"Conveyor-belt sushi is rolling toward Watertown. Japan-based sushi chain Kura Sushi plans to open an outpost in the Arsenal Yards development sometime during the summer of 2021. The chain was founded in 1977 and has grown to include more than 450 locations across Japan, Taiwan, and the United States, and the Watertown location will be Kura’s first in New England. Diners at Kura place orders on touch screens and then pluck their selections from the conveyor belt as it inches by. Kura’s menus include countless sushi options, along with ramen, gyoza, crispy squid, shrimp tempura, fried chicken, and various other Japanese snacks." - Terrence Doyle

Google
We had an absolutely fantastic experience at this sushi spot! My colleague and I sat at the bar and had the pleasure of interacting directly with the chef, who was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. He recommended we try the Omakase set — and what a great decision that was! Each dish was prepared right in front of us with precision and care, and the chef took the time to explain every piece, from the type of fish to the preparation style. The variety and quality of the sushi were outstanding — everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. It was more than just dinner; it felt like a curated experience. We truly had a great time and will definitely be coming back soon. Highly recommend for anyone looking for top-notch sushi and an authentic, engaging dining experience! 🍣👏

Google
This was a fun and delicious experience. Eaters can select small dishes from a conveyor belt, choose specially made orders on a screen, and even have beverages served by whimsical robots. Friendly human staff were very helpful in explaining how everything worked. My favorite dishes were the simpler ones - the fresh sashimi on rice. Sauces tended toward the salty side, but seafood and beef slices were full of flavor on their own. Very generous pours of sake and green tea. Great staff! This was my second trip here, and I look forward to returning next time I'm in Boston

Google
My first time trying conveyor belt sushi, and boy, it was fun! Each plate was $3.95, and my partner and I ended up at 15 plates total because we were pretty full, so I would say the price is pretty reasonable. Appreciated the fact that everything was automated (a robot brought us water, we could just pay the check scanning a QR code and leave at our convenience, etc). Overall, a fun and interesting experience!

Google
This place has only gotten better! Two years ago (2023) we came here, and it was a fun novelty but only that; the taste wasn't enough to keep us coming back, and the price was enough to drive you away. Now I enjoy coming hear to splurge every once in a while. It's tasty and fun! Especially for a fun night with friends and family or for a date.

Google
It’s definitely a fun first experience to see. The food portions and prices can get quite pricy fast. But for the dishes we chose, we found them to be fresh, nicely made and great flavours! My first time trying the new soy paper wrap and I loved it! So much easier and tastier hand rolls with it. You can’t miss trying the crunchy salmon hand rolls!! Great flavour and nicely arranged. Not sure I’d make a habit of coming here for all my sushi fixes, but definitely worth trying at least a couple times. I’m a big eater when it comes to sushi and this wasn’t enough for me. Ice cream with red bean paste was also very nice! Fried red bean fish though was too oily and greasy. Together it was perfect though.

Google
One of the more unique and fun restaurant chains to start popping up throughout the US. I was overjoyed to learn they had open d in Watertown after a great experience in their Atlanta location!

Google
I did not have high expectations. The first item was ok but the quality overall was pretty off (we tried a wide range). The sushi was literally butchered and cut razor thin. Again, this likely goes with the business model though a minimum level of detail would be good. After a couple of items, I really got the impression that I should not continue to have more. I didn't mind the robots or the conveyor (kids enjoyed it) though some plates that didn't fit into the dish slot were piling up quickly and the eating experience got very quickly messy. The kids also commented on the quality which is never a good sign.

Google
Loved the place, and came back twice & definitely plan to come again. A little expensive, but if you are efficient with what you take, since all plates on the belt cost the same, you won't need to pay as much, great opportunity to try out new foods too, and there is a super cute robot that serves drinks and an upper belt that brings ordered deserts straight to you.

Yelp
Pretty solid sushi conveyer belt experience. I think we were sat at a less than ideal spot so a lot of times there would be no sushi on the belt by the time it got to us. However, we were able to order directly off the menu and our item would zoom to us. It's around 3.80 a plate, all the sushi is pretty decent. My favorite was the blue fin tuna but it was extra pricy, giving only 1 piece for 3.80. There isn't much human service, pretty much everything is done through a digital menu and a robot server which is super fun to see!

Dickson L.

Yelp
Really neat sushi concept utilizing the conveyer-like style approach as the main wow-factor experience. It's honestly a lot of fun and the price is fair depending on the sushi you get. We came as a party of 2 on a Friday evening and had to wait about an hour. We took a quick stroll through some of the shops to kill time and they send a text message letting you know you're next soon. When we were seated you basically start picking out what you want and start eating - which is a neat experience from the usual "what would you like to order" then waiting for the food to actually arrive. Each small dish on the belt is $3.50, some dishes come in 4 pieces, some come just 1 piece, ranging from typical makimonos you could find in your supermarket to special seasonal dishes that are available for a limited time. They also gamify the experience so that you get a small prize (a gatcha toy for those who know) if you hit 15 dishes. It's smart because we definitely tried to play the game and we were pretty full 15 dishes in between two of us. The quality of fish itself was surprisingly good. I thought it'd be like buffet-quality fish, but the tuna was exceptionally fresh, the texture and color was on point, the salmon had wonderful marbling, and wasabi was not the cheapo kind of thing you get from squeezing a paste tube. tldr; neato sushi experience that tastes as good as it looks

Yelp
If you're looking for a new style of dining, def check out Kura. They have a conveyor belt system that allows you to pick your own food as it comes by. The concept was really cool but unfortunately the conveyor belt had a ton of empty plates even though the restaurant wasn't super full. The food was good although their vegetarian sushi options are few.

