The Best Sushi Spots in Philly

"At the casual Philly location of international chain Kura, a revolving belt conveys an endless selection of fresh sushi combos and other Japanese-style dishes right to your seat while a robot brings the drinks. Thanks to seasonal menu updates, at any given time you can order over 90 fresh items, including seaweed hand rolls and pieces of nigiri or gunkan (a small oval ball of sushi rice wrapped around with nori seaweed and topped with other ingredients). In the mood for something warm? Kura also offers bowls of udon or ramen noodles like a tonkotsu ramen with braised pork, boiled egg, green onion, and garlic chips." - Ernest Owens

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar - Review - Rittenhouse - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is a futuristic fast-food Japanese spot serving dishes via conveyor belt just off Rittenhouse Square. The two-level, Tetris-themed chain restaurant circulates dishes like sushi rolls, nigiri, and dumplings for customers to grab directly from their table, or you can order from the full menu via a tableside tablet. The beep-bop-boop-bop doesn’t end there–a robot playing rock and roll delivers the drinks, while a prize machine shoots out rewards like temporary tattoos for every 15 plates you eat. Yes, it’s ridiculous, but it’s also pretty fun, and the food is solid enough for a quick and casual meal. You can’t go wrong with the seared salmon with Japanese mayo or hamachi tataki with ponzu oil, but steer clear of the bland and too-chewy tonkotsu ramen." - Alison B. Kessler

I enjoyed my time here at Kura Sushi. I was actually surprised to see one here in Philly. I had to come and try it out. The service was good and the food was fresh. I loved the different kinds of sushi they have available just rotating around. This did bring me back to when I was in Japan (懐かしい). I will definitely come back again and encourage all the sushi lovers to come along. They also have ramen as well among other things to try. この場所はすばらしい。

Google
Went here with a work buddy and had a great time! The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and there was an impressive variety to choose from. Even the cheesecake and butter pie were delicious — a sweet surprise at a sushi spot. Highly recommend for both quality food and a fun atmosphere!

Google
Disappointing compared to the one in Little Tokyo. Both variety and quality were markedly different. Somewhat the same set up, check in on the kiosk, but the hostess was seating 1-2 people whenever. The conveyor zigzags the seating area, with the regular sushi on rotation and the upper belt for special orders. Once I sat down and ordered my drink I watched the belt to see what was available. I could tell immediately that it wasn't going to have the same selection as out West, and was limited to fairly basic rolls. I was also stuck down wind from another group who liked the same rolls as me and pods were always empty when they rolled past. Between special ordering and waiting it out, I did get my fill of mackeral. I never did get that salmon skin though. I was hoping to try some new things, but everything on regular rotation was familiar. Quality was meh, I didn't feel cheated but again LA's was better. Their kitchen seems smaller, and they were struggling a little to keep up with demand. My order took so long I almost forgot about it.

Google
Fun experience. I don't regret going but wouldn't go back. Server was super friendly and it was clean and well maintained. The sushi is ok, rice was kind of mushy. I got the shrimp tempura upon. It was two shrimp, some green onion and a watery broth. No way to customize or add anything. No vegetarian ramen options. I think they need to change the fryer oil, it seemed old tasting. Also, not a fan of the community ginger that is kept on the table open to each guest. Seems unsanitary.

We visited Kura Revolving Sushi Bar on a Friday during dinner time, and it was definitely busy, but the wait line moved surprisingly fast. The restaurant was clean and had a very interesting setup. It took us a few minutes to figure out how the food belt system worked, but once we got the hang of it, it was fun and unique! We tried sushi and some sushi wraps – the food was fresh and tasty, though the portions were small for the price. Overall, it’s a cool experience, but it can be a bit pricey. Worth a visit for the novelty!

Google
A very unique experience, first time having revolving sushi. Was really fun and never felt rushed to grab food or leave. We had one issue with a small hair on one of the plates but we notified staff, they asked what it looked liked, and talked to the staff member who it would be. They were very nice about it and it didn’t happen again. The seating booths are a little small and close but it was still comfortable to seat 4 people. The food itself was very good and everything we wanted was being served. The price adds up quick but it’s also worth paying a little extra to have a wide variety of foods to try and eat. If you’re looking for the bathrooms, head to the back of the restaurant and take the elevator to the basement and follow the signs. Fun claw machines upstairs to play before/after (spent almost more than I spent on food)

Google
I doordash it today and ordered Seared Salmon with salmon miso cream cheese- it arrived so messy. How they seared the salmon got too well done so it’s not as tender as I wanted and the miso cream it’s like a dot. It’s like they skimp the ingredients. It’s supposed to be seared nicely but nope it’s overcooked The Salmon Toro- no wonder it’s but one get one free, the salmon cut like paper thin. The bbq Eel same thing it’s so very thinly slice I had better sushi in the city even if I doordash it. It took me a long time to want to order from Kura and today the day I decided to order from doordash. Also the sushi rice is too cold it’s not room temperature. Sorry won’t ever order sushi in this place. One time is good for me.

