The Best Korean Restaurants in Santa Clara | Eater SF

"This homey strip mall restaurant features a concise menu focused almost entirely on soups and stews. Almost every table orders at least one of two dishes: the salung tang, a very plain but rich, milky-white ox-bone broth that you season to taste at the table with salt and red-pepper paste; or the sweet-and-spicy galbi jjim, a short rib stew that you cut up at the table with scissors. As an added bonus, the restaurant is open at 9 a.m. every morning, which means it provides a much-needed resource for hard-partying clientele who hope to put salung tang’s famed hangover-curing properties to the test." - Luke Tsai

Kunjip is a cozy spot for Korean comfort food in a strip mall alongside other Korean joints. Their cold noodles are a refreshing hit, perfect for cooling off. The beef tendon is impressively soft, practically falling apart. Spicy soup was just okay, not the star. The banchan steals the show with its fresh, vibrant flavors. Only bummer—no BBQ to grill up some fun. Still, a lively gem for a quick, tasty Korean fix!

Google
The most impressive food is the Galbi Tang. Beef short rib soup with clear noodles, green onion, dried jujube, sliced egg.

I went to this place thinking that I would get seafood pancake because I saw it on Yelp photos. Once I arrived they didn't have it on the menu. I quickly realized that the menu is pretty limited. Looks like the main special is the braised beef $75. Despite the fact that the food was pretty good, there were more downsized that made me bring the rating down to 3/5 out of five. Probably not return here again. Because there are more options now for Korean food and they have a lot of competition. Naengmyun 4/5 I've eaten a lot of naengmyon ( cuz I'm korean 😉) This one hits all the right flavor notes. They have mustard and also vinegar on the side to adjust tastes levels. You don't see that at every Korean restaurant. The beef that they put in there is super high quality and very soft. At $20 I think it's okay. Not the best value, but if you're at this restaurant You're kind of stuck with a limited choice of options. Sellongtang 4/5: This is a bone broth soup that you need to add salt or pepper for The taste. It's traditional and very authentic. For some people it could be pretty bland. But it's what I grew up with. They nailed it. Super high quality pieces of beef. Service 5/5: Very attentive service team there. You just need to flag them down when you need something or ready to pay the bill. Downsides: Parking: 3/4 During peak hours like in the evening on a Sunday, the parking is atrocious. I spent driving around a lot about 10 minutes before I found something. Wait time : 40 mins. Busy on Sunday evening. I think if you're into the braised beef it's worth the wait. But we just ordered noodles and we could have gotten that at any of the other restaurants that was close by with less wait times. Banchan is limited . If you're accustomed to the location in mountain view, you'll quickly realize that this is a minimal version of that restaurant. In particular, the banchan is only three dishes ( kimchi, cucmber , spicy radish) compared to several dishes at typical Korean restaurants.

Google
Their kimchi is really tasty. The tables are limited so if you are less than four people, you probably have to seat with others, no privacy. Food is good, a little pricey.

Google
visited here twice and it was tasty and good. you can get good korean food but as you know, it feels like expensive a little bit as a korean. I recommend you to bring some friends to get braised pork together. it is worthy to eat.. I hope you enjoy this foods from here.

This place is the truth. The food is exemplary, the service is spot on, and the place is clean. The seating is spacious. The food here is served family style rather than individual and is priced as such. So let's start off with the service. All the ladies there are more than happy to help you and they're always on the move. They check in and are prompt with getting you whatever you request from them. They even asked if we wanted an extra pair of chopsticks for the table to use. They have salt, pepper, mustard, vinegar, and green onion. The seol leong tang was warm and comforting. Unlike a good bit of reviewers, I actually read that you have to salt and pepper it yourself. The cheese galbi was excellent. They meat was cooked so it was fall off the bone tender but still kept its shape. The rest of the ingredients were all the same. Tender while holding its shape. These were the best rice cakes we've had. Not too much heat though. Like 1/8th of a jalapeno. The banchan were great. Not too salty. Not too sour. Great flavor. Limited to just cabbage, cucumber, and daikon. You get a Yakult to wash everything down. They just keep it cool though, not cold, sadly.

