The 22 Best Restaurants in Marrakech, Morocco | Eater

"While most of Marrakech’s riads operate as bed and breakfasts, Ksar Essaoussan supplies only the edible portion of that equation. The petit a la carte dinner menu will satisfy anyone with an average appetite, but ambitious eaters may want to tuck into the prix fixe. The seven-course experience includes hefty portions of two types of b’stilla pies (a meat version and a dessert version), two seasonal tagines, and couscous. Unlike many medina restaurants, Ksar Essaoussan also has wine to enjoy with your meal. The entrance can be difficult to find, but when you book a reservation, the restaurant will send out a helpful staff member to escort you to the front door. [$$ - $$$]" - Amanda Ponzio-Mouttaki

Wonderful resturant, with a beautiful interior. The staff are charming, but work at a very slow tempo. The food portions are also very large. We ordered a dinner set menu and were already full after the starters. Book in advance and book for an earlier time, because they work slowly those that book a table after 9 normally stay there until midnight.

We had the most amazing dinner tonight at this beautiful, old fine dining restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the gorgeous interior decor and timeless charm made us feel like we were somewhere truly special. The service was impeccable—our waiter, Mubarak, went above and beyond to make the evening perfect. Every detail was attended to with grace and professionalism, making us feel both welcomed and valued. The food was nothing short of outstanding—beautifully presented, rich in flavor, and served with a ceremonious touch that made the experience unforgettable. This is not just a meal; it’s an occasion. If you’re looking for somewhere that combines history, elegance, and culinary excellence, this is it.

Excellent Moroccan tajins, couscous, beef, chicken, salads and old school desserts. The service is outstanding by our waiter Mubarak and the atmosphere is old school Marrakesh and very chic and classy. It's hard to get to but worth it for sure. A+++

The place really was very beautiful and well maintained, and the server was very friendly however the service was sooooooo slow, I've never had worse. They took more than 30 minutes with every course, even bringing us the menu card took them 10 minutes. And then another 10 minutes and they took the order and then another 10-15 minutes with the drinks. The olives were the best thing served that night so u should hold on to them to cleanse your palate. The starters were very bland and all were cold, so I don't know what took them so long (there were like 5 other tables occupied). The main course was alright, we had the lemon chicken tagine, the sauce was fine but the chicken had a tough meaty flavour. The desserts were fine. The mint tea was nice (sweet) though the petite four were also just stale biscuits that seemed to be out of a packet. For the price the food was just horrible and the service really slow. Tho 3 stars for our server who seemed to be the only one working that night. (Forgot to take pictures of the food, sorry!)

I had a wonderful experience at Ksar Essaoussan. This gorgeous 16th century riad has been elegantly transformed into a restaurant, offering a truly magical setting. The service is excellent, but the real star of the evening is the food it’s an experience you won’t forget. I chose the full menu and do not regret it one bit. Be sure to come with a hearty appetite because a feast awaits you. Highly recommended!

A great spot for rich history and a romantic dinner. The setting is truly beautiful and the food/ service are stellar. It is all set menu and we chose the smaller set menu, which was still a lot of food. My partner's pastilla was perfect and my tagine was excellent. Service was top notch. Highly recommended for a quiet date night inside an historical building.

Just WOW!! My friend and I were so beyond impressed with this place. It’s in a riad at the end of an alleyway behind a small, easy to miss door, but the inside is intricate and gorgeous. We picked the smallest set menu, however were so happily full at the end we almost didn’t have room for dessert! The meal is more expensive than your standard Marrakech restaurant but for the amount of food you get, the drinks which are included, and the outstanding service and atmosphere I would say it’s worth. Probably one of the most memorable and tasty meals i’ve had in my life. Everything from the veggie appetisers to the chicken tagine as our main to the mint tea to our crispbread and cakes for dessert were exceptional. My preference is always to try new places but I will definitely be back here if i’m ever in Marrakech again. Thanks guys for the stellar experience!

This was probably our favorite meal in Marrakech! Don’t be thrown by the “suspect” entrance - the food and service was amazing! Youssef provides great service and interesting facts about the building. Most importantly, the food was amazing - all the way through from appetizers to dessert. Great view from the rooftop too. Cannot recommend this place enough!