Karla Lopez

Google
Such a cool experience! There was a little robot that brought drinks a wide selection of sushi rotations and a few desserts. It was cool you could also do an order that would be sent on a separate belt. Definitely going again!

Yelp
Our children still talk about the "robot sushi" place and are itching to go again. We passed Kura Revolving Sushi Bar on our way to Puttshack and thought if it looked like tables were open we'd stop in on our way home. We were in luck! It was early and we were able to walk right in. The staff quickly explained how things worked and we were off! We had so much fun watching the conveyor belt and figuring out what we wanted. If something was "sold out" before it got to you, you were able to order on the screen. My rating is definitely higher because of the fun atmosphere and experience. The sushi itself was good, but there are certainly better places within the city. And it adds up quickly! It's much harder to gauge what you're spending one piece at a time!! If you're in the area, give this spot a try, you'll have a blast for sure!

Yelp
Guys!!! I love conveyer sushi! And this place has decent sushi for a good price. Why the one star? First - why do I need to check on a stupid iPad? Why do you need my phone number? Especially if there's no wait? You do not need this information. 2nd, why must order on a damn machine? I go to restaurants to escape my frogging phone. 3rd - the staff is nice but seem brain dead. I asked for water was told I needed to order it on the iPad. You've got to be kidding me. Stop!!!
google avatar

Samantha M.

Yelp
It's ok I mean service was fast, I would say they had a lot of variety but also had the classsics like spider rolls.
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
Definitely average overall. Reasonable price, you get about three or four pieces of sushi for $3.75 a plate. Not a lot coming around was what I wanted so I did have to order it from the menu and one of the items I ordered from the menu never showed up so that kind of sucked. If you've never been to a revolving sushi bar, you might enjoy the novelty. Kind of annoying that you have to take an elevator downstairs to use the restroom though.

Yelp
My daughter in law heard of this place. We just happened to be going by it, and she got so excited. She wanted to go inside to take pictures. Once we ventured in, we decided to give it a try for lunch. It looked fun and definitely a unique and different dining experience. We were seated by a "human" and given directions on the ordering process. Drinks arrive by the cutest lil robot. He is your waiter and interaction the entire time. Lots of unusual items to choose from for dishes and desserts. I won't give it all away. Have to have some surprises in life. We had fun seeing all the different sushis and deciding what to try. We laughed a lot. Thanks Yelp for the coupon for free order of real crab California rolls (offer pops up after checking in). Not sure if I would try it again as I am not a sushi fan, but I loved this experience and trying something new.

Yelp
I love Kura! I've been with my boyfriend's family a couple of times, and it's always a great experience. We went tonight and the staff was incredible, checking in to make sure our drinks got refilled and that we were doing well. I love the little robot that roams around, he's super cute and unique. Everything is delicious, great variety of dishes, and the prizes are so fun. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Took a while to be seated. There were 6 of us. The host said it would be a 20 min wait, then came back after 20 mins saying that the party before us didn't appear to be leaving anytime soon but they could seat us in two separate groups. We agreed bc we were hungy but that kinda defeats the purpose of trying to spend time and eat with other ppl. Food was ok. There was only 1 roll I really liked. The experience and ambiance were nice. Can't speak on the service given the type of restaurant this is. You don't actually have a server. Very clean. However, you had to hike a mile to get to the bathroom. Go down a hall, to an elevator, take that down, go down another long hall....ugh. And the sushi was way way over priced.
google avatar

Yelp
I would not recommend this place. The sushi quality is quite bad. You can definitely tell that the ingredients are lower quality and the sushi isn't very flavorful, at times the texture is gross. The price for what you get is way too high. You get three (or two, for the fancier types) pieces for $3.55. It's on the high side for sushi, but the product is quite low quality. There are also a lot of flies at Kura. I don't know what the issue is (we came in the winter) but it's pretty inexcusable for a place that has food regularly exposed to the air for long periods of time. It hurts the ambiance significantly. The converter belt aspect is fun but the execution is terrible. It could be a great vibe if the product were significantly overhauled. It would be nice to slowly sit and eat for a while and pace yourself. There's also a robot that automatically brings drinks which is fun. Still, the novelty of conveyer belt sushi is not worth braving the flies, mediocre to bad sushi, and too-high prices. There are better options for sushi in center city.

Yelp
This is second time coming to kura franchise First time was in NJ location, which left me huge disappointment My friend mentioned new location in philly I decided to give it a try. I was super hungry, starving So as soon as we were seated, i started picking up food My partner wanted to go to bathroom so i asked waiter to show the bathroom, i got the impression he was bit hesitant(?) for some reason, And i pressed call button and waited for long time but the server did not show up for long i ended up going and grabbing chopsticks by myself Food were generally in average way better than NJ location though But not all were fresh Considering each plates cost about starting at $ 3.98, its hit or miss.. total came out little less than $120 for 2

Yelp
So fun for the experience and the option to easily try something new! Not the greatest sushi by any means, wish it had more flavor. Service is okay for it always being busy. Come and expect to wait for a table but it's pretty worth it for a funky dining moment!

