La Bettola di Terroni - Review - Larchmont - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"La Bettola di Terroni is the younger, more Sicilian-leaning sibling of Terroni, a fairly mediocre Italian restaurant in Beverly Grove. As with its predecessor, the pastas at this small Larchmont restaurant are mostly forgettable, including a salt-deprived linguine allo scoglio and an equally bland alla norma with grated mozzarella on top. The appetizers are better, though. Go for the crispy cod fritters dipped in a sweet red pepper sauce, or the briny swordfish carpaccio with little slivers of orange to tone down the fishiness. The move here is to sit at the bar, order wine or a cocktail, and eat small plates until your parking meter runs out. If you’re looking for a proper dinner, there are better dinner options nearby (certainly better Italian ones)." - Sylvio Martins

I came in to dine for lunch which was decently busy as most of the restaurant was already full. The seating is a little tigher than other places probably causing for more noise than usual. Overall, though, the food and service was great. I ordered a couple dishes, the Tagliatelle Bolognese and Pizza Funghi which was enough to split between two people. The beef ragu in the Tagliatelle Bolognese especially stood out.

Wow this place is just amazing! Came here for a celebratory graduation dinner and it exceeding my expectations! Oliver was our server and he was just the best! He gave amazing recommendations and was constantly checking up on us. I can say without a doubt that this is the best resturant I’ve been to here in LA and Oliver is by far the best server I’ve ever had in my life.

Google
Wow. That was hands down the saltiest food l have ever had in my life and I love salty food!!! Gives you headaches and heavy heartbeats upon completion. It's too bad bc the staff and their service was great. Very overpriced and salty. I definitely do not recommend. We tried the frito and 2 pastas and all 3 dishes were hard to finish because of the level of salt each dish had.

Definitely enjoy the food & the atmosphere, the food was awesome. The waitress was nice, the vibe was immaculate. Wow think we going again this weekend

I am a very frequent customer of Terroni West Hollywood and I was so glad to see this new location was equally fabulous. The menu includes lots of my favorites from the original menu plus some new and different additions. I do with they had house wine and the butterscotch budino tho! We were sat at the most gorgeous marble indoor/outdoor table which was perfect for a big group celebrating a special occasion and the service was especially excellent!!!!

Google
La Bettola Di Terroni may not be the best Italian restaurant, but this causal eatery is a much needed addition to Larchmont Village. They try hard to reinvent Italian staples and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, usually due to odd food pairings. They are best when they stick to the classics. Their ingredients are fresh, the staff is friendly and I can usually get a reservation whenever I need one. They offer a bar and indoor dining, but my favorite spot is on their lighted outdoor patio which has been cordoned off for a pleasant dining atmosphere. You can dine there and watch the nightlife of Larchmont Village, much as you would in a Paris cafe

Google
Going to be real - I hadn’t been drawn to try this spot previously but last night, my husband and I were looking for a place with ambiance—so we gave it a shot, and I'm glad we did. Service was great— I observed our hostess handling difficult patrons with grace, and our waitress helped us pick excellent wines. We ordered the Nizzarda salad, Fritto Misto, and two pastas—Tonnarelli alla Norcina and Spaghetti al Limone. Everything was excellent! The Nizzarda had a nicely seared tuna, the Fritto Misto was fresh and well seasoned, the Limone pasta had a bright, punchy flavor balanced with the salinity of the capers and parmigiano, and the Tonnarelli was a nice contrast to the Limone with a more earthy, rustic bite. Both pastas were perfectly al dente. We had a really nice time!

Google
Disclaimer, I didn’t buy anything. I’m a food photographer and it was my day off. I was exploring the area and went to a bakery next door. The seating outside looked inviting, which I mistook as part of the bakery. I brought my pastry purchase to a table for a quick photo in the sun, and then I’d be on my way. I was barely there for 5 seconds when behind me, I hear a snooty sounding voice say in a scolding manner, “this seating is not for Levain. You can’t be here, it’s a restaurant!” Sounded a real Karen. I don’t want this rude incident to reflect on the business, but it makes me happy to skip it because of the waiter.