Google
As a Korean, I can confidently say this place is the real deal. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the cozy, bustling atmosphere of a true Korean eatery—complete with Korean aunties (ajummas) moving quickly between tables, making sure everyone is well taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious. The galbijjim (braised short ribs) was perfectly spicy and full of flavor. Every dish felt like it was made with care, and the quality of the ingredients really came through. The side dishes (banchan) were outstanding—especially the kimchi, which was so good it reminded me of home. In Korea, we say that if a place makes good kimchi, they do everything well—and this place proves it. It’s a bit on the pricier side, but well worth it. I had such a satisfying and nostalgic experience here, and I can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend!

Google
The soup is so flavorful but tastes clean and refreshing. It's great that it is served unsalted so that you can spice it up with the condiments as you wish. I enjoyed eating their pickles sides just as much as the main meal.

Yelp

Yelp
Thanks to everyone on Yelp, I tried Kunjip for the first time. Kunjip is in a little strip mall on the corner of Kiely and Benton. I arrived shortly after they opened, and there was already a line out front. The place was packed when we were seated. Service was fast and efficient, and the tables turned over quickly. Everyone raved about the Galbi Jjim, but that was more of a special occasion, expensive dish, so I tried the Galbi Tang (shortribs) and my friend tried the Seolleong Tang (oxtail) soups. We were served an assortment of banchan, and I loved that there was a dish of green onions. Both of our soups were outstanding! I will definitely be back. Thank you, @kunjip!

Yelp
To be honest, I'm not much of a Korean food fan but there will ALWAYS be a place in my heart for Kunjip's galbi tang. The broth is so clean tasting, savory, and flavorful. It just hits the spot every time I come here and I love the glass noodles that come in the soup. The meat is always well seasoned and tender. 10/10 no notes at all. I've also tried the cold noodles and the noodles were perfectly chewy and refreshing! Honorable mention: their galbijjim. Maybe a hot take but I enjoy it more than a certain popular chain... they don't skimp on the meat and there's plenty more meat than bones ;) I also love the cucumber banchans and the sauce with the jalapeno. The service is very fast too, also really digging the new interior ! It's very sleek and aesthetic.

Yelp
Upscale Korean restaurant serving Galbi Jim and other Korean soups. Every dish had very tender meats here. It is on the pricier side but worth a try. Does get busy wait times can be long. Started off with their sides. Kimichi, radish, and cucumber. Fermented well. We got the mur naeng mun, a cold noodle dish that tasted refreshing. Sweet from the Korean pear. Next we had the sul leong tang, good amount of brisket and had salt and green onions to taste. The main dish we came here was for the cheese galbi jim. Came sizzling and has generous amount of meat and veggies. The meat was super tender and falls apart easily. Service was ok. We sat in an area that was similar to private room so it was hard to get a hold of the staff. Located in plaza with good amount of parking. Wished the cheese was a bit more melted/broiled. Ended off the night with the yakult like drink.

Yelp
So delicious!! My friend and I went here to have dinner and catch up, and we ordered the seolleong tang and the bibim naeng myun. It was my first time trying cold noodles and it was such a cool experience (quite literally!) The dish itself was savory but refreshing, quite perfect for a warm summer evening. It paired quite nicely with the warm barley tea that they give at the beginning of your meal. The beef soup that we got was a more gentle dish. When ordering it, it is noted that you need to season to your taste. It's always a fun experience to notice the change of flavor as you add more salt to the dish! The noodles were also very soft, a drastic change from the cold noodles. While there is a decent parking lot in the plaza the restaurant is in, when it is busy it can definitely be hard to find parking! The service was also quick and efficient. They have an in person Yelp waitlist that you can join. The servers are very polite and attentive. While there is no dessert (I believe), they do give you a small yogurt drink (like Yakult) at the end of your meal! A nice sweet treat :)