Gilbert M.

Yelp
Pretty chaotic environment when there's a crowd. When eating, there's virtually no place to throw trash except somewhere on your table. Food was way overpriced for what it is, the actual food quality was mid. Will not come back.
google avatar

Lydia E.

Yelp
So much fun! The sushi train revolves at all times and is priced by the plate. If you see something on the menu you want, you can order it "fast tracked" directly to your table. Prices are very reasonable and it's serve yourself from your table and get your drinks from a robot waiter. Only time you'll talk to a human server is when you're seated and if you order alcohol. Truly an immersive experience 10000% worth the visit.

Yelp
Had a blast at this spot but holy price tag. We ended up having like a $150 lunch for three people. I'm not saying it's not our own fault - we just kept eating and eating and grabbing more sushi plates, but just a word of caution that it adds up fast! Price aside, this is a fun spot with good sushi. Favorites were the Spanish mackerel, the multiple salmon nigiri with extra flavors like garlic ponzu, and the multiple toro varieties. I also liked that they had refreshing watermelon rotating around and a few non sushi options. One cool thing is Kirby, the drink serving robot. You order your drink & the little robot comes out to deliver them. Overall it's a fun location that's pretty busy but doesn't feel like it, and it has a Japanese style arcade upstairs. Beware that the bathroom is like a dungeons & dragons quest to get to.

Yelp
Revolving sushi is fun when the conveyor belt has plenty of food and plenty of variety. Kura Revolving Sushi Bar makes it as easy as possible. Most of the process is automated. Add your name to the waitlist and get a text notification when your table is ready. A server takes you to your table and asks if you have been to Kura before. If you have not, they will explain the process. After that, start grabbing food from the conveyor belt or place an order from the tablet. Any drink items you order will come from the super adorable robot. Drop the empty plates in the slot. There is a mini video for every 5 plates, and you get a gachapon item after 15 plates. Once you are done with your meal, check out on the tablet. If you want your rewards program scanned or have a coupon to use, request to check out with the server. Each plate on the conveyor belt is $3.55, but there are higher priced items, such as ramen and rice, on the menu and orderable via the tablet. The conveyor belt has an assortment of nigiri and rolls. Most nigiri plates have 2 pieces, and the rolls are 3 to 4 pieces. I generally like anything with salmon or beef, and I like the Kura roll. It just depends on what you like. The food is good quality for the price unless you are getting a plate of watermelon or the Harajuku summer salad. Those are are rip-offs, but they balance out with the higher value plates. The wait is not that bad. It used to be ridiculously long when they first opened, but the hype has calmed down. Revolving sushi can be either a quick meal or a longer one. I prefer taking my time and waiting on the conveyor belt rather than ordering from the tablet. Sometimes the conveyor belt is a little empty, but I will order from the tablet if something I really want is not coming out on the conveyor belt. $3.55 per plate is affordable, but it can add up quickly if you are really hungry and have a big appetite. Sign up for the rewards program if you are going to be spending a lot because every $50 spent gets you a $5 off of a $15 minimum coupon.

Yelp
Best value and lots of fun! Taste of Tokyo culture right in Center City on Chestnut! Rolls and ramen, robots and rice (lots of it!). Best quick in-and-out. Just sit down, take a few plates from the conveyor, pay on-screen, and you're out! Max 10-15 minutes if you want! + Get the app for rewards (10% off frequent-plate program) and for quick payment. + Not much on the belt at the moment? Order anything you want, made fresh from the screen just above your table. + one-price for all plates. deposit empty plates in the slot and they're automatically counted for your check! + super casual vibe, robot to serve your soft drinks and tea, server brings your alcohol, order everything on the screen! BESTS + tamago (egg cake) never disappoints + Kura roll + Crunchy or Crunchy Salmon roll + Ramen (4 to choose from!) + anything with Yuzu on it. Strong! CELEBRATING! !!! one year of valuable and fun sushi good times at Kura! And just got my 500-plate badge in the app! I am seriously addicted to this gimmick! so fun! !!! TRICKS + The restroom is a bit of a treasure hunt to find. Count the number of arrow signs for a prize! (just kidding) Zig-zag and weave your way to the back of the restaurant, take the elevator down one floor, then follow the arrows through the labyrinth of hallways! FUN! + Keep your phone's QR code scanner handy as you deposit plates! Kura will share the secrets of the hidden recipe on screen above your table! + Get 15 plates and a prize ball will drop from up top with a special surprise inside!

Yelp
There was no wait when I arrived for lunch on Saturday. The gatcha machine waiting area upstairs is cute and adds a fun touch. The sushi was good, especially the bluefin tuna and scallop! They currently have a One Piece collaboration, and I was able to get a gatcha prize after 15 plates. If you spend over $80, you receive a free One Piece cooling mat. I enjoyed the experience of conveyor belt sushi here. However, the bathroom was a bit inconvenient, as you need to take the elevator down to the basement.

