The Best Ice Cream Shops in Portland, Oregon - Eater Portland

"To make kulfi, Kiran Cheema boils down evaporated milk and sugar before steeping the mixture with ingredients like cardamom, pistachio, and chai in molds. The two-day process results in the Indian ice cream treat with an unfortgettable dense creaminess. Each pop has a story behind it — from a spirulina-infused collaboration with Hungry Heart Bakery called the Cookie Monster to the Major Mango, a tribute to Cheema’s late father-in-law, who was an army major. Cheema and husband Gagan Aulakh recently opened a second shop on North Williams Avenue, where they also serve floats and falooda, a textural hodgepodge of kulfi, vermicelli noodles, basil seeds, and jelly." - Michelle Lopez, Janey Wong

I finally got a chance to visit the brick and mortar location. The interior is pretty small, just enough to order what you want and take it to go. The treats here are just plain out delicious and refreshing. It doesn't feel like it's too heavy at all. My favorite flavors are the mango lassi and cookies & cream. It's definitely worth a try!

Kulfi is a type of Indian ice cream. It is very difficult to make, and hard to get just the right taste and texture... Kulfi, has got it down! Seriously this small eatery has got its product down. It has a proper intro price point of $4 for the basic kulfi stick. And compared to Baskin Robbins, or other ice creameries, this is right in the same price range. But with the benefit that you're getting something that is not easily found or available in America. The location is kinda meh. It's in NW Portland, which I would never go to normally. Since it's such a specialty, it seems out of the way, and as far as demographics are concerned, there are many other prime locations for this specialty ice cream in places like Beaverton or Hillsboro. Also, the actual business itself is pretty small. There is only about 100sqft of space, and while they make the most of it, for an ice cream spot, it's less than desirable. The owner is there, and as you can see, he is happy to be there. He loves his business, his product, and he is great at providing service. Minus the cramped location. The Falooda drink is also delicious. But overpriced. It's hard to justify spending $9 on a single dessert. Although, that is the price of most desserts at a sit down restaurant. While I did share it, as there was enough for 2 people, I still say it's a hard selling point. I hope that they will be expanding to more locations in the future, but for now, this is a treat that is definitely worth trying at least once.

Fantastic kulfi flavors and selection with great service. Our family tried Rose City (both the bar & scoop versions), Pistachio & Rose Falooda today. We will be back for more given the plethora of enticing options on the menu!

I was very happy to see this cute dessert shop open up on Alberta. Other places(SnS) frozen treats are over rated. Kulfi is refreshing and pleasing to the palate. My rose falooda was full of flavors and omg the textures. I can’t wait to try all them all!! The staff was vibrant and friendly.

Rose Falooda Description: Liquid base of Kulfi Rooh afza dunged inside milk mixed with basil seeds and noodles and finally, topped with whisked whip cream. I would like to give it 5 star, but it simply doesn't resonate with the Indian Kulfi. Firstly, a Malai is thick chunks of cream and thus, it didn't create that true authenticity. Also, Kulfi ice cream would have been a better choice than having a Kulfi stick inside falooda.

I may have found my new favorite dessert spot. So refreshing and delicious, I'm excited to try everything their menu has to offer. The marshmallow fluff is especially good!

These two popped up at a local golf tournament, and their freezer-tricycle contraption with the rainbow umbrella immediately caught my eye. Kirin, the culinary genius, defines solid female leadership and truly understands her business's value along with her own. Her partner, Gagan, has deep product knowledge and a clear vision for the future, which is appreciated as a customer. The pops are crazy, and I mean that in taste and flavor obscurity. Mango lassi? Absolute fire. Marionberry cheesecake? Bold decadence. Blueberry basil ginger lemonade? A tastemaker, to say the least. This powerhouse partnership has nothing but prosperity in their future and I suggest you make it a PRIORITY to visit them on your next PDX trip! Side note: I was so impressed by their product I got five for the road as I won’t be in Portland for a while. Keep up the incredible work!

Really enjoyed the popsicles here. There are a lot of flavors so I’ll have to return to try them all. But I like the mango lassi and have ordered it more than once.
