The Best Restaurants In Lakeview - Chicago - The Infatuation

"What differentiates La Biznaga #2 from the other taquerias nearby is their selection of 16 different fillings. You can customize your taco line-up however you want, with options like chorizo, carne asada, crispy beef intestine, or our first-round draft pick: the juicy lengua. Though the tacos are the highlight, they also have larger plates of enchiladas, fajitas, and a steak dinner. With plenty of tables, this bright, vibrantly colored spot works for solo diners, couples, and small groups. Plus, they also have Taco Tuesday discounts, which is an easy excuse to try all of their varieties at least once a week." - sam faye, adrian kane, john ringor, veda kilaru

I recently visited La Biznaga Mexican Restaurant to satisfy my craving for chicken tamales. The service was impressively fast, and the waiter was attentive throughout my meal. The complimentary chips and salsa were a nice start, and the chicken tamales arrived hot and packed with spice. They were quite fiery, but the accompanying salad helped balance out the heat. I also tried a chicken taco, which had good flavor but was a bit on the dry side. The restaurant itself is a decent size with a cozy atmosphere, making it a comfortable place to dine. If you're looking for spicy, flavorful tamales, I'd definitely recommend checking this place out!

I loved this joint. Food was amazing, service was great. Some of the best horchata I've ever had in my life... I highly recommend and I will be back...

I love this place! nice wait staff and yummy food. Wish their taco Tuesday special had a vegetarian option :) but the veggie tacos are great!

Google
La Biznaga is my under the radar taco spot that has the right price for high quality food. And the service is unparallel to other spots I have been to. You won’t be disappointed as it covers all aspects from different kinds of proteins and even not meat offerings.

Google
We went to La Biznaga recently and left super impressed. Pros: - The location is beautiful and super festive. It's really inviting and a great place to have a quick meal or a longer date. - The staff are very welcoming and the service was fantastic. - The menu is designed beautifully with a great code for meat eaters and non-meat eaters. There's something for everyone. - The food was delicious. It's authentic and very well seasoned. - The salsas are truly authentic and flavorful. We couldn't get enough of the 3 different salsas provided. Cons: - The burrito we ordered unfortunately came with an unknown piece of wood. It was super weird, but when we told the owner, she handled it with the utmost professionalism and apology. We were very pleased with the response. This did not detract from our enjoyment of the meal. I absolutely recommend this restaurant and will be frequenting it often.

Google
Very charming and well run family business. The prices are great, the food so well seasoned (their homemade salsa is to die for). The place is also BYOB and during weekday mornings they have bottomless coffee options for remote workers. My new favorite restaurant in lakeview. Go go go!

Google
Found this Chicago gem as we were looking for a Mexican dinner spot. Ended up having a delicious Horchata to drink and very good guacamole with a hint of spice. We then enjoyed tacos al pastor, Birria tacos, and tacos asada. The tacos al pastor had a great combination of pineapple and pork with cilantro and onion. The tacos Birria were really juicy and tasty… something that we are glad that we tried. Finally the tacos Asada were just OK because they were a bit dry. Finally, our daughter enjoyed some wonderful cheese quesadillas that were quite plentiful. Finally, the place has a cool feel with lots of decorations and a great staff team that were friendly and attentive, and made us feel quite at home.

Yelp
Authentic atmosphere and food. Perfect place to grab filling food and walk to Wrigley for a Cubs game. I appreciated the kind staff and enjoyed the asada burrito!

Yelp
My new favorite Mexican food in Lake View East. The place is very cozy with a ton of artwork on the walls. The I did order to-go, but the food was still hot when I got home. The cashier was friendly and even informed me of the daily deal when I was placing my order which was kind. We ordered Al Pastor Tacos, Burrito, Abuela's Bistec Encebollado tacos, and the Chips & Salsa. I will say the salsa is very chunky and is probably different than what you are expecting. Still delicious. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Solid, friendly spot in Lakeview for Mexican food. Their prices are great and the quality of the food is high. You get chips and a selection of salsas once you get to your table too - all of which are delicious. Great option of a quick dinner/lunch or food before a Cub's game.

Yelp
The food here is so fresh. The taste is so clean tasting. This is my 2nd time. I have had their steak burrito and chicken burrito. So good and the protein ( steak and the chicken) was so lean and good quality. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
La Baznaga has quickly become one of my favorite places to grab a bite before or after a Cubs game! The restaurant is cozy, and its location near Wrigley makes it the perfect spot for game day. We ordered the chicken fajitas and steak tacos and both were incredible - hands down some of the best in the area. The fajitas were perfectly seasoned, and the steak tacos were packed with flavor. You can tell they use fresh ingredients and put a lot of care into every dish.