Yelp
I love, love, love this place. I mean, it isn't the best sushi place out there, but there is something about quick service this place offers that is amazing. There is a robot that brings drinks (green tea, water, etc). The converter belt is constantly being refilled with food. Ordering food on the machine brings fresh food that might not be on the converter belt right to your seat on a top belt. There is a prize if you dispose of 15 plates of food (these are plates that are $3.55 each only. We didn't realize this when we ordered some of our dishes). We had the salmon sashimi but it was very tiny silvers of meat. The desserts are my favorite thing at Kura. I loved the Taiyaki Ice Cream. It is basically hot dough with red bean on top of vanilla ice cream. I highly recommend getting that. I also enjoyed the sesame balls (they were so soft and chewy).

Yelp
I've had Kura Sushi on my list to try for months so my husband and I decided to stop by on a Thursday night on a whim. We're so glad we did because there was no wait and the conveyor belt was kept full during our whole visit. We joked that it was probably the fastest meal we've had since we just kept grabbing plates and eating. In about 30-45 minutes we cleared close to 30 plates, LOL. I love the self service aspect of the restaurant- ordering drinks and extra food items through the screen at your table. The cutest part is the fact that you win a prize for ever 15 plates you finish! Will definitely be back because everything was reasonably priced and it was one the the least expensive sushi meals we've had lately.
google avatar

Retna S.

Yelp
Finally I tried this restaurant on a Monday night. You have to check in first then the waiter would call you. There was no wait time, we got seated right away. Because it was our first time, the waiter explained how to take the plate from the conveyor belt and let us practice from the sample plate. You order your drink from the screen then a robot would come to deliver it. If you can't find what you want on the conveyor belt, you can order from the screen and it will be delivered from the top belt. My sashimi took forever to arrive. They also have Wagyu beef sushi. Overall, the food was decent. For dessert, I recommend deep-fried taiyaki with red bean filling, served with vanilla ice cream. Be ready to pay some $$$$. You can check out from the screen and pay the bill with Apple Pay.

Yelp
Sushi bar with delicious small platters. Phone claims location was busy but found plenty of seating when arrived on xmas. Lower number seats get first preference on recently made items but order system can shot any platter to your table in minutes. Can get a toy after depositing 15 dishes. Note that certain platter options don't provide you the correct sized plate to count for the toy selection (if you're aiming for it, lol). It is annoying pulling out plates but can get a hang of it by knowing the trigger is to move the inner plate up.
google avatar

Tiffany T.

Yelp
I've been becoming a regular at Kura since they opened. The last couple of times I've come on the weekend with 1-3 other guests and have only had to wait 12 minutes tops via the wait system. My favorites remain the nigiris with yuzu jalapeno, the toro, scallop, and miso cream cheese. Last time, I tried their taiyaki for the first time, and was pleasantly surprised! It's good and worth it imo, unlike the hokkaido milk tart.
google avatar

Altinay A.

Yelp
So happy to have a sushi conveyor belt place in Philly now ! I thought it was interesting to not have any servers lol but was a cool experience as everything is on a conveyor belt. Each plate is a set price and you pay per plate. I really enjoyed the uni , and the eel nigiri. Excellent quality of eel. I can just eat that all day. The other roll I liked was the snow crab and the one with the egg on it (it was super creamy)
google avatar

Adamal D.

Yelp
Food quality is good for the price. There's definitely higher quality sushi nearby but this works when grabbing a take out lunch for the office. Best move is to order ahead as prep time can be 40 minutes.
google avatar

Linette S.

Yelp
The quality of the sushi is great. However, if you're thinking about grabbing something, don't double think it and just take it. I hesitated to grab the crispy rice and waited until it came back; it never did. I tried to order it on the tablet and it wasn't available. Turns out a table before me snatched up all the crispy rice and there were none left. This was within the first hour of them opening, so it wasn't even super busy.
google avatar

Yelp
I went with my little family for lunch on a Monday. I love rotation sushi bars and was happy to finally try this location. The specials for this month are different salmon and shrimp sushi which I was a big fan of! You basically pick up what you want and if they don't have it you can order from the fun touchscreen. We tried everything from octopus, king salmon, sweet large shrimp etc. Everything was very fresh and had great flavors. I didn't care for the waygu beef one. My only gripe with this place is that it is pretty pricey for the amount of food you can get and the bathrooms are in a weird location. The bathrooms have japanese toilets and noone seems to know how to flush so I would suggest putting up signs to tell people how to flush (it was kind of gross). Other than that it was a fun experience! My husband enjoyed it a lot.
google avatar

Morgan P.