Susan D.

Yelp
Not my first time visiting a revolving sushi bar but my first time at this location/chain. The host gave me a quick lesson on how to pull the dishes off the conveyer and the self-service drink menu was self-explanatory. A few minutes later, I heard some beeping and a robot server had appeared with my soda. I tried a few dishes- everything was average to good- nothing I disliked but nothing stood out as amazing. Many choices. Several items were never refilled- not sure if they were out of them or they were just really popular. I could see the kitchen staff making the food. I was able to easily check out myself using the display screen. I was impressed with their technology. It would be an introvert's dream- dining out with no need to interact with anyone. It was fun to try something new although I prefer interactions where I can ask questions about the food and menu. Great parking options- free parking in the garage.

Yelp
Last summer, I tried this kaiten sushi place in Watertown. We tried the seared scallop with Japanese mayo, umami oil seared beef, seared eel with miso cream cheese, tuna yukhoe, garlic skipjack tuna, inari, tuna, conch, uni, and hokkaido milk tart, They also have robots bringing the drinks to your table. Cute! The disappointment was the uni which was not very fresh. Once you are done with your plate, you put it into the plate dispenser. After every 15 plates, you get a prize from the bikkura pon machine on top of the sushi belt. Cool! Plates averaged $3.75 and higher. It's definitely not as cheap as their counterparts in Japan. It might not have the best quality sushi but it's a fun restaurant to pick sushi off the belt and win prizes with friends and family.

Justin S.

Yelp
For Sunday lunch a friend and I went to Kura to satisfy our sushi cravings. At 1pm we received immediate seating to a half-full establishment, a far cry from our last attempt on Saturday night only to be quoted a 3 hour wait. Prices at $3.75/plate, one could reasonably eat 10-15 plates, running a tab between $37.5 and $56.25. In my opinion, that is too much for ok sushi. It's marginally better than the random sushi joint down the block, but only marginally so.

Yelp
I took my 6 year old trying to figure out a place that would be fun and kid friendly. After reading about 1-2 hr waits I decided to come a little early around 5 pm on a Saturday and was seated quickly. The staff was friendly but once we were seated and explained how it works, we didn't see them until check out. We were shown how to grab the plates and that only the blue and white plates could go in the little plate counter. At the time of the visit each plate was $3.75 and for sushi. it varied from 1-3 pieces on the plate. There are other items such as soup and tempura that had different prices and could be ordered through the screen. We enjoyed getting our drinks from the little robot. Any item that we didn't see on the belt we decided to get through the screen which came out quickly. It feels a little chaotic at first but once you get the hang of how to order and grab, it's really fun. For every five plates they play a short animation and at 15 a little prize rolls out(small screen wipes, keychains). I wasn't expecting much for food but was pleasantly surprised they had toro belly and salmon belly- both were good. Sometimes the rice didn't stick as well to some pieces but it was tasty. I noticed there wasn't any sashimi so it was really easy to fill up(I also had to eat my kid's food, so perhaps that is why)! Overall, not bad and pretty kid friendly.

Yelp
First time at Kura w a party of four - TASTE: 4/5 - the sushi plates were overall good; favorites included the garlic ponzu salmon, eel, and warabimochi TEXTURE: 4/5 - enjoyed the crunch of the salmon golden crunchy roll and red dragon roll, plus the hand rolls PRICE: 3/5 - $3.75/plate adds up very quickly. Our party of four's 34 plates came to a $128 subtotal SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - most nigiri and gunkan plates are two pieces, and rolls are three pieces. We intentionally left satisfied, not stuffed, given the price of the plates SERVICE: 4/5 - walked in 11am on a Sunday, shortly after opening since we knew the line can get long, and the space was fairly empty. Our drinks were served from the robot waiters; otherwise everything was self-service via grabbing plates from the conveyor belt, or ordering specific plates on the screen and having them delivered via conveyor belt a few minutes later ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - seating options include tables, for groups of 4-6 people, or the counter/bar. Additional collab decor included Spy x Family banners and plate prizes. Enjoyed the experience of trying a revolving sushi bar for the first time PARKING: 5/5 - plenty of parking at Arsenal Yards

Yelp
We have been here at least 20 times. The food is solid, the robots are very kid friendly, and the service is spectacular. Nicko, Ami, JJ, Unique, and all of the other staff members are so friendly and great to us. I love that they had a few special seasonal items this December around crab. Tasty. It's always packed, so pro tip: download the app and check in online before you arrive. Huge selection that you can pull off the conveyer or order off the tablet. We will be back many times more.

