The Best Korean Restaurants in Santa Clara | Eater SF

"This homey strip mall restaurant features a concise menu focused almost entirely on soups and stews. Almost every table orders at least one of two dishes: the salung tang, a very plain but rich, milky-white ox-bone broth that you season to taste at the table with salt and red-pepper paste; or the sweet-and-spicy galbi jjim, a short rib stew that you cut up at the table with scissors. As an added bonus, the restaurant is open at 9 a.m. every morning, which means it provides a much-needed resource for hard-partying clientele who hope to put salung tang’s famed hangover-curing properties to the test." - Luke Tsai

NYC’s Koreatown Has Been Swallowed Up by Chain Restaurants | Eater NY

"I recall Kunjip as an early Midtown pillar whose success helped spark the proliferation of Korean restaurants on 32nd Street; it's known for its japchae (stir-fried glass noodles with vegetables) and seafood pancakes." - Sam Kim

Food was very good. Delicious and well presented. I had the cheesy Gulbijim and same dish minus the cheese. We also ordered one of the soups. Service was pretty amazing and accommodating. It got busy pretty quickly and wait time for a table can be a bit long BUT plenty of seating. The atmosphere is very friendly and family oriented. Over all I truly loved the experience.

This restaurant was recommended by Google. It had excellent rating. So we decided to have a try. Its food was really absolutely good. We ordered three dishes to share. Mo Deum Soo Yook was the best for three of us. We highly recommended it. It is a mixture of pork meats. Really good. I like spicy food, but I found Galbl Tang more than the spicy one, Guk Bap. Same as other Korean restaurant, there were small dishes as appetizers. The restaurant was clean and good distance between tables. The staff were nice. It was very Korean atmosphere in the restaurant, fall like in Korea. Highly recommend this restaurant for Korean food.

Google
Both service and the food are outstanding! The dining time is limited to 90mins but it's pretty sufficient. Their banchan are great, especially, the shrimp cake. I ordered their appetizer fish one and I highly recommend that. Aside from those we ordered a soon tofu and dolsot bibimbap. Personally I think the bibimbap is more special compared to soon tofu. But overall it's a great experience and we are likely coming back.

I come to this Korean restaurant all the time, and I think their oxtail soup and the cheese beef short ribs are both really delicious. The service is good and the food comes out very fast. Just be prepared to wait over an hour if you come on weekends—especially weekends. One fun thing is that every time you get seated, they give you two bottles of Yakult. I think that’s pretty cute. Overall, this is my go-to Korean restaurant in the South Bay.

If you’re craving truly authentic Korean soups and stews, Kunjip is a gem in Santa Clara that feels straight out of Seoul. From the moment you walk in, the clean marble décor and glowing yellow signage set a refined yet cozy tone. The tables are neatly arranged with scissors, condiments, and utensils ready—everything perfectly organized for a satisfying Korean meal. We arrived around 10:00 AM right after opening and were seated immediately — no wait at all, which made the experience even better. We came for the signature soups, and they were phenomenal. • 🥣 Seollong Tang (Beef Bone Soup) — the broth was beautifully milky and rich, with deep beef flavor from long-simmered bones. It came piping hot in a stone pot with thinly sliced beef brisket and noodles. The taste was gentle and soothing, and you can season it yourself with salt, pepper, and a generous scoop of chopped green onions from the table pot—just like in Korea. • 🍖 Galbitang (Beef Short Rib Soup) — a clear, elegant broth with tender beef ribs that fall right off the bone. The soup was enhanced by the aroma of jujube and egg strips, creating a comforting and slightly sweet flavor. Each meal came with three side dishes (banchan) — kimchi, marinated cucumbers, and radish. All were fresh, crisp, and well-balanced in spice. We also appreciated the small touches: the neat condiments tray with fresh green onions, the clean salt pot, and the friendly service that offered Yakult-style yogurt drinks at the end of the meal — a fun and nostalgic Korean touch! The portion size is generous, and the prices are reasonable for the quality and authenticity. Whether you’re here for energy-boosting Do Ga Ni Tang (ox knee soup) or cold noodles like Naeng Myun in summer, every dish feels crafted with care. Overall, Kunjip delivers a perfect mix of homestyle warmth and restaurant polish. A must-visit spot in Santa Clara if you love Korean soups, or if you want a comforting meal on a chilly morning.

Google
Was really craving seolleongtang since having it in Korea. Found Kunjip and knew I had to try it. The bone broth is amazing and they put a very generous portion of brisket in the soup. The side dishes were also great and they refill them as needed. I highly recommend trying this place if looking for a great soup.