Yelp
Amazing sushi, very clean. Bathrooms are kinda hard to get to but it's fine. The people were kind and the little robot guy was adorable and fast. When you ask for service, they will immediately come over.
google avatar

Yelp
Decent sushi, plus a side of entertainment. I weekday lunched here months ago. Wasn't crowded. Decent amount of seating, can handle a crowd. You're charged per plate taken from the conveyor belt: - Finish the food on the plate, then deposit the plate into a slot at your table. - Deposit enough plates and an animation plays on a nearby screen. We saw the animation. We laughed! - If you keep depositing plates? You'll get a toy. We got a toy. - If you KEEP depositing, like we did? You'll leave stuffed. Loved many dishes, but hated the watermelon salad. As long as you're not picky, you should be satisfied. They've got meat and fish options. If you're a vegetarian... why are you reading? :p Kura's novelty, food quality, convenience, and value adds up to a solid 3.5-star experience for me. Would do again! There's a loyalty program so you can earn points and discounts per meal. Unfortunately I feel the points expire fast, faster than I'd be able to justify repeat visits. But your mileage may vary.
google avatar

Yelp
Pro: delicious and efficient! The conveyor belt system of delivery is one that I've always been intrigued by since my first time in Japan. Kura Sushi excels at this delivery scheme by getting your food to you with mechanized precision. Diners can either select options from the rotating belt or special order dishes from the individualized kiosk at one's seat. Stars of the show included the Spanish mackerel, salmon toro nigiri, conch nigiri, and spicy yellowtail hand-roll. Con: Not sure how this establishment works for larger group. Also, the sea urchin nigiri was a tad bit bitter. Bottom Line: Is it deliciously efficient? Or efficiently delicious? You decide!
google avatar

Kase M.

Yelp
It's a fun experience. The options are decent. Basic rolls and sashimi options. The robot that brings drinks is pretty cool. If you eat 15 plates of food you get a prize. I don't think the food is anything to rave about but it's a nice place to get quick bite.
google avatar

Tiffany Z.

Yelp
Okay so I've been to several Kura locations already. I would say at first this location seems like it was the best? But then upon visiting this location two weeks later... food quality kind of went down. The tamago tasted like it just came out a freezer... and it took forever to get there. I'm not sure what was going on that day, but the conveyor belt was empty af, and orders took awhile and it wasn't even busy. I'm not sure if it's worth finding parking for anymore.

Yelp
A fun way of dining has come to Philly! I visited within the first week or two of the location opening. At that time, they were not accepting reservations or allowing you to put your name in on the app. Upon arrival, you enter your name, party size, seating preference (bar vs table), and phone number on an iPad. They text you a ticket number and wait time. During my experience: At around 11:46am on a Saturday, I was given a waiting time of 75 minutes. At 12:15, I was sent a text saying my table was ready. I got there at 12:30 and they were just calling my name (which was great - they give you time to get there!). There's really no waiter service (unless you click the help button on the screen at your table). You order all of your drinks, apps, food on this menu. All food is delivered on the top conveyor belt. The bottom conveyor belt has a variety of dishes and you can just grab it off the belt when you want. All drinks are delivered via a robot! It plays a happy little song so you can hear it coming. It comes quite fast too! There's not much need for bussers either because there is a slot at the table under the conveyor belt to push used plates into.

Yelp
Excellent adventure, wonderful waitstaff especially helpful since this was a new experience. Decent sushi especially for the price and an overall fun experience. Nice ambiance. We'll be back!

Yelp
I came here three times in the past few weeks because I enjoyed the sushi so much! I love the sweet shrimp and the seared salmon plates. Other items such as squid, tuna, and crab meat were good too! When I placed an order through the touch screen, the items came out at a reasonable time and they are fresh! My least favorite were the ramen and the udon dishes. I would just stick to the sushi. The service was good! I like coming here!

Yelp
Been waiting for Kura Revolving Sushi to open for the past 8 months and it's finally here! We went to check it out on Opening Week. By the time we arrived at 6pm, there was already a 1-1.5 hour wait. The upstairs section of the restaurant was not opened at the time, which further limited available seating. We quickly put our names down on the waitlist and went over to a nearby bar for drinks since they were pending their liquor license and would not be selling alcoholic beverages for another 2 weeks. About an hour later, we returned to Kura. As we were brought to our table, we realized there were more tables in the back of the restaurant! There is also an elevator to take you downstairs where the bathrooms are. You really can't tell how big this place is from the outside! Anyway, our waiter gave us a brief but detailed explanation of how the prize system works - you will be rewarded with a random prize for every 15 plates you eat and deposit in the plate disposal slot. Our waiter also mentioned there are certain plates that do not go into the slot, for those, he can come by our table to pick them up. Meanwhile, a short lil robot was navigating the floor and delivering drinks to tables. So cute! We were pretty hungry and were noticing a lot of empty plates on the conveyor belt. We grabbed and ate a few plates from the main conveyor belt, but after a while, we decided to place some orders on the tablet. One good thing about Kura is that there are two conveyor belts -- the main conveyor belt, and the special-order conveyor belt above the main conveyor belt. If you don't see anything you want on the main conveyor belt, you can choose from the tablet what you want to order, and it will be delivered to you on the special-order conveyor belt, provided it's not soup or ramen. I believe your waiter or the robot would bring that to the table. All our special orders were made and delivered to us very promptly. We ate and deposited 15 plates with no problem. The prize we ended up getting was silly but overall, we had so much fun. For $3.55/plate of sushi, this was not an expensive meal, and we cannot wait to come back again.

