Intimate, mom-&-pop eatery featuring traditional Mediterranean dishes in a comfortable atmosphere.
"Kulushkat stormed onto the falafel scene (yes, I just said that) a few years ago, racking up a bunch of good press and getting Brooklyn excited about casual Middle Eastern food again. Maybe people had just grown tired of all the Coney Island Ave. spots, or maybe they just wanted some new blood, but either way, Kulushkat made some big fans pretty fast. Once you try the spicy falafel sandwich, you’ll understand why. Not in the mood for chick peas? Hit up the Sabikh (fried eggplant) sandwich in stead." - chris stang
"This casual Middle Eastern spot has about 10 tables and a few beers and wines available, but we like it best for takeout. It’s a block from the B/Q subway stop, so it’s a good place to grab a bite on your way into or out of the neighborhood, and it’s also within eyeshot of Prospect Park, in case you want to eat some shawarma at a picnic table while watching people walk their kids around on leashes. Whatever you order, make sure to ask for extra hot sauce." - bryan kim, matt tervooren
"This Middle Eastern restaurant serves a short menu of shawarma, dips, and falafel in a few different formats. It’s a great option if you’re looking for something vegetarian. Especially since our favorite dish is the falafel platter, which comes with a big portion of hummus, salad, and yellow rice topped with very crunchy falafel. There are a few outdoor tables set up in front of their spot in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, but you could always take your lunch to-go and eat on a bench in Prospect Park a block away." - hannah albertine
