"Baia is a big and fancy vegan Italian restaurant in Hayes Valley that’s perfect for when you want to dress up and not feel dumb. A beautiful, sparkling string light fixture hangs at the center of the two-story space. People in suits and cocktail dresses are everywhere (thank the proximity to the symphony, opera, theater, and ballet for that). Just be careful about getting your suit or $400 cocktail dress dirty—this place serves sauced-up pastas (go for the spicy spaghetti or fresh fava bean radiatore), solid pizzas, and excellent finger-food starters like crispy mozzarella sticks and spicy maitake n’duja with crisp puccia bread. If you’re dining with someone who enjoys music and theater, and are into simple, beautifully plated Italian meals, this is the spot." - Ricky Rodriguez

La Baia restaurant is the place to go for a fantastic meal with great service and atmosphere! It's on the waterfront in Plymouth, inside and outside tables are very comfortable and they have an excellent delicious vegan option. They accommodate all tastes!

Wow wow wow. Absolutely fantastic! Have to admit they were off to a slow start server took a while to come to us but man she really turned it around. Later found out it was her first day and she was supposed to be paired with someone who called out. She really recovered well and was super sweet! The food was even better. The bread and oil was amazing and fresh. Highly recommend!

July2023: Specials highlight the kitchen's ability, so I recommend trying them. Service wasn't bad, but smiling & some warmth would go a long way. Oct2023: Properly cooked pork chop & ample dish for price. Enjoyed a yummy pasta dish this time & ordered 2 colorful cocktails that while festive, were not so delicious as to order again. Next time, we'll try a more traditional drink to see if bartenders can deliver given some past reviews.

We thought we’d give this new restaurant a try a we all like Mediterranean food. It did not disappoint! I had chicken kabob which was delicious and my mom had the salmon (which I tried too & perfectly cooked) my brother had the steak (tried a piece of that too & it was very juicy). My daughter & niece loved their kabobs too! The spanakopita was very flaky and delicious. We ordered the yummy chocolate cake to split for dessert. Our server (which I forgot to get her name) was very attentive so she gets an “A” for her service. We will be back for sure!

Was a snack stop for myself and my friends on a weekend getaway. We got the bruschetta, antipasto and the Mediterranean platter. Food was great, service with a smile, great ambience right across the waterside. Used to NY style service and food and this was fantastic. Highly recommend.

Waterfront Dining Experience ~ Plymouth has long been home to local businesses and La baia is a shining example of what happens when dedicated, longtime business owners brings a fresh vision to the waterfront. From the moment you arrive, you're met with an outstanding view, whether you choose to dine outdoors on a beautiful day or step inside to a warm and welcoming ambiance. The atmosphere is truly inviting, and the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. La baia isn't just a restaurant ~it's an experience. The menu is exceptional, with a perfect balance of creative cuisine and classic favorites. The daily specials always impress, offering something new and exciting to try each visit. And for pizza lovers, I can't say enough about their cauliflower crust - one of the best gluten free options in town! Wether you're a local of just visiting historic Plymouth, La baia is a must visit destination. It's more than an meal; it's a place where great food, a breathtaking setting, and a top-tier hospitality come together seamlessly. Highly recommend!

Google
Best Mediterranean food you can find in New England. Recommend ordering the roasted half chicken. Drinks are very crisp and refreshing. Food is phenomenal. Recommend bringing a nice big party so more people can enjoy this wonderful restaurant

Google
Had a nice harbor & people watching view from the patio, a lovely bourbon cocktail, and the salmon was prepared to absolute perfection. Especially enjoyed the slight (and delicious) twist in the moujadara. Looking forward to further exploring the menu.

Patrick G.

Yelp
While I haven't eaten here yet, I can say unequivocally that they serve excellent cocktails in a lovely setting. While lively, the bar scene never seems too loud. The maple old fashioned, garnished with an amazing folded slice of bacon, is not to be missed.

Yelp
Beautiful spot right on the waterfront in Plymouth Massachusetts. Waiter was great, attentive and very helpful. Food was delicious pictures don't do it justice. Tried the grilled octopus, delicious and tender nice char on it reminded me of Portugal. We also tried the Lamb Lollipops, these were delicious with a nice pesto sauce. Tender fall off the bone with great flavor. No complaints on any of the other meals. Highly recommended if you're looking for a nice place to grab a meal or a drink downtown Plymouth.

