Where to Find Birria and Quesabirria Tacos Around the Twin Cities

"Tacos, of course, are the backbone of the menu at La Bodega’s new Uptown restaurant — the quesabirria tacos are stuffed with ample shredded beef and cheese. But one of the most popular dishes is actually the birria ramen, which pairs fiery beef birria broth with springy ramen noodles, all topped with diced onions and cilantro and served in a noodle cup." - Cinnamon Janzer, Lindsay Abraham, Eater Staff

Yelp
Great street style tacos, plenty of seating and love the self serve setup for ordering and not being reliant on someone for water/refills. Fun, hole in the wall vibe. The guacamole was fresh, flavorful and the chips are beautifully thin and delish! The tacos offered generous amounts of protein. Both were seasoned perfectly and my shrimp were not overcooked. They had a grilled sear, and were memorable. Hennepin is under construction so best if you can walk/bike there.

Yelp
Hey Travoodies Hey! When I tell you Mmm Mmm Good.. thats exactly how I feel about the Birria Ramen at La Bodega Taco Bar. Cute and cozy is the vibe that you get when you walk into the Hennepin Ave location. Though small, they created an ambiance that quite cute. The workers are super friendly, however don't be surprised that few do not speak the best english. The menu looked super, but I had my mind and taste buds on the birria ramen. Let me first admit that I am not a fan of ramen. I have eaten it a few times, yet its never my go to when I think about meals. You get a great serving for the price. The drink options are few, however I just went with Mexican coke. My first bite into my ramen and I was hooked. Packed with the delicious marinated birria beef, this ramen set my tasters into a frenzy. Perfectly seasoned, meat plentiful and just enough spice to give a good kick. I was sold and before I knew was almost done with my bowl. On a scale of 1 to 5, its definitely a 6 for me. This is truly my opinion and you may not like ramen or birria. However, I will be going back for more.

Yelp
Never dined in at this place, but we ordered take out for dinner one night. We got the Birria Ramen, Crazy Fries (with Al Pastor), and the Esquites. The Birria consommé was very rich and the meat was super tender, but the ramen noodles were a bit too soft for my liking, probably because they used instant ramen. The fries came with a whole bunch of toppings which included choice of meat, beans and guacamole (to name a few). The Esquites made for a good snack, we paid extra to add hot cheetos to it, but I think it would have tasted better with fresh corn instead of canned. Portion sizes were also generous. Overall, the food was authentic, very flavorful, and aggressively seasoned. Pretty good.

Yelp
I used Yelp to find restaurants near the Uptown Theater in Minneapolis as we had a concert to attend. The wind was angry my friends. We braved a cold wind to arrive at La Bodega. Welcome site. We were greeted with 2 self serve ordering kiosks. Because we Yelped the menu, it was pretty easy using the kiosk knowing what piqued our interests. I loved the Ramen. This is something I would seldom consider ordering. In past experiences the beef had been frozen prior or....? This was seriously some of the best beef my wife and I have had. Very tender and when paired with noodles, heaven! Staff very attentive and friendly Clean bathroom Voted best pre-concert experience in Uptown!! By us

Yelp
Haven't tried the other locations but stopped by to check this location out since it was close to where I live. Food: I tried the quesabirria and it was very good! It had lots of meat which is nice. The consume was a bit salty for my liking but still a good dip for the tacos. Service: The staff greeted us right when we got in and everyone was very friendly. Ambiance: they have seating for you to dine in towards the back of the restaurant and you can see the food being prepared. Had some cool decor for you to take pictures with. Overall i had a good experience and will be back to try the other items on the menu!

Yelp
This is one of the hidden staples in Minneapolis and I enjoyed my visit here! First you can find parking with only street parking. Then you order on the kiosk. I ordered birriria tacos and it was delicious! The chips and queso were also delicious. They have seating in the back and really cute decorations such as the neon sign. Overall would come back!

Yelp
RUN dont walk! Great authentic tacos. The vibes in there were cute and fun! A great spot to grab a solo bite to eat. Minimal interactions to order. You can do take out or dine in. It's great. I had 3 fish tacos and a side of rice. The tacos??? FIRE. Came with double tortilla and the fish was blackened!! Whew. So good. They stuffed so much in the tortillas I got my moneys worth for sure.