Yelp
Today, we decided to have a simple and quick lunch on n our way home. We have been here a few times last year. First time for 2025. You aeat yourself. Chips and sauce gets brought to table with the menu. There were other tables eating. We sat before Table 4 but their order was taken first. Apparently, they speak the language and we don't. We were last table to order. Food we had was good. We ordered tacos and quesidias. Forgot to take pictures of food as we were annoyed with the service. Will try other places before we come back here

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised by this kind of hole in the wall place. We went for lunch during the week and it was very empty. We got table chips which were good, but the table salsa and salsa bottles were all a little too spicy for me so it would've been nice to have something more mild as an option. We split an asada burrito and a campechano torta. Both of them were reallllly good. I think I liked burrito more, but it was definitely bigger, more filling, and more expensive so if I were coming for lunch alone, I'd probably go with the torta, which was also really yummy, but had a little less meat and other fillings.

Yelp
LOVE IT HERE! Delicious food for a great price :) The ambiance is very casual. Our server was nice but did not chat with us too much. The food came out fast and honestly was super filling for the price. Will definitely be visiting again.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped in for lunch and loved the experience! The shrimp taco was our favorite, with a delicious sriracha mayo on top! We loved the variety of salsas they had, and our server was very attentive. We will definitely be back to try other menu items soon!

Yelp
A great casual mexican place with great prices! The service is fast and accommodating and the food was very tasty. I got the asada armageddon tacos, the pescado tacos, and the cameron crazy tacos. The asada tacos were good but underwhelming but the pescado and shrimp tacos were both delicious. The shrimp tacos were my favorite - the shrimp were cooked perfectly and the siracha mayo was delicious and paired really well with the shrimp. The pescado tacos were similarly perfectly cooked and the flavors were top notch. The tacos themselves were soft and tasty!
google avatar

Yelp
Decent tacos, decent salsa, the chips aren't great (maybe too thick or just lacked salt?), but flavor of everything else is solid. I'd like to come back here again and try something different. The service was iffy - basically felt like we were an inconvenience.

Yelp
Fantastic neighborhood restaurant. Food is delicious! The owners are husband and wife and are the kindest, sweetest people. They are genuinely excited to have you dine at their restaurant. Every time I've dined there has been lovely. Wish I could give this place 6 stars!

Yelp
Went in for a solo lunch on Saturday afternoon. It is very cutely decorated and bigger than you would expect from outside. The salsa was very good and had a nice spice. Service was fast I got chips and salsa almost instantly sitting down. I got the steak dinner which was really flavorful. I ended up having to take some to go because the serving was big.

Yelp
First time trying, and the birria IS GOOD. We'll definitely try again. In addition to the birria, we had the nopales, lengua (tongue), and abuella's bistec tacos. Also the pico and queso with chips. Yum. Horchata was good as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious Al pastor tacos that were stuffed well (good portions). The guac and burrito came in huge servings which I loved. The people there are super nice - we ordered takeout because we were bringing the food to the bar 2 doors down and they offered to bring it to us which was so kind and not necessary. Was very clean and cozy inside.

Yelp
Third time having lunch here and it's beyond time for this review. Everything you order at this place is amazing. We're from CA and have always thought we left good Mexican food behind until we found this spot. First off they bring this amazing salsa and chips to your table as soon as you sit down. Usually we order tacos (asada, chicken or cactus) and guacamole on the side. Delicious. Yesterday I wanted to mix it up so I ordered an asada burrito. Holy crap this was the best burrito I've had in years. Maybe ever! It's huge so I took half home and just had it for lunch today. It was as good as it was at the restaurant. If you want excellent Mexican food you can't go wrong with this spot. Every single person who works here is amazing too!

Yelp
My favorite Mexican joint in Chicago. I've been coming here regularly every week or two for the past few months. This place is solidly consistent and the quality of the food never disappoints. Tacos and horchata are the highlight for me here - I've never had a bad taco. Their tostada and tortas are delicious as well. Their salsas are homemade and I've even bought pints home because I enjoy them so much. Even without the salsa the meats on their tacos are flavorful enough as is. They have taco Tuesday deals so don't miss out! Once you come try it, the food will speak for itself.
google avatar

Velina M.

