but with all safety protocols in effect and nice outdoor seating. The very courteous and professional manager, Rose, recommended their pizza. I added a side of a large sausage(with onions/peppers). The Pizza and sausage turned out to be the best I've had all year. The Calabrese pizza had capicola, pepperoni and capresean oil giving it a phenomenal taste. Service and bottle opening by Vanessa was also excellent. I washed down the feast with a real Italian Aranciata Rossa(blood orange soda)super delicious. They also have a large selection of Italian groceries, pastas, beers, wines. There is even a gelato/ice cream bar and bakery with cheesecake, cannolles and fudge brownies. Of course, a coffeebar with real Italian espresso completes this great destination for all foods/drinks Italian in downtown San Diego. Do not pass up going here if you love Italian cuisine and are in San Diego.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. Hands down some of the best cannoli's I've had since leaving NY. I just love walking around the store because it makes me feel like I need to travel to the old country. Picture it Sicily 1895 ( in my Golden Girls Sophia voice). Looking forward to trying other great dishes and desserts. I almost forgot, those Almond Cookies tho'.

Yelp
Rovino's new The Foodery is sure going to be a huge hit downtown San Diego. I mean a market with terrific imported Italian products, coupled with an in house eatery sporting regional Italian specialties, it sure to leave a mark on a good way. I had the Margherita pizza for $15. Its crust was of a Roman Style. It was a little thicker and crisper than a Neopalitan crust for sure. My crust was a little over done and had a dry texture. The pizza tasted good, but sat to long at the pass before it made it to me. When I saw it sitting there, I was hoping it was not mine, but it was. As a result, it was not as warm as it should of been. Also, it's overall size was smaller than most. At $15, they need definitely need to increase the size. They carry a lot of great products. The Foodery offers gelato, desserts, pastas, and a collection of great wines. You can also get a pretty good Italian sandwich here to. For my beverage, I ordered a cafe au lait, and specifically told the girl at the counter I wanted the coffee in a mug or porcelain cup because I was having my meal in house, but what do they do? Serve it in a to go cup. All they had to do was remake me a new one, but all I git was oops, I'm sorry. Service was organized chaos on opening day. It took 40 minutes for my pizza, but the people were nice. No doubt, opening day gitters. I do expect better from them.