Dana S.

Yelp
This is an update to my original review, which I thought was great. We went here on a weeknight. No wait. Not full. No food. The plates went around and around and most of them were empty. And there weren't a lot of people before our table that were taking food, it just wasn't being put out. To add to it? The woman who sat us asked us do you have you been here before? When we responded yes, we never saw another soul until we decided to check out. Nobody asked how things were doing, we had nobody come to our table at all. Which it has not been like that in the past two times we've been. For some reason this time around, whatever service that we should get was clearly lacking. I'm kind of bummed.

Rosa C.

Yelp
We are regulars of Kura after hitting the first one on a roadtrip. Today's experience was not much different than the past. Our servers were friendly upon entry into the restaurant. We got seated quickly and using the screen we ordered our drinks. They also came quickly. We came right at opening and sometimes it takes a while for all of the selections to be filled. We had sushi, rolls, dumplings, and mochi ice cream. Selections included the crunchy rolls - salmon, golden and regular. These are one our favorites and this restaurant does them quite well. You get about 4 pieces of these for 3.90. The crunchy roll with the tempura shrimp was only 3 pieces. We had trouble with the seared beef with yakiniku sauce. They are one of our favorites but it was never available on the belt. We had to order that from the screen. When we did they came somewhat promptly and were fresh. In addition the weekly specials were pretty sparse. I was able to have the umami oil hokkai octopus gunkan, which was quite lucky because I'm not sure others behind me did as it wasn't available in the belt. I've never had it and it was quite good. I like they have different things every week although it would be nice to be able to have all the selections we were looking for. As for the side dishes, the dumplings are great and the mochi is a great way to finish off. This is a nice place to get the experience of conveyor sushi and the ability to taste a lot of different things. However most of the selections are basic sushi and not all always available. One side note... I really wish they would have a scanner at the screen so that you can check out using the app instead of having to wait for a server. That should be more seamless.

Adina S.

Yelp
I came back to Kura after about a year. Even though it's one of those things you really only need to try once, I still had fun my second time around. It's a neat experience with the conveyor belt and the robots, and there are staff members that also come around as needed. The restaurant has a modern vibe and is pretty clean overall. We started off with some sake, which I really enjoyed. All the sushi I tried was pretty solid. Pay attention to what you're grabbing off the conveyor belt because some plates have more pieces than others. A bunch of the rolls also have tempura flakes and sauces, which add a bit more flavor. We finished off with some mochi, which really hit the spot. I especially enjoyed the green tea flavor. I would recommend this place for a fun experience!

Allison L.

Yelp
Come here for the experience, definitely not the food LOL. My friend and I stopped in for a quick snack and waited ~20 mins even though it was already 9PM. Much better than the usual 1-2 hour wait. Once we got seated, we were told that we can either order off the ipads in front of us, or pick up pieces we felt looked good from the revolving sushi conveyor belt. Maybe it's because we were there so late, but the conveyor belt didn't have a lot of options available. A lot of empty plates and advertisements for pieces that never showed up on actual plates. The pieces that my friend ordered via the ipad did show up and were okay. The sushi pieces felt like they've been sitting out for a bit and weren't that fresh. The staff is kind and friendly though, and always checked in on us and made sure we were doing okay. Maybe the move IS to come earlier, but then you risk being stuck in a 1-2 hour wait...

Masmin P.

Yelp
The revolving sushi concept has been around for a while but the novelty of this place never ceases to fascinate me! The talking robot drinks server, tableside ordering pad, special hot food delivery conveyer, electronic plate counter, and gift slide are all so fun! You can be in and out in under 30 minutes since the food just comes to you. We arrived a few minutes before the restaurant opened for lunch on New Year's Day so getting a table was no hassle at all. But in the past I remember that getting a spot can take a while if you queue up via the app. Food is fresh and good- wide variety of sushi including a few with beef and scallop, and outside of the conveyer belt you can also get udon, ramen and hot apps via the ordering system. Fun for kids (although they may try to eat their weight in sushi as you can get a little gift with every 15 plates from the belt!)

Yelp
I have fond memories of going to the Kura sushi in Little Tokyo in LA ~6-7 years ago. My taste in sushi has become a bit more discerning since those days, so it's hard to tell whether it's a difference in my palate or the store location. The Kura in Watertown doesn't quite live up to my memories, but there are still a few dishes that are worth getting. The great - Sweet shrimp - tender, sweet, delicious - Torched scallop - smoky and tender - Umami oil salmon - IMO the best sauce they have The good - Sweet shrimp with sauces - can't mess with perfection - Negitoro - pretty standard - Shrimp tempura udon - unremarkable, but the shrimp is good! - Torched salmon - umami oil is still better The meh - Fried chicken/squid - underseasoned - Crab meat roll The bad - The rice - does not spark joy - The soy sauce bottle - very hard to pour soy sauce out of it - Shoyu ramen - broth just tastes like soy sauce. Noodles are bad as well. There are robot waiters that bring you drinks (sometimes sloshing them around in the process), and the touch screen menu is easy to use (though sometimes the prize system doesn't work). Overall if you want variety, this is a good option. Otherwise, for good sushi, I would go to Tora or Laughing Monk.