Yelp
Love everything here!! I really like their galbijjim because theirs is not too sweet compared to other places. Also the meat was sooo tender. Bummed that they don't do reservations though :( we waited for 45 mins on a friday night

Yelp
Discovered Kunjip on a Monday afternoon and were we glad there was no wait! We were surprised to see how modern it was on the inside and they even had a separate room for bigger parties or separate dining. This restaurant was in a little plaza with plenty of parking. I was surprised at how small the menu was compared to other chain Korean places which lead me to believe I would have the authentic Korean experience. We were seated right away and we ordered the galbi jjim with cheese and the galbi tang. I added a few pinches of salt to the galbi tang but otherwise it was perfect. The galbi jjim was a little sweeter than I expected as I was expecting more of an umami flavor. Both dishes had huge pieces of meat and were fall of the bone tender. The rice cake in the galbi jjim is nothing like I ever had and I feel like they were made in house. They gave us cucumber kimchi, kimchi and radish as banchan. They were delish and authentic. Needless to say, we had leftovers but be careful because the takeaway Tupperwares are flimsy. The staff were very responsive and the food came out fast!
google avatar

Yelp
Really solid place to get naengmyeon and some galbijjim. The meat was tender and had great flavor. The naengmyeon was refreshing. I liked both the regular and bibim version. I really liked the kimchi as well that comes out with the dishes and the overall meal was very filling. This was more than enough for 4 people. The food came out pretty fast as well. The parking lot was pretty full when we got there. The restaurant itself is spacious with tables and some benches to wait. There was a lot of people when we stopped by on a Saturday evening. They use a yelp iPad to join the waitlist. We waited around 30 minutes, but ordered as soon as we were seated. Would definitely come back!!

Yelp
Kunjip has delicious food overall and great quality. My favorite here is the Galbi Tang, which is a beef short rib soup. Perfect for when it's cold or just when I want some nice light soup that's not heavy. I love ban chan sides here, especially the kimchi and cucumbers! Definitely always requesting a refill on those. The Galbi Jjim is good but I prefer the one from Daeho since portion there is bigger and I like the vegetables they add. That's personal preference though. Solid spot and never a let down coming here!
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
I had heard so many great things about Kunjip and was very excited to try. The galbitang is sweet with the jujube and I could see it being super comforting in the winter. Some of the beef was tender and some of it was not. Hwe naengmyeon was quite sweet and one-dimensional in that regard -- portion was insanely large and I felt like it was just noodles for days. The ajumma was disappointed with our naengmyeon mixing skills to the point where she came over to mix it for us The banchan is very limited: the kimchi is very sweet-forward and very fresh, cucumber was not spicy (sesame oil + sugar were most prominent flavors) but I liked the balance, and the kkakdugi was a mushy crunch, which was not my favorite but that is personal preference.

Yelp
Galbi jiim (spicy) was very good- the spice was a tasty one and wasn't overwhemingly spicy. First time ordering this and would get it again! Love that it came with pumpkin, rice cake, broccoli and carrots. There were only 2 parties ahead of us and we got lucky to get seated after a few minutes around 7pm on a Monday. Decent amount of meat for the price and we were able to finish and be full amongst two people. Even though the restaurant was packed, you can still hear the person across from you. The staff are very nice if you've any questions. The renovations make the place more modern and allows for more seating at the window Always a staple when visiting south bay!
google avatar

Fiona T.

Yelp
We only waited about 20-25 minutes with 9 groups ahead of our party of 4. We brought 2 of our friends to try our favorite spot to get Galbi Tang and they left with happy bellies. We ordered 3 Galbi Tangs for 4 people. Guys had their own order and the girls shared. Food came out quickly as always. Pro tip: use the scissors to cut the meat off the bone and into smaller bite size pieces