Yelp
Terroni is outstanding and authentic Italian food prepared well.. It is so nice to have Terroni in the neighborhood and we may go there once a week at least. It's also nice that there's a full bar because after 35 years of living in the neighborhood, there is never been a restaurant that has had a liquor license. They have great seasonal menu changes and specials as well so it never gets monotonous.

Yelp
Was walking around Larchmont and stopped by to grab a drink (couple of martinis). Service was great but the drinks were very mediocre. As for ambiance, most of the seating is outdoors and inside seating is limited. Didn't try the food as I had ate earlier.

Yelp
Everything about La Bettina Di Terroni is amazing. I come back every week for the great service and the of course the authenticity of the food. It's like you're in Italy but still in LA. I love that they stay true to the Italian culture and always make me feel welcome. The ambiance never misses , it's definitely place to come check out and see.

Yelp
I had such a lovely experience here recently on a visit for lunch. I stopped to do some work and loved the outdoor seating, the menu options for lunch and they had wifi. Score! During the week, they have lunch specials that are priced lower than the usual lunch menu (at least most of the items). I'm doing Keto/Paleo right now (my latest diet craze!) and this spot was a gem among Italian restaurants that often mostly just have pasta and pizza. This place had all of that, but I was thrilled to see the skirt steak with a side salad topped with fresh grated parmesan on the menu. The portion size wasn't massive but it was perfect for what I was looking for. Larchmont is such a cute spot, and was having a hard time on deciding which place to go to. I love Great White across the street, but they tend to be a zoo. This place was pretty easy to just show up and grab a table outside for lunch. The service was friendly and I didn't feel rushed, which I appreciated as I was also doing some work. I'm not drinking alcohol at the moment, but wow, the next time I come back, I'm definitely ordering an Aperol Spritz with that steak and salad.

Yelp
La Bettola Di Terroni is the newest addition to open in Larchmont Village. The space was also an Italian restaurant Vernetti, which I didn't have a chance to dine at but am glad to dine here now, in this tavern, which in Italian is Bettola. This restaurant is part of the Terroni restaurant group throughout the US and Europe. This restaurant is an extension to the OG Terroni on Beverly Bl in the Beverly Grove area, in LA The menu offers the popular selections and we decided on a few of my favorites: Caprese salad, calamari alla griglia and spaghetti bolognese topped with black truffles ...every fish was delish. I made sure to request the pasta be cooked NOT Al dente, but a tad longer, as I hate chewy pasta. The pizzas were to die for: off menu is a Margarita pizza and from the menu, the pizza Funghi with mozzarella, caramelized onions and mushrooms was so delicious. Staff were cordial and accommodating. Seating indoor and outdoor, and I always prefer the later. The seating space inside the restaurant was tight and the acoustics wasn't good either. Seating at the bar counter was fun especially with cool and friendly bartender Corey there. Corey also moonlights at the Hideaway in Beverly Hills. This new restaurant drew in more diners as the evening progressed, some familiar faces and well as new...made for an exciting and fun dining experience. The wine list was good, and have tried a glass of Pinot Grigio but we decided to skip a second glass serving of vino and enjoy a night cap later. Overall a pleasant dining experience at an Italian style tavern, also known as La Bettola di Terroni which we will revisit and merits a recommend!!

Yelp
I'd been wanting to go to dinner here and when my friend suggested meeting here I was excited about trying it. This was our first and last visit. Strike One: We started with Negronis which are PREMADE and poured from a bottle. Strike Two: We ordered an appetizer to share and two pasta entrees and everything arrived at the same time so the pastas sat while we finished the appetizer. We wondered if we were being rushed. Then later no one checked on us during the meal. Strike Three: I was very aware of the price of the wine I ordered and we were served a more expensive carafe (Barolo vs. Barbera). I just let it go. I was already thinking it was a place I wasn't going to return to and that sealed it. Foodwise, the Funghi Assoluti was superb. The baked mushrooms, crispy bread crumbs and arugula was the perfect starter. The tagliatelle alla Bolognese was good and my friend enjoyed the spaghetti with lemon and capers special although she said the spaghetti had clumped together as it sat while we were having the appetizer. Although the food was good the overall experience was regrettable. With the myriad of Italian restaurants in this city we have a lot of other places to choose from in our future dining meetups.