Google
My fav spot in the South Bay for Korean soup. Their Seolleongtang, Galbi Tang, and Galbi Jjim are my go to. Their Seolleongtang is very rich and give a generous amount of beef and noodles. Their Galbi is so tender and flavorful too. They also have exceptional cabbage, radish, and cucumber kimchi which they will refill. Service is always on point and even though lines can be long, they move pretty quick. Def in the moderate price range but worth every dollar. Will be dining here for as long as I can!

Google
One of the top Korean restaurants in the Bay, hands down. I absolutely loved their seol leong tang. The broth was very mild but I could distinctly taste the oxtail flavor. The table also has plenty of fixings and seasonings you can add to your soup. The bonchon while simple is executed menacingly well. My family loved their food too!

Yelp
I came with a party of 4 on a weekday afternoon for lunch. The waiting area was very full. I had to put myself on the Yelp waitlist at the front desk. We ordered the guk bap, galbi tang, mul naengmyun, and seol leong tang to share. Everything was delicious, though the seol leong tang was my favorite once we added some seasoning. I also really enjoyed the guk bap with a spoon of rice. Overall, we had a great experience and will return for more!

Yelp
I'd say I prefer Daeho's Galbi Jjim because it has smaller rice cakes, which I enjoy more. This one was still good and had a more traditional sauce, but it didn't come with as many rice cakes. They also don't let you order the non-spicy version with added cheese. If you want cheese, you have to order the cheese version but request it mild. That actually worked out fine, since it wasn't spicy at all. The side dishes here, though, were definitely better. The soup was also delicious, but for the price, it didn't feel like there was much in it. Overall, the food was tasty, just a bit overpriced. I appreciate the complimentary hot tea. And yakult afterwards. Didn't like the annoying gnat/fly flying around. Add your name to the waitlist. There is a parking lot. Service was average.
google avatar

Lisa N.

Yelp
Worth the hype. Make sure to add your name to the waitlist. Service is attentive. Lots of good selection of authentic Korean dishes. Food came out in a timely manner. Portions here are definitely meant for sharing. My friend and I ordered to share the Galbi tang and Maeun Galbi jjim (w/ cheese) and both of the meat in both dishes was soo soft and tender! So yummy. They give a side of rice which helps when eating the meal. The banchans.. A side of kimchi is so good. I need to come back to try their cold noodle dish! Also, if you see the restaurant filled with lots of Koreans, you know it's legit.

Yelp
Parking: In a plaza with decent size parking lot. Interior: quite packed when I went for dinner on a weekend. A bit loud, good lighting, a bit tight on space but there are big tables for bigger groups. Wait Time: even though it was packed, we got lucky for a table for 2 and did not have to wait. Service was great and good came out in about 10-20min. Items Order: 8/10 Galbi Jim $75 - Expensive but portion size is good enough for 2-3. Meat was very tender, nicely glazed in their sauce and pairs with rice well. Kabocha and carrots were cooked well (soft but not mushy) 8/10 Galbi Tang $27 - broth was delicious, meat was also tender. Solid overall Makgeolli $12 - first time having Korean rice wine but it wasn't for me

Yelp
I've been here once before a year or two back, but I've always thought about their Suyuk. I'm so happy I came back for a solo date and enjoyed the atmosphere of the genuine service of the aunties. Always made sure I was taken care of. It was so sweet. I want to say that I surely did order a whole Suyuk for myself and I do not regret my decision at all. I do wish I changed my rice to the purple rice as I feel it pairs perfectly with the rich broth. The oxtails were tender and the tendons so gelatinous, a whole dream come true. All you need to do is top it with literally just two teaspoons of salt and your choosing of dashes of white pepper. The banchan was perfect, really sour tangy kimchi, subtle sweet marinated cucumbers and the sharp radish kimchi. I'd definitely do it all over again.

Yelp
If you're looking for a warm hearty bowl of soup, this is the perfect place to go. Compared to their new fancy location, this location has a small limited menu with mostly soups, cold noodles, and kalbi jim. My favorite is definitely their kalbi tang which doesn't even require any additional salt and pepper, but their cold noodles are also delicious. Their side dishes are also super on point with flavors and crunch. The restaurant definitely gets super busy during peak hours but service is super fast. Of course, there are pros and cons with everything. With the pros of fast service, the con is that you may feel slightly rushed. Within 1 minute of sitting down you will be asked what you want and often checks may come out in the middle of your meal. However, if you turn around to look at the door with the wall of people, you will understand why the waitresses are rushing a little.