Yelp
Tucked inside a small strip mall with plenty of parking, which is always a plus. We came right when they opened--something we like to do because it often feels like the food is fresher at the start of the day. Known for their bone broth soups, and I ordered the dogani tang, a rich bone broth soup with a generous amount of tendon. The broth was incredibly flavorful, deeply nourishing, and served beautifully with a single jujube floating on top. It's the kind of soup that really sticks to your bones in the best way. Each soup comes with a bowl of perfectly cooked white rice and a set of three banchan (Korean side dishes), including radish kimchi and regular kimchi and cucumber kimchi which is typically the main banchans for tang place. The broth will comes unseasoned--there's salt at the table so you can taste the broth first and season to your liking. The portion size is generous--easily enough for two to share. A must is their Hwe Naengmyun, a cold noodle dish with spicy sauce and raw fish (skate). This version was outstanding--perfectly balanced spice and a delicately chewy fish. The flavors were bold, refreshing, and exactly what you want in a naengmyeon. Typical Naengmyun comes with icy tangy broth this one is no broth. The facility was clean, the service was fast and friendly, and there was no wait when we went. We enjoyed it so much, my mom and I returned again just for the cold noodles. Definitely worth the trip from San Francisco--highly recommend!

Yelp
We came around lunch. It was pretty busy, but we were seated relatively quickly as a party of 2. While the restaurant was incredibly busy, it wasn't too noisy. We ordered the galbi jjim, which was more than enough for just us two. It came with a heaping pile of beef, squash, broccoli, carrots, and rice cake. The sauce was incredibly flavorful and clung to everything for sticky goodness. The beef was oh-so-tender, and slid off the bone. The not-meat additions complimented the beef well.
google avatar

Jessie L.

Yelp
Service was pretty good. They were relatively quick even though we had a big party. The food was pretty authentic, mother approved. Really enjoyed the Galbi tang!
google avatar

Yelp
Kunjip has long been a tried-and-true spot for Korean food in NorCal. I've never had a disappointing bowl of galbi tang here; it's always so comforting. I know people also enjoy their seolleongtang and naengmyeon. This was my first time trying their galbi jjim, and it was a huge hit with my family. Definitely a dish worth ordering for the table and sharing. In my experience, they're almost always packed, even during off-hours. Service is efficient, and prices are in line with what's typical these days.
google avatar

Joyce T.

Yelp
Galji tang- beef soup is amazing, the beef in it is so tender and flavorful. It's a good match with the glass noodles. Maeun galbi jjim- beef with rice cake and sweet pumpkin, I love the sauce, it's awesome to eat with rice. Everything is so delicious except their complimentary side dishes is disappointing and the rice cake in Maeun galji jjim is too thick and lack of flavor. They gave complementary yogurt drinks, cute tiny treats to complete the meal.
google avatar

Claire L.

Yelp
I did not enjoy the kalbijjim over at Kunjip but I think they might be known for their other dishes. The meat wasn't as tender as it could be and the sauce left more to be desired. I got it mild but it was also really spicy. They had Yelp waitlist but I didn't know so I added myself when I got there and had a short less than 15 minute wait on a weekday night. Sat down as a party of 2 and was confused because we got 1 tea cup and 1 water cup. Looked normal as we glanced at other tables. A bit weird though. Also sadly we got sat at the communal table. I wouldn't have minded waiting longer to not get that!!
google avatar

Lucy Y.

Yelp
Very yummy Korean food and soup. It's pretty pricey but seems like good quality and great service. They were nice about side dish refills which is something I noticed not all Korean places are like. The interior was really nice and polished, good place for like a first date or business meal idk lol
google avatar

Lena T.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with friends. I got the spicy cold noodles. They were delicious and were the perfect texture. They have the sauces on the table you can add to adjust the flavor to your liking. My friends all got soups they all enjoyed it. I wasn't a fan since it was soybean paste based. Service is good and fast. They also give a yakult at the end of your meal!
google avatar

Edna C.

Yelp
This is a nice fine dining Korean restaurant! Good customer service and delicious food! There was a bit of a wait at 11:30am. Not too bad but it was so nice they have a machine for complementary drinks while you wait outside. Coffee, hot chocolate and ginger tea. Once we got seated, we placed our order and everyone in your party must order their own entree. Love the unlimited little side dishes! On the way out I ordered some Kimbap to go and it was a wide variety to choose from. We we definitely come back to try some other dishes!
google avatar

Irene C.