Bella T.

Yelp
Fresh good food! This location is on the pricier side, but it's located right in the waterfront of Plymouth and with a cozy ambiance. Clean and updated. Service was good too. A little weird in a way but nothing to complain about and I would go back. I came in with my boyfriend on a Thursday night and it wasn't too busy. Easy to get in and no wait. Service from the host stand was a alright but our server was better. We were sat in a nice cozy corner table that had comfy seating. The food was definitely good. My only issue here though is that I ordered the Salmon and the server did not ask me how I wanted it cooked. Not sure if that was the restaurants standard, because I know I was able to ask myself, but I'm typically asked. Not thinking anything of it I made no comment and it came fully cooked which is not my preference. A similar situation goes for my boyfriend's entree. He ordered the Lamb Kabab and wasn't asked how he wanted the tips cooked. Understandably so, sometimes tips are hard to be controlled but again, never asked, and he thought nothing of it so when he received the plate, they were definitely cooked through as well.

Yelp
A fantastic experience! Delicious food, great service, and a wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Yelp
2 of us arrived at 6:15 on a Thursday evening and were seated at a table on the patio. There were many spots inside available and several outdoors. SERVICE: Alec is friendly, knowledgeable of the menu and ensured we were attended to throughout our meal. When the condensation from the water bottle began to make a little river on the table, Alec brought out some cocktail napkins, which solved that issue. He was accommodating when we had to send something back and the check was appropriately handled. Be sure to ask about specials if your server does not proactively inform you. They usually have some. FOOD: The Mediterranean Trio is a light app, with freshly made hummus, Tzatziki, olives and veggies. It is served with lightly toasted pita bread. The Fish of the Day was Branzino $32), which was deboned and had lemon slices inserted between the 2 layers. It was excellent, as were the sides and large enough to share. The only disappointing dish was the meatballs. They were quite overcooked and dry. After one bite we let Alec know and he removed them from the table and the bill in a very professional manner. BAR: We sat outside, however the bar inside looked comfy and had a nice vibe. My cosmo, $14, was an appropriate size and made perfectly. Wine was $13 and an average pour. ATMOSPHERE: It is so nice a spot has opened up to eat where we can sit outside and eat quality food, people watch and see the water. We did quickly see the inside and it has a cool decor. The AC was definitely cranked, so I'd recommend a light jacket/sweater if you eat inside.

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
We loved it. We ate outside. Food is great. A lot of different Mediterranean choices, lamb, steak, chicken, pizza, pasta, and Kebabs. Something for everyone. We ate outside. Tables are near the street overlooking the bay where you can watch ships traveling the harbor. Great service

Jackie C.

Yelp
What a lovely meal. Atmosphere beautiful, we ate outside and enjoyed Plymouth harbor. We started with the Mediterranean trio, it was delicious. My husband had the lamb shank and as the other reviewers note it was great. I had the bolognese and my leftovers were gobbled up that night by son.

Rob A.

Yelp
Nice location on the waterfront.Great server. La Baia is mostly a high end Greek menu. A maple old fashioned hit the spot. Arrabiata with shrimp and sausage was salty and excellent. Big portion. Toasted almond tiramisu was a cool variant on the timeless dessert. Recommended.

Robert A.

Yelp
Excellent ambiance and food. Service got quite slow on a bust Saturday night. The Mediterranean menu was about half Greek and half Italian. We stayed with the Greek food and thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

AngieG G.

Yelp
I went back last night to give the restaurant another chance. Well I can't say enough! Everything was perfect. I went with a friend and we ordered cocktails and then a variety of appetizers to share. Everything was delicious Our waitress couldn't have been nicer, she was attentive but not overwhelming asking if we needed anything else. We had a window seat which the view is spectacular. Highly recommend

Fatboy S.

Yelp
Would've gone 3 1/2 stars if available. Place was okay, but didn't live up to expectations. Octopus app was average. Spanakopita was good. Lamb kabobs lacked flavor. Seafood risotto special was good - not great. Service was friendly, but had long waits at times. Not sure if I'd return.

Chris S.

Yelp
We moved to Plymouth a few months ago and have already been to La Baia multiple times. Our favorite spot in town so far. Excellent food, service & drinks.

Stephen B.