Yelp
Although there's a Yelp waitlist, it doesn't seem to be available on Yelp; you check in when you arrive. I went on a Monday evening and there was a bit of a wait, but we got in within 20 minutes and there was a comfortable waiting area in the front. The menu is short and simple, which makes it very easy to choose. The two of us ordered the guk bap and the cheese maeun galbi jjim. + Guk bap ($23) - 8/10 - This was great. I've never had this before, so I was curious about it. It's labeled as spicy but it didn't taste particularly spicy to me even though I generally have a low heat tolerance. It definitely does have some spice. The meat was very abundant and tender. This would be about 4 servings; we each poured a bowl each and took the rest home. I think the lighter galbi tang may have paired better with the richly flavorful galbi jjim, but I'm glad I tried something new. An excellent choice if you're not getting galbi jjim as it's very filling with all the meat. I think it's a pretty good deal for this price. + Cheese maeun galbi jjim ($82) - 10/10 - I love Daeho but I actually haven't had it in a while, so it's hard to compare. I did think the sauce was incredibly delicious and I'm so excited that I have so much leftover. One small piece of galbi, one giant rice cake, one kabocha slice, and one broccoli with some rice was enough for one serving, and even after splitting it with my friend, I have several large pieces of galbi left. I'm excited to repurpose the leftover sauce for pasta, tofu, and other food. This was absolutely worth it. I left feeling very pleasantly full with a ton of leftovers. It's nice that we get a free Yakult at the end; it's the perfect dessert. The banchan was excellent; I particularly enjoyed the daikon kimchi. I love the hot barley tea (pretty standard). I would definitely come back.

Yelp
Lots of delicious food in this plaza and Kunjip is definitely one of the places you must try! Had their Seollangtang and it's probably one of the better one's I've had here in the South Bay. Served with a bowl of rice and generous servings of kimchi. The salt and green onions readily available off to the side and a cup of hot barley tea. Does it get any better than that? Delicious broth and their radish kimchi was addictive and delicious. I can't say their kimchi is my fave, but it's pretty good and I did finish it. Service was quick and attentive, interior is clean, not too noisy and diners ranged from solo, couples to groups out for lunch. Enjoyed my solo meal and appreciated the little yogurt drink at the end of my meal. Highly recommend and will be back for their other dishes!

Yelp
Still my absolute favorite place for galbitang especially with the weather becoming cold and rainy!! It's a cozy simple but so flavorful beef bone broth soup with short ribs, egg, and noodles with a side of rice. The aunties who work here are extremely nice and always check in on you! Don't forget to ask for refills on your banchan if you finish! Their kimchi is AMAZING.

Yelp
I got Korean cold noodles for the second time and this time it was a little life changing. I thought I didn't like cold noodle but after I had this, I was craving cold noodle all the time. The flavors and textures were really good. I also like the side dishes here. The lady that served us also helped me cut the noodles because she saw me struggling, which was very nice! The interior is big, clean, and well decorated.

Yelp
First time trying Kunjip and it definitely exceeded my expectations! I got the Galbijjim and the beef bone broth soup. The seolleongtang broth soup comes unsalted so you can adjust the flavor using the seasoning at the table, which I wasn't expecting. It comes very bland but after adding seasoning it tasted a lot better. It was my first time trying this so don't do the same mistake as me. Galbijjim was very flavorful, not too sweet or spicy, and had lots of generous chunks of meat. However for the price the portion was definitely smaller than expected (used to Daeho portions serving 3-4 people) but for 2 hungry people it is perfect. Loved the pumpkin it came with and all the side dishes! They are good for groups and also give you probiotic drink for dessert. I would definitely want to try their soondubu jjigae next time, as that seemed to be their most popular item. We were just hungry.

Yelp
I now understand the reason for the long wait here. We were craving hot soup and just came back from Korea and was missing the food. We ended up here and decided to wait. Luckily it was only a 20 min wait BUT it's important to watch your phone because when they tell you to check in, it's important to check in right away otherwise another party who came after you but checked in before you gets the table... ANYWAY... I ordered the Galbi Tang and it was exactly what I needed - warm, filling, with the short rib falling off the bone. Wish I had more noodles but overall it was exactly what we needed. They give you a little cup of sauce with peppers in it and I wasn't sure what to do with it but ended up dipping my meat into the sauce AND MY OH MY! It took the tasty morsel to the NEXT level!! DELICIOUS!! OH and they have a huge bowl on the table of chopped green onions you can add into your soup. So it added even more texture and flavor... Hubby had ordered the Do Ga Ni Tang - an energy tonic soup with oxtail and tendons. Unfortunately they gave him the Galbi Tang - which by then he was so hungry - he went for it. He loved it but we ended up paying a dollar more for the Do Ga Ni Tang even though he got the Galbi Tang. The challenge is the wait staff only speak korean so we decided to not bother for a buck... Next time we definitely will be more diligent about it. He still wants to try the Do Gai Ni Tang... A key to this place is their bonchon... they have the BEST kimchee EVER! Actually all their sides were great complements to our meal. The table next to us actually had them bring extra kimchee three times and we left while they were still eating. Probably got even more... LOL A lot of folks got the galbi jim. But with only two of us and with the soup it seemed like a lot of food. Maybe next time. Definitely will be back...