Yelp
I drive on hour to come here just for the galbi soup and kimchi! The galbi is tender and soup is a flavor bomb. The service is efficient and the servers are all very kind, especially Mi Hee! She was super nice. The soup and kimchi at Kunjip heal me my soul. :)
google avatar

Yelp
Recently came to Kunjip twice, week after week. The experience has been welcoming and delicious. Arriving around 10:30am each time, we got seated right away (the waitlist seems to start around 11:15am, so get her earlier if you want to avoid the wait. The kalbi rice cake was legendary (true to their word). And the soups were equally good. Will definitely come back in the future.
google avatar

Erica L.

Yelp
Very nice decor and dinner vibe. The service was interesting, they were like always around but not very helpful ( didn't take away the hand washing towels, touched my friends spoon at the eating part with their bare hands when making space for the tray, didn't check in mid meal, took forever to get the check). Seafood pancake 3.5/5 it tasted good but not the texture you would expect... it's more similar to the taro puff from dim sum. There was 3 of us and we didn't finish it... Mixed combo tofu soup 3.5/5 it tasted good but it was creamier than expected. I asked for mild but it wasn't spicy at all. Would definitely recommend medium spice and up. I did like how they packed it with seafood and meat though! The banchan were pretty average, I think I was expecting more given the price ($27). They are refillable , but we ended up not getting anything refilled because they weren't stand-out at all. The best part was the rice. Not sure if I would come back.

Yelp
My all time favorite korean restaurant in the bay area!! This spot serves galbi jjim, different korean soups, and cold noodles. I've tried almost everything on their menu and have never been disappointed in the quality of the food! This is definitely a go-to korean spot for my friends and family. The service is also super quick, but usually there is a 30-40 min wait to get in on the weekends. They recently redid the interior of the restaurant, so the inside is super clean!
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
Best Korean restaurant in the bay I took my Korean mom from LA and she said it was one of the best meals she's had. The galbi-jjim is not too sweet, so flavorful and tender. The sseolleongtang is my faavorite - just perfect milky broth with noodles and tender beef. Pairs so well with their perfect kimchi (not too sour, not too spicy). The naengmyeon here is also the best - so refreshing! The ladies there are also always so sweet and I love the vibe - reminds me of being in LA Koreatown. It's so clean and nice

Yelp
Came with a group of 7 around 7:00pm on a Sunday night and waited about 20-30 minutes. We were served hot tea and had our order taken quickly. Food came out fast. The restaurant is pretty small but well-decorated and not cramped. We ordered 2 galbi jjim, a soup, and cold noodles and it was a good amount of food for 7. The food was great, my favorites being the cold noodles and the maeun galbi jjim. I would recommend the spicy galbi jjim over the regular (it wasn't really spicy, and the regular one was a tiny bit salty). It is definitely expensive, our total ended up being almost $40 each for a normal amount of food, but it is high quality. Wouldn't come again for a casual dinner, but maybe for a special occasion or if you don't mind splurging on a good meal.

Yelp
The rich beef bone soup is very comforting and warming, and if you come around mealtime, there's usually a long line. Like most Korean beef bone soup restaurants, this one also comes with a good selection of side dishes. However, the main dishes are on the smaller side, so the prices feel a bit high. The place is clean but has limited seating, and the service is quite friendly. Overall, I still highly recommend this Korean beef bone soup spot.

Yelp
Came on a weekend for an early dinner and was seated immediately. They also have a Yelp waitlist you can sign up beforehand! This is much more casual and have a limited menu than their sister restaurant in Mountain View. We got the galbijim and cold noodles to share and it was delicious. The galbijim was so tender and a different take on the dish compared to Daeho. At the end, they also give you a yogurt drink for dessert. Service is also very quick. Would definitely come back again to try the other dishes.

Yelp
My favorite spot for Korean soups, especially their Sulungtang in the bay area! So tasty and authentic; I love how they give out the yummy yogurt drinks at the end to end with a sweet pallate, as well as the staff always being attentive and friendly.