Yelp
Service was great! Great food! Amazing location! Arsenal Yards is beautiful. We will eat here again!

Yelp
This was our 2nd time coming here and this review is for a weekend night dinner experience: 3.5 overall, food was good, no complaints but the wait was crazy! We joined the waitlist online before leaving the house. Joined at 6:20pm and weren't seated until almost 9pm. I don't think we'll come on a weekend ever again, especially not with a kid. Come during the week!

Melanie R.

Yelp
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is an absolute gem, and if I could give it more than 5 stars, I totally would! This place is a sushi lover's dream come true. The revolving sushi concept is not only fun but also ensures you get a wide variety of fresh, high-quality sushi right at your fingertips. The plates are color-coded by price, making it easy to keep track of your tab while you indulge in an endless sushi adventure. The selection is impressive, ranging from traditional favorites to unique and creative rolls. Every plate that passed by was a tempting work of art, and I couldn't resist trying a bit of everything. The quality of the fish is excellent, and the flavors are spot-on. The staff at Kura are friendly, attentive, and always ready with a recommendation. The service is efficient, and the sushi comes around frequently enough to keep your taste buds excited. The atmosphere is lively, and the modern decor adds to the overall dining experience. What I love most is the affordability - you get top-notch sushi without breaking the bank. Kura has definitely become my go-to spot for a sushi fix. If you're a sushi enthusiast or just looking for a unique dining experience, Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is a must-visit. Five stars all the way!

Anosha K.

Yelp
I waited about 45 minutes for a table for 2 on a Friday evening, and in hindsight I should've gone somewhere else. We only stayed at the restaurant about 20 minutes before leaving unsatisfied. The conveyor belt sushi and the hot food were both cafeteria quality at best. Some conveyor belt dishes were just plain BAD and we didn't pay for them (thankfully the server saw we didn't eat the plate and took it off our tab at the end). Each plate costs $3.75, which is extremely overpriced for 2-3 pieces of subpar sushi. The server never came back around to our table after seating us, so our dirty dishes piled up and we couldn't redeem any of the drink refills. We immediately regretted dining here and will not be coming back. We had to go get a proper "second" dinner afterwards.

Della S.

Yelp
I've eaten at various Kura locations across the country and would say that the quality here is about the same as the other spots. The sushi is relatively cheap (right now plates are $3.60 each) and some are done better than others-- when I visited, the scallops were the freshest. The $3.60/plate doesn't seem too bad at first but the sushi pieces aren't super big so it's quite easy to spend $30 or more per person. At the end of the day, I'd still come here if I was in the mood for a revolving sushi experience! If I wanted quality sushi at this price though, I'd go somewhere else. They don't seem to let you join a waitlist online but once you arrive there is a tablet in the front that allows you to join a waitlist. We came as a group of 4 on a weekend around 12:30pm and were seated pretty much immediately. After getting seated the staff left us alone for the entire meal except to refill our soy sauce bottle once (we didn't even flag anybody down so I was impressed that they paid attention). Like others have mentioned, you order drinks through a tablet at the table and a robot brings your drinks to you-- the robot plays a very loud tune once it arrives at your table which got a little annoying after a while. Even when it is time to pay, you can pay through a QR code at the table and do not need to interact with any staff. It was fun to grab plates off of the revolving belt but we ended up ordering off of the tablet most of the time because the sushi was freshly prepared that way. The tablet also had a more extensive menu, including handrolls which were a good deal for their price at $3.60! We ran into an issue where the tablet gave us the option to order sockeye salmon (different from their regular salmon) so we tried to order it but our order kept on getting cancelled by the chefs in the back. They were probably out of it, but we didn't realize this because the tablet still displayed it as an item that was available. Hopefully they'll fix this problem and make it easier for the sushi chefs to update the menu based on what is available. Coming here as a larger group is fun because you can play the bikkura pon activity at the table which gives you a prize every 15 plates!

Michelle M.

Yelp
Such a fun place to have opened in watertown! The food on the belt is always good and if you keep missing out on your fave roll, you always have the option to order from their touch screen menu! The servers are always very friendly and do a great job at keeping the tables clean for the next party! Their all-star player is definitely the drinks robot! Who doesn't want their drinks delivered by a robot? Always looking forward to the next time we visit! Pro tip: download the Kura App and get yourself on the waitlist BEFORE you arrive at the restaurant ;)

Tarley Y.

Yelp
Definitely recommend Kura! As far as sushi goes they have a great variety of delicious sushi. Great variety of cooked food too for those friends that still don't eat raw fish. Very cool, fun and family atmosphere with GREAT servers. Kudos to Nicko, definitely stands out for always being in a a wonderful mood and going out of his way to make the visit to the restaurant as pleasant as possible. He is very competent and great at managing the restaurant. I can come here 3 times or more a week and never get tired!