Yelp
I remember visiting this place years ago and finally came back after many many years to find out it had such a glow up! Place looks much nicer from the last time I visited and looks very much like its sister restaurant (kunjip tofu) but this restaurant is has a more casual vibe and is more traditional. Got their galbi tang and do ga ni tang. Soups did not disappoint - super flavorful and comforting. They only provide 3 side dishes (kimchi, Cucumber, and radish) and gave yakult as "dessert". Highly recommend coming here for their soups!
google avatar

Katherine C.

Yelp
I hadn't come to the Santa Clara location in a while but after this past visit I will definitely be coming back again. In terms of their galbijjim, this is not my favorite place to get it but I would definitely come back for their galbitang - the soup is so flavorful with good depth. This is also my favorite Mul Naengmyun in the bay so far (don't forget to ask for some bibim sauce on the side!). It was crowded even on a Tuesday night so definitely plan ahead to have time to wait and still be seated before closing. The servers that day were pretty busy so I had to be brave and wave them down, but they were quick to respond to our requests.

Yelp
Kunjip is a Korean staple in the South Bay! The menu is fairly limited, but they do every single dish so well. Would recommend coming for an early lunch so you can find parking and avoid a wait. We came around 11AM and were seated immediately. -Galbi Jim: one of the best galbi jims I've ever had! You can really taste the quality in each of the ingredients. The sauce is nice and thick, not watery like some of the other ones I've tried. Lots of meat and vegetables. Everything is very chunky so you definitely need to use the scissors to cut them up into manageable pieces. Their rice cake is the highlight! The biggest rice cake I've ever seen, but it's still so chewy and not overcooked. Since it's so big, you only get 3-4 pieces though. -Seolleong Tang: I like getting a soup along with galbi jim so you get a little variety and a break from all the saucy flavors. It was actually a really big portion with lots of meat. Wish they gave a little more noodles! Soup is great, but remember you have to add our own seasonings! -Banchan: again, not much variety for their banchan but for the ones they do make, they're very good! They have a radish dish that I don't usually see and it was tangy and crunchy. Went really well with the soup.

Yelp
Came here for my third time in the past 4 years and it delivered as usual! Kunjip is the perfect comfort food during a hot day in the Santa Clara area. There's usually a waitlist, so come prepared to wait for a little bit. Because there is usually a wait, I noticed the servers waste no time in seating you and taking your order. The restaurant interior itself was dark but facilitated a calm, social environment. Everything inside was dimly lit, but it made for a great socializing and dining experience. I always get the usual Bibim Naengmyun. It was the perfect blend of cold, vinegary, and refreshing! They have raised the price quite a bit since I started coming here (went from $18 to $22 in 4 years), but I would otherwise say it's worth it for the taste!
google avatar

Kae H.

Yelp
A lot of my friends like this place, and I understand why! We got the galbitang and galbijjim and both were excellent. The galbi had that clear flavor in the soup with clear noodles and tender meat, and the galbijjim had yummy rice cakes - comforting without being overwhelming. They also include a generous spread of banchan, which felt like a real bonus (kimchi, japchae, bean sprouts, and more - all fresh and tasty). The restaurant itself is lively with plenty of tables, but it definitely gets busy and you can tell it's a go-to spot for both locals and tourists. Lots of energy, but service still feels attentive. Overall: 5/5

Yelp
To be honest, I'm not much of a Korean food fan but there will ALWAYS be a place in my heart for Kunjip's galbi tang. The broth is so clean tasting, savory, and flavorful. It just hits the spot every time I come here and I love the glass noodles that come in the soup. The meat is always well seasoned and tender. 10/10 no notes at all. I've also tried the cold noodles and the noodles were perfectly chewy and refreshing! Honorable mention: their galbijjim. Maybe a hot take but I enjoy it more than a certain popular chain... they don't skimp on the meat and there's plenty more meat than bones ;) I also love the cucumber banchans and the sauce with the jalapeno. The service is very fast too, also really digging the new interior ! It's very sleek and aesthetic.