Yelp
It was good. I wanted to like it more. Our server was so fun and the food was good, it just seemed to fall short of what I wanted/expected. It's like when you can't remember a word but it's sitting there on your tongue/edge of your mind. Wish it was a bit better as I'm sick of the selection of places in Plymouth and this was different. May give it another try next summer to see if it changed.

Mike L.

Yelp
Amazing staff and outstanding cocktails. Definitely a must destination for great ambiance and excellent food.

Brian A.

Yelp
I live in Plymouth so I hit the waterfront often to eat. I've eaten at this restaurant a couple times now. The food is usually very good and the service is always great. They have an excellent staff of waiters and waitress. I was there the week before fourth of July and I was expecting much of the same. A really good dinner with nice wine and some focaccia bread to round it all out. I got all of that. The problem was it was a very chilly night and we were very cold. We asked to sit next to one of the decorative heaters they have on the patio. We were dressed for cold too by the way. We asked if they could fire it up and the waitress said " We don't usually do that until after dark. I'll ask the manger." This was at 6:30PM. She returned and told us the manager said "no. It's too early. We are not turning them on until 8:00pm." What a joke! When customers are asking for something like heat and paying $32-37.00 a plate, drinking wine and cocktails. Turn on the heaters for God sakes! So. Like I said good food good service. Poor manger decisions. If you're thinking of stopping in. Keep that in mind. I'll be back on a warmer night. Maybe.

Gordon C.

Yelp
Not a great experience First off it's really loud - now part of that was the people at the table next to us who were basically screaming at each other - but it's not a relaxing environment. The waiter was honestly pretty terrible - we barely saw him, he never brought water he promised, just not great. The food was good - not fantastic but good. The red wine was really warm - like it was stored in a hot kitchen. I won't go back

Brian B.

Yelp
La Baia is one of our go-to restaurants in downtown Plymouth. The drinks are delicious and so is the food. We always get the white pizza. The bartenders are fantastic.

Andrew B.

Yelp
Service was excellent and we liked the vibe/atmosphere. Out of the four of us, two thought the food was very good and two thought is was just okay. It was our first visit, so we'll try it again and order a different dish. (Spanakopita was excellent)

Penny V.

Yelp
Focaccia bread was exceptional as well as the lamb shank, one of the best that I've ever had. Soup of the day was chicken and bean with Tasso. A little undercooked and the soup could have been more flavorful yet it was nice to taste the Tasso. Service was good. Interior is contemporary and has a great open feel. Many windows with a view of the harbor. Just wish it would be open for lunch.

Ann-Marie M.

Yelp
I ordered the vegan option )was good). My friend enjoyed her choice as well (meat). Quaint setting with great views of waterfront.

Susan G.

Yelp
We live in Plymouth, and this is the first time we've been here. It's very beautiful inside and out. We were seated at a table overlooking the harbor. My husband had the maple bourbon old fashioned, and I tried the cucumber vodka mint drink. I had the mussels to start. They were delicious with harissa and blood orange. I also ordered a pizza de papa which was wonderful as well. My husband had the chicken saltimbocca which he raved about. Our waitress Christina was very efficient and friendly. We love Zura the owner and hadn't seen him in a while. A great experience overall.

Carolyn A.

Yelp
What a great new restaurant addition to our Plymouth waterfront. La Baia is a classy, comfortable, and welcoming restaurant to enjoy on any night of the week. Most importantly, the Mediterranean/Middle Eastern cuisine is absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is cozy, yet inviting and relaxing enough, to be able to chill with family and friends. The staff is attentive and certainly accommodating to their customers. We happen to sit at the bar to eat, and found Carolina the bartender to be a charm tending to every need to make our dining experience pleasant and enjoyable. We would definitely recommend checking out La Baia!!

Chuck E.

Yelp
$1.50 oysters. Very fresh. Came in for the oysters & a couple of cocktails. Nice ambiance. Nice staff. Very good service. I'd come back for a full dinner.

Addy G.