Yelp
Authentic Korean fare with speedy and friendly service. Excellent spot. I wish there were more drink options. None listed on the menu.

Yelp
Service is quick and ok. Super busy and a little overwhelming for dates. It was really difficult to hear across the table. Food is good. Kimchi has an interesting sweetness. The daikon kimchi is good too.

Yelp
Another regular visit to Kunjip for galbitangs and the quality remains high. We went on a weekday during lunch and it was quite empty. Service was speedy and food was fresh as usual!
google avatar

Yelp
Comfort food that made me feel like I was in Korea! There aren't that many options but they nailed it on their noodles and soups, I got the cold spicy noodles, but their Galbitang broth was rich and not too oily and it was very reasonably priced too. Would definitely recommend checking this place out!!

Yelp
Negatives: Waited an hour at 6:30pm on a Saturday night. The seat had a piece of meat and rice on it when we sat down. A guy in the parking lot was loudly muttering, and I heard him say "stupid b" as he was walking around, so that was weird. Positives: The food tasted fresh. It wasn't mindblowingly good or worth an hour of waiting, but it was good. We got the #3, which was their most popular dish, and #5. #3 tasted like com tam chicken broth to me, which is a good thing. It had clear noodles and tender beef cuts in it. I didn't get the chance to taste #5, but our friend said it was good.

Yelp
Kunjip has a fairly small menu, but they do it very well! They're known for their galbijim, and it doesn't disappoint! Although they say that it's meant for two people, the dish is decently portioned, and it was good enough for the three of us. Out of all the places that I've tried for galbijim, I'd probably say that thks restaurant is my favorite!

Yelp
I finally got to try this place in person!! Food comes out really quick and all the extra condiments (salt, pepper, green onions for the bone soups and mustard, and vinegar for the cold noodles) are already on the tables. I got to try the spicy galbi jjim with cheese. The sauce was super savory, spicy, and sweet, the classic Korean combo. I really liked the thiccc rice cakes in the dish. I thought the veggies were chopped a bit too large (not ideal for sauce to veggies ratio). The meat was yummy--there were some that were already fallen off the bone, so you know they braised it for a long long time. I liked my seollongtang. I could tell they boiled the beef bones for a long time cuz the soup had that sticky fatty texture on my lips that proper soup places have. Their kimchi was a bit too sweet but the radish kimchi was also properly authentic to beef bone soup places in Korea. I really appreciated how much meat there was in my soup. They did not skimp out. (I literally ordered the same dish from Daeho a week later and the quality was night and day)

Yelp
Wait times: I always come on Saturday evenings (6-7pm) for dinner and it's always packed with long lines. Make sure to join the waitlist online (if it's open) or come early, or just be prepared to wait. It's definitely worth it though! I came for late lunch on a Saturday recently (3p) and the restaurant was still crowded with a line of maybe 7 small parties on the waitlist with people still coming in. Not as crowded at lunch, but was honestly surprised that there was a line!

Yelp
YUM! I came on a Sunday with friends around 11:00am and it got packed quickly. By the time we left, there was a wait. I think it's worth the wait depending on what you get. I got the guk-bap and it was delicious! Something so comforting about steaming hot and spicy bone soup. There was a perfect and good amount of meat so I felt the price was great. I haven't tried other items but I'd be back for the guk-bap and their kimchi. Very comforting and taste like home cook food but elevated. The inside is big and clean as well with great service.