Yelp
Kelsie and I made an impromptu stop at La Bettola Di Terroni while perusing around in Larchmont Village this past weekend. We were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome from Nina, the hostess. She also brought a doggie water bowl for our little Millie. We ordered a few appetizers to go with our espresso martinis which were legit! Among the dishes, we enjoyed the Prosciutto Crudo e Burrata, the most. The highlight was most certainly connecting with Michael, our waiter. What a cool guy! Super warm, kind and just plain awesome!

Yelp
*** 3.5 stars *** Very cute spot on Larchmont that I would come back to for the service and ambiance. It is a bit pricey and the food was uninspired (split a salad and a steak that were both rather forgettable) but fine. We came for an early dinner so it was chill and not very busy and we were only getting a light bite. I might have been disappointed coming here for a nice dinner in the evening, but it is okay for happy hour etc.

Yelp
Delicious food and patio area. Service is just ok but who cares? I'm there for the food. My fav dish was the lemon pasta! I would go back.

Yelp
Dinned here many times with $25 corkage fee, now it's $35 and it's never been $25 the new manager says, will not go back for inconsistency and poor customer experience.

Yelp
I was a huge fan of Vernetti, the restaurant that previously occupied this space, so I had my doubts about La Bettola when it took over this Larchmont storefront when Steve Vernetti left. But I have been twice for lunch and again tonight for dinner and I can honestly say that, as much as I liked Vernetti, La Bettola is just as good, or perhaps better. Somehow they have managed to dampen the noise in the beautifully revamped dining room so that it's vibrant but not cacophonous. Then there's the food. The vitello tonnato (veal with tuna sauce) was superb, as was the pear, endive and gorgonzola salad. Then there was the stunning orata (sea bream) from the specials list, in a sublime sauce of excellent butter (LOTS of it), capers and charred lemon. One of the best fish preparations I've ever eaten anywhere, period. The service was absolutely delightful. They brought serving utensils for sharing, which is often overlooked in even far more expensive restaurants than this. Our server, Katie, was knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. All in all, this was on of the best dining experiences of the year (and we eat out a lot). I will be returning many more times. THANK YOU to the entire Bettola team for a wonderful experience!

Yelp
I dined here today for a lunch meeting and quickly realized it had replaced a beloved Italian restaurant I had gone to with a friend a while back. It still has the quaint and intimate ambiance of the old place, but a bit more updated and modern, with a full bar rather than just a wine selection. Our server was attentive and gave us fantastic recommendations. We split a salad and pizza, for two it was the perfect amount. They have their own unique touch on classics, which made me excited to come back and try something new. Would recommend La Bettola Di Terroni for small groups, like 4 people, dates or a solo day to treat yourself.