Yelp
I was so excited to finally go to La Baia, I had been anxiously a waiting a Mediterranean fusion restaurant from the same owner as Cafe Strega which is my favorite restaurant in all of Plymouth! Sitting pretty on the waterfront in downtown Plymouth, La Baia is a brand new, gorgeous casual to fine dining restaurant offering indoor and outdoor, patio seating and a delicious menu. We met family there with my one year old and had a nice booth in the corner, tucked away from traffic for my one year old. We started with appetizers. It's a no-brainer to order the hummus and tzatziki. Made in the house, hands-down the most delicious tzatziki I have ever had. Served with vegetables and pita bread. It's a great, shareable option for the table. We also shared the kale Caesar salad for the table. We ordered two oysters each as well, they were so fresh and delicious we thought someone caught them outside minutes before. The portions are generous so it was another shareable option. We all started out with cocktails. They have a great cocktail menu and wine list. Our service was amazing. The bread, oh my goodness, the bread and olive oil is so hard it to fill up on. We were never left unattended. She was great at keeping us informed of the menu and made sure we had everything we needed. She recommended the Kebobs as the most popular item. Most of us at the table ordered that. I had shrimp and the rest of the table had chicken. There are also pizza and pasta items to choose from. My husband ordered the lamb shank and said it was the best lamb shank he's ever had. We were celebrating an engagement at the table and our server brought us out a chocolate cake with a sparkler. We also ordered lemon tiramisu. Overall, I was just there last week and I already can't wait to return. The menu, food, service, location, ambience, EVERYTHING was amazing. Until next time La Baia!

Sara ..

Yelp
Shout out to La Baia.....dinner last night was fabulous. I make a mean chicken piccata but their's outdid mine... tender chicken, homemade pasta and enough for 3 people. Excellent waiter Alec, yummy bread, good drinks, fabulous Caesar and a personal thank you to the owner for a great meal. Happy to report that it was mobbed! Thank you again we 4 will be back soon!

Stephen B.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. If you're looking for Mediterranean cuisine, La Baia is a great choice

Julie F.

Yelp
I would give 5 stars for the complimentary bread, the mussels app, and the drink menu but a 3 stars for the ambiance, service, and entrees. The mussels app was delicious and the complimentary bread was AMAZING. The cocktail menu was good. The La baia salad had a nice lemony dressing and tasted fresh. The Hellenic pasta entree lacked flavor and fell short. A friend got the chicken kebab and some of it was questionably not cooked fully. The restaurant was extremely loud from multiple crying children and nearby loud talkers but that may not always be the case. Service was somewhat slow but not awful and may have just been from a busy night. Would definitely come back for drinks, apps, and of course the complimentary focaccia bread.

Pete S.

Yelp
The reviews on this site are totally misleading. This place was awful and expensive. Total disaster! The service was the worse part (Devin), but the food was worse. The octopus was over cooked and the portion was pathetic. The lamb was flavorless and tough. The steak was also a cheap cut and not even tender for $41. The drinks were good... when they finally arrived. They were out of everything, including orange juice! Pathetic effort for $300 for a party of 4. Go elsewhere

Silva S.

Yelp
Really good service and food.Walter helped us,and he was very kind. And the manager came and checked on us and made sure everything was okay.Definitely recommend.

Julie P.

Yelp
Great service and delicious food! We were crazy lucky to get a table last minute for 10 of us. As word gets out - they will fill up. Creative cocktails and innovative foods. Our group had mixed desires- vegetarian- non dairy- and there was something for everyone. I got the daily special / spinach ravioli and chicken breast. My husband got chicken kabob and Caesar salad with anchovies which he loves. It's not cheap but worth it for a special occasion. $50- 60 each including cocktails

Andrea C.

Yelp
My husband and I have eaten at La Baia several times. The food is excellent and service is outstanding! Atmosphere is warm and relaxing. We can't wait to go back.

Cheryl S.

Yelp
I've eaten La Baia twice in a week. The food is as good as it gets. The staff is very young and very gracious and well trained. The only negative is the high sound level from the well satisfied customers.

Angela M.

Yelp
New spot in a gorgeous area of Plymouth in the water. The staff was amazing. The food was delicious and Authenic, as good as the food I have had in Greece. We got the Mediterranean trio, the horiatiki salad, and the lamb meatballs. Everyone was unbelievably good and we will def be back. The hostess was great, our server Alec was fantastic and the entire staff was warm and welcoming. Great job! Will def be back and telling friends!

Linda M.

Yelp
Great view, good service, friendly, large portions. Lamb shank was delicious! I'd go back.

Lisa C.

Yelp
The salmon was fresh and cooked to perfection. My husband had the pork chop. It was thick and delicious. We had the lamb meatballs for an appetizer - fantastic! Kids enjoyed the pizza.

Karen J.