Yelp
First time here and truthfully I will not return. I came here on Wednesday night around 6:40 with a party of three. To start off, the drink's section was extremely limited. The menu had 2 different beers, diet coke, green tea (iced or warm) and water. Moving onto food, almost everything had shrimp in it (I have a shrimp allergy). Its not accommodating to individuals with allergies which is extremely disappointing. Everything we ordered took extremely long. The conveyor belts were empty the entire time we were there. The only available food items on the conveyor belt were cheesecake and 2 sushi rolls. At one point we were waiting so long for our food that we ended up asking to cancel it. We also had a situation where we ordered an item and it said it was delivered to our table, but we never received it. We asked a staff member if we could re-order it and they said they'll do it and they never did. At the end we had to double check our bill and for the inconvenience they gave us two toys to make up for the trouble. Which is extremely bizarre since my party was over the age of 25 and I'm not sure what a toy is going to do. Overall, the service is extremely slow, the food was cold/limited and it's definitely not worth the wait.

Yelp
Recently opened sushi joint in center city! What more, it is a rotating belt sushi restaurant, which is rather unique and limited in this country. I'm pretty sure it's much more popular overseas. Anyway, great spot and enjoyed my time here! You can check in virtually at the front on a monitor or online and then come back later. It currently can become very busy since it's new and "hip," so come early or be prepared. Also FYI, you have to take an elevator down to get to the bathroom, which is a little annoying. The food is of decent quality. They have some of the typical sushi but also ones you might not have had (like steak sushi). You can either take it from the belt or order it directly from a monitor at your table. There's this little robot that will bring you beverages, which I thought was cool. Be ready to spend a good amount of $$ if you tend to eat a lot or like to indulge yourself. Would definitely recommend to come try in addition to a once-in-awhile indulgement! Pros: Fun sushi joint with conveyor belt Cons: Busy, can get costly. elevator to get to bathroom Rating: 7.5/10

Yelp
This is the first revolving sushi bar opened in Philly and I was so happy that they finally opened one in my city!! They currently only opened the first floor of the dining area (Jan. 2023). The overall first impression was clean & it really made me feel like I'm in Japan! They only do walk-in waiting in Philly but you could download their app for the online waitlist for other cities. Food was definitely fresh and didn't have any fishy smell at all! They have some unique combinations sushi dishes you can also try out! The rice portion of sushi was not too many and the texture & sourness were perfect (I think they used really good Japanese sushi rice)! Among all the dishes, you MUST TRY their "Scallops"!! I had 5 plates just for scallops!! I was also glad that they had the sea urchins & sweet shrimps. But they didn't have some dishes offered like any yukhoe or eel sushi. Their tempura was okay because the crunchiness was okay but too oily too. For desserts, I was not expecting too much since this is more a sushi focused place, but I was surprised by their "Warabimochi", the jelly-like mochi perfectly sweetened with the soybean powder! The downside of this place were the options of sashimi (they only offered three types: tuna, salmon, yellowtail), the service was a bit slow when we call for help, and you still need to "Tip" the robot who actually serve the food. Must-try: - All the scallops - All the sweet shrimps - Aburi Salmon with Miso Cream Cheese - Yuzu Jalapeño Tuna - Garlic Ponzu Salmon - Warabimochi

Yelp
Fish is very fresh! I've been twice and the quality has actually improved over time. We definitely spent more money than we expected ($50-60 per person) but you will walk out of there very full. You grab any plate of sushi you want off the converter belt. Individual orders placed using their touch screen are also delivered on the conveyer belt. A robot will bring you your drinks. You can expect minimal human interactions - ideal for introverts!

Yelp
First time experiencing the revolving sushi bar and it was a wonderful, fun experiencing. I can't wait to go again!! Great concept you pay for each plate ($3.25) which can have anywhere from 1 piece to 4 pieces of sushi. Most plates had three The size of the pieces are on the smaller size but they had a great combination of flavors and dishes to choose from. They also offer a menu to order from which is also served on their own express revolving bar. The downside was the place was very cold. They don't remove the signs on dishes they are not serving so we waited and waited to try something to find out they didn't have it at all. They need to invest in better napkins offering a decent size napkin to place on your lap when you first sit down. Then the little ones to wipe your fingers or mouth would be fine. There is little space to wait at while waiting for your table