Yelp
Atmospherically, this place is nailing it. Cute colors, cute tables, cozy chairs. And the staff is lovely and well-trained. I've had drinks here before and the bar is DOING EVERYTHING RIGHT. The food is mediocre and expensive, but it's a great choice for an air-conditioned (inside) Italian option on Larchmont. But then things took a turn. The previous Italian restaurant (in this spot) made a DELICIOUS lemon pasta. Reminiscing about it makes me miss Steve and his whole family. I ate there once a week. How excited I was to see lemon pasta on this menu as well! BUT IT HAS CAPERS. Seems like an overwhelming choice for a light lemon summer pasta, but I digress. I am unfortunately allergic to capers. I asked the server if she could leave them off. She said no. I asked if they were already precooked in the sauce. She said no, the chef plans the recipes to his exact specifications how he wants the dishes to taste, AND that I was welcome to order a different pasta if I "didn't want" capers. I asked her to ask the chef if he'd make an exception for an allergy. She did (allegedly), and he said no. I warned her there would be a review. I understand chefs truly caring about their creations, and that's awesome. Everybody loves THE BEAR. But I do not understand an average neighborhood restaurant not being able to withhold sprinkling a few death capers for a customer who was really looking forward to lemon pasta. Plus the entire exchange put me in a foul mood. I was trying to show my friend a nice time in Larchmont, and now he thinks it's stuffy and boring. I got the Cacio e Pepe instead. It was very edible, but certainly not a stand-out dish. And the portion was very small, especially for $22. I ate it all in about 5 bites. I would have ordered something else, but I was too miffed. My friend said his pasta was good, but nothing to about which to brag. He wasn't full either. Also, our water was not refilled. We paid and sat to chat a little longer (there were only a few other people inside, plenty of free tables). While I appreciate that they didn't mind us staying, they also didn't offer us more water, or pop by to see if we needed anything else. All in all this is too pricey of a restaurant to have an unpleasant experience, and not nearly expensive or delicious enough to enforce ridiculous recipe rules. I nearly expected to see Olivia Coleman walk out (had she, I might have made an exception). Angelini on Beverly is far superior.

Yelp
Hands down the best pomodoro I've ever had! Simple and delicious. You can tear up the Basil leaf to stir in the extra flavors into the sauce.
google avatar

Yelp
I originally wanted Greek but the restaurant down the street was closed until 5:00. We walk down the street a little and saw this gorgeous bar along the wall up high inside. We decided to give it a try because all the foods were based from the Sicilian culture. Our waiter was Michael and he was very attentive. I suggest you get there on off hours because the seating is a little tight inside this way you'll have more elbow room. The portions were perfect and the pasta was perfectly cooked al dente style. They've only been open a short while so give them some love and try out their delicious food. I will be doing back.

Yelp
My wife and I had dinner here. Excellent service and everything tasted great! Cocktails the waiter recommended was very good.
google avatar

Yelp
A little overpriced for what you get, but not bad food at all. The restaurant itself is a bit small, but doesn't feel overly cramped. The chairs were very comfortable as well. Our server was delightful and service was quick. I got the eggplant pasta and it was very tasty, though expensive as previously mentioned. We got the cannolis/creme brulee and while both were good, the cannolis were spectacular. Only upsetting thing is they gave us 3 pieces of bread for four people (blasphemy).
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
OVER PRICED and lacking in flavor... Fritto Misto is served with lemon only- if you want marinara sauce, don't bother asking for it and don't come here. They will look at you like you committed a major sin for asking. The white bean soup was basic - nothing remarkable and it needed pepper & salt (which we waited for), and the soup temperature had cooled by the time they brought condiments. My husband got the Linguine Allo Scoglio- again... flavor profile seriously lacking.... The server had already removed our pepper grinder so we were out of luck. The Millefoglie Di Melanzane was my main course. It was lack luster... the tomato sauce overwhelmed the eggplant. In a City, with so many wonderful Italian restaurants, two particular very close by, I will never return here.

Yelp
Real great Italian food, good wine, friendly staff. Ambience is relax but nice. Perfect for lunch and diner.

Yelp
Absolutely fabulous creative Italian eatery. Sitting outside under the pergola and dining on pasta and wine was spectacular. The menu is curated but broad enough to satisfy most palates, and the dishes were both creative and appropriate for the season (summer). Pasta cooked al dente, by a kitchen that obviously cares about putting out a quality product. Ambiance outside as noted was relaxing and comfortable. Pleasantly surprised at the high quality and modern take on Italian cuisine. Highly recommended!