Yelp
This is among the worst restaurant experiences we have ever had. First, the sound level is the dining room is deafening, and only from customer voices, no music or group entertaining. They need some carpeting or other soft surfaces to soak up some of the noise. We wound up sitting outside. Service was awful. Clearly, they were in over their heads. It was a half hour until we got cocktails - the server said the bar was "a little backed up". Our lamb kabobs were tough and sinewy. The swordfish kabob smelled fishy from across the table. Rice was dry. Vegs undercooked. When one of our party ordered an expresso martini, it, too, was delayed for some time and we were told they were "waiting for glasses to come out of the dishwasher" (?) None of the 4 of us will ever go back.

Joe G.

Yelp
I know that I read the reviews here and rely upon them to try new restaurants, but I haven't posted a review in a while. Last night my wife and I tried a new (to us) restaurant that I hadn't seen (or remembered) being reviewed on this forum, La Baia in Plymouth, located at 98 Water street on the waterfront, at the location of the former Governor Bradford Hotel. It's a short walk from downtown and from the collection of restaurants further down the waterfront. The restaurant décor was inviting and warm. The staff was welcoming and helpful. We had reservations, but there were seats at the bar which we prefer, so we sat there. Our bartender, Carolina was especially helpful and patient while we asked questions about the menu and drinks. The cuisine is Mediterranean, which we hadn't experienced, so we had many questions and hoped for a different dining experience. We were not disappointed. We started with cocktails. I had an old fashioned which was perfectly prepared with a single large ice cube, and the bartender offered to add smoke which was a bonus. My wife had a martini, that was limoncello and pomegranate with a sugared rim. Both were delicious. For an appetizer we had Mussels in a blood orange Harissa broth. The portion wasn't overwhelming, but ample for us to split as an appetizer. It was delicious. For our entrees; I had the Moroccan Style Lamb Shank with vegetable couscous, my wife had the Lamb Kebab with grilled vegetables and Moujadara rice, both were perfectly prepared and seasoned. They were excellent! The menu was varied enough to please most people. We are excited to return and try other items on the menu. Prices were reasonable given the quality of the meals, wines and drinks. I would highly recommend. La Baia (labaiaplymouth.com)

John K.

Yelp
Great food and service. Strongly recommend their margaritas. Specials always good. Can't go wrong here.

Matt C.

Yelp
I don't often post on Yelp or anywhere but people need to run, not walk to La Baia restaurant. My wife and I celebrated our 21st anniversary here and the service, cocktails and meal were the best I have had at a restaurant in a long, long time. We had the grape leaf appetizer, the swordfish kabobs, pork chop, pistachio cheesecake, and a few cocktails and they were all top quality. Great ambiance and atmosphere to top it all off and the location in historic Plymouth makes this restaurant not to be missed. Book your table tomorrow...you will thank me later.

Ben K.

Yelp
Great food great staff. Highly recommend. About time some good Mediterranean food has come to Plymouth. Two thumbs up!

Spencer M.

Yelp
It has amazing food amazing staff amazing quality and its a modern place. I would recommend anyone who lives in plymouth to go to La Baia.

David P.

Yelp
Inside is beautiful, service was great, food was delicious. Look forward to coming back again.

David T.

Yelp
My wife and I eat at "Fourlida" time so we were the only patrons at the bar. We prefer to eat at the bar due to conversations with people and staff (no offense to table patrons). As soon as we sat down our bartender/waiter, Jacob was attentive to drinks, specials and recommendations. My wife and I are foodies so we preview the menu to pick our favorites before we hear the specials. We (really me) started with the grilled octopus and then we shared the trio platter. So my solo review for the grilled was incredibly delicious! Tender with flavor from the lemon vinaigrette. The trio platter was delicious in every aspect, from the cheeses to the prosciutto, to the medley of olives. We had to request more Focaccia due to more dipping, schmearing from the trio platter. Next we decided to split a pizza and a pasta dish. My wife ordered from their delicious sounding Bianca pizza. The crust was cooked crispy with the sweet smell of the Mascarpone cheese and roasted garlic made this pizza to die for! For the pasta we ordered the Hellenic pasta. I've never had Lukaniko Greek sausage before. It's an acquired taste but the dish was delicious. We're planning to go back soon.

Cristian G.

Yelp
I had been wanting to try this place for some time and it honestly the best Mediterranean food I've ever had! Can't wait to go back!