Troy E.

Yelp
Always in all ways. Quick, convenient, and delicious. Got a craving? Kura! 15-17 plates is typical for my crew of 2. We both leave overly full and OVERLY satisfied bc we cannot help ourselves lol. Can't go wrong with Kura!

Yelp
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is a sushi conveyor belt chain located in Arsenal Yards, Watertown, MA. It's Boston's only conveyer belt sushi restaurant at the moment. I have seen many conveyor belt sushi locations go down and under in the past decade (Chinatown, Boston seaport, and also Natick Mall). Although Kura is not the first of its kind, it has proven promising enough to outlast its predecessors. I hope its here to stay for a long time. I have been to Kura at least five times now. Attempting to go during grand opening back in March of last year was probably a grand mistake. During the first few weeks of opening, the wait times were literally 999 minutes. After the initial hype died down, and with the help of my trusty Kura Sushi App, I was able to reserve a table successfully without having to wait 1.5 hours as I did during my first visit. I highly recommend downloading the Kura Sushi app. You can check in and view live wait times. Also, you can earn points leading to coupons (usually $5 increments) toward your next meal. These coupons however expire within 30 days. Each plate of sushi is about $3.60. Drinks are about $3.90 each if I remember correctly. Drinks are very expensive but refillable. You get freshly grated wasabi and soy sauce and ginger at the table. During the last visit, they had ponzu sauce instead of soy sauce so I had to ask the waiter to switch it out. I am always amazed by the quality and freshness of the sushi for the price. Fifteen plates of sushi equal one toy. For my family of four, two adults and two children, we usually order about 30+ plates for two toys. The check is typically a little over $130 each time before tax and tip. Sometimes, there are free t-shirts promotions. Therefore, more reason to download the app and to sign up for email notifications. The monthly emails notify you of specials for the month and the theme of the toys (mostly Japanese manga characters). Toys range form keychains to stickers to tatoo. Small trinkets that will fit into the little red or yellow balls. I wished they have a recycling option for the plastic balls. My favorites sushis are the salmon toro, seared salmon with cream cheese, eel with cream cheese, umami oil salmon, Hokkaido scallop, seared scallop with Japanese mayo, Spanish mackerel, squid, and the sea conch (crunchy). I am not a fan of the sweet shrimp sushi or premium beef sushi. I am not a fan of tuna either. I prefer yellowtail. The salmon, eel, and scallop sushis are probably my favorite go to. My two favorite gunkan sushi would have to be the real crab meat and the ikura ones. Ikura norimaki is my favorite rolled sushi followed by the rainbow maki. The takoyaki is also delicious and popular among my kids. Of the cooked entrees, the best would be the beef udon. The ramen lacked flavor, and the beef ojyu is overall small portion. These dishes make for great fillers. You can order these items through the touch screen menu and they arrive in the upper belt. Drinks are delivered via a cute robot. Favorite dessert so far has to be the limited special for this month, vanilla ice cream with crispy fried mochi. I hope they make it a permanent item. The taiyaki ice cream is something I would try at least once as well as the wasabimochi. The milky creamy tart is my brother's favorite dessert. It's more sweet than custardy. Overall, service is stellar each of the five times I have visited in the past year. I recommend ordering from the menu instead of waiting for the sushi to arrive on the belt if you sit in the middle of the restaurant or toward the end of the conveyor belt. Many of the limited quantity items would be gone before it reaches your table. Which also means a lot of time looking at empty belts with no food. See my pictures.

Yelp
I was in the area and decided to give it a try. I will preface we got there at 8pm (no wait) and they closed at 9. The waitress was very nice and explained how the concept worked. As we watched the conveyor belt roll, we noticed everything was empty. The few plates I did see looked a little questionable. It just didn't look like the fresh sashimi and sushi I am used to seeing. Also all of the prepped in advance items like cheesecake or watermelon looked really old. Even though the belt was empty, we thankfully could order from the screen directly. We opted to try a few side dishes since the sushi on the belt looked questionable. The tan tan ramen was really small and had a weird taste. Definitely not tan tan. The garlic fried rice was very dry. The sushi plates we did get were lackluster in appearance and taste. The fries were the best part of the meal. Not that glad I finally tried it but at least I know I wouldn't come back. I'd rather go to a regular sushi restaurant and get fresher, well made bites.

Diego R.

Yelp
I came in with my family the other day, the food here was amazing I would definitely come back another day. My kids enjoyed the tamago they were super exited they also loved the fries. I order crispy squid I was little bit skeptical at first but I enjoyed it. I was taken care of by Mike 10/10 would recommend to ask for him when you come in.

Daphne C.

Yelp
Great food my favorite spot! I can't ever get enough of the garlic ponzu salmon and the crispy rice. The robot server is so cute I'm always recommending KURA anytime anywhere. Don't forget to order the taiyaki ice cream 10/10.

