Kub Kao - Review - Greenpoint - New York - The Infatuation

"This Greenpoint spot brings an extensive menu of pan-regional Thai noodle dishes, curries, and more to the former Sama Street space. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Molly Fitzpatrick

New thai place in the neighborhood did not disappoint! All the food was delicious and perfectly made. The calamari was one of the best I've ever had. Spicy and tangy with a unique flavor! No complains on any of the main dishes. Khao soi noodles were great and very spicy!

Okay, let's talk about this Thai place we just tried. We were that table. You know the one—where the server's eyes go a little wide when you decide to bypass the "pick two" logic and just point at almost the entire appetizer section of the menu. In short: It was a glorious, delicious, and utterly justified decision. We basically turned the beginning of our meal into a full-on culinary parade, and here’s the scoop on the starring acts: The Fried Wontons: An absolute must-order. These weren't an afterthought; they were a masterclass in crunch. Each delicate, golden parcel was perfectly crispy and stuffed with a savory-sweet pork filling. With just the right dip in the sweet and sour sauce, they were pure, bite-sized perfection. And for the main event, the Pad Thai: This was the headliner that absolutely delivered. A massive plate arrived, steaming and piled high with those perfectly chewy rice noodles. It wasn't cloyingly sweet, but had this incredible balance of tangy, savory, and a hint of smoke from the wok. Topped with plump shrimp, firm tofu, and that essential crunch from crushed peanuts and fresh bean sprouts—it’s the kind of dish you’ll be craving for days. Honestly, the whole meal was a triumph. From the first crispy wonton to the last glorious bite of Pad Thai, this place knows exactly what it's doing.

This authentic Thai is a gem to Greenpoint neighborhood. I went there for dinner with my friends and every dish was so delicious. Menu had a great selection of appetizers. Crunchy enoki mushroom, the zesty papaya salad was so refreshing, and I absolutely loved the chive pancakes and curry puffs: crispy and flaky yet soft and jammed packed with flavor! My go to is the Massaman curry, and the beef fell off the bone! The flavor profile of curry came out so perfectly that though I was almost full on apps I wanted to inhale the entire bowl. My friend, seafood lover, got this amazing dish of shrimp. Ambience is calming and mix of sleek and subtle decor and cozy lights. Service is warm - they treat you like family!

Delicious Thai food and recently opened. The staff is super friendly and open to feedback as they are in soft opening. They give good recommendations if you're not sure what to order. They have some of the typical Thai-American takeout dishes but also have some dishes I haven't had at other Thai restaurants that are great!

I’ve lived on Manhattan Ave for over 10 years, and I can honestly say this place is a hidden gem! The flavors are bold, authentic, and perfectly balanced. Every dish I’ve tried has been amazing. So happy to have such a great Thai restaurant right in the neighborhood!

This Thai Place is the best dish I ever tried. I been to different restaurants and always a fan of Asian food. This restaurant totally amazed me. Personally, the best dish is this curry duck leg, it’s not the juicy type but trust me it will give you an awesome flavor and totally worth a try. The service is great.

Came here with friends last night, the place was a little busy, but the restaurant feels clean, cozy. staff were very attentive, and the service really makes a difference. We ordered the Tom Yum soup, Thai wings and fried rice. Everything was delicious, but the Tom Yum soup really stood out, probably the best I’ve ever had! The wings were amazing and flavorful, and the fried rice was perfectly seasoned.

Really enjoyed my meal at KUB KAO. The edamame appetizer was delicious,. it’s not the usual kind, but stir fried with a special sauce that gives it amazing flavor. The restaurant is clean and cozy, and the staff are friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Everything felt comfortable and well taken care of. A great spot for authentic Thai food. I’ll definitely be coming back with friends.

Yelp
This new Thai restaurant opened in Greenpoint! Right now Kub Kao is in its soft opening, so the decor is almost fully set up but still putting up finishing touches. They are also waiting on a liquor license, so no cocktails just yet. I really like visiting restaurants during the soft opening. You often can get special treatment. from the owners/staff who are very open to feedback and hearing how everything is during your visit. The owner, Amy, made us these honey lemonade drinks which were very refreshing! And Amy recommended some dishes to us, and wanted to get our thoughts. To start, we tried the Thai fruit salad and the Calamari Thai Kick. The calamari had a delicious seasoning! While I would typically associate the fruit salad as dessert due to the sweet fruits, there is a savory dressing used and it was quite refreshing! For the entrees, we enjoyed the duck curry and the steak fried rice. The steak was so tasty and was tender. It was a nice dining experience here! Wishing the team a lot of success for their official opening!

Yelp
Came here solo for dinner and was so happy to try this new spot! Once I walked in I was invited into a warm nice decor and greeted by the sweetest staff. I started off with a Thai Iced Tea which normally is too sweet for me to drink but this one was much better since it had just the right amount of sweetness. For appetizer I got the crispy shrimp roll with chili sauce which had the perfect crunch, shrimp were cooked perfectly and the bit of herbs and chili sauce brought nice flavor and freshness I enjoyed. Next I had the beef salad which was super tasty. Tasted so home cooked and authentic. The beef was cooked perfectly and the marinade was to die for. I really loved the flavoring!!! For entree I had chicken Rama which had a great cook and an amazing peanut sauce that I could eat for days. The rice was cooked to perfection and had a great consistency . For dessert was a cold grass jelly that was sweet and flavorful. You should definitely try this place if you're in the neighborhood , one of the best quality Thai places I have found in the Greenpoint/ Williamsburg area to date!

Yelp
We had an absolutely amazing meal at Kub Kao last night. Kudos to the owners for opening this lovely Thai restaurant in Brooklyn. The vibe is clean, modern, and hip. Great service - very warm and accommodating, friendly and happy just like being in Thailand. The food omg was so delicious! Absolutely fresh, made to order, top quality ingredients. You can tell a lot of care goes into making these dishes. They just started their business and already I can see they're going to be a neighborhood go-to spot! My favorite was the Mee Krob - crispy rice noodles tossed with a lime glaze and makrut leaves. Sublime. And the whole Branzino fish presented on a platter was such a special touch. I cannot wait to come back for more!

Yelp
Absolutely one of the best food experiences I've had in Greenpoint. I've had thai food all over the world, even from chefs appointed by the Thai royal family - and this is the best I've ever had. The service was incredibly warm and friendly, the atmosphere was calm but well appointed - but the flavors - WOW the flavors were fantastic. Try the Tom Kha Fried Rice - the steak salad - the Pad See Yew, and the scallion pancake stickers. We also loved the pad prik king - something I've never had before. Can't believe something like this is so accessible here in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Very good, I really enjoyed the green Thai and pad kee mao for takeout. Definetly will be back.

Yelp
Everything we tried was amazing! All of the dishes' spice levels were perfect. We loved the green curry and the Pad Kee Mao. The people who work there are also so friendly too. We will definitely be back often!