Yelp
Came over the weekend with friends since I haven't seen them for months. Upon arrival, there was already a wait with 5 parties ahead. Took about 20 minutes to be seated. FYI: your whole party must be there to be seated. Not a big deal since they were busy. Service for ordering felt rushed. We barely sat down and were looking at the menu for a couple minutes then a waitress came by asking if we were ready yet. We told her we needed more time and they ended up coming back a couple minutes after asking again. We ended up rushing and ordered their #1, #2 and #3 soups along with their $82 cheese galbi jim. When dropping off the soups, they say it pretty fast and leave so you have to pay attention when the food is coming out. We mistakenly ate the wrong soups our other friends had ordered because we didn't know which one was which until they all came out. Again, not a big deal because we ended up all sharing. The #1 brisket soup was pretty bland. It does say on the menu to add salt and pepper to taste, but I felt like no amount of salt and pepper could remedy the soup for me. #2 was probably the most flavorful soup as it had spice and flavor with the right amount of veggies and meat. #3 the galbi tang was easy and light to eat. You could never go wrong ordering this soup. The cheese galbi jim was a lot more flavorful than other Korean restaurants I've been to. I would definitely recommend it. The rice cakes inside were big and chewy. The galbi jim sauce was saucy, flavorful and made you want to keep eating it. Towards the end of our meal, when the waitresses were clearing our table, I noticed that she was also looking at the bill receipt after we paid but didn't think much of it since my boyfriend paid. As we were leaving, she stopped by friend and showed her the receipt asking for something. My friend didn't know what was happening so the lady flagged me down and showed me that we marked 18% tip but also wrote down cash. I ended up having to go out to the car to rectify the situation with my boyfriend as she followed me out to there. He meant to tip cash, but didn't have enough so he marked the 18% tip but he forgot to cross out the cash part he wrote. Now, a mistake on our side but she could've just asked about it the first time she noticed it when she was looking at it when cleaning the table. I felt second hand embarrassment being followed out. Also, it felt like tip is demanded eating here in America so it didn't help. I work at a restaurant as well, but would never make customers feel pressured to tip. We tip regardless of bad or good service because we know what working in a restaurant is like.

Yelp
I love this place!! It's my go to spot for Galbitang in South Bay, and it never disappoints. The fresh kimchi is also my favorite in the area. The employees are always super nice, and the service is quick. Sometimes the wait is long, but usually they turn tables pretty quickly. Some weekends/nights we've definitely waited 45+ minutes for a table. The one thing that sucks about coming here is the parking, the lot is small and shared by many businesses. 10/10 recommend!

Yelp
Was glad to be able to come back here after eating at Kunjip Tofu so I could do a direct comparison. This restaurant, 10 Butchers, and Kunjip Tofu are all under the same owners, but Kunjip is at a lower price point than the latter two. In short, just come here if you're looking for good value and no frills. You're not going to get the wide array of side dishes you get at 10 Butchers, but you're going to have great food while not crying over your wallet. While Kunjip Tofu is trying VERY hard to be upscale, Kunjip's interior is honestly pretty nice as well. The wait can be long at both places, but the staff wasn't ushering me out the door to serve other customers like they were at Kunjip Tofu. They also give a complimentary Yakult equivalent to each diner at the end of the meal which was a pleasant surprise.