Yelp
Super clean, the staff is great, and the food is delicious! We've gone here a lot over the past few months and taken a few friends. There's something for everyone even though it's a sushi bar. My fiancé is not the biggest fan of sushi but will have their garlic ponzu salmon and loves their soup + fries. I'll eat basically anything that comes around but definitely try the garlic ponzu salmon!

Yelp
such a fun experience!! this was our first time here and the food was soooo good! the dishes come on a conveyor belt and you can just take what you want from it. a robot also delivered our waters :,) my favorite dishes were the aburi eel with miso cream cheese sushi, golden crunch roll, tiger roll, spicy crunch taco, and the sockeye salmon sushi--but i enjoyed everything i tried. my friend and i had 18 plates together and the price was not bad! there was a long wait time (60-85 minutes), but it was worth the wait. since it's in arsenal yard, we signed in and shopped around to pass time. this was a 10/10 experience and i highly recommend you go here. i'll def go back!

Yelp
Very yummy sushi. Kura sushi is my fave. Negitoro maki also slapped. Robot carrying drinks is cute, it sings to you. Nice service. The keychain prizes also rock. 10/10 would recommend

Yelp
Food is fresh and tasty A multi-sensory multi-media Japanese American conveyor belt food delivery experience Friendly staff there to guide and assist. Robot drink servers! Noisy The menu shrinks as they run out of the more popular doshed Cold air rushing in every time someone opened the front door.

Yelp
This place is great. They have a lot of automation for getting stuff to you, including conveyer belts, robots and automated ordering. The food was fresh and they use what looks to be real wasabi. I think the only thing that I wouldn't get again is the sea urchin, but everything else was great, and we got 16 plates. There's also a neat gimmick that you get a random prize at 15 plates, so we got a lanyard in a ball. The waitlist was a little annoying to clear, but we found out that we could have gotten on it early with the app, which we will do next time. Parking in the small lot across the street was also difficult, I'd recommend the garage. Other than that, definitely unique for the area. I haven't seen a lot of places with dishes like salmon skin sushi, but would recommend if you get a chance to visit.

Yelp
It was only my second time there, but is already one of my favorites. We had all different kinds of food this time I didn't really see the same food as the first time in the middle of the Summer, maybe Seasonal menu, Which is always good for me that way I know what I like and don't care for. We started with popcorn shrimp sushi with a very tasty unique flavor I can't even describe it and I'm usually pretty good with getting the flavor down. We tried sweet shrimp and it was good, but not as tasty as the crab dishes. I went right to my happy place with the fresh crab sushi's. Our waitress was Mariz and Yeilanise, both were great and we didn't want for anything. Free drink refills always a plus especially if they are good, which the lemonade is just the right amount of tangy and sweet. We tried the fresh crab meat stuffed sushi with seaweed wrapped around it. Very delicious, but we were trying more different kinds of sushi I didn't see on the menu last time. We shared 15 little plates of beef, shrimp and crab sushi, we had to save space for one the best desserts ever! It was a bowl of ice cream maybe vanilla ( not sure) with a big fish shaped pastry tucked into the side of the bowl. I wasn't ready for this surprise, it had red beans and sauce cooked inside the fish and as we broke off a piece to dip into the ice cream the sauce drizzled out. Oh my what a delicious treat. It was enough to split, because after all we just split 15 Tapas sized plates so a good ending to our lunch experience. It's very convenient to get to with loads of parking in the South Bay across from Olive Garden. We'll be back ASAP.

Yelp
The food here is amazing! And to top it off, so is the service especially Nico who we have known for quite some time now (that's how many times we come here ). A lot of people come to eat here during dinner time which the waitlist can be pretty long but during lunch hours it's pretty calm. We will never stop coming here. Thanks Kura and staff!

Yelp
Words can express how fun this place is! If you like sushi and you want to either pick sushi from a conveyor belt or order sushi that will be made to order then this place is for you! Check it out for yourself you won't be disappointed! Also I don't want to spoil a good surprise but once you have eaten a certain amount of plates of sushi you get a prize! Winning!

Yelp
This is a great spot for kids and families. Revolving sushi makes it fun and interactive with helpful staff and a cartoonishly fun ambiance (robot waiters). This place will certainly satisfy your sushi craving but it isn't high end sushi by any stretch. Also pro tip: be careful for what plates you put down the discard bin, as the more plates you insert the more your bill will total.

