During our three-day weekend getaway in Miami, we were lucky to stumble upon a true hidden gem. Typically, we like to try different restaurants for each meal during our vacations to experience a variety of flavors. But after our first visit to Kuba Kitchen, we couldn’t help but return every day because it was just that good. From the atmosphere to the cleanliness, food, and service, everything was outstanding.
On our first day, we had a late lunch and, despite being tempted, we had to skip dessert because we were too full from the meal and appetizers. As the day went on, all I could think about were the desserts we’d missed out on from the menu.
The next morning, we made sure to be the first customers at Kuba Kitchen. I was determined to enjoy a dessert with my morning coffee, so we patiently waited for the restaurant to open. My husband and I sat at the bar, where we were greeted by Wendy, who cheerfully prepared the perfect cup of coffee. Aldo, the owner, also came over to chat with us before his morning rush. Both of them were incredibly warm, and we enjoyed our conversations with them so much. We shared stories about our cultural backgrounds—my husband and I are of Mexican descent—and had an enriching exchange about our cultural similarities and differences. We were captivated by their fond memories of growing up in "el campo" in Cuba, the beautiful country they call home.
After talking about food for so long, we were ready for more Cuban cuisine, so we decided to stay for lunch. This was the first time we had dessert as an appetizer! On our last day in Miami, we had an early afternoon flight, so we stopped by Kuba Kitchen for a quick to-go meal, which was carefully packaged. We also exchanged contact information with Wendy, hoping to reconnect if she ever visits our hometown.
We came for the delicious food, and not only got that, but we also left with a new friend. We wish nothing but success for Kuba Kitchen, as they are clearly putting in the effort to create a remarkable dining experience, and it truly shows. Without a doubt, Kuba Kitchen will be our go-to spot every time we visit Miami!