Yelp
Dating all of the way back to when I first started Yelping (oh so long ago), Kunjip has been high on my list of places to check out. At the time, I had heard tons of awesome things about them and, more impressively, that has only continued in the years since then. So, needless to say, I don't really have a good reason for not coming here sooner, especially since I've managed to check out other Korean eateries around Santa Clara that were lower on my list. That is, other than that I'm seemingly a stupid, stupid man for taking so long. Ugh...men, amirite ladies? Now, I have to admit - all of the positive things that I had heard about Kunjip certainly made it a lot easier to bear through some of the challenges of coming here. Both times I've been, parking has been somewhat tough, as the complex isn't that big and is also home to other popular eateries (including Tobang, which is also on my list...). There's typically a line for a table as well, but the wait at lunch is generally a lot shorter (it was about 15 mins compared to 45+ when we came for dinner). As for the menu, it's surprisingly modest, with just thirteen offerings - five Korean soups, three cold noodle dishes, two types of sooyuk, or three varieties of galbi jjim. However, what it may lack in quantity is more than made up for in quality, as every dish sounded so good! -- KKO RI GOM TANG - Ox Tail Soup with Green Onion and Dried Jujube...$30 This may be a simple dish, but it was so, so good! I didn't expect the soup to be so milky white, but it had a rich, beefy element that I loved. As for the chunks of ox tail, they were delicious and cooked perfectly! Even though there was a fair amount of them, I wouldn't have minded more to devour! -- GALBI TANG - Beef Short Rib Soup with Clear Noodles, Green Onion, Dried Jujube, and Sliced Egg...$27 Not quite as tasty as I was hoping for, but not too shabby either. Although this felt a bit light on meat compared to others I've had, each piece was tender and I liked how the broth was flavorful, had a good body to it, and was so comforting on such a cold night. -- GALBI JJIM - Beef Short Ribs with House Special Sauce, Sweet Pumpkin, Carrot, Broccoli, Rice Cake, Sesame Seeds, Sesame Oil, and Sliced Egg...$75 This fell short of my favorite (Daeho in San Mateo), but it's still pretty solid. The short ribs were luscious and meaty and the rice cakes had a really nice chew for their size. That said, the taste of the sauce was surprisingly mild and, while I appreciated the veggies, I wish this had a bit more meat in it! Along with how largely satisfying everything was, the other thing I liked about Kunjip was the service. Across both visits, the staff was friendly and it never took long for our orders to come out. The latter also speaks to how relatively efficient they are - they do a good job of turning over tables quickly yet it never feels like you are being rushed out. Although I may not have been blown away by what I've tried here, I'd absolutely come back to Kunjip again! After I clear Tobang off my list, that is...

Yelp
We were a party of 4 on a Saturday lunch. None of us had ever been to Kunjip before so we didn't know what to except. But, we were drawn in by the menu mention of galbi and soup. We ordered the Guk Bap and the Maeum Galbi Jjim. They brought us three kinds of kimchi (cucumber, radish, cabbage). It was exactly enough for 4 ladies, without leftovers. Most impressive was the large cuts of galbi in the Maeum Galbi. We all had more than one piece. Extra veggies would have been a plus but the meat was definitely satisfying. I want to come back and try some of the other soups. This time it was a grip consensus. The kimchi was delish! When we asked for a refill on the kimchi, the serve staff seemed really annoyed. Not sure why, most Korean restaurants have banchan refills. Definitely preview the menu before you come. Maybe also be ready to know what you want to order. Because they are popular and busy, we felt the "hurry, order and go" tension. Nice ambiance inside. Nice bustling energy. Will be back! Everything was well made!

Yelp
Food 5/5 Came back to this place twice in a week. Their galbi tang is exceptional. The meat is super tender and falls right off the bone. The cold noodle was good but probably would not re-order unless I was really craving it. The best part about this place is their banchans! They have fresh kimchi that pairs so well with everything! Service 4/5 The aunties here are friendly but they will come up to you right after you're seated to ask if you're ready to order. Ambiance 4.5/5 Overall, I enjoyed the dining area. It is spacious and feels homey. There's always a line so make sure to come early!

Yelp
Got there early and avoided the big wait, which was a good play. Got the side dishes and rice brought out quick and the meal was served very fast too. I got the galbijjim, pretty good portion enough for 2 very hungry people or 3 people. The galbijjim spot Milpitas was definitely better but this one was still pretty good. I'd go back to try something else.

Yelp
Kunjip has been my go-to spot for Korean galbitang and nangmyeon since college, and it still doesn't disappoint! Galbitang is RICH, comforting, and consistently well-made- perfect for when I crave something warm and reminds me of my mom's cooking. On hotter days, I always go for their nangmyeon (or the spicy bibim nangmyeon). The icy broth is incredibly refreshing- honestly, I could drink it on its own. Sadly, they no longer offer unlimited noodle refills for their nangmyeon, but still a solid dish. No reservations. You add yourself to their waitlist at the front when you arrive, and your entire party must be present when called to be seated. Expect long wait times, especially on weekends. That said, once you're seated, the service is quick and efficient. I always look forward to their 10/10 kimchi assortment (radish, cabbage, and cucumber), which the waitstaff will gladly refill throughout your meal if you ask. Prices are a bit steep, but between the consistently home-style flavors and quick service- it's worth the visit and wait ;)