Yelp
I'm so torn with this review. It's a really fun experience but the price point for quality of the food, long waits, and hectic in-person service when someone goes wrong can't be discounted. Atmosphere/Ambience is pretty standard compared to other Kuras and revolving sushi restaurants. I would have loved a more open winding counter top or large circle like some of the restaurants in Japan, but the booth layout here works and is fine. It was likely better for our family with young kids to help contain things. The small toys and display games was a hit with our kids and the "never know what you're gonna get" phenomenon. Service here is challenging. The automated/automatic conveyor and touchscreen ordering is works fairly well but it's up high and lends itself to easy misordering if you're not careful. That's not on Kura, necessarily, but newbies should be aware you might occasionally misorder/misselect something and there's a window of time to cancel before they proceed. It's a busy and fast-pace place, and this is reasonable business practices for this type of restaurant. But patron be ware! Robots will often deliver drinks and huge hit with most patrons. When there's a malfunction of anything or something not arriving or a spill, it can take a while for waiters and staff to come by and help. Seems hectic and they're very busy. Summary: automatic ordering/robots good, human assistance can be needed and challenging. The wait has to be talked about, too. They have an app and tends to still be long waits. Recommend going during an off time or will a smaller party to come off the list quicker. Good for them for having such a desired experience. Food was fair. A lot of the sushi was presented nicely and often in decent size/portion, but the quality was average. The ramen dish was pretty small, and a lot of the non-sushi tempura and other fried dishes were bland, greasy, and we didn't finish them (e.g., Ten Jyu). It wasn't hard to get what you wanted to eat and there are tons of option which is very nice. Vegans and vegetarians can eat here. Price was very expensive for what we got. It's always a challenge to contain price when using conveyor belts and is a good business model for sure, but some of the prices (mid $10 for small ramen bowl) for the quality aren't justified. I'd recommend sticking to just sushi here. We will be back? Probably because of the fun/experience, but I think it's worth adjusting your expectations for the quality of the food and potential hecticness/wait that is involved.

Yelp
The waiter was nice, he greeted us and explained everything clearly. The robot was cute, they brought us drink and it sang. Some of the food is fresh, some of them isn't. The crispy salmon was very hard, like the crispy rice wasn't that fresh that's why the rice was soooo hard. I enjoy their uni and torched salmon. There are many different things to order. There are various kinds of hand rolls to choose (seaweed wrap or soy paper wrap!) Not many food were on the belt so we ordered most of the things. There's plastic wrap in between my warabimochi.... They let us pick if we want another plate or have this plate for free. We were too full so we just choose to waive this one.

Yelp
The fish are fresh! Service is streamlined and automated! Custom orders also come pretty fast. I enjoyed it very much. One star off for some improvements to be perfect: 1. Rice of nigiri are made by machine, it's done rather loose that it keeps breaking off. 2. Would love to see more fish varieties. Only saw salmon, tuna, yellowtail to what I remember. Lastly, I love the salmon skin custom (hot) order!

Yelp
Food was excellent, quick service and a fun ambiance. This is definitely an experience.

Yelp
Great price and good sushi! Such a fun experience everytime I come here! Always worth the wait and a super cool take on sushi!

Yelp
A lot of fun, great sushi and non sushi options. Friendly service and fun to be served drinks by a robot.

Yelp
Come to Kura for dreams delivered... via conveyer belt! The first time we tried to eat here, we came on a Friday around 7pm, and the wait to be seated was 3 hours (!!) with tons of people hanging around outside. Good to know - we headed somewhere else that night and made a note to come back. Second time's the charm. We arrived at 11am when they open on a Thursday, and there was no wait at all! We were seated at a comfortable booth, and a staff member explained how the place works and how to grab a plate from the belt. That was the last time we really interacted with a person while we were there since everything else can be done digitally! We started by ordering our drinks on the tablet at our table, and about 5 minutes later, a robot playing music came to deliver them. The robot "spoke" to us, we grabbed the drinks (which come with free refills), and it went on its merry way. There's SO MUCH on the belt, and I liked that it was very orderly with clear signage to know what everything is. You can also look up each roll on the tablet if you want to read exactly what's in it. We got a great variety of sushi including seared scallops, eel, salmon, toro, crispy shrimp, and rolls. There are some really nice flavor additions that you don't see at standard sushi spots, like yuzu and sesame oil. Everything tasted super fresh and delish. You can also order other food on the tablet which will be "expressed" to your table via the upper conveyer belt. We got the crispy rice topped with spicy salmon this way, which was a warm, spicy, satisfying dish. Also on the belt are non-sushi items like edamame, fruit, and mochi. We loved the custard tart! And you can't end your meal without ordering the taiyaki. This is freshly fried red bean-filled taiyaki with vanilla ice cream and more red bean on the side. Truly divine! As you eat, you feed the slot at your table your plates, and every so often, parts of a story appear on the tablet. If your table finishes 15 plates, a prize rolls down to you! So cute and fun! We got a Demon Slayer keychain. I don't watch anime, but it's a fun souvenir and was well-earned. At $3.75/plate (and higher pricing for speciality items like the taiyaki), the bill adds up quickly, so this isn't the cheapest sushi option. But the funnest? Hard yes.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday afternoon/early evening and while the wait was relatively short, I'll say it was a poor experience. We put our names on the waitlist through their Kura app and it said that the estimated time to get seated was 20 minutes. Plenty of time to get there. Not 5 minutes later, we were texted that we were about to be seated and we needed to be there then. It didn't make much sense to us as to why the app was so off with their estimate and when we got there, they said we should've called them to hold our spot. Understandably that makes sense, but we just assumed the wait was nonexistent if we were supposed to get seated within 5 minutes of putting our names in the app. We were wrong. After being told to wait and reenter the line, we then waited 20 more minutes to get seated. Funny how the app was correct with their prediction then! The server who explained the sushi bar to us was relatively friendly and kind. She told us how the tablet worked, how to retrieve the food from the revolving plates, and how we could determine how many plates we had eaten. It was pretty self-explanatory after that and easy to find what we wanted. The food quality and diversity in dishes were pretty decent, but the price was pretty ridiculous I think. By the end of the meal, we had spent the same price as an AYCE buffet, but not nearly as satisfied. I will say that you're essentially paying for the experience of being at a revolving sushi bar and being served drinks by robots ( which take 10 minutes to get you a cup of water, by the way ) so the price to me makes sense, but it's definitely just a once-in-a-while visit angle. How much we paid doesn't justify the meal, in my opinion. Overall, I don't think I'm coming back anytime soon, but I am glad I got to try it!

