The Best Chinese Restaurants Around Phoenix | Eater Phoenix

"It’s all about the noodles at this recently renamed and rebranded Tempe spot, specializing in the hand-pulled lamian noodles of China. The place originally opened as Kungfu Ramen, a confusing name to some that suggested Japanese ramen, not Chinese lamian. Don’t be misled by the mainstream chicken dishes. The excellent noodles are still there, offered in various styles: thick, thin, regular, chive, wide, extra-wide and knife-sliced. Get them in fantastic soups and stir-fries, and don’t sleep on the dumplings." - Nikki Buchanan

The first time I came to Kung Fu Private Kitchen in Tempe, I was really amazed! The dishes are very authentic and the taste is authentic. I especially recommend their [Signature Boiled Fish/Spicy Bullfrog/Secret Stir-Fry], which is fragrant but not greasy, and just the right amount of spicy! The environment is clean and tidy, and it feels like a small restaurant back home. The service is also very good, the boss and the staff are very enthusiastic, and it feels like eating at a friend's house. It is very cost-effective and the portion is large, suitable for dinner or a small gathering with friends. I will definitely come here often in the future!

My friends recommended this restaurant and I must say it did not disappoint. You got to try the Beef Noodle Soup (spicy) if you dare. The vibe was great and the service was great, they were honestly very attentive and helped us decide.

I’ve been to this place so many times and they never let me down! Their handmade noodles are always delicious, chewy, flavorful. Environment is bright and clean. Staffs are nice. Strongly recommend anyone to give it a try!

Absolutely incredible. The spicy dumplings were insane. The sauce and every single bite was so flavorful - I even asked for a cup for my leftover sauce. I also ordered the signature beef soup. The noodles were homemade and absolutely delicious. I had to bring the rest to go as it was a generous portion. The soup itself wasn’t as flavorful as I was expecting, next time I’ll try the spicy version as that would probably suit my tastebuds better. Overall, 5/5 and I will definitely be back!

Google
Very good portions and tasty sides! The noodles are definitely a must have and the spicy dumplings were a favorite (note not as spicy as you think though). I will say the boba is very sweet so just be prepared for that sugar rush. Would eat here again.

I've been following this place over on IG and finally made it. Clean, lots of natural light room, we were seated as soon as we arrived. Any stir fry dish is very good. The soups are full of flavor! Specially if the meat is braised! Delicious! The popcorn chicken was well made, crispy as it should be. We'll be back for sure!

The dine-in portions are phenomenal and the food is so deeply satisfying. Recently I ordered the spicy beef tendon ramen, it healed my soul in ways I didn’t even know were wounded.

Yelp
Everything was amazing! Hand pulled noodles are something that me and my kiddos love! The service was excellent. The food came out fast and hot and we devoured our food quickly. Portions are generous. The restaurant area is clean and there was ample seating. We ordered braised beef noodle soup, stir fried rice noodles with shrimp , stir fried noodles with shrimp and the steamed pork dumplings! One comment our waiter said to me when I asked what another customer had was that I wouldn't like "it". It was pig intestines or pig feet...I'm originally from the south (Mississippi) , so please don't assume what I wouldn't like... All in all, I would recommend this place! It would be cool if the customers had the ability to see them hand pulling the noodles while you wait for your food.

Yelp
Overall rating: 4.5/5 Wait: 4.5/5 Arrival time: Sunday 5pm Food: 4.5/5 Order: mapo tofu, spicy beef noodle soup, Xiao long bao Service: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Definitely coming back Kungfu Noodle has undergone a transformation, perhaps even a change in ownership, since its days as Kungfu Ramen, sporting a fresh remodel and updated ambiance. The food has definitely stepped up its game from what I recall, though it's been some time since my last visit. The standout of the meal was undoubtedly the noodles; they possess a distinct hand-made quality that elevates the entire dining experience. Be warned, however, the kitchen doesn't shy away from spice, so prepare your palate for a flavorful kick. It's a great spot for those seeking authentic, hand-pulled noodles with a fiery edge.

Yelp
I went to a different location last time and it was just ok. But I tried this Tempe location today, and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the rice noodle and dumplings. Both were pretty good. Inside had plenty of seating, very clean and good service. The Togo bag is very nice. Would recommend.