Yelp
The food was a little disappointing. I guess we were both expecting something fantastic because of the 5/5 on Yelp but we were both unhappy. First off, barely any options for non meat eaters or pescatarians. Right of the bat it was hard for me to find someone appealing. I guess the portions were pretty big but we did not finish them so whatever. My bf stake was overcooked and the beans and rice were under seasoned. The cheese enchiladas were overall decent but nothing special and the tacos were not tasty at all. I don't think that we will go there again. We have definitely had a lot better tacos and overall Mexican cuisine in the city....

Yelp
I don't say this a lot, or really much at all, but the people at La Biznaga 2 are family. I've been with them since their 1st location on Pulaski and to see how much their business has glowed up is nothing short of incredible. From just a husband and wife/cook and server duo comes this massive staff of hardworking individual which makes what we know today as this lovely Mexican restaurant in East Lakeview. Their new space is huge compared to #1. Tons of seats to dine in, a lot of beautiful decoration that highlights the rich culture and heritage of everything that is Mexico, and a revised food menu that continues to capture the alluring looks and flavors of the Biznaga that I came to love many years ago. To start off, you will get a complimentary basket of tortilla chips with the house-made salsa de molcajete that is simply to die for. I mean, no other salsa elsewhere can compare, in my opinion. The greatest tasting salsa I've ever had. For entrees, we ordered the carne asada tostadas and carne/pollo fajitas. For just tostadas, these guys load these things up with as much meat as they possibly can. It's almost like an art. You really get the most of what you pay for. Same with the fajitas, I mean everything came out steaming and absolutely tasty that I honestly wish the dish never ended. It was so lovely getting to see the owners again, and to have them recognize me after all these years was such a warm feeling. This place has always helped me feel seen and wanted, and to have that with a warm inviting restaurant that serves the best type of Mexican food in the city. Period. Much love to Biznaga-- they deserve all the praise they've been getting, all the success they've had so far, and everything that has yet to come. Much love.

Yelp
One of my friends comes here fairly often and I had the pleasure of checking this restaurant out for the first time recently. There was no wait when we arrived on a Saturday night. We started with the guacamole and chips and this was a good way to start our meal. To eat, I got the enchiladas. These were literally some of the most memorable enchiladas I've ever had in Chicago. The meat inside was incredibly tender and flavorful. The portion was just right after a long day. The prices for everything seemed really fair. My two other friends got the tacos, and they both raved about how good they were. I will definitely be back again to try more menu items.
google avatar

Rosy L.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. It's so unassuming but the food is amazing. There's no fluff, just pure tacos, and because of that it's also so reasonably priced. The tacos come with cilantro and onions, but if you want to add extra toppings, you do have to pay an extra fee. I got the Asada Armageddon and Chorizo and both were delicious and so flavorful. Chorizo is on the saltier side so just a heads up if you have a light palette! I love salty foods so it was right up my alley. I also got a side of elote which was delicious as well. I'll definitely be back for dinner and will be taking advantage of the BYOB! Will definitely be recommending to all my friends :)
google avatar

Celia P.

Yelp
My favorite taco place in the city, the meat is always so tender and yummy. The spice is amazing and the salsa is fire. Got the guacamole, that was yummy as well. Tiny little shop but serves well!

Noelle G.

Yelp
Staff is friendly and the food is on point. A Special shout out to the birria tacos. Only complaint is I would have loved some consome with it. Also they had complimentary chips and salsa which so few places seem to do these days.
google avatar

Nikith E.

Yelp
I only ordered takeout from this restaurant, so I can't comment too much on the service on the ambiance, but it was good from my short time in the restaurant. The food was ready as promised on time. I ordered the veggie torta, elote, and nachos which were all pretty good. My friend ordered the tacos which were probably a little better. Overall, I'm giving this restaurant 4 stars because the food is good, but nothing mind blowing. It is a reliable and consistent local Mexican restaurant.
google avatar

Masha V.

Yelp
Super friendly staff and clean restaurant. Love their hot sauces as well! Here is what I had: -Chorizo taco: YUM! It was definitely my favorite. It was so full of flavor! I would come back just for the chorizo. -Carne Asada taco: I liked the steak and flavors of it all. However, my tortilla completely fell apart on me so it was hard to eat. -Al Pastor w/ pineapples: it was good, I love the pineapples! Welcome to the neighborhood!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent new addition to the East Lakeview neighborhood. High quality super tasty food, huge menu selection, friendly staff & owner. Can't say enough good things about this place. Everything we tried was DELICIOUS but my fave was probably the asada Gordita. It's essentially a taqueria but with table service but with a lot more personality than your typical Mexican counter joint. Decor inside is super cute and they even have some pride decorations which is fitting given being located in Boystown. Plenty of seating whether you want a quick bite in the window counter or a table w a small group. The place is BYOB and looks like they're now serving breakfast as well.
google avatar

Audrey L.