Yelp
Good product and groovy concept. I recommend. Specially good with adolescents. The drink robots are cute!

Yelp
I thought the experience was okay and wasn't really worth the wait. The sushi was okay and I was so hungry from waiting, I just pulled plates without looking at they were. Appreciated the watermelons though! Also ordered the takoyaki from the screen and it was more batter than tako. I believe for every 15 plates ($3.45 ea), you get a nice little toy, which I'm sure you can buy for much less. In addition, they have really cool looking anime collaboration shirts, but very very limited release ON TOP of the long wait times. If I understood correctly, I read that you have to spend $100+ in order to rack up enough points for it. Also they WILLY WONKA LIMITED SUPPLIES FOR THEIR COLLAB SHIRTS, BAGS & PHONE STANDS. So avoid trapping yourself with coming just for that. Overall, if you have never been to a revolving sushi table, come try Kura at least once. Otherwise, there's plenty of restaurants that do all you can eat for less. My crew of 3 told me that I ate approximately 20 plates alone.

Yelp
Such a fun sushi experience! It was pretty packed, but they need to fix the time estimate in their app because the waitlist goes by much quicker than expected (wait time was about 15 mins not 45). Food: Pleasantly surprised with the quality. They have a large selection of rolls, nigiris, and small bites. Their Umami Oil Salmon, Inari, and Hokkaido Milk Creamy Tart were really delicious. Everything else was okay, but not great. Overall, a fun place to try a variety of sushi, but the bill does build up quickly if you're a big eater (about $3 per plate). Definitely a solid place to experience at least once.

Caroline S.

Yelp
Definitely must try at least once! The food was super fresh and delicious. I honestly don't think there's a wrong option, so try everything!! We loved the seared scallops, tamago, squid, warabimochi, and fried doughnut w/ icecream. Service was pretty autonomous. There are robots that deliver your drinks and the ordering process is completely automated. It was fun to watch the orders zoom in on the conveyor belt. The 15 plate capsule reward is also a cute bonus. One thing to note: the wait line fluctuates a lot so try to plan your arrival when you're around 10-15th in line. Arsenal Yards is a great place to walk around and pass some time. Overall, a great and fun experience. Just a bit pricey if you have a large appetite.

Yelp
My family had "conveyor belt sushi" in Seattle and then looked for it closer to home and found Kura in Watertown. We were initially charmed and came several times in rapid succession, then took a break, and then returned about five more times over the past N months. Over ghat times, we noted both good and bad aspects: - the beverage robot is adorable. Tea refills are excellent. - the sesame balls? EPIC. Best ever. Sizzling hot and fresh, practically melt in our mouths. - the mochi? Delicious. Always taste fresh, nicely presented. - the rolls? are good quality, good taste, and that's about what there is to say. Same for the salads and hand rolls. Nothing amazing... but pretty solid - nigiri? Ahhh... here's where it starts to break down a bit. the freshness has been pretty good, overall. The portion size, though, is pretty small for the price, and varies pretty widely between "pretty small" and "I guess I just had some fish...?" - sashimi? Even smaller than the nigiri. It made me wonder how much fish is actually in the rolls compared to the rolls at our favorite non-belt sushi, and the answer is: not much. I think these last two factors have kept us from returning more often. The prices seemed amazing at the start, but eventually we realized that we had to get a lot of extra dishes in order to feel like we had had enough protein in our meal. There is also the scheduling system, which is a bit of a mystery. One can go from "120 minute wait" to "hurry back, you have 5 minutes!" in a very short amount of time. So: 3 stars, with a bonus star for cute robots and awesome sesame balls. we visit occasionally, but it is not part of our regular rotation.

Yelp
I went to Kura the day it opened, and despite the two hour wait it was worth it. Over the past couple years, the quality of the food and service has steadily gone down. Don't expect to see a belt full of sushi. You have to order practically anything good, which defeats the purpose. In an hour and a half dinner, the server did not come by once, leaving empty cups and napkins piling up on the table. Despite this, every single item has gone up in price, some of the dishes even 40%. One thing that hasn't changed since opening are the $4.00 fountain drinks, it's excessive. Go once, experience the novelty. I probably won't go back, despite eating there at least 30 times in the past.