Yelp
I decided to order some food from La Bodega Taco Bar because I wanted to support an Uptown business negatively affected by the massive construction project on Hennepin Avenue and my experience was ok, but disappointing. Let me start by saying I am Mexican, I was raised in LA and spent a lot of time in Mexico growing up so I've spent a lifetime eating authentic Mexican food. I ordered the Quesabirria Tacos with guacamole, a side of "refried" beans and a side of rice and my total with tax and tip came to $30. I'll start with the positive, I ordered my meal for takeout at lunch time on a weekend and my food was ready very quickly. The meat on the tacos was very moist and flavorful and they were topped with freshly chopped onions and cilantro. The tortillas were supposed to be crispy but they were actually quite soft and soggy. I'll chalk that up to the fact that I took the food to go. The guacamole was average but for $2.50 the amount you get is so small it was hardly worth the $16.50 price the tacos came to with the addition. All in all the tacos were pretty good, but not good enough for me to order again. The side of beans and rice were flat our horrible. I ordered a side of refried beans but what I got were VERY watery pinto beans with the stem of something I couldn't identify in them. I threw them out after two bites. Even though I grew up eating Mexican rice I am not super picky about it, but this rice had a very strange flavor I couldn't identify and they were VERY dry, so I threw those out after two bites as well. La Bodega is within walking distance of my apartment so I will give them one more try, minus the beans, rice and guacamole, and hopefully the next review will be a more positive one.

Yelp
I had the quesabirria tacos for takeout here and they were absolutely delicious. The service was prompt and the tacos were a good deal- much better than some places that charge you more for 3 tacos and they don't even include the consome.

Yelp
The birria tacos were nothing short of amazing. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, with tender, succulent meat enveloped in a rich, savory broth that had just the right balance of spices. The tortillas were warm, soft, and perfectly complemented the bold flavors of the birria.

Yelp
The queso birria tacos are seriously sooooo good! I really think it's a must try! It's so simple to order; you just order on a device as soon as you walk in and then sit wherever you'd like! It's pretty small in there so seating is a bit limited but it has never been a problem when I go visit! I wasn't a huge fan of the crazy fries and I tried a bite of my partner's burrito and it was pretty good but I'm telling you the queso birria tacos are the bomb!

Yelp
The Birria tacos are amazing here and their horchata is also really good. Their salsas have a lot of flavor as well.

Yelp
The quesabirria tacos were incredible! We came in for a quick lunch, limited patio seating but we still had a great time. The staff was very friendly! Highly recommend this spot for authentic and high quality food.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite to eat. The service was friendly, and the establishment was clean. I ordered my items on kiosk and paid. Picked my own seat and had my food in under 10 minutes. The vibe and decor was beautiful. I order two steak and one chicken street tacos and they were very flavorful. The corn was to die for, and the pineapple water was very refreshing and flavorful as well. Would recommend.

Yelp
This place started showing up on the food accounts I follow in city, and once I saw the birria ramen, I knew I had to try. The location I went to is on Hennepin, and there's plenty of street parking nearby. Can't say much for service since you order from a tablet, which I'm not a big fan of for food places since it's nice to put a face and name to the place. It worked just fine though, and the food was brought out hot and fast. I got the ramen of course, but also tried their quesabirria tacos and crazy nachos. It was all around punching above its weight! The tacos were piled with meat, though the seasoning lacked just a bit of punch, nachos were loaded, and the ramen was unlike anything I've had before. Flavorful for sure, it was also exceptionally rich and large. It truly is just ramen noodles and beef in the dipping consommé that birria tacos are famous for. If this is the only thing you're ordering, it could get heavy fast. My small group did things family-style, and so as a flavor among many I enjoyed it. Can't forget the space-- purple lighting and neon signs give this spot a distinct atmosphere. With music it has a fun, bordering on party vibe, so if that's on your own personal menu for the night, you won't be disappointed. Overall glad I stopped in!