Yelp
Great food! Definitely worth the price. Large portions, great noodle to protein to veggie ratio. I ordered delivery and they put the food in a cute insulated tote. I ordered delivery and the service was fast.

Yelp
My friend and I both lived in china for a years and now that we are back home, we bond over trying to find some authentic Chinese food. This place, was definitely it!! We got a little of each, as you can see and we wiped every plate clean. Nothing disappointed and the service was great! We are already talking about coming back next week.

Yelp
Tried them first time and via food delivery, so not too high expectations, but, Oh my gosh, they exceeded any expectations, they went above and beyond. 1. The food arrived in a thermal-sealed- recyclable bag, to start. So food safety 1-0-1. 2. All their food - house fried rice, beef and broccoli, steamed pork-shrimp dumplings was carefully prepared. The broccoli was cooked to perfection- not raw, yet not overcooked- it was seasoned with balance (all the food was!- for me, this was a game changer, their team at the kitchen carefully prepared the meals and for that, we're thankful. 3. The steamed bbq pork buns: are a must! Not too sweet, balanced umami, beautiful tender texture and plenty of filling. Flavorful! They have new clients, for sure

Yelp
The seafood soup with pulled noodles was amazing. My wife couldn't talk to me while I was eating because I was locked in!

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. we came once and were immediately hooked had to come back twice in the same week.

Yelp
I was looking for a good Kung Pao. It was pretty good. The BBQ pork buns were ok and the steamed dumplings were the same. Packaging & service was top notch. All items were good just not great. Looking for more. Maybe I should have stuck to ramen. ‍

Yelp
We found this place on TikTok. It was amazing. The veggies, noodles and dumplings were fresh. Soup and sauces were full of flavor. Meat was tender and not overly salty. The staff were polite and helpful when asking for recommendations. The restaurant is very clean and modern furnishings. Plenty of space for large groups. Would recommend and we will be returning customers.

Yelp
Food delivers consistent big flavors and good quality. Mapo tofu is a favorite and the soup with beef shank is superb

Yelp
This place has recently gone through some changes and the menu has updated, they brought back the Jiajang and Dan Dan noodles which I'm glad. All the noodles here are made fresh and so are the appetizers too. Service was good and they were friendly, the actual restaurant doesn't look too much different but definitely improved from the original store. Definitely recommend this spot for some good food.

Yelp
Amazing food and amazing staff. The handmade noodles were amazing and you could taste how fresh the noodles were. The dumplings are a must try appetizer, the chili oil was so good. Will definitely be back

Yelp
Delicious authentic Chinese food! Not the easiest cuisine to fine around here so I'm so excited it was recommended to me. Service was great and quick! The stir fry noodles are actually to die for! Make sure you come in and give them a try - you won't regret it!

Yelp
Like noodles? Get on in here. They have many varieties, so be sure to try a different kind in each tasty dish. Super fast service. Bright, clean space. Felt very similar to places in Asia.

Yelp
Clean establishment. Delicious food! I will become a regular here... Great portion sizes and prices

Yelp
I'm surprised they upgraded the restaurant and the menu and all of my favorites are kept. I tried pig feet rice noodle, it was very delicious, soup is a little salty but the ingredients are good. A lot of meat in all our orders. Very large portion. Service is acceptable, it was a busy hour when I visited and one of my friends' order was delayed. The waiter explained they made a mistake and will waive with that order so it's acceptable. Overall a good place to have a simple meal, will definitely come again!

Yelp
First time visiting Kungfu Noodles after the name change from Kungfu Ramen. The atmosphere is noticeably brighter and more inviting for sit-down customers. I ordered to go, as usual, but am happy to report the food quality is still the same (great!)

Leslie N.

Yelp
I don't know...the reviews sucked me in and I ordered food tonight ( Mongolian Beef, Orange Chicken, Pot Stickers, Egg Rolls, Pork Fried Rice. This food was marginal at best.! To me the food was really bland. I know good Chinese coming from NYC and San Fran. This is a half step above Panda Express. Sorry, I won't go back.