Yelp
The food is amazing and it has the only full bar on the main strip of Larchmont. The bartenders are friendly and make amazing cocktails. 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
I recently dined at Bettola and it was a delight! From the warm and inviting atmosphere and the impeccable/authentic service, every aspect exceeded my expectations. The food was amazing; each dish bursting with flavor and made with fresh ingredients. For appetizers, I recommend the Burrata special. The cheese is ridiculously good--it's a true taste of Italy! We ordered the Pizza Funghi and the Tonnarelli alla Norcina. Both were soo delicious. We ended the night with a few digestivos and a creme brûlée. The staff was attentive and ensured that every moment of my dining experience was memorable. I cannot wait to return and indulge in more of their exquisite cuisine. Grazie mille for a wonderful evening!"
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered a negronii and the bartender poured it from a bottle that was PRE-MIXED .... CRINGE... for a drink that pricey, I would expect the bartender to know how to make one to order, especially if I am sitting right there at the bar. The bartender's were nice though. The atmosphere was stunning-beautiful. (Saved them from a single star) This is what the HIGH prices are paying for, because it's not really the food or drinks. The food was ok, expected the flavor to be more unique and exquisite considering the small portion related to the crazy high price.

Christine C.

Yelp
Former Vernetti fan. I intentionally avoided La Bettola for several months, but it looked so cute each time I walked by I eventually broke down and had drinks a few times (wine only, I can't comment on the cocktails). Recently I had, most likely, my only meal there considering for the first time in my life, I was tempted to send food back. I ordered the insalata verde which looked and tasted like a sad bag of Trader Joe's greens and a clumpy spaghetti al limone pasta which tasted like it was flavored with lemon powder and which, to my absolute horror, contained the same sad greens. A bad meal is not the end of the world, but considering what they charge, it's not great. The two star review does not extend to the decor, adorable bathroom, or the staff who have always been very warm, welcoming and on top of their game.

Yelp
My family had delicious lunch yesterday afternoon. Every dish we ordered was tasteful. Polpo alla griglia was exceptionally delicious. We did not take a picture, we ate it all very quickly. Our waitress LINDSAY- welcoming, attentive, beautiful smile, quick service. She was so nice to even clean the broken glass which fell from my grandson's hand. Thank you Lindsay, happy Holidays to you and your coworkers.

Yelp
Epic miss from this spot. We had a reservation at 6PM. As soon as we got to the hostess station, the very first thing she says to us is "we're going to need your table back in 90 minutes." Like what? First time ever here and they are already telling us when we need to go. Terrible way to set the tone. Food was crazy expensive and super forgettable. For 3 people we had a couple appetizers, a piece of fish, two pastas and a couple glasses of wine and it was almost $300. My review was gonna be 3 stars, but what took it down to 2 was the bathrooms. See the attached photo. It was like a swamp in there. Paper towels and water everywhere. If you're going to charge people premium prices for food, have someone clean the restrooms. The absolute least you can do. It's crazy cause the place was PACKED but it's just cause it's new and the hype. Unless they get their act together this spot isn't gonna last just like the previous Italian spot...
google avatar

Jessica F.

Yelp
New spot in Larchmont certainly worth trying. Packed place on a Wednesday night, we had a late reservation with great service. The highlight was certainly the food though- the prosciutto with burrata, while simple sounding, was actually rly standout. For entrees we got the cacio e pepe and the cavatelli alla genovese. While both were delicious, the genovese was a MUST order. Ambience was fantastic, very intimate. Will 100% be back and highly recommend.

Brett O.

Yelp
We had requested that one of the pizzas be modified because I do not eat mushrooms. We were told that even though they are made-to-order, the pizza recipes are made according to "Italian tradition" and no exceptions can be made. If the chef's pretentious attitude is more important to this restaurant than accommodating a paying guest, we don't want to come back again.
google avatar

Victoria C.

Yelp
The ratings are based on food mostly. It's relatively new so there is room for improvement. Came here with friends and staff was friendly and polite--some were better than others. Our water was never refilled, for example. We had drinks but having someone check if we needed more water would have been good. Space within the restaurant is small but they also have an outside area (on sidewalk). The burrata e pera was good as well as their seafood pasta. Will visit again sometime in the future to see how it develops.