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place. With an original opening for Spring 2022, sushi lovers have been patiently waiting for this new location to finally open winter of 2023. The waiting system is really weird. I knew there would be a wait, and noticed the app say it would be ~30 minutes, which is the same amount of time it would take me to drive to center city and find parking. So I put my name in during the drive (at a red light!) and the wait time instantly shot up to 132 minutes. As soon as I arrived and "checked in" with the host, we only waited about 15 minutes more before we were sat. So basically, take any wait time with a grain of salt. Even with the wait times, I noticed the restaurant was only about 2/3rds full. Service was just as weird. The restaurant didn't seem busy as much of the ordering and delivering was via belt or robot, yet whenever I did need a server, my request was either forgotten or slow. Now about the food. Some menu items that you could order through the screen was not actually available, which was a big letdown since it was all my picky preschooler would eat (fries, calamari, yakisoba, etc). A lot of the sushi on the belt was also missing despite the signs being there. We sat for about 1-1.5 hours and never saw it replenished. I understand that some plates might be popular, but I figured at some point more food would make it over since the table turnover is slower than normal restaurants. I've also noticed some of the sushi was not the freshest. The good: Salmon toro, beef udon noodle, Hokkaido scallop The bad: squid, yellowtail, uni - all did not taste fresh. All in all, I still want to love this place, but I do not see my self coming back anytime soon.

Yelp
Kura's pretty much what you'd expect based on the pics and the hype. I was fortunate enough to get to attend the Grand Opening tonight 12/29/22! What is it? Double conveyor belt based pay-per-plate sushi/sashimi restaurant. Powered by robots! {robot emoji} How do you order? (1) Select from any dish passing by on the lower conveyor belt. $3.50 per plate. Two pieces of sushi/sashimi per plate -and/or- (2) Order with the digital menu (prices vary) and the selected dish arrives on the upper conveyor belt. You can pick the exact roll you prefer or there are other hot options like miso. Drinks are selected on the table digital menu/screen. The drinks are delivered by the floor robot. (Too cute as it speaks and plays a jingle when the drinks are delivered). What's good to know? (+) There's a dirty plate slot at the table that accepts your empty plates and tracks the total number of items consumed. (+) There's drink refills (free) delivered each time by the adorable robot. (+) You can get rewards if you sign up for an account with the Apple/Android app (+) Supposedly you can reserve tables with the app but that doesn't appear to be active yet. (+) Free T-shirt 12/29 for first 200 patrons, free sushi towel on 12/30 and 12/31 for the first 100 patrons. Overall the options are vast, the ingredients are natural. The wasabi is actually sourced from Japan. Extras: (++) For every 5 plates that you insert into the plate collector (whether by the random sushi conveyor or by the custom order screen) the screen will play a anime short film. This was too fun. I want to bring everyone. I passed this almost every day from work - pleased to say it lived up to the hype and was worth the wait.

Yelp
Overall: Here for the experience, not the food quality. All Kura sushi quality are similar (tried LA jtown, NJ, and now Philly) and I really just go for the revolving sushi experience. Obviously can't expect quality sushi. Good fix for sushi craving for this price if you don't wanna spend $70+ for sushi in center city Ordered: most of the sushi, "umami sushi" is just sesame oil over sushi (haha~), speciality sashimi is the same price as normal sashimi so would suggest eating special sashimi to get that taste. uni only comes in one piece, total to ~$30/person and was decently full. Service: cute robot for water delivery, server came by ~2-3 times to check up on us. Alcohol: still new, so only Kirin Light is Available. Wait time: ~1 hour at 1 pm on Sat, would suggest signing into kiosk first to join the waitlist and then roam around Philly shops for a bit.

Yelp
Food was solid. Service was special and felt like you were living in a sci fi movie where everything was automated. I wish the fish was more fresh but over all not bad for a sushi place with revolving dishes at Philly.

