"In beautiful Roma Norte, head to this brightly lit nook for an excellent selection of carne asada tacos, birria, and tortas. Nothing is rushed or done without care, as the kitchen takes its time grilling everything to order. Quesabirria is a winner with and without the delicate consommé. Carne asada features excellent sear and seasoning. Also not to be missed are the fantastic tortas, built on excellent bread and layered with precision. The sparse dining room is a simple affair of plastic stools and metal tables." - Michelin Inspector

The 38 Best Restaurants in Mexico City | Eater

"In the past year, Northern-style tacos have flooded Mexico City streets, and now Baja California Norte has yet another representative in LA 89. The small, unpretentious taco joint focuses on birria and carne asada tacos and tortas, with substantial doses of guacamole in a very Tijuana fashion. The flour tortillas come from Hermosillo, and the cheese from Sonora. If you can’t actually travel to the north of Mexico, a visit to LA 89 on Colima Street is the next best thing. Must-try dish: Order your tacos with flour tortillas." - Natalia de la Rosa

Delicious birria tacos but I wish the waiter told us how large they were because 2 each made an entire meal. We had to take them to go. We also ordered 2 asada with queso tacos and they were also pretty large. Overall very good flavors. Definitely expensive for what it is, and they also ask you at the end if you want to give tip.

We stopped here while just passing by to get a single taco, not a full meal. I wish we’d ordered more, it was delicious and very fresh.

Excellent northern style tacos in a simple set up 🌮 The carne asado tacos are my comfort food 😋 love the sauce selection as well. Ask for corn tortilla to make it gluten free. Don’t miss the flan 💕 love the creamy and smooth texture.

Very mediocre tacos and overall average service. After hearing a lot of hype about this taco shop, I decided to stop by for a visit. We were acknowledged right away and handed menus, but that’s where the positives ended. When we placed our orders, I chose a birria and a carne asada taco, but we were never asked if we wanted any drinks, which felt odd. The tacos arrived quickly, and I started with the birria taco. It wasn’t bad, but something felt missing in terms of flavor. The carne asada taco was a disappointment—it was very greasy and not enjoyable at all. The only highlight was the flour tortilla, brought from Baja California, which was the best part of the meal. Service wasn’t their strong suit either. It took forever to get acknowledged for the bill, even though the restaurant is quite small. Despite all the hype, and their “reputation” for birria tacos, I felt like the meal was heavy and lacked the quality I was expecting.

Discovering Alejandro's new taco spot around the corner from Campobaja felt like stumbling upon a hidden gem. Alejandro, our favorite chef in Mexico, who we've loyally followed every Sunday at 1 PM to Campobaja, has opened this delightful haven of tacos, and it’s nothing short of a culinary marvel. The menu is a testament to Alejandro’s mastery. Our beloved Carne Asada tacos, which we've adored at Campobaja, were as sensational as ever, bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. The real coal fire adds an authentic touch that elevates the taste to another level. Beyond the Carne Asada, the menu is a treasure trove of Mexican delights. The birria was rich and hearty, the tortas were generously filled and flavorful, the quesadillas were oozing with cheese, and the burritos were packed with a symphony of ingredients. Each dish looked and smelled as incredible as it tasted. Alejandro's new restaurant isn't just about food; it’s an experience. The ambiance, the aroma of the coal fire, and the impeccable service all contribute to making this spot a must-visit for any taco enthusiast. We’re thrilled to have discovered this place and look forward to many more Sundays enjoying Alejandro’s culinary genius. If you love tacos, this restaurant is a paradise you cannot miss.