Yelp
Waaaaay too expensive for what it was. Overrated and overpriced. Ordered a Caicos Pepe dish that was too Al dented and tasteless. I miss Vernetti
google avatar

Adam D.

Yelp
I've lived in the Larchmont neighborhood for 9 years now. In fact, I was the previous opening wine director at Vernetti (the spot that was here previously). This is my second visit and as I expected, coming between lunch and dinner on a Monday was the perfect timing. I sat at the bar (which I had to myself) and the bartender was knowledgeable and helpful. They've done a wonderful job of reimagining the spot, and I think the menus are tastefully put together. As I no longer drink alcohol, I had a faux Negroni (which was bottled but hey...it's faux) and it helped clean my palette after my afternoon coffee across the street. I had the Amber Jack crudo this time around and I can tell because of my timing I had the kitchen's full attention as evidenced by the perfect cut and presentation. It was fresh and flavorful. On a previous visit, I had sword fish, which was fine enough but didn't imbue me with confidence. Today's visit was worth the price of admission. I'd like to say this as I see a lot of moaning in the other reviewers...this is a newer restaurant; opening at a time and place where margins are hard to meet, in a precarious economy. If you're coming on a Friday night expecting perfect service at 8pm and there's a full house with a long wait...well then you are the fool and you played yourself. Lift your head, look around, and read the room a little. Patience is a virtue that a precious few posses and I'm glad I gave this spot a second chance as the first time I would say that my service was bad, and experience sub par because of it. Everyone needs to learn how to walk before they run. Give this spot a chance. It's worth it.

Yelp
Great service and wine selection. The experience was bout a 6.75/10. Lil over priced. The lighting was too bright. I really enjoyed my experience though and the food was far better than anything I can cook. Cute lil date spot.

Yelp
Came right on time for our reservation and was seated as soon as we arrived. More than 10 minutes have passed and no one even bothered to check on us or even offered us water. 3-4 servers just passed by us like we were not there. Most of the people eating around us were halfway done their meals or just waiting for their dessert. These servers who walked past us had the time to stop and have a little chitchat to each other. We've been to busier restaurants and have never been treated like this. We were ready to leave as the 15-minute mark was approaching and someone who seemed like a manager finally came by to ask "have you been helped yet?" He was nice, I give him that but our mood was already ruined. A server only came by to check on us as we were about to finish our food and to give our cheque. Their food is nothing spectacular that could have made up for the bad experience.

Yelp
Review: Save your money. In a town (and street) with options, there is no reason eat here. Food: we came for lunch, had 2 cardboard pizzas and a pasta. The food was not as good as the Beverly location, but what really made it taste awful was the arrogance of the kitchen when the server told me they refuse to cut our pizzas into slices. They suggested steak knives and gave one to my 6yo. It was a mess. They need to get over themselves. Service: the front of house was actually really good (thus 2 stars instead of one). Ambiance: new and really dated at the same time. I wouldn't call it interesting. In closing: nope

Yelp
Finally a great Italian restaurant you can just walk in to and sit down. The food was so tasty and I cannot eat gluten or dairy-ha! It's not easy being me especially at an Italian restaurant. But this was delicious and I do not feel sick. I had the Brussel sprouts with sausage, spicy but delicious, the hamachi with some perfect tiny sweet pepper that I now want to grow in my garden. I had some veal dish that was good but a lot of meat. And the mushroom and arugula salad that was the perfect pairing with the veal. I would have loved to try the pasta and desserts but I just cannot eat that way. Bravo!

Yelp
I've been to Bettola twice now, and both times left underwhelmed by the food and cocktails. We all had Italian standards: Cacio e Pepe, Amatritiana, Bolognese, and a pizza. Everything tasted okay, but did not rise to the level of a high-end Italian restaurant. The drinks and wine pours seemed very small, and my negroni was light pink indicating the wrong proportion of Compari. The scotch list was also unusual and limited. Even so, the atmosphere is nice. We were given a very nice table outside the front of the restaurant that was both beautiful and comfortable, and the hostesses and waiters were very nice and professional.