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about this family owned restaurant! Such personal service, excellent chips and amazing salsa and best tacos I have had since living in Arizona! Will be back!!

Monica S.

Yelp
I've eaten her countless times and will continue to go for some of the best, authentic, flavorful food one can find in Chicago. The chef is from Jalisco, MX, and his recipes remind me of my mom's who is also from Jalisco. The roasted hot sauce from the molcajete is ridiculous along with the chorizo and cheese appetizer. It's sizzling hot and such a generous portion. Oh and the warm authentic tortilla chips- damn! Lastly, Esperanza is one of my favorite servers. She's is an absolute gem! She's kind, helpful, great conversationalist, and has such a beautiful nurturing energy. So cute! Reminds me of home. She's on top of everything from the moment we walk in, to the moment we leave. I love this place too much!
google avatar

Deanna P.

Yelp
Some of the best Mexican food I've had in Chicago! Small unassuming place, with a mom & pop vibe. I've had the tortas, tostadas and my friend tried a sope (which looked amazing and I will try in the future). All were fantastic. They have a hot salsa that's actually hot (and delicious) Only downside was they don't serve alcohol but they do allow byob. They are trying to get a liquor license by summer. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Cam S.

Yelp
The cuisine is authentic and affordable. Of course, mostly everything is a la carte, so you can eat your fill without necessitating leftovers. While they specialize in tacos, their horchata is worth the price of admission alone. I really enjoyed the service here, they made us feel very welcomed!

Madonna M.

Yelp
I went for breakfast on a Sunday at about 12:30 p.m., but they don't serve breakfast after 12:00 p.m., which was very disappointing since they only open at 10:00 a.m., and it is a weekend. The chicken burrito I ordered seemed to be warm when I received it, but it was not warm all the way through. The flavor was pretty bland and I feel way overpriced for what I received. I have had breakfast here in the past that was decent (which is why I'm giving it three stars, otherwise this would be a two-star review), but this whole experience was lacking. I'm not sure I will return again.

Yelp
Was excited to try this place as it's walking distance for us. Wasn't busy at about 6:15 on a Friday evening. Service was quick and we were told to take a seat of our choice. We brought a half bottle of wine and waiter quickly brought out glasses for it. Chips and salsa were very good. I got a chorizo Gordita. Unfortunately the Gordita "bun" was thick and seemed only very slightly cooked. I couldn't even taste the chorizo until I opened it up and just ate the filling. The filling was good. Husband got the enchiladas with pastor inside and he enjoyed that. He liked the rice and beans as well- he said he would have given his meal 4 stars. Maybe I got the wrong thing but I can't recommend the Gordita.
google avatar

Jake D.

Yelp
I've been here 3 times and I've been impressed each time. The first 2 visits I ordered the crazy camarón tacos. They are big and loaded with shrimp. Two were enough for me. Today I got a chorizo breakfast burrito. At $16 after tax it was expensive, but I must say it was huge and very tasty. I'll definitely be revisiting.

Yelp
My go to for tacos near work. All tacos are very tasty. Salsas are amazing and service is always great.

Yelp
Steak Quesadillas are excellent! Al pastor tacos are also on point! Great food and service . One of my go to spots.

Yelp
I've never had a bad meal here . It's a great place for tacos and the elote is fantastic.

Yelp
Happy Cinco de Mayo! To celebrate, we stopped by La Biznaga 2 for some tacos. My friend and I stopped there at 6PM. The interior was small and only had a few tables. The other room appeared to have a private event going on? It felt like they could've put more tables in there and seated people. By the time we left around 7pm it was super busy in the restaurant. Our server was friendly and never too far away if you needed something. The food also came out fairly quick. We were in and out of La Biznaga within an hour. Our food was pretty good! My steak taco was a little too salty for my taste, but the chicken taco was perfect! They came very filled and with 2 tortillas per taco (corn is the default), I felt happy with my 2 taco order and was full without being uncomfortable. There are 2 sauces that come on the table: we were told the red sauce is SPICY and the green sauce was a little spicy but looks like an avocado crema? Throw this on for some extra flavor! The price: AMAZING!!! We got FOUR tacos for $16.54 and were both full. A pretty unbeatable deal if you ask me. Overall La Biznaga was good and I'd definitely go back again. Until next time!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here several times and always enjoy their food. The warm salsa and chips that they bring when you sit down are delicious. The service is excellent. This place is super clean and they make delicious guacamole. I always enjoy this spot!