Yelp
4 stars because it's a novelty & the dishes they do well, they do REALLY well. The prior reviews are accurate- portions are small, avoid raw sushi, and be prepared to wait. I already knew that going in, I went anyway, and still came away with the fun enough experience that I'm planning to be back. Went MLK Day. I will mostly return because my kids loved it, it's super cute. They pulled the dishes off the belt, the robot drink server, it's totes adorbs. They're talking about it constantly, I know I'll return in a couple weeks! The good: The service. Miss Nikita the hostess & Miss Christina our server- divine. Taiyaki Ice cream - do it. This will bring me back with or without kids. Kids also enjoyed strawberry mochi ice cream. Crispy Squid & Gyoza- delicious, but very small & overpriced for the serving. I swear I was eating one tentacle cut in pieces. Nigiri: beef w/ Yakiniku sauce was good, but beef w/umami oil was outstanding & addictive. Roll- spicy popcorn shrimp. A piece of fried shrimp is sitting on top, so you know you had a bite! Milk creamy tart- my son loved it. The so-so: The Tamago & Inari - meh. Not special. Shrimp/sweet shrimp nigiri- they tasted the same and both tasted like nothing. It was m a bite of unseasoned cooked shrimp. The Bad: The wait - which I expected, but after seeing the manager on the news that morning, and she said to get the app to get on the waiting list, I did that. I download the app, I had to make an account, you have to input your phone number so they can send you a verification code. It was like trying to access your bank account, really ridiculous. After all of that effort, the waiting list feature was not active at the Philadelphia location at that time. I ended up waiting for hours, and the line was inside and outside. And they never had the waitlist option turned on. PLUS, we ended up taking a couple of trips to the bathroom while we waited, I couldn't believe all the empty seats and empty tables and empty booths I saw. some needed to be cleaned, some were ready to go. There's so much staff milling about and I don't know why because they're not providing a strenuous tableservice experience. Why are all of these people stacking plates & carrying things to & fro, but no one is getting the tables cleaned, and they're not seating the tables that are ready. That was really frustrating to witness. The first priority of every moment should be making sure tables are cleaned & seated. i'm waiting for hours at an automated restaurant and I see empty tables. The four of us spent $115 before tip, and had to go get something to eat afterwards. Nobody had enough food after 100+ dollars spent. Pretty lame. The ugly: Takoyaki- Disaster. Had to send it back. So completely mushy inside it was not cooked through. And i've never had an experience were octopus was super fishy. I had to send it back, and forgot to check if they took it off the bill. :/ Wagyu Nigiri- laughable. Super tough & dry, just why? I thought I was being punked. one of the cooked rolls, maybe shrimp with avocado. Or crunchy something. It doesn't matter. Bottom line, you take a bite and all you're eating is rice. Rice wrapped in seaweed. Totally ridiculous. Stick to nigiri, or a roll that has the promised protein sitting in your face so you know that it's there.

Yelp
I've experienced conveyor belt sushi before while overseas, but Kura Sushi was a way more fun time. Walked in as a party of 4 on a Tuesday afternoon. The host asked us to check in on their iPad at the entrance and as soon as we checked in, we were seated almost immediately. The gentleman that seated us came by to explain the "do's and don'ts" for the table and told us how ordering works. He performed the action of pulling the plate off the moving belt and asked each of us to practice with his handheld demo version. He asked what we wanted to drink and shortly after, a cute robot waiter brought our beverages to us. Overall, everything that came around on the belt was available to order on the touch screen above our table. White and red plates are $3.50 each and are inserted in the plate slot when finished. I liked the immense variety both on the belt and on the touch screen. I had about 7 plates (8 with dessert) before I tapped out. My favorite items were Kappa Maki roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Harajuku Summer Salad and the Creamy Milk Tart. Every 15 plates inserted in the slot gets you a prize. We totaled 35 plates and both of our prizes were Lego-like figurines in the shape of sushi. Absolutely adorable. I enjoyed Kura Sushi and would like to visit again. Maybe next time with a smaller party so we can all have a chance to pull plates off the belt.

Yelp
I have to give them credit. The first few times I went, I thought the quality of the fish was awful. They've stepped up their game. It's now on par with most decent strip mall sushi. That's what you pay for, that's what you get. But let's be real, I only go here because my kids love the rotating conveyor belt sushi, the robot waiter, and the prize capsules. If you love GREAT sushi and are willing to pay for it, there are many better options. This sushi is just OK, but the concept is cool.

Yelp
I've had conveyor belt sushi before and at first, the idea was fun until the feeling of novelty wore off. But, when I heard it came to Philly, I had to try it again. I wasn't expecting the BEST sushi at the BEST prices. I was expecting to pay a good amount for the fun of something different. The wait time on a Thursday night was long (download the app to join the waitlist so you don't have to do it in-person) but once we sat down, we had a fun experience. The plates of sushi revolve around and around while you ponder which ones you want to try before it escapes your reach. It's also possible to order the sushi directly from the menu and see it speed to your table. The wait times for ordering sushi wasn't long either, there were times we waited less than a minute! There were some plates that were well worth it like the yuzu jalapeno sweet shrimp or the Aburi Salmon with miso cream cheese but there were other plates that were exactly what you could obtain from any other sushi restaurant. Don't get me wrong though, the sushi is still quite good. Overall, is the price to quality of sushi disproportionate? I'd say so but it was still well worth it because we enjoyed the whole dining experience. Partaking in an unusual method of dining was exciting and new. Grabbing the sushi off the belt and just ordering off the menu while it played animations is something different from the traditional sushi experience and that's exactly what we came for.

Yelp
Really fun place since we don't have others like this in Philly but don't expect the best sushi of your life. I thought the sushi and hand rolls were delicious but nothing to write home about. The prices were reasonable. My biggest reason for giving 3 stars was the bathrooms and journey to the bathrooms wasn't very clean which concerned me. The service was friendly and I would say try it if you never have.

Yelp
(3.5/5) Previously went to a NJ Kura before. Enjoyed this location, but noticed the conveyor belt was a bit emptier than we would have liked and some of the sushi pieces were smaller than we were used to. Service was also a bit slow when it came to getting drink refills and stuff like that. Otherwise, it's a fun conveyor belt sushi experience that's finally in a nice driveable distance! It's expensive and easy to rack up a big bill, so this isn't a place I'd go to frequently.