John D.

Yelp
This place is terrible, the pasta is undercooked all the time and the prices are ridiculous they act like they are the sh**t. The chef isn't even in the kitchen When I ask the server to talk to him about the sweet marinara and to get an explanation on why it's sweet the server told me he does t know where he is and I ask again to see him 45 minutes later she still told me he had gone home on a Saturday night I bet the cooks run the restaurant without a chef in the kitchen checking all the food. The cannoli were old and and didn't seem fresh the torta de melen Was overwhelming with the terrible egg filling. The fish taste like it was inside of a bag for a long time. Thai place isn't good. Don't come

Yelp
Love Terroni, one of the best Italian spots in LA in my humble opinion. The food is fresh, so flavorful. I love the authenticity of the southern Italian dishes. Some highlights: Funghi Asolutti - breaded oyster mushrooms on an arugula bed, citrus and balsamic. This is my all time fave appetizer. Sipped an Aperol Spritz with. Spaghetti Pomodoro - gorgeous simplistic dish, fresh pasta great texture. Devon the bartender recommended a great Aglianico by the glass. Branzino - loved this. So fresh and cooked perfectly. Delicious set up with the vegetables. Finished dinner with Tiramisu, an espresso and the Digestivo flight, where I got to choose from a selection of Italian liqueurs. The service is warm and attentive and ambiance intimate with gorgeous tile, wood, and fixtures throughout. Looking forward to them opening in Brentwood next year.

Yelp
I want to start off by saying I LOVE Terroni Beverly. It is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in LA, and my go to for a fun brunch with friends, special occasion dinners, or even just pizza night. My friend and I were so excited to try out Bettola on Larchmont and we went last night. The food and service was great. Our waitress and the sommelier were very attentive, the food was excellent and came out fast, however I don't think I'll be returning to the Larchmont location. There were two incidences that I'd like to write about: When I first walked up, the host was talking to someone, who I thought was a customer, so I stood by and waited while they finished their conversation. A few minutes go by and I realize that they're both hosts and there was no break in their conversation, so I broke in and told them I was there for my reservation. It was very strange since at Beverly, I am always greeted so warmly. I had to wait at the bar, which I have no problem with. I opened the menu and didn't see my favorite Terroni Beverly drink: the cucciolo on the menu so I asked the bartender if one of the drinks on the Larchmont menu was similar. The bartender responded, "I don't drink cocktails when I go to Terroni Beverly, so I don't know." I mean, you're a bartender..can you at least ask what its similar to or if he can make something similar? I don't know, it was very strange. And I get that its a different restaurant, but sheesh. What kind of response is that? I guess I'm just more disappointed with those two experiences at Larchmont. Beverly is always such a pleasant experience, on top of how great the food is. I guess I'll just keep going there.

Yelp
But if you do go for a drink, don't get a Negroni--they pour it premixed out of a carafe.

Yelp
I would say the food is just average. The pizza rustica was decent. The bread was soft and served with olive oil and pepperoncinis. The fritto misto was okay. Luckily they serve it with lemon which saved the dish. The lentil soup was scorching hot and lacked flavor. The prices were much too high for the portions served, but it's to be expected in Larchmont Village. Service was great from the hostess to our waitress who checked on us frequently. It has a cute and romantic atmosphere. Outdoor seating has heaters and they give blankets as well which I thought was a nice touch.

Yelp
The pasta here is excellent and the salads were great. I would highly recommend this place. It is a very good Italian restaurant. they could have a better wine selection, but it was good and wine went with the meal. the desserts were Okay. Don't expect to have a very full bodied Malbec or Cabernet here. They don't have it by Glass. The wine steward was a bit lazy and slow and uncaring. The waiters were busy and not hugely attentive, but they were Okay. The atmosphere was nice. It's a very small place.