Yelp
This was my second time coming here! Last time we came during rush hour on a weekend back in September and had to do a wait list in-person. This time, we came on a Friday around 3PM. We got seated right away. There were no wait list. Tables were available. Staff was friendly. The food was delicious! We got Galbi Tang and Galbi Jjim to share together. It was a perfect combination with the cold weather. We ended up having some left overs too. Would definitely come back again :)

Yelp
Food: Kunjip is when you want authenticity that meets blast of flavor. Sure, the portion sizes might seem smaller than Daeho's for their Galbi-jjim, but for me, can barely put a dent in it. The seollangtang is amazing for a cold day. You, i mean, YOU, get to salt your own food so if it's too bland, which it WILL be, because it doesn't come with salt, then you can season to YOUR own liking. Don't you love living in a free country? YAS!~~!!!!~~!!!!! Authentic kimchi? right here baby - fermented and spicy with that beautiful sour patch feel. Service: The Korean aunties are amazing and kind. some are quick and you'll need to make sure you get all your asks in at once, but how many accommodations do ya really need? They refill them banchans, just gotta ask. Line: There's always a line and you have to queue up at the kiosk inside the restaurant Portion sizes: perfect for 3 Price: gettin a lil high. 20+ for some soup and beef, but where's the competition?
google avatar

Jianming L.

Yelp
This is lower quality Korean food, Tang is ok, The Galbi meat is very disappointing, $77 price tag, but pre and over cooked, overall doesn't worth it. The cold noodles looks good, we didn't order this time, if I come back again, noodle should be the only to try, but not anything else
google avatar

Hannah Nicole C.

Yelp
Our favorite Korean restaurant for Galbi Tang!!! The staff are so friendly and there's something they put in that broth, cause I can't stop thinking about it! The restaurant is nice and cozy and can get pretty packed. Not gonna lie, I've gone back to back cause it's just that good.
google avatar

Lily M.

Yelp
So delicious!! My friend and I went here to have dinner and catch up, and we ordered the seolleong tang and the bibim naeng myun. It was my first time trying cold noodles and it was such a cool experience (quite literally!) The dish itself was savory but refreshing, quite perfect for a warm summer evening. It paired quite nicely with the warm barley tea that they give at the beginning of your meal. The beef soup that we got was a more gentle dish. When ordering it, it is noted that you need to season to your taste. It's always a fun experience to notice the change of flavor as you add more salt to the dish! The noodles were also very soft, a drastic change from the cold noodles. While there is a decent parking lot in the plaza the restaurant is in, when it is busy it can definitely be hard to find parking! The service was also quick and efficient. They have an in person Yelp waitlist that you can join. The servers are very polite and attentive. While there is no dessert (I believe), they do give you a small yogurt drink (like Yakult) at the end of your meal! A nice sweet treat :)

Yelp
Thanks to everyone on Yelp, I tried Kunjip for the first time. Kunjip is in a little strip mall on the corner of Kiely and Benton. I arrived shortly after they opened, and there was already a line out front. The place was packed when we were seated. Service was fast and efficient, and the tables turned over quickly. Everyone raved about the Galbi Jjim, but that was more of a special occasion, expensive dish, so I tried the Galbi Tang (shortribs) and my friend tried the Seolleong Tang (oxtail) soups. We were served an assortment of banchan, and I loved that there was a dish of green onions. Both of our soups were outstanding! I will definitely be back. Thank you, @kunjip!

Yelp
I came by for a weekday lunch and was happy to see the place buzzing but still easy to grab a seat. The decor has that modern, upscale Korean vibe .. super clean and inviting. The soups were seriously comforting. The do ga ni tang had perfectly tender tendons, and the broth was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. The guk bap came loaded with tender brisket chunks, and the broth had just the right level of spice. Even the kimchi was spot on .. fresh, tangy, and packed with flavor. The servers were friendly and accommodating. I'm already planning my next visit because now I need to try their galbijjim.

Yelp
Upscale Korean restaurant serving Galbi Jim and other Korean soups. Every dish had very tender meats here. It is on the pricier side but worth a try. Does get busy wait times can be long. Started off with their sides. Kimichi, radish, and cucumber. Fermented well. We got the mur naeng mun, a cold noodle dish that tasted refreshing. Sweet from the Korean pear. Next we had the sul leong tang, good amount of brisket and had salt and green onions to taste. The main dish we came here was for the cheese galbi jim. Came sizzling and has generous amount of meat and veggies. The meat was super tender and falls apart easily. Service was ok. We sat in an area that was similar to private room so it was hard to get a hold of the staff. Located in plaza with good amount of parking. Wished the cheese was a bit more melted/broiled. Ended off the night with the yakult like drink.