Joe O.

Yelp
I tried La Biznaga yesterday sharon for the first time since they moved to Broadway from Pulaski & Addison. I had a chorizo burrito and it was as amazing as I remembered from their prior location. And their chips and salsa are the best i've ever had! I'll definitively be going back!!! I'll always miss having them be so close to me in Irving Park but this new location is fine too! Salute!

Yelp
This is a local restaurant for me. They serve authentic Mexican cuisine and specialize in tacos. I ordered the torta, nachos, and street corn. My favorite was the street corn, as it was creamy and rich. I like how the portion sizes were pretty big. I just wish the vegetarian food had more flavor or ingredients to make it stand out more. I think more salsa options (or a wider range of salsa types and spice levels) could elevate this restaurant. Other than that, I've heard their fish tacos, chicken tacos, and cactus tacos are really good. Service is great, as the employees are quick and efficient. Ambiance is warm and friendly. This place is a decent option if you're looking for authentic Mexican food and you don't want to wait long. I do recommend trying it out if you're in the Lakeview East area.

Yelp
I ordered tacos and a burrito for pick-up. It was very busy on a Friday night. It's BYOB, and a lot of customers brought their own alcohol. I got the following (all tacos with corn tortilla): - Al Pastor Magic (Classic Tacos) for $3.50: This was marinated pork with pineapple, and I liked the sweetness of the pineapple combined with the flavoring of the pork. - Asada Armageddon (Signature Tacos) for $4.00: This was seasoned steak with pico de gallo. - Camarón Crazy (Signature Tacos) for $4.00: This was grilled shrimp with siracha mayonnaise, cilantro and onions. - Asada burrito for $12.00: This consisted of grilled steak, lettuce, tomato, cheese, sour cream, onion, cilantro, beans, and rice. The steak was cooked well and tender, and the combination of all the ingredients made each bite quite delicious. All three tacos were very enjoyable and seemed like high quality. My favorites were the Al Pastor Magic and Camarón Crazy. The green sauce was a bit creamy, and the red sauce was very spicy (a little goes a long way). As Terminator would say, "I'll be back."

Yelp
Love love love La Biznaga and so happy that it's right down the street from my house. We got carry out last night but want to sit in their dining room next time! The carnitas tacos on corn tortillas were phenomenal. They don't skimp on the meat! We also had the chorizo which was delicious. Snag a side of rice and beans and you're all set! Very family friendly place and all of the staff were so kind!

Yelp
Ordered here for delivery last night, and the food was delicious! I've been meaning to try this establishment since they opened since people in the area have been raving about it. Having a good Mexican spot where you live is a must, and this may very well be my go-to now. We got 2 steak quesadillas, an order of the nachos (only $10 considering the large size with meat), and two burritos (one asada, and one Al pastor). Personally, I didn't feel like my Al Pastor burrito was super Al pastor tasting (I'm used to the red meat like back home in LA), but the carne asada one was excellent. I would really like to dine in at this place given its proximity and tasty food. It's apparently also a BYOB place which already means it's lit! Looking forward to coming here soon!

Yelp
Highly recommend - tastes like my abuelas cooking! I happened to be walking by and stopped in for some tamales; they are perfection.

Yelp
Great food at great prices! Service was friendly and the inside was very clean. Highly recommend! The queso app is enough for a group.

Yelp
Came here with my boyfriend for a casual dinner. The atmosphere is charming and the service was excellent. The complimentary chips and salsa is a nice touch and the salsa is delicious. My boyfriend got the birria burrito which he said was the best burrito he's ever had. I got the birria torta and I was very impressed. The birria is to die for. We will definitely be coming back!

Stopped in on a whim one Thursday afternoon. This is the second location for this restaurant. At this point they have been open 8 days. It is a bright open space, well lit. They do not have a liquor license but you can bring in your own. We were greeted by a server and offered water and salsa chips and two different sauces. . We placed an order for 4 tacos, 2 carne asada, one pollo and one chorizo. We wanted to try the pork belly but it wasn't ready at the time. We loved the tacos. Very tasty and flavorful. At the end of our meal, We did get a small taste from our server, very good. Super reasonable lunch. Give it a try!!