Yelp
I'm giving a low review because they served the fairly large, one-sized pizza on a plate un-cut and when I asked the server to ask the kitchen to cut it into slices (like ANY OTHER pizzeria in the world does), he refused, saying, "They don't do that because it's more 'authentic' this way." I don't care if it's "authentic" or not; you're on Larchmont Avenue in Los Angeles, notta de-ah old-ah world-ah Roma, so don't inconvenience your American customers who a) expect their pizza to be cut so that they don't make a mess trying to cut it themselves; and b) accommodating a simple customer request that takes ten seconds in the kitchen, which shouldn't even have to be asked for. Service was lackadaisical and slow/ineffective/attitudey. (They want to be "authentic" Italian but then have the "LA attitude" of service; dats-ah nuts-ah). However, pizza itself was good, so there's that. Just come with a large serrated knife in hand; that ought to shake 'em up a bit.

Yelp
The food really sucks. Vernetti that was in the location previously was a gem with amazing food. This place has great ambiance, and the staff are lovely, but the food just sucks. How do you screw up Italian food? They figured out how. I've eaten there four times because I wanted to root for a good neighborhood spot, but I took my wife there today because she wanted to prove me wrong, but she agrees. The green salad had gross greens and tasted like soap. The lemon pasta looked like it came out of a Mac n cheese box, and had no discernible flavor other than cheese with a hint of lemon.

Yelp
We walked in a party of four at 4 pm on Sunday. The restaurant was empty. They asked us if we had a reservation and we said no. They made us sit in the very back of the restaurant. When I asked if we could move over to another table the hostess said that table is for 5 people and we don't have a reservation. We felt like we were being punished for not having a reservation. After a few minutes they allowed another party of four to sit at the table of 5. The food was salty, the pasta was very aldente, the portions were small. Rude hostess with an attitude. Overpriced Italian food. Go to Mozza it's much better!!!

Yelp
The food has quality taste always and fresh. I am surprised at some reviews here saying the food tastes mediocre...it really does not. This place is not a generic Italian place, it is Southern Italian and there is a difference between the taste. Maybe that is what some people do not realize, is that the taste may be different due to that; it works for some people and does not for others. It works for me! The service at this place is also amazing, the whole staff is nice and accommodating. Although it is a small space, it is designed in a way that is cozy. I enjoy coming here when I am in the area.

Yelp
The food was sub par and when I asked for some marinara sauce for my soggy and tasteless calamari they refused because "the Chef has rules" Now if the chef were making food that is good I would say "you go Chef, I appreciate you standing by your vision" But the food was not good. Might want rethink that policy. I'm giving one star for the waiter cause at least he tried.

Yelp
TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTING & RUDE ! We went there to enjoy a peaceful Sunday afternoon lunch and ordered 2 pasta dishes. When I asked for a little parmesan and my husband dared to put some on his seafood pasta, we were scolded like 4 year olds by an extremely condescending waiter who seemed to take actual pleasure in reprimanding us and who ultimately literally took the parmesan away from me (!). Have never experienced anything like this in any restaurant anywhere in the world. Now, I get it - it may not be proper fine dining etiquette to put parmesan on your pasta when the chef envisions the dish to be eaten as it comes out but with all due respect: this is a tavern-style restaurant, not a Michelin-star place, and when I pay $ 80 for 2 plates of pasta and a cappucino, I would like to enjoy it the way I like even if adding a little parmesan isn't in line with the chef's vision. Left a really bad taste in my mouth, ruined the Sunday afternoon. We will definitely not be back. If you're that petty and can afford to lose great local customers (who would have returned frequently had it been a good experience) over a spoon of parmesan cheese on pasta you must clearly be doing really well and not need our patronage despite the sky high rent prices on Larchmont Blvd. So wishing this establishment the best of luck forcing its Chef's petty ego-derived policies onto customers in return for paying premium prices.