Yelp
We came around lunch. It was pretty busy, but we were seated relatively quickly as a party of 2. While the restaurant was incredibly busy, it wasn't too noisy. We ordered the galbi jjim, which was more than enough for just us two. It came with a heaping pile of beef, squash, broccoli, carrots, and rice cake. The sauce was incredibly flavorful and clung to everything for sticky goodness. The beef was oh-so-tender, and slid off the bone. The not-meat additions complimented the beef well.

Yelp
Love everything here!! I really like their galbijjim because theirs is not too sweet compared to other places. Also the meat was sooo tender. Bummed that they don't do reservations though :( we waited for 45 mins on a friday night

Yelp
I went to this place thinking that I would get seafood pancake because I saw it on Yelp photos. Once I arrived they didn't have it on the menu. I quickly realized that the menu is pretty limited. Looks like the main special is the braised beef $75. Despite the fact that the food was pretty good, there were more downsides that made me bring the rating down to 3/5 out of five. Probably not return here again. Because there are more options now for similar dishes and they have a lot of competition in the same strip. Naengmyun 4/5 I've eaten a lot of naengmyon .This one hits all the right flavor notes. They have mustard and also vinegar on the side to adjust tastes levels. You don't see that at every Korean restaurant. The beef that they put in there is super high quality and very soft. At $20 I think it's okay. Not the best value, but if you're at this restaurant You're kind of stuck with a limited choice of options. Sellongtang 4/5: This is a bone broth soup w slices of beef and thin noodles. You need to add salt or pepper for taste. It's traditional and very authentic. For some people it could be pretty bland. But it's what I grew up with. They nailed it. Super high quality pieces of beef. Service 5/5: Very attentive service team there. You just need to flag them down when you need something or ready to pay the bill. Downsides: Parking: 2/5 During peak hours like in the evening on a Sunday, the parking is atrocious. I spent driving around a lot about 15-20 minutes before I found something. Also wait time : 40 mins. 6:30 pm 10 people ahead of us .Busy on Sunday evening. I think if you're into the braised beef it's worth the wait. But we just ordered noodles and we could have gotten that at any of the other restaurants that was close by with less wait times. Banchan is limited . If you're accustomed to the location in mountain view, you'll quickly realize that this is a minimal version of that restaurant. In particular, the banchan is only three dishes ( kimchi, cucmber , spicy radish) compared to several dishes at typical Korean restaurants.

Yelp
My friend recently had me try a Korean milky bone broth from a Korean restaurant. I loved it so much that she recommended I go to Kunjip, which specializes in Korean soup. We decided to meet up for dinner at 7pm on a Monday. Kunjip was very clean and modern-looking, and I noticed that the place had great ventilation since it didn't wreak of food fumes. We got a table easily, but the place got busy shortly after we arrived. Good thing we came when we did because the wait in the lobby area looked long. They don't take reservations but had a digital kiosk where you could sign up to be on the waitlist. Our food came out incredibly fast. We got our orders in 5 minutes or less from ordering. We both got the Seol Leong Tang (#1 on the menu), which was the traditional milky ox bone broth I came for. The broth was rich and had a wonderful umami flavor. I appreciated how it was loaded with tender beef brisket. I dressed the soup up with a bit of salt and tons of green onions. Loved taking bites of kimchi with the soup. Only thing I would've liked more was if the noodles were al dente. They were a bit overcooked in my opinion.

Yelp
Discovered Kunjip on a Monday afternoon and were we glad there was no wait! We were surprised to see how modern it was on the inside and they even had a separate room for bigger parties or separate dining. This restaurant was in a little plaza with plenty of parking. I was surprised at how small the menu was compared to other chain Korean places which lead me to believe I would have the authentic Korean experience. We were seated right away and we ordered the galbi jjim with cheese and the galbi tang. I added a few pinches of salt to the galbi tang but otherwise it was perfect. The galbi jjim was a little sweeter than I expected as I was expecting more of an umami flavor. Both dishes had huge pieces of meat and were fall of the bone tender. The rice cake in the galbi jjim is nothing like I ever had and I feel like they were made in house. They gave us cucumber kimchi, kimchi and radish as banchan. They were delish and authentic. Needless to say, we had leftovers but be careful because the takeaway Tupperwares are flimsy. The staff were very responsive and the food came out fast!

