The 18 Best Restaurants In Westchester - New York - The Infatuation

"La Bastide opened in February 2024, in the same farmhouse location as the much-loved Cenadou. It occupies the lower level of the property, and offers multi-course tasting menus at luxury price points. In return, you get waves of seasonal, seafood-focused dishes, including some you’ll likely talk about for days, like a charcoal sea bass served on a personal-size ceramic grill with a sake and clam sauce. The husband and wife team (who moved from NYC to run both restaurants onsite) have peppered in little touches that make the space feel cozy despite the formal setting, like leather wrapped tables and chairs oriented to face the wooded outdoor property." - mike wasserman

La Bastide is truly another hidden gem. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful—romantic and cosy whether you’re dining indoors or outside. The food is nothing short of superb. Every dish tastes as though it’s made with love, using fresh, authentic ingredients. We savoured every bite and can’t wait to return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an unforgettable French dining experience.

For entrees we had the canard de foie gras parfait and the steak tartare. Both were presented nicely and appetising, but the parfait was the stand out. It came with a side of warm brioche that was soft and fluffy and complemented it really well. The steak could’ve done with a little bit of salt and the chips kept breaking, so I just ended up crushing them up and mixing it in with the tartare. It was still good though! For mains we had the wagin farm magret de canard (duck) and the veal special. Both dishes were done well, it was delicious. The service is really welcoming, friendly and attentive. The wine list is extensive. Would definitely recommend this for a date night spot or special occasion. Would also recommend dining outside. The area is enclosed, heated, a little quieter and nicer with the lights. Inside area is a bit cramped and can get noisy.

Food was good but to us the most delightful was the great service received ! The Orangina, a French “orange Fanta” my kids really liked !

Came here with a group of work friends. We had a wonderful time. The food was incredible. The duck was so tender, the steak frites was amazing, and the crème brûlée was the perfect end to a wonderful dining experience. The evening felt like such a treat (a special thank you to the chef Tim!). The service was attentive and we were very much looked after.

Last Friday, we ordered Steak & French fries (lunch set 2 course) and unfortunately I found what appeared to be a fried bug mixed in with the food. When we brought it to the staff’s attention, the chef insisted it wasn’t a bug — but potato’s root! (Like really even my 10yo said it’s a bug! from the photo I showed him) Then they decided to compliment the dish. Regardless of explanation, this was extremely off-putting and raises serious concerns about food hygiene. Mistakes can happen, but how they’re handled makes a big difference. I didn’t feel the issue was taken seriously. Hoping the kitchen takes a closer look at quality control going forward. I won’t be returning.

We came here for a birthday dinner for my mother in law. The staff were friendly and the mains were enjoyable. Wine and mocktails were good too. Nice touch singing happy birthday also. This place would get 5 stars if it made a few small changes. Charging for filtered tap water seems unnecessary and leaves a slightly bitter taste. Also the way they offer the truffle is misleading. They come round offering some on your meal without disclosing that it’s 15 dollars extra per person at the time and then you see a charge at the end on the bill. It’s not about the money, it’s just the lack of transparency that left us feeling frustrated. If they’d explained the extra cost at the time of offering, i wouldn’t have minded in the slightest. overall it’s an authentic french experience as it reminds of Paris… enjoyable but you leave feeling ever so slightly ripped off.

Beautiful French cafe with great food, friendly and warm service and they've created a wonderful environment that makes you feel like you're in Europe. Dog friendly in the courtyard too. Highly recommend the chips, burrata salad, steak tartare, mushrooms, cheesecake... Everything really! Spend an afternoon reading in the courtyard with a glass of wine. Addit: back again and the food is amazing!!! Love the cauliflower and burrata salad!

I recently dined at Le Bastide in Shenton Park, and I must say it was a delightful experience. As someone who appreciates French cuisine, I was excited to try their offerings. Throughout the evening, the service was impeccable. Our waitress was attentive and provided excellent recommendations. The cozy French bistro-style decor added to the overall ambiance. The food is outstanding, and the warm and attentive service enhances the overall experience. I particularly recommend the steak tartare, which has become a favorite of mine. Additionally, the duck is not to be missed. If you appreciate French cuisine, Le Bastide is a highly recommended dining destination. Alex
