"Kristiania Lech Located in Austria ’s Arlberg region just five minutes from the slopes, the village of Lech seems to stand still in time, and hotel Kristiania Lech offers a glimpse of the past. Founded by 1952 Oslo Winter Olympic Slalom gold medalist Othmar Schneider, the hotel is now overseen by his daughter, Gertrud. The rustic property is not only a stylish Alpine getaway, but also a culinary destination. From the warm atmosphere of the Kaminzimmer, a reception area with fireplace and chess set, to the lounge and restaurants, there’s a relaxed sort of opulence that makes Kristiania both homey and luxurious. Rooms have a warm, cozy ambience, perfect for resting after an active day in the snow. Individually styled rooms mix modern and rustic flair, some with a vintage 1950s or ’60s feel, though never feeling dated. The hotel is only open during ski season (December–April) and fills up early, so book well in advance."

Just back from 5nts here. Rooms were nice, food was amazing. However the best thing about the hotel is the staff. Each and every one, in every department, is outstanding. Not a single weak staff member among them. They all genuinely want you to have the best time there. Full credit to whoever is in charge of staff training!|Breakfasts were great at setting us up for the day. We had snacks and drinks in the bar in the afternoon. We ate dinner in the main restaurant which was faultless. We had cheese fondue one night - won’t spoil the surprise, but if you have time you must try it! Have had so many over the years but this was very different, and great! We wouldn’t normally pay attention to the crockery and glassware in any hotel, and it seems so strange to mention it, but it has all been handpicked like pieces of art - remarkable really. Highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed there for 7 nights. Overall experience was positive. Was at one of the suites at the top floor. However a few issues which I struggled to understand how it happened, which in the absence of, they would have been a five star. 1. Chair lift starts at 830am. Their breakfast service only start at 8am. So that would be a crazy rush for early skiers, even if they finish up breakfast in 15 mins (hotel is not on the slope). While they offer a free shuttle to chairlift location, that will still take some time. 2 breakfast service will start to clog up if there are more than 5-6 tables of guests. Insufficient service staff leads to delayed breakfast service. It took an average of 40-45 minutes before my breakfast coffee, starter, main and side dishes to arrive from time of order (at 8:10am). 3. Hotel requires a 50pcr deposit upfront. All good and this was paid 6 months in advance when I made the booking. However on check out, they were not able to track down my 50 pct deposit payment and slipped me a bill for the full accommodation bill (as though I had not paid the 50pct prepayment) I had to dig out my credit bill from months ago (thankfully I had it all on the cloud), and showed them the exact date of such 50pct deposit payment date. They took about 1 hour to finally retrieve their bank records, and confirmed I had indeed paid the deposit months. By the time it was all sorted, it was 1 hour and 20 minutes since the time I initiated the check out. Otherwise, overall stay experience was good. Halfbroad offering was also good.

This hotel is a top notch ski hotel. We stayed 4 nights and I am really empressed how they are taking care of each guest. From check in until check out you feel you are a part of the hotel. So kind staff, excellent food, big and comfortable rooms with fresh flowers. Thank you for everything, I will recommend to everyone.

I could not have enjoyed our stay at Kristiania any more. We were so surprised that April was quiet, as it is simply the BEST time to go! We had fresh snow and glorious sunshine over Easter weekend. The hotel feels like checking in at your chicest friends place in the Alps, super cool, charming interiors and confident staff. Food to die for and the barman makes the best pisco sour I've ever tasted! Really can't wait to be able to go back.

My son and I stayed at the Hotel for three days. The staff was excellent, really excellent, superb. The food was mostly excellent, I had one meal that was OK but the other meals were memorable especially the vegetables which were uniquely prepared. And the views. In town is a little busy, this hotel is located a short walk away from town and is very quiet. Below is a picture of the postcard like view from my room.|The hotel has a comfortable atmosphere.

I have been staying at the Kristiania for quite a few years now and it never fails to deliver. A beautiful hotel which veers between traditional and contemporary. Gertrud the owner has a wonderful eye for contemporary art, which she dovetails brilliantly with more traditional style.|The staff are second to none, simply cannot do enough for you. From transporting you around the resort, organising skis, trips to spas, booking instructors, to cooking you something off menu. The food is always first class at the Kristiania, always lots of choice and all impeccably prepared. If you would like something specially cooked, they are only too happy to do this. My son and I had the most delicious locally produced shrimp I have ever tasted and I asked if we might have it with spaghetti the following evening for supper. The cook duly prepared us the most fantastic dish which I can only describe as historic. ||I cannot recommend the Kristiania more and as Gertrud likes to say "We are a home from home", I think it is so much more.||

This is our fourth visit to the wonderful Kristiania in Lech. Nestled just outside the main hubbub of the town, the Kristiania is a warm, cosy and welcoming home from home after a day spent skiing in the mountains. The Kristiania mixes traditional Tyrolean decor and designs with eye catching and stunning contemporary works of art. What makes this hotel stand out though is its staff who are all, without exception, fabulous. You are greeted with warm smiles wherever you go and everybody is keen to make sure you have the very best holiday possible. The rooms are nicely designed, spacious and very comfortable. We stayed in room 19 this time with separate bathroom and WC and gorgeous views over the mountain. We have always particularly loved the bar at the Kristiania; it’s very large, warm and sumptuous full of squishy sofas and armchairs to curl up in. The Boot Camp is great too; big, warm and very well equipped. Because the hotel is situated slightly out of town, the Kristiania provides a complimentary shuttle service and this works very well.||So, why the four stars instead of five this time? We were served milk with our afternoon tea in the bar one afternoon from a dirty jug with old coffee swimming around in it. This hadn’t been noticed by the staff but was quickly removed and replaced when we pointed it out. We were also served completely flat champagne in the bar one evening which the barman had also not noticed. We appreciate these are minor points and very ‘first world’ but this is a hotel aiming for the very best service and we felt it slightly misfired this time. We also came back to our room at the end of a whole day’s skiing one day and the room had not been cleaned. We asked the Reception staff for it to be cleaned and sat in the bar for an hour while that happened. Again, not a big problem but we would have preferred to have gone straight to the room to shower and relax. Turn down service was a little hit and miss too and didn’t happen on a couple of evenings. I should point out though that when Housekeeping did come, the room was cleaned to a very high standard and we had absolutely no complaints whatsoever. The beds, pillows, towels, robes and slippers are all extremely comfortable and appreciated after a long day’s skiing.||We felt breakfast was a little expensive too at around 45 euros per person although we understand the world is a very expensive place right now so others may have a different opinion. The egg on my husband’s breakfast rosti was overcooked one morning though and the fish in the same dish very oily. He ordered a mushroom omelette on the second morning and the plate was very oily indeed which didn’t look nice when it arrived and the mushrooms were on the side not inside the omelette. I also ordered the bircher muesli on the first morning but was given hot porridge instead. As before, none of these things are major issues but just minor comments and feedback for a hotel of this calibre. ||We are very fond of the Kristiania and would recommend it. Although we personally had a few minor issues this time, we understand these things happen and still think it’s an absolutely super place to stay. Thank you everyone for another wonderful break in Lech and hope to see you again.