Yelp
Really solid place to get naengmyeon and some galbijjim. The meat was tender and had great flavor. The naengmyeon was refreshing. I liked both the regular and bibim version. I really liked the kimchi as well that comes out with the dishes and the overall meal was very filling. This was more than enough for 4 people. The food came out pretty fast as well. The parking lot was pretty full when we got there. The restaurant itself is spacious with tables and some benches to wait. There was a lot of people when we stopped by on a Saturday evening. They use a yelp iPad to join the waitlist. We waited around 30 minutes, but ordered as soon as we were seated. Would definitely come back!!

Yelp
Kunjip has delicious food overall and great quality. My favorite here is the Galbi Tang, which is a beef short rib soup. Perfect for when it's cold or just when I want some nice light soup that's not heavy. I love ban chan sides here, especially the kimchi and cucumbers! Definitely always requesting a refill on those. The Galbi Jjim is good but I prefer the one from Daeho since portion there is bigger and I like the vegetables they add. That's personal preference though. Solid spot and never a let down coming here!

Yelp

Yelp
Recently kunjips quality has deteriorated. It is so salty! I went back three times and each time, I spent the rest of the day and the following day chugging water, with my mouth feeling dryer than the desert. They use so much MSG or sodium to make the soup taste good, which they didn't do previously.

Yelp
I had heard so many great things about Kunjip and was very excited to try. The galbitang is sweet with the jujube and I could see it being super comforting in the winter. Some of the beef was tender and some of it was not. Hwe naengmyeon was quite sweet and one-dimensional in that regard -- portion was insanely large and I felt like it was just noodles for days. The ajumma was disappointed with our naengmyeon mixing skills to the point where she came over to mix it for us The banchan is very limited: the kimchi is very sweet-forward and very fresh, cucumber was not spicy (sesame oil + sugar were most prominent flavors) but I liked the balance, and the kkakdugi was a mushy crunch, which was not my favorite but that is personal preference.

Yelp
Galji tang- beef soup is amazing, the beef in it is so tender and flavorful. It's a good match with the glass noodles. Maeun galbi jjim- beef with rice cake and sweet pumpkin, I love the sauce, it's awesome to eat with rice. Everything is so delicious except their complimentary side dishes is disappointing and the rice cake in Maeun galji jjim is too thick and lack of flavor. They gave complementary yogurt drinks, cute tiny treats to complete the meal.

Yelp
Galbi Tang here is so good - super hot and savory. Good cold Banchan with the spicy jalapeño, kimchi, cucumber, and spicy radish. They use a yelp waitlist and it took us about 20 min to get seated for a party of 3 on a Sunday for lunch. Food came out really quickly. Service is okay, not super attentive but fast. One bathroom for each gender in the back. Will be back to try their Galbi Jim.

Yelp
Galbi jiim (spicy) was very good- the spice was a tasty one and wasn't overwhemingly spicy. First time ordering this and would get it again! Love that it came with pumpkin, rice cake, broccoli and carrots. There were only 2 parties ahead of us and we got lucky to get seated after a few minutes around 7pm on a Monday. Decent amount of meat for the price and we were able to finish and be full amongst two people. Even though the restaurant was packed, you can still hear the person across from you. The staff are very nice if you've any questions. The renovations make the place more modern and allows for more seating at the window Always a staple when visiting south bay!

Yelp
We only waited about 20-25 minutes with 9 groups ahead of our party of 4. We brought 2 of our friends to try our favorite spot to get Galbi Tang and they left with happy bellies. We ordered 3 Galbi Tangs for 4 people. Guys had their own order and the girls shared. Food came out quickly as always. Pro tip: use the scissors to cut the meat off the bone and into smaller bite size pieces

Yelp
Came here for dinner with friends. I got the spicy cold noodles. They were delicious and were the perfect texture. They have the sauces on the table you can add to adjust the flavor to your liking. My friends all got soups they all enjoyed it. I wasn't a fan since it was soybean paste based. Service is good and fast. They also give a yakult at the end of your meal!

Yelp
I did not enjoy the kalbijjim over at Kunjip but I think they might be known for their other dishes. The meat wasn't as tender as it could be and the sauce left more to be desired. I got it mild but it was also really spicy. They had Yelp waitlist but I didn't know so I added myself when I got there and had a short less than 15 minute wait on a weekday night. Sat down as a party of 2 and was confused because we got 1 tea cup and 1 water cup. Looked normal as we glanced at other tables. A bit weird though. Also sadly we got sat at the communal table. I wouldn't have minded waiting longer to not get that!!

Yelp
5 Stars for the Real Deal Sullungtang. The base broth is rich and creamy, exactly what sullungtang should be, and once you season to taste it comes out perfect. The meat is tender, and the side dishes are minimal but just right to pair with the soup. The modern decor gives the place a fresh feel, and it has quickly become my favorite sullungtang in the area, though it does get busy after 6.

Yelp
Recently came to Kunjip twice, week after week. The experience has been welcoming and delicious. Arriving around 10:30am each time, we got seated right away (the waitlist seems to start around 11:15am, so get her earlier if you want to avoid the wait. The kalbi rice cake was legendary (true to their word). And the soups were equally good. Will definitely come back in the future.

Yelp
Very nice decor and dinner vibe. The service was interesting, they were like always around but not very helpful ( didn't take away the hand washing towels, touched my friends spoon at the eating part with their bare hands when making space for the tray, didn't check in mid meal, took forever to get the check). Seafood pancake 3.5/5 it tasted good but not the texture you would expect... it's more similar to the taro puff from dim sum. There was 3 of us and we didn't finish it... Mixed combo tofu soup 3.5/5 it tasted good but it was creamier than expected. I asked for mild but it wasn't spicy at all. Would definitely recommend medium spice and up. I did like how they packed it with seafood and meat though! The banchan were pretty average, I think I was expecting more given the price ($27). They are refillable , but we ended up not getting anything refilled because they weren't stand-out at all. The best part was the rice. Not sure if I would come back.

Yelp
My all time favorite korean restaurant in the bay area!! This spot serves galbi jjim, different korean soups, and cold noodles. I've tried almost everything on their menu and have never been disappointed in the quality of the food! This is definitely a go-to korean spot for my friends and family. The service is also super quick, but usually there is a 30-40 min wait to get in on the weekends. They recently redid the interior of the restaurant, so the inside is super clean!

Yelp
Tucked inside a small strip mall with plenty of parking, which is always a plus. We came right when they opened--something we like to do because it often feels like the food is fresher at the start of the day. Known for their bone broth soups, and I ordered the dogani tang, a rich bone broth soup with a generous amount of tendon. The broth was incredibly flavorful, deeply nourishing, and served beautifully with a single jujube floating on top. It's the kind of soup that really sticks to your bones in the best way. Each soup comes with a bowl of perfectly cooked white rice and a set of three banchan (Korean side dishes), including radish kimchi and regular kimchi and cucumber kimchi which is typically the main banchans for tang place. The broth will comes unseasoned--there's salt at the table so you can taste the broth first and season to your liking. The portion size is generous--easily enough for two to share. A must is their Hwe Naengmyun, a cold noodle dish with spicy sauce and raw fish (skate). This version was outstanding--perfectly balanced spice and a delicately chewy fish. The flavors were bold, refreshing, and exactly what you want in a naengmyeon. Typical Naengmyun comes with icy tangy broth this one is no broth. The facility was clean, the service was fast and friendly, and there was no wait when we went. We enjoyed it so much, my mom and I returned again just for the cold noodles. Definitely worth the trip from San Francisco--highly recommend!

Yelp
This place is the truth. The food is exemplary, the service is spot on, and the place is clean. The seating is spacious. The food here is served family style rather than individual and is priced as such. So let's start off with the service. All the ladies there are more than happy to help you and they're always on the move. They check in and are prompt with getting you whatever you request from them. They even asked if we wanted an extra pair of chopsticks for the table to use. They have salt, pepper, mustard, vinegar, and green onion. The seol leong tang was warm and comforting. Unlike a good bit of reviewers, I actually read that you have to salt and pepper it yourself. The cheese galbi was excellent. They meat was cooked so it was fall off the bone tender but still kept its shape. The rest of the ingredients were all the same. Tender while holding its shape. These were the best rice cakes we've had. Not too much heat though. Like 1/8th of a jalapeno. The banchan were great. Not too salty. Not too sour. Great flavor. Limited to just cabbage, cucumber, and daikon. You get a Yakult to wash everything down. They just keep it cool though, not cold, sadly.

Yelp
Came with a group of 7 around 7:00pm on a Sunday night and waited about 20-30 minutes. We were served hot tea and had our order taken quickly. Food came out fast. The restaurant is pretty small but well-decorated and not cramped. We ordered 2 galbi jjim, a soup, and cold noodles and it was a good amount of food for 7. The food was great, my favorites being the cold noodles and the maeun galbi jjim. I would recommend the spicy galbi jjim over the regular (it wasn't really spicy, and the regular one was a tiny bit salty). It is definitely expensive, our total ended up being almost $40 each for a normal amount of food, but it is high quality. Wouldn't come again for a casual dinner, but maybe for a special occasion or if you don't mind splurging on a good meal.
